ગીતશાસ્ત્ર 57
1 ૧ મુખ્ય ગવૈયાને માટે; રાગ આલ તાશ્ખેથ. દાઉદનું મિખ્તામ. તે શાઉલથી નાસી જઈ ગુફામાં રહેતો તે વખતનું. હે ઈશ્વર, મારા પર દયા કરો, મારા પર દયા કરો, કેમ કે મારો આત્મા તમારા પર ભરોસો રાખે છે જ્યાં સુધી આ વિપત્તિઓ થઈ રહે.
“For the leader of the music. To be sung to the tune of “Do not destroy.” A psalm of David, when he fled from Saul in the cave.” Have pity upon me, O God! have pity upon me, For in thee doth my soul seek refuge! Yea, in the shadow of thy wings do I take shelter, Until these calamities be overpast!
I call upon God the Most High, Upon God, who performeth all things for me;
3 ૩ જ્યારે માણસ મને ગળી જવા ચાહે છે, તે મારી નિંદા કરે છે, ત્યારે ઈશ્વર આકાશમાંથી સહાય મોકલીને મને બચાવશે; (સેલાહ) તે પોતાનાં કરારનું વિશ્વાસુપણું અને તેની સત્યતા ને મારા પર મોકલશે.
He will send from heaven, and save me; He will put to shame him that panteth for my life; (Pause) God will send forth his mercy and his truth.
4 ૪ મારો આત્મા સિંહોની મધ્યે છે; અગ્નિથી સળગેલા સાથે મારે સૂઈ રહેવું પડે છે, માણસોના દીકરાઓ, જેઓના દાંત ભાલા તથા બાણ જેવા છે અને તેઓની જીભ તીક્ષ્ણ તલવાર જેવી છે.
My life is in the midst of lions; I dwell among them that breathe out fire; Among men whose teeth are spears and arrows, And whose tongue is a sharp sword.
Exalt thyself, O God! above the heavens, And thy glory above all the earth!
6 ૬ તેઓએ મારા પગને સારુ જાળ બિછાવી છે; મારો આત્મા નમી ગયો છે; તેઓએ મારી આગળ ખાડો ખોદ્યો છે, પણ તેઓ પોતે જ તેમાં પડી ગયા છે. (સેલાહ)
They have prepared a net for my steps; My soul is bowed down; They have digged a pit before me, But into it they have themselves fallen.
My heart is strengthened, O God! my heart is strengthened! I will sing, and give thanks.
Awake, my soul! awake, psaltery and harp! I will wake with the early dawn.
I will praise thee, O Lord! among the nations; I will sing to thee among the kingdoms!
For thy mercy reacheth to the heavens, And thy truth to the clouds!
Exalt thyself, O God! above the heavens, And thy glory above all the earth!
