< Plenn 3 >

1 Mwen se yon nonm ki konnen mizè moun gen pou pase lè Bondye ankòlè sou yo, lè Bondye ap pini yo.
I [, the one who am writing this, ] am a man who has been afflicted/punished [MTY] by Yahweh because he was angry.
2 Li trennen m', li fè m' mache nan fènwa san yon ti limyè pou klere m'.
[It was as though] he caused me to walk in a very dark place without any light [at all].
3 Tout lajounen, l'ap plede bat mwen san rete.
He has punished [IDM] me many times, all day, [every] day.
4 Po kò m' fin chire, vyann mwen parèt deyò konsa. Li kraze tout zo nan kò m'.
He has caused my skin and my flesh to become old. He has broken my bones.
5 Li fèmen m' nan yon koridò mizè ak lafliksyon.
He has surrounded me [DOU] with bitterness and suffering.
6 Li fè m' rete kote ki fènwa a tankou moun mouri yo.
[It is as though] he has buried me in a dark place like [SIM] [the graves of] those who have been dead for a long time.
7 Li moute yon miray, li fèmen kote m' ye a, m' pa ka chape. Li mare m' ak gwo chenn.
[It is as though] [MET] he has built a wall around me, and fastened/tied me with heavy chains, and I cannot escape.
8 Tout rele mwen rele byen fò, pesonn p'ap tande m'.
Although I call out and cry out for him to help me, he does not pay attention to my prayers.
9 Li simen gwo wòch toupatou sou wout mwen. Kote m' vire, chak pa mwen fè, m' bite.
[It is as though] he has blocked my path with a [high] stone [wall] and has caused my path to become crooked.
10 Tankou yon lous, li biske kò l', l'ap veye m'. Tankou yon lyon, li kache, l'ap tann mwen.
He has waited to attack me like [SIM] a bear or a lion hides and waits [to attack other animals].
11 Li fè m' tonbe nan bwa. Li filange tout kò m'. Lèfini, li lage m'.
[It is as though] he has dragged me off the path and (mauled me/torn me into pieces), and left me without help.
12 Li mete flèch nan banza li, li vize. Se sou mwen l'ap voye yo.
[It is as though] [MET] he bent his bow and caused me to become the target [at which he shot] his arrows.
13 Li fè flèch li yo antre fon nan kò m'.
[It is as though] he shot his arrows deep into my body.
14 Tout moun nan peyi a ap pase m' nan betiz. Se toutan y'ap fè chante sou mwen.
All my relatives laugh at me; all day, [every] day they sing songs that make fun of me.
15 Li plen vant mwen ak manje anmè kou fyèl. Li fè m' bwè labsent jouk mwen sou.
He has filled me with (bitterness/great suffering), [like] [MET] someone who drinks a very bitter liquid suffers.
16 Li fwote tout figi m' atè, li fè m' kase dan m' nan wòch.
[It is as though] he has caused me to chew gravel that broke my teeth, and he has trampled me in the dirt.
17 Mwen pa konnen sa yo rele kè poze. Mwen bliye sa yo rele kè kontan.
Things no longer go well for me; I no longer remember being prosperous.
18 Mwen di: M' pa gen lontan pou m' viv ankò. M' pèdi tout espwa mwen te gen nan Bondye.
I [continued to] say [to myself], “I no longer expect to live much longer; I no longer confidently expect [to receive good things] from Yahweh!”
19 Lè m' chonje nan ki mizè mwen ye, jan m'ap mache pwonmennen san rete, se tankou yon labsent, yon fyèl m'ap vale.
When I think about my suffering and my wandering [away from home], [it is like drinking] a very bitter [DOU] liquid.
20 Wi, lè m' chonje sa, kè m' sere, m' santi kè m' ap rache
I will never forget this time when I feel very depressed/discouraged [IDM].
21 Men, mwen reprann kouraj lè m' chonje yon sèl bagay.
However, I confidently expect [Yahweh to do good things for me again] when I think about this:
22 Seyè a pa janm sispann renmen nou. L'ap toujou gen pitye pou nou.
Yahweh never stops faithfully loving [us], and he never stops being kind to us.
