After Abimelech there arose to defend Israel, Tola, the sonne of Puah, the sone of Dodo, a man of Issachar, which dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim.

And the children of Israel wrought wickednesse againe in the sight of the Lord, and serued Baalim and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistims, and forsooke the Lord and serued not him.

Therefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he solde them into the hands of the Philistims, and into the handes of the children of Ammon:

Who from that yere vexed and oppressed the children of Israel eighteene yeres, euen all the children of Israel that were beyond Iorden, in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.
9 Moun Amon yo te menm rive janbe lòt bò larivyè Jouden an pou y' al goumen ak moun branch Jida yo, moun branch fanmi Benjamen yo ak moun branch fanmi Efrayim yo. Pèp Izrayèl la te nan gwo lapenn.
Moreouer, the children of Ammon went ouer Iorden to fight against Iudah, and against Beniamin, and against the house of Ephraim: so that Israel was sore tormented.
10 Lè sa a, yo rele nan pye Seyè a, yo di l' konsa: -Nou te peche kont ou, nou te vire do ba ou, ou menm Bondye nou an, n' al fè sèvis pou Baal yo.
Then the children of Israel cryed vnto the Lord, saying, We haue sinned against thee, euen because we haue forsaken our owne God, and haue serued Baalim.
11 Seyè a reponn pèp Izrayèl la: -Moun Lejip yo, moun Amori yo, moun Amon yo, moun Filisti yo,
And the Lord sayd vnto the children of Israel, Did not I deliuer you from the Egyptians and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon and from the Philistims?
12 moun Sidon yo, moun Amalèk yo ak moun Mawon yo t'ap peze nou nan tan lontan, nou te kriye nan pye m'. Eske mwen pa t' delivre nou anba men yo lè sa a?
The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites did oppresse you, and ye cryed to me and I saued you out of their hands.
13 Men chak fwa, nou vire do ban mwen pou n' al fè sèvis pou lòt bondye. Se poutèt sa mwen pa pral delivre nou fwa sa a ankò.
Yet ye haue forsaken me, and serued other gods: wherefore I will deliuer you no more.
14 Ale kriye nan pye bondye nou te chwazi yo! Se yo ki pou sove nou lè nou nan ka!
Goe, and cry vnto the gods which ye haue chosen: let them saue you in the time of your tribulation.
15 Men, moun pèp Izrayèl yo di Seyè a: -Nou fè sa nou pa t' dwe fè: Ou mèt fè nou sa ou vle. Men, tanpri delivre nou jòdi a!
And the children of Israel sayde vnto the Lord, We haue sinned: doe thou vnto vs whatsoeuer please thee: onely we pray thee to deliuer vs this day.
16 Apre sa, yo wete tout bondye lòt nasyon yo te gen lakay yo, yo pran sèvi Seyè a. Seyè a pa t' gen kè pou l' wè jan pèp Izrayèl la te nan lapenn.
Then they put away the strange gods from among them and serued the Lord: and his soule was grieued for the miserie of Israel.
17 Lè sa a, lame pèp Amon an sanble, y' al moute kan yo nan peyi Galarad. Lame pèp Izrayèl la menm te sanble tou, yo moute kan yo lavil Mispa.
Then the children of Ammon gathered themselues together, and pitched in Gilead: and the children of Israel assembled themselues, and pitched in Mizpeh.
18 Pèp peyi Galarad la ak chèf yo t'ap pale, yonn t'ap di lòt: -Moun ki pral mennen batay la kont moun Amon yo, se li menm ki pral chèf tout moun nan peyi Galarad!
And the people and princes of Gilead said one to another, Whosoeuer will beginne the battell against the children of Ammon, the same shall be head ouer all the inhabitants of Gilead.
