સફન્યા 1
1 ૧ યહૂદિયાના રાજાની, એટલે આમોનના દીકરા યોશિયાની કારકિર્દીમાં, હિઝકિયાના દીકરા અમાર્યાના દીકરા ગદાલ્યાના દીકરા કૂશીના દીકરા સફાન્યા પાસે આ પ્રમાણે યહોવાહનું વચન આવ્યું.
The word of the Lord which came unto Zephanyah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedalyah, the son of Amaryah, the son of Chizkiyah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon the king of Judah.
I will remove, utterly remove all things from off the face of the earth, saith the Lord.
3 ૩ હું માણસ તથા પશુઓનો નાશ કરીશ. હું આકાશના પક્ષીઓને તથા સમુદ્રની માછલીઓને પણ નષ્ટ કરીશ, અને દુષ્ટોની સાથે ઠોકર ખવડાવનારી વસ્તુઓનો પણ વિનાશ કરીશ. કેમ કે પૃથ્વીની સપાટી પરથી હું માણસનો નાશ કરીશ,” એવું યહોવાહ કહે છે.
I will remove man and beast; I will remove the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumbling blocks together with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the face of the earth, saith the Lord.
4 ૪ “હું મારો હાથ યહૂદિયા તથા યરુશાલેમના બધા રહેવાસીઓ પર લંબાવીશ, અને હું આ જગ્યાએથી બઆલના શેષનો તથા વ્યભિચારીઓના નામનો તથા યાજકોનો અંત લાવીશ.
And I will stretch out my hand over Judah, and over all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Ba'al from this place, the name of his ministers with his priests;
5 ૫ તેઓ ઘરની અગાશી પર જઈને આકાશના સૈન્યની ભક્તિ કરે છે, અને યહોવાહની સેવા કરનારાઓ અને સમ ખાનારાઓ છતાં માલ્કામને નામે પણ સમ ખાય છે.
And those that bow themselves down on the roofs of houses to the host of heaven; and those that bow themselves down that are sworn [to be true] to the Lord and still swear by Malkom;
6 ૬ જે લોકો યહોવાહને અનુસરવાથી પાછા ફર્યા છે, જેઓ મને શોધતા કે મારી સલાહ લેતા નથી તેઓનો હું નાશ કરીશ.”
And those that are turned away from following the Lord; and those that have not sought for the Lord, and have not inquired of him.
7 ૭ પ્રભુ યહોવાહની સંમુખ શાંત રહો, કેમ કે યહોવાહનો દિવસ પાસે છે; યહોવાહે યજ્ઞ તૈયાર કર્યો છે તથા પોતાના અતિથિઓને પવિત્ર કર્યાં છે.
Be silent in the presence of the Lord Eternal; for nigh is the day of the Lord; for the Lord hath prepared a slaughter, he hath bidden his invited guests.
8 ૮ “યહોવાહના યજ્ઞના દિવસે એવું થશે કે, હું અમલદારોને, રાજકુમારોને, તેમ જ જેઓએ પરદેશી વસ્ત્રો પહરેલાં હશે તે દરેકને શિક્ષા કરીશ.
And it shall come to pass on the day of the Lord's slaughter, that I will inflict punishment on the princes, and on the king's sons, and on all such as are clothed in garments of a foreign land.
9 ૯ જેઓ ઉંબરો કૂદી જઈને, પોતાના માલિકનું ઘર હિંસાથી અને કપટથી ભરે છે તે સર્વને હું તે દિવસે શિક્ષા કરીશ.”
And I will inflict punishment on all those that leap over the threshold on that day, who fill the house of their master with violence and deceit.
10 ૧૦ યહોવાહ કહે છે કે, “તે દિવસે મચ્છી દરવાજેથી આપત્તિના પોકાર થશે, બીજા મહોલ્લામાં રુદન થશે, અને ડુંગરોમાંથી મોટા કડાકા સંભળાશે.
And it shall come to pass on that day, saith the Lord, that there shall be a loud cry of lamentation from the fish-gate, and a wailing from the second, and [that of] a great breach from the hills.
11 ૧૧ માખ્તેશના રહેવાસીઓ વિલાપ કરો, કેમ કે બધા વેપારીઓ નાશ પામ્યા છે; ચાંદીથી લદાયેલા સર્વનો નાશ થશે.
Wail, ye inhabitants of the mortar-street, for destroyed are all the trading people; cut off are all that were laden with silver.
12 ૧૨ તે સમયે એવું થશે કે, જેઓ પોતાના દ્રાક્ષારસમાં સ્થિર થયા હશે અને પોતાના મનમાં કહેશે કે, ‘યહોવાહ અમારું કશું ખરાબ કે ભલું નહિ કરે’ એવું માનનારા માણસોને, તે વખતે હું દીવો લઈને યરુશાલેમમાંથી શોધી કાઢીશ અને શિક્ષા કરીશ.
And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem through with lights; and I will inflict punishment on the men that are at rest on their lees, that say in their heart, The Lord will not do good, nor will he do evil.
13 ૧૩ તેમનું ધન લૂંટાઈ જશે, અને તેમનાં ઘરોનો નાશ થશે! તેઓ ઘરો બાંધશે પણ તેમાં રહેવા પામશે નહિ, દ્રાક્ષવાડીઓ રોપશે પણ તેનો દ્રાક્ષારસ પીવા પામશે નહિ!
And their wealth shall become a booty, and their houses shall be made desolate; and they will build houses, but they shall not inhabit them; and they will plant vineyards, but they shall not drink their wine.
14 ૧૪ યહોવાહનો મહાન દિવસ નજીક છે, તે નજીક છે અને બહુ ઝડપથી આવે છે. યહોવાહના દિવસનો સાદ સંભળાય છે, તે વખતે યોદ્ધાઓ પોક મૂકીને રડે છે.
Nigh is the great day of the Lord, it is nigh, and hasteneth greatly, [there is] the noise of the day of the Lord: bitterly crieth there the mighty man.
15 ૧૫ તે દિવસ કોપનો દિવસ, દુ: ખ તથા સંકટનો દિવસ, વિનાશનો તથા આફતનો દિવસ, અંધકાર તથા ધૂંધળાપણાનો દિવસ, વાદળો તથા અંધકારનો દિવસ છે.
A day of wrath is that day, a day of distress and anxiety, a day of wasting and desolation, a day of darkness and obscurity, a day of clouds and tempestuous gloom,
A day of the cornet and alarm, against the fenced cities, and against the high battlements.
17 ૧૭ કેમ કે હું માણસો ઉપર એવી આપત્તિ લાવીશ કે, તેઓ દ્રષ્ટિહીન માણસની જેમ ચાલશે, કેમ કે તેઓએ યહોવાહની વિરુદ્ધ પાપ કર્યુ છે. તેઓનું લોહી ધૂળની માફક વહેશે અને તેઓનાં શરીર છાણની જેમ ફેંકી દેવામાં આવશે.
And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk about like the blind, because against the Lord have they sinned: and their blood shall be poured out like the dust, and their flesh like the dung.
18 ૧૮ યહોવાહના કોપના દિવસે તેઓનું સોનું કે ચાંદી તેઓને ઉગારી શકશે નહિ, આખી પૃથ્વી યહોવાહના પ્રચંડ રોષના અગ્નિથી ભસ્મીભૂત થઈ જશે. પૃથ્વી પરના સર્વ રહેવાસીઓનો અંતે, ઝડપી વિનાશ થશે.”
Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them on the day of the Lord's wrath; through the fire of whose zeal the whole land shall be devoured; for destruction, yea, quite sudden, will he prepare for all the inhabitants of the land.