23 Tankou solèy la ki leve chak maten konsa tou l'ap toujou kenbe pawòl li.
[He is the one whom we can] always trust/lean on. Every morning he is merciful [to us again].
24 Mwen di: Se Seyè a ki tout mwen. Se nan li mwen mete tout espwa m'.
[So] I say to myself, “Yahweh is all that I need; so I will confidently wait for him [to do good things for me].”
25 Seyè a bon pou tout moun ki mete konfyans yo nan li, pou moun k'ap konte sou li.
Yahweh is good to [all] those who depend on him, to those who seek his [help].
26 Sa bon pou nou rete dousman ap tann li vin delivre nou.
[So] it is good for us to wait quietly for Yahweh to save/rescue [us].
27 Sa bon pou nou aprann sipòte depi nou tou jenn.
And it is good for us to [patiently] endure [suffering] while we are young.
28 Lè Bondye ap manyen ak nou, ann chita pou kont nou san di anyen.
Those [who seek his help] should sit by themselves, silently, [knowing that] it is Yahweh who has allowed/caused them to suffer.
29 Nou pa bezwen plenyen. Nou pa janm konnen, ka gen espwa toujou.
They should lie in the dirt, with their faces on the ground, [because] they can still hope [that Yahweh will help them].
30 Se pou n' pare figi n' pou n' pran souflèt. Se pou n' asepte tou sa yo fè nou.
If someone strikes us on one cheek, we should turn the other cheek toward that person [in order that he may strike it, too], and accept/endure it when we are insulted.
31 Bondye sèl Mèt la p'ap janm lage nou nèt.
Yahweh does not abandon [us his people] forever.
32 Li ka fè nou lapenn, men l'ap gen pitye pou nou paske li renmen nou anpil.
Sometimes he causes us to suffer, but sometimes he is kind [to us] because he continually and faithfully loves [us].
33 Li pa pran plezi nan fè nou soufri, ni nan ban nou lapenn.
And he is not happy about causing human beings to suffer or to be sad.
34 Atò, se konnen Seyè a, Bondye sèl Mèt la, pa konnen lè y'ap kraze prizonye anba baton,
If people (mistreat all the prisoners/crush all the prisoners under their feet)
35 lè yo derefize rekonèt dwa Bondye ban nou,
or if they rebel against God by refusing to give to people the things that it is right for them [to receive],
36 lè y'ap bay move jijman nan tribinal! Atò, se konnen li pa konnen!
or if they cause judges to decide matters unjustly, (does Yahweh not see all those things?/Yahweh certainly sees all those things!) [RHQ]
37 Depi Bondye Sèl Mèt la pale, se fini! Sa l' di se sak fèt.
No one can [RHQ] command something to happen [and then cause it to happen] if Yahweh has not already decided that it should happen.
38 Tou sa ki rive an byen osinon an mal, se li menm ki penmèt sa.
God in heaven [MTY] is [RHQ] the one who causes disasters to happen, and he [also] causes good things to happen.
39 Lè nou anba bwa pou peche nou yo sa nou bezwen plenyen fè!
[So] it is certainly not [RHQ] right for us, who are only humans, to complain when he punishes us for the sins that we have committed.
40 Annou gade jan n'ap mennen bak nou! Ann egzaminen byen jan n'ap viv la! Lèfini, ann tounen vin jwenn Bondye!
Instead, we should (examine/think carefully about) our behavior; we should turn back to Yahweh.
41 Ann leve bra nou nan syèl la, ann lapriyè nan pye l'!
We should pray [IDM] sincerely and lift up our arms toward God in heaven, [and say, ]
42 Nou peche, nou kenbe tèt avè ou! Men, ou menm ou pa padonnen nou.
“We have sinned and rebelled [against you], and you have not forgiven [us].
43 Ou move pi rèd, ou fann nan kò nou! Ou te san pitye. Ou touye nou.
You have surrounded us with your anger and pursued us; you have slaughtered [us] without pitying us.
