< 2 Istwa 1 >
Seyè a, Bondye li a, te kanpe la avè l', li te ba li anpil pouvwa.
Solomon son of David was strengthened in his rule, and Yahweh his God was with him and made him very powerful.
2 Wa Salomon fè rele tout pèp Izrayèl la, kòmandan rejiman mil sòlda yo, kòmandan divizyon san sòlda yo, jij yo, tout anplwaye gouvènman an ak tout chèf fanmi yo.
Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every prince in all Israel, the heads of the fathers' houses.
3 Li ba yo lòd pou yo ale avè l' kote yo fè sèvis pou Bondye lavil Gabawon an, paske se la Tanp Randevou Bondye a te ye, tant Moyiz, sèvitè Seyè a, te fè lè yo te nan dezè a.
So Solomon and all the assembly with him went to the high place that was at Gibeon, for there was the tent of meeting of God, which Moses the servant of Yahweh, had made in the wilderness.
4 Men, David te fè yo pran Bwat Kontra a lavil Kiriyat-Jearim pou yo pote l' moute lavil Jerizalèm. Depi lè sa a, li te anba yon tant wa David te fè pou li.
But David had brought up the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim to the place that he had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.
5 Gwo lotèl kwiv Bezaleyèl, pitit Ouri, pitit pitit Our la, te fè a te lavil Gabawon tou devan Tant Randevou Seyè a. Se la wa Salomon ak tout pèp la vin pale ak Seyè a.
In addition, the bronze altar made by Bezalel son of Uri son of Hur was there before the tabernacle of Yahweh; Solomon and the assembly went to it.
6 Devan Tant Randevou Seyè a, Salomon moute sou lotèl kwiv la, li touye mil bèt li fè boule nèt sou lotèl la.
Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before Yahweh, which was at the tent of meeting, and offered one thousand burnt offerings on it.
God appeared to Solomon that night and said to him, “Ask! What should I give you?”
Solomon said to God, “You have shown great covenant faithfulness to David my father, and have made me king in his place.
9 O Seyè, Bondye, kenbe pwomès ou te fè papa m' lan! Ou mete m' wa pou m' gouvènen yon pèp ki gen anpil anpil moun ladan l'. Yo pi plis pase grenn pousyè tè.
Now, Yahweh God, let your promise to David my father be carried out, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.
Now give me wisdom and knowledge, so that I may lead this people, for who can judge your people, who are so many in number?”
God said to Solomon, “Because this was in your heart, and because you have not asked for riches, wealth, or honor, nor for the life of those who hate you, nor for long life for yourself, but you have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself, so that you might rule my people, over whom I have made you king, and this is what I will do.
12 M'ap ba ou konesans ak bon konprann. Men an plis, m'ap ba ou richès, byen ak lwanj pase tout wa ki te la anvan ou, pase tout wa ki va vin apre ou.
I will now give you wisdom and knowledge. I will also give you riches, wealth, and honor, as none of the kings had before you, and none after you will have.”
13 Apre sa, Salomon kite kote yo konn fè sèvis pou Bondye lavil Gabawon an, kote Tant Randevou a te ye a, li tounen lavil Jerizalèm. Se la li gouvènen pèp Izrayèl la.
So Solomon came to Jerusalem from the high place that was at Gibeon, from before the tent of meeting; he reigned over Israel.
14 Li te sanble milkatsan (1.400) cha lagè ak douzmil (12.000) chwal pou sòlda kavalye li yo. Li mete yon pòsyon ladan yo nan lavil li te fè bati espre pou yo. Rès yo, li mete yo toupre l' lavil Jerizalèm.
Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen, and he had 1,400 chariots and twelve thousand horsemen that he placed in the chariot cities, and with himself, the king in Jerusalem.
The king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as the stones, and he made cedar wood as common as the sycamore trees that are in the lowlands.
16 Chwal Salomon yo te soti nan peyi Moukri ak nan peyi Silisi. Wa a te gen moun pa l' ki te konn al achte chwal yo la pou li.
As for the importation of horses from Egypt and Kue for Solomon, his merchants bought them from Kue at a price.
17 Chak cha lagè yo te achte nan peyi Lejip te koute sisan (600) pyès ajan, chak chwal te koute sansenkant (150) pyès ajan. Se menm moun sa yo ki te konn al achte pou revann wa peyi Et yo ak wa peyi Siri yo.
They imported a chariot from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for 150 shekels. They also exported them to the kings of the Hittites and the Arameans.
