< Jenèz 18 >

1 Seyè a parèt devan Abraram bò pye bwadchenn Manmre yo.
And Yahweh appeared unto him among the oaks of Mamre, —as, he, was sitting at the opening of the tent in the heat of the day.
2 Abraram leve je l', li rete konsa li wè twa mesye kanpe devan li toupre pyebwa yo. Wè li wè yo, li leve nan papòt la, li kouri al jwenn yo, li bese tèt li jouk atè pou l' di yo bonjou.
And he lifted up his eyes and looked, and lo! three men, standing over against him, —so he looked and ran to meet them from the opening of the tent, and bowed himself to the earth;
3 Li di. Mèt, tanpri. Pa pase devan lakay mwen san ou pa fè yon ti rete. Se sèvitè ou mwen ye.
and said, —O My Lord! if, I pray thee, I have found favour in thine eyes, do not I pray thee pass on from thy servant.
4 Kite m' mande yo pote ti gout dlo pou lave pye ou. Lèfini, w'a pran yon ti repo anba pyebwa sa a.
Let there be fetched, I pray thee a little water, and bathe ye your feet, —and rest yourselves under the tree.
And let me fetch a morsel of bread, and stay ye your heart, Afterwards, ye may pass on, For on this account, have ye passed by, over against your servant. And they said, Thus, shalt thou do as thou hast spoken.
6 Abraram kouri lakay li, li ale jwenn Sara. Li di l' konsa. Fè vit. Pran trant liv farin bon kalite, mouye l', fè pen.
So Abraham hastened towards the tent unto Sarah, —and said, Hasten thou three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make hearth-cakes.
7 Apre sa, Abraram kouri al nan bann bèt li yo, li pran yon jenn ti bèf byen gra, li bay yonn nan domestik li yo li pou li prese al kòche l'.
And unto the herd, ran Abraham, —and took a calf tender and good and gave unto the young man, and he hastened to make it ready.
8 Apre sa, li pran fwomaj, li pran lèt fre, li mete yo ansanm ak vyann yo te pare a, li sèvi mesye yo. Pandan yo t'ap manje, Abraram te kanpe bò kote yo anba pyebwa a.
And he took butter and milk and the calf that he had made ready, and set before them, —while, he, was standing near them under the tree, they did eat.
9 Lèfini, yo mande l'. Kote Sara, madanm ou? Li reponn. Li la wi, anndan kay la.
And they said unto him, As to Sarah thy wife… And he said Lo! [she is] in the tent.
10 Yonn nan vizitè yo di l'. Mwen gen pou m' tounen isit la, lè konsa lanne k'ap vini an.
And he said, I will, surely return, unto thee at the quickening season, —and lo! a son for Sarah thy wife. Now Sarah, was hearkening at the opening of the tent, it, being behind him.
11 Abraram ak Sara te fin vye granmoun. Yo te antre nan laj. Sara te sispann gen lalen li.
But Abraham and Sarah, were old, far gone in days, —it had ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
12 Sara tonbe ri nan kè l', li t'ap di. Koulye a, kalite jan m' fin vye a, ou kwè lide m' ta sou gason toujou! Epitou, mari mwen, mèt mwen, fin granmoun!
So then Sarah laughed within herself, saying: After I am past age, hath there come to me pleasure, my lord, also being old?
13 Seyè a di Abraram. Sa ki gen la a pou Sara ri konsa, pou l'ap di nan kè l'. Eske mwen kapab fè pitit ankò, jan m' fin vye a?
And Yahweh said unto Abraham, —Wherefore now did Sarah laugh saying. Can it really and truly be that I should bear, seeing that I have become old?
14 Bon. Eske gen kichòy ki twòp la a pou Mèt la fè? Sou dat mwen fikse a, m'a tounen pase wè ou ankò. Lè sa a, Sara va gen yon pitit gason.
Is anything, too wonderful for Yahweh? At the appointed time, I will return unto thee, at the quickening season and Sarah, shall have a son.
15 Sara te pè, li t'ap plede, li t'ap di. Mwen pa t' ri non! Men Seyè a di l'. Men wi, machè, ou te ri.
And Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not, For she was afraid. And he said—Nay! but thou didst laugh!
16 Mesye yo leve, yo pati, yo mete tèt sou Sodòm. Yo rive kote yo te ka voye je yo gade anba pou wè Sodòm. Abraram menm t'ap mache ak yo. Li t'ap kondi yo mete pi devan sou wout la.