44 Ou vlope kò ou nan yon gwo nwaj nwa pou lapriyè nou pa rive nan zòrèy ou.
You have hidden yourself in a cloud, with the result that you do not hear [us] when we pray.
45 Ou fè nou tounen yon depotwa, yon pil fatra nan mitan lòt nasyon sou latè yo.
You have caused [the people of other] nations to consider us to be only garbage [DOU].
46 Tout lènmi nou yo ap lave bouch yo sou nou.
All our enemies have insulted us.
47 N'ap viv ak kè sote, si se pa lanmò, se gwo danje, se gwo malè!
We are constantly afraid [DOU], [because] we have experienced disasters and ruin [DOU].”
48 De je m' yo ap ponpe dlo tankou larivyè, lè m' wè malè ki tonbe sou pèp mwen an!
I cry a lot because my people have been destroyed.
49 Dlo ap koule nan je m' san rete. Li p'ap janm sispann,
My tears continually flow; they will not stop
50 jouk jou Seyè a va rete nan syèl la, l'a voye je l' gade, l'a wè!
until Yahweh looks down from heaven and sees [us].
51 Wi, kè m' fè m' mal pou m' wè sa ki rive moun lavil mwen yo!
I am very grieved because of [what has happened to] the women of my city.
52 Yon bann moun ki pa vle wè m' san m' pa fè yo anyen pran kouri dèyè m' tankou yon zwazo y'ap chache pran.
Those who are my enemies hunted for me like [SIM] [people hunt for] a bird [to kill it] [even though] there was no reason [for them to do that].
53 Yo lage m' tou vivan nan yon twou. Yo fèmen bouch twou a ak wòch.
They threw me into a pit to kill me, and they threw stones on top of me.
54 Dlo te prèt pou kouvri tèt mwen. Mwen di: Fwa sa a m' pran!
The water [in the pit] rose above my head, and I said [to myself], “I am about to die/drown!”
55 Nan twou kote m' te ye a, Seyè, mwen rele ou!
But from the bottom of the pit I cried out to you [MTY], “Yahweh, [help me]!”
56 Ou tande vwa m'. Tanpri, pa bouche zòrèy ou lè m'ap lapriyè nan pye ou.
I pleaded with you, “Do not refuse to heed [MTY] me while I cry out to you!”
57 Wi, lè m' rele ou, ou pwoche. Ou di m' mwen pa bezwen pè!
Then you answered me and said, “Do not be afraid!”
58 Bondye Sèl Mèt, ou pran ka m' an konsiderasyon. Ou sove lavi m'.
Yahweh, you defended me; you did not allow me to die.
59 Seyè, ou wè tout lenjistis y'ap fè m'. Tanpri, defann kòz mwen.
[Now], Yahweh, you have seen the evil things that my enemies have done to me, [so] decide my case [and show that I am right]!
60 Ou wè jan yo soti pou pwofite sou mwen, jan y'ap fè konplo pou touye m'.
You know the evil things that they have planned to do to me.
61 Seyè, ou tande jan y'ap joure m'. Ou konnen konplo y'ap fè sou do m'.
Yahweh, you have heard them insult [me] and what they have planned to do to me.
62 Tout lajounen, y'ap pale sou mwen, y'ap fè plan.
Every day they whisper and mutter things about me, all day long.
63 Gade yo non! Depi maten jouk aswè yo chita ap fè chante sou do m'!
Look at them! Whether they are standing or sitting they make fun of me with the songs that they sing.
64 Seyè, se pou ou pini yo pou tou sa yo fè.
Yahweh, cause them to suffer in return for their causing [me] to suffer!
65 Madichonnen yo! Fè yo pèdi tèt yo!
Curse them [IDM] [for] their being very stubborn [IDM].
66 Move sou yo, Seyè! Pati dèyè yo! Disparèt yo sou latè!
Because you are angry with them, pursue them and get rid of them, [until none of them remain] on the earth.
