< ગીતશાસ્ત્ર 59 >

1 ૧ મુખ્ય ગવૈયાને માટે; રાગ આલ-તાશ્ખેથ. દાઉદનું મિખ્તામ. શાઉલે મોકલેલા માણસોએ તેને મારવાને ઘરની ચોકી કરી, તે વખતનું. હે મારા ઈશ્વર, મારા શત્રુઓથી મને છોડાવો; મારી વિરુદ્ધ જેઓ ઊઠે છે, તેઓથી તમે મને ઉગારો.
“To the chief musician, Al-tashcheth, by David, a Michtham, when Saul sent, and they watched the house to put him to death.” Deliver me from my enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.
2 ૨ દુષ્ટતા કરનારાઓથી મને દૂર રાખો અને ખૂની માણસોથી મને બચાવો.
Deliver me from the workers of wickedness, and from men of blood do thou save me.
3 ૩ કેમ કે, જુઓ, તેઓ મારો પ્રાણ લેવા સંતાઈ રહ્યા છે; શક્તિશાળી દુષ્ટો મારી સામે એકત્ર થાય છે, પણ, હે યહોવાહ, મારા ઉલ્લંઘન કે મારાં પાપને લીધે આ થાય છે, એમ નથી.
For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul, the mighty are gathered in troops against me: not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Lord.
4 ૪ જો કે મારો કંઈ પણ દોષ ન હોવા છતાં તેઓ દોડી આવીને તૈયારી કરે છે; મને સહાય કરવાને જાગો અને જુઓ.
Without guilt [in me] they run and make themselves ready: awake, [come] toward me, and behold.
5 ૫ તમે, હે સૈન્યોના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ, ઇઝરાયલના ઈશ્વર, તમે સર્વ દેશોને શિક્ષા કરવાને ઊઠો; કોઈ પણ દુષ્ટ અપરાધીઓ પર તમે દયા કરશો નહિ. (સેલાહ)
And thou, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to punish all the nations: be not gracious to any treacherous wicked one. (Selah)
6 ૬ તેઓ સાંજના સમયે પાછા આવે છે, અને તેઓ કૂતરાની જેમ ઘૂરકે છે; અને નગરની આસપાસ ફરે છે.
They will return at evening; they will howl like dogs, and go round about the city.
7 ૭ જુઓ, તેઓ પોતાના મુખથી ઓડકાર લે છે; તેઓના હોઠોમાં તલવારો છે, કેમ કે તેઓ કહે છે કે, “અમારું સાંભળનાર કોણ છે?”
Behold, they sputter with their mouth: swords are in their lips; for who, [say they, ] doth hear?
8 ૮ પણ, હે યહોવાહ, તમે તેઓને હસી કાઢશો; તમે સર્વ દેશોની મજાક ઉડાવો છો.
But thou, O Lord, wilt laugh at theme: thou wilt hold in derision all the nations.
9 ૯ હે ઈશ્વર, મારા સામર્થ્ય, હું તમારી તરફ લક્ષ રાખીશ; તમે મારો ઊંચો ગઢ છો.
Because of [the enemy's] strength will I wait upon thee; for God is my defence.
10 ૧૦ મારા ઈશ્વર તેમની કૃપાથી મને મળવા આવશે; ઈશ્વર મારા શત્રુઓ ઉપર મને મારી ઇચ્છા પૂરી કરવા દેશે.
The God who showeth me kindness will go before me: God will let me see [my desire] upon those who regard me with envy.
11 ૧૧ તેઓનો સંહાર કરશો નહિ, નહિ તો મારા લોકો ભૂલી જશે; હે પ્રભુ, અમારી ઢાલ, તમારી શક્તિ વડે તેઓને વિખેરીને નીચે પાડી નાખો.
Slay them not, that my people may not forget: drive them about by thy power; and bring them down, thou our shield, O Lord.
12 ૧૨ કેમ કે તેઓના મુખના પાપને લીધે અને તેઓના હોઠોના શબ્દોને લીધે, તેઓ જે શાપ દે છે અને જે જૂઠું બોલે છે, તેને લીધે તેઓને પોતાના જ અભિમાનમાં ફસાઈ જવા દો.
The sin of their mouth is the word of their lips: let them be caught through their pride, because of the cursing and lying which they relate.
13 ૧૩ કોપથી તેઓનો નાશ કરો, નાશ કરો, કે જેથી તેઓ રહે જ નહિ; તેઓને જણાવો કે ઈશ્વર યાકૂબમાં રાજ કરે છે અને પૃથ્વીના અંત સુધી પણ રાજ કરે છે. (સેલાહ)
Make an end in fury, make an end [of them], that they my be no more, and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob, as far as the ends of the earth. (Selah)
14 ૧૪ સાંજે તેઓ પાછા આવો; તેઓ કૂતરાની જેમ ઘૂરકો અને નગરની આસપાસ ફરો.
And they will return in the evening; they will howl like dogs, and go round about the city.
15 ૧૫ તેઓ અહીંતહીં ખાવા માટે ફરતા ફરશે અને જો તેઓ સંતોષી ન હોય તો આખી રાત તેઓ રાહ જોશે.
They will indeed roam about after something to eat, if they be not satisfied, so that they can be at rest.
16 ૧૬ પણ હું તો તમારા સામર્થ્યનું ગીત ગાઈશ; અને મારા સંકટના સમયે ભરોસો રાખીશ, કેમ કે તમે મારે માટે ઊંચો ગઢ છો.
But I will truly sing of thy strength; yea, I will sing joyfully in the morning of thy kindness; for thou hast been a defence unto me and a refuge on the day when I was distressed.
17 ૧૭ હે મારા સામર્થ્ય, હું તમારાં સ્તોત્રો ગાઈશ; કેમ કે ઈશ્વર મારે માટે ઊંચો ગઢ અને મારા પર કૃપા કરનાર ઈશ્વર છે.
Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing; for God is my defence, the God of my kindness.