And the men rose up from thence, and looked out over the face of Sodom, —Abraham also going with them to set them on their way.
Now, Yahweh, had said, —Am I going to hide from Abraham what I do,
18 Pitit pitit li yo pral tounen yon gwo nasyon ki va gen pouvwa. Gremesi Abraram, tout nasyon sou latè pral jwenn benediksyon.
when, Abraham, shall surely become, a great and mighty nation, —and all the nations of the earth, shall be blessed in him?
19 Mwen te chwazi l' pou l' te pase pitit li yo ak tout rès fanmi l' k'ap vin apre li yo lòd pou yo mache nan chemen Seyè a met devan yo, pou yo fè sa ki kòrèk ak sa ki dwat devan Bondye. Se konsa m'a fè pou li tout sa mwen te pwomèt li a.
For I have become his intimate friend, To the end that he may command his sons and his house after him, so shall they keep the way of Yahweh, by doing righteousness and justice. To the end that Yahweh may bring in for Abraham, what he hath spoken concerning him.
20 Apre sa, Seyè a di. Se pa ti kras bagay y'ap di sou moun Sodòm ak moun Gomò, paske peche moun sa yo lou anpil.
So Yahweh said, The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah, because it hath become great, —And their sin, because it hath become exceeding grievous,
21 M'ap desann pou m' wè ak je mwen si sa y'ap di sou yo a se vre. Si se pa vre, m'a konnen.
Let me go down, pray, and let me behold, whether according to their outcry which hath come in unto me, they have done altogether, And if not. I must know!
22 Mesye yo pati, yo mete tèt sou Sodòm. Men, Seyè a te rete ak Abraram.
And the men turned from thence, and went their way, towards Sodom, —but, Yahweh was yet standing before Abraham.
23 Abraram pwoche bò kote Seyè a, li mande l'.
So then Abraham drew near and said, Wilt thou really sweep away, the righteous with the lawless?
Peradventure there are fifty righteous, in the midst of the city, Wilt thou really sweep away, and not spare the place, for the sake of the fifty righteous which are therein?
25 Aa! Pou di w'ap fè inonsan peri ak koupab? Se pa posib. Ou pa ka fè sa. Se lenjistis pou inonsan gen menm sò ak koupab. Non, sa pa ka fèt. Bondye k'ap jije tout moun sou tè a pa ka nan fè lenjistis.
Far be it from thee! to do after this manner. to put to death the righteous with the lawless! Then should righteous and lawless be alike, Far be it from thee! Shall, the Judge of all the earth not do justice?
26 Seyè a reponn.
And Yahweh said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous in the midst of the city, then will I spare all the place for their sake.
27 Abraram pale ankò, li di. Eskize m' wi!
And Abraham responded and said, —Behold I pray thee I have ventured to speak unto My Lord, though I am dust and ashes:
28 Men, si se karannsenk moun inonsan sèlman ou jwenn, èske ou pral detwi tout lavil la paske manke senk pou fè senkant lan? Seyè a reponn.
Peradventure there may lack, of the fifty righteous, five, Wilt thou destroy for five all the city? And he said, I will not destroy, if I find there forty and five.
29 Abraram pale ankò, li di. Ou pa janm konnen, ka gen karant inonsan ase? Seyè a reponn.
And he added, yet once more, to speak unto him, and said, Peradventure there may be found there—forty. And he said—I will not do it, for the sake of the forty.
Seyè a reponn.
And he said Let it not, I pray thee, be vexing to My Lord, but let me speak, Peradventure there may be found there—thirty And he said, I will not to it, if I find there—thirty.
31 Abraram di. Eskize m' wi, Seyè, si m' penmèt mwen pale toujou. Men, sipoze ou jwenn vin inonsan sèlman? Seyè a reponn li.
And he said Behold, I pray thee, I have ventured to speak unto My Lord, Peradventure there may be found there—twenty. And he said I will not destroy it, for the sake of the twenty.
32 Abraram di ankò. Tanpri, Seyè, pa fache sou mwen non. M'ap di yon dènye mo. Si ou jwenn dis inonsan ase? Seyè a reponn li.
And he said, Let it not, I pray thee, be vexing to My Lord, but let me speak only this once, Peradventure there may be found there—ten. And he said, I will not destroy [it], for the sake of the ten!
33 Apre li fin pale ak Abraram, Seyè a al fè wout li. Abraram menm tounen lakay li.
And Yahweh went his way, when he had made an end. of speaking unto Abraham, —Abraham, also returned to his place.
