< Lik 14 >

1 Yon jou repo, Jezi te al lakay yonn nan chèf farizyen yo pou l' manje. Moun ki te la yo t'ap veye li.
It happened on the Sabbath Day when he went into the house of a certain ruler among Pharisees to take a meal, that they were watching him.
And lo! there was in front of him a man who had dropsy.
3 Jezi pran lapawòl, li mande dirèkte lalwa ak farizyen yo: Eske lalwa pèmèt moun fè gerizon jou repo a, wi ou non?
So Jesus questioned the lawyers and the Pharisees, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath Day or not?"
4 Yo pa reponn li. Lè sa a, Jezi pran nonm malad la, li geri l', epi li voye l' ale.
They kept silent. Then Jesus took him and healed him and let him go.
5 Apre sa, li di yo: Si yonn nan nou gen yon pitit gason l' osinon yon bèf li ki tonbe nan yon pi yon jou repo, èske li p'ap wete l' menm lè a?
And to them he said, "Which of you when an ox or ass has fallen into a well, will at once pull him out on the Sabbath Day?"
They could not answer this.
He told a parable to the guests when he noticed how they began choosing the best seats. He said to them.
8 Lè yo envite ou nan yon nòs, pa al chita nan pi bon plas la. Paske, si nan envite yo gen yon moun ki pi enpòtan pase ou,
"When you are invited by any one to a marriage-feast, do not sit down in the best seat, lest a guest more distinguished than yourself has been invited, and your host come to you and say,
"‘Give place to this man,’ and then with mortification you proceed to take the lowest place.
"But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place, so that when your host arrives he may say to you, ‘My friend, come up higher.’ Then you will be honored before the other guest.
11 Se konsa, moun ki vle leve tèt li, y'a desann li, moun ki desann tèt li, y'a leve li.
"For every one who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted."
Paske, yon lè y'a envite ou tou. Konsa, se tankou si yo ta renmèt ou sa ou te fè a.
Also to his host who had invited him, he continued, saying. "When you are making a dinner-party or a supper, do not invite your friends, or your brothers, or your relatives, or your rich neighbors, lest it chance that they invite you in return, and a recompense be made by you.
13 Men, lè w'ap fè yon fèt, envite pòv yo, enfim yo, moun k'ap bwete, moun avèg yo.
"But when you make a reception, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind.
"Then you will be blessed, because they have no means to repay you, but you shall be paid in the Resurrection of the Just."
15 Lè l' tande pawòl sa yo, yonn nan moun ki te chita bò tab la di Jezi konsa: Se va yon gwo benediksyon pou moun ki va chita bò tab pou manje nan peyi kote Bondye Wa a.
One of his fellow guest who was listening to him, said to him, "Blessed are those who eat bread in the kingdom of God."
Jesus answered. "A certain man was making a great feast to which he invited many guests.
"At dinnertime he sent his slave to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’
18 Men, tout envite yo, yonn apre lòt, pran fè eskiz. Premye a di li: Mwen fèk achte yon tè, fòk m' al wè li. Tanpri, eskize mwen.
"And they all, without exception, proceeded to excuse themselves. The first told him. ‘I have bought a field, and must needs go and see it. Pray have me excused.’
19 Yon lòt di li: Mwen fèk achte senk pè bèf; mwen pral seye yo. Tanpri, eskize mwen.
"The second said. ‘I have bought five yolk of oxen and am on my way to try them. I pray that you will have me excused.’
"‘I have taken a wife,’ said the another, ‘and for that reason I am unable to come.’
"So the slave came and presented all these answers to his master. Then the master of the house was indignant, and said to his slave. ‘Go out, quickly, into the streets and alleys of the city, and bring in hither the poor, the maimed, the blind, the lame.’
"And the slave said, ‘My master, your orders have been carried out, but yet there is room.’
Mezi moun wa jwenn, fè yo antre pou kay mwen an ka plen.
"Said the master to his slave. ‘Go out into the roads and the hedges, and make them come in, so that my house may be filled.
24 Paske, m'ap di nou sa: Nan moun mwen te envite yo, pa gen yon sèl ladan yo k'ap goute nan manje m' lan.
"‘For I tell you that not one of those invited guests shall taste my supper.’"
25 Lè sa a, te gen anpil anpil moun ki t'ap fè wout ansanm ak Jezi. Li vire, li di yo:
Great crowds were along with him, and he turned to them and said.
26 Yon moun ki vin jwenn mwen, si li pa rayi papa l', manman l', pitit li, frè l', sè l', menm pwòp tèt pa l', li pa kapab disip mwen.
"If any one comes to me and does not hate father and his mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters, yes, and his own very life also, he cannot be a disciple of mine.
"Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me, cannot be a disciple of mine.
28 Si yonn nan nou vle fè yon gwo batisman, premye bagay pou l' fè: se pou l' chita pou l' kalkile konbe sa pral koute l' pou l' wè si li gen kont lajan pou l' fin fè travay la.
"Which of you who is desirous of building a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, to see if he has the means to complete it?
29 Si l' pa fè sa, l'ap fin poze fondasyon an, epi l' p'ap ka fini batisman an. Lè sa a, tout moun ki va wè sa va pran pase l' nan betiz.
"Lest it happen that after he has laid the foundations and is unable to complete it, all who see it shall begin to jeer at him saying,
30 Y'a di: Nonm lan kòmanse bati, men li pa kapab fini.
"‘This fellow began to build and could not finish.’
31 Konsa tou, si yon wa vle fè lagè ak yon lòt wa, premye bagay pou l' fè: l'ap chita pou l' egzaminen bagay la byen, pou l' wè si, avèk dimil (10.000) òm, li kapab mache kontre lòt wa a k'ap mache sou li ak venmil (20.000) òm.
"Or what king as he goes forth to join battle with another king in war does not sit down first and deliberate whether he can meet with ten thousand men the one who is advancing against him with twenty thousand?
32 Si li pa kapab, antan lòt wa a lwen toujou, l'ap voye kèk mesaje bò kote l' pou mande l' fè aranjman.
"If he cannot, while the other king is yet a great way off, he sends an embassy to ask conditions of peace.
33 Jezi di yo ankò: Konsa tou, nou yonn la a pa kab disip mwen, si l' pa detache kè l' sou tou sa l' genyen.
"Just so any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.
34 Sèl, se yon bon bagay; men si sèl la pèdi gou l', ak kisa pou n' fè l' sale ankò?
"Salt is good, but if even the salt have lost its flavor, with what shall it be seasoned?
35 Lè sa a, sèl la pa bon pou mete ni nan jaden ni nan fimye, se jete pou yo voye sa jete. Si nou gen zòrèy pou n' tande, tande.
"It is fit neither for the land nor the dung-hill; men cast it out. He who has ears to hear let him listen to this!"
