ગીતશાસ્ત્ર 51

1 ૧ મુખ્ય ગવૈયાને માટે. દાઉદનું ગીત; બાથશેબાની પાસે ગયા પછી તેની પાસે નાથાન પ્રબોધક આવ્યો, તે વખતનું. હે ઈશ્વર, તમારી કૃપા પ્રમાણે મારા પર દયા કરો; તમારી પુષ્કળ કૃપાથી મારા અપરાધો માફ કરો.

For the end, a Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came to him, when he had gone to Bersabee. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy great mercy; and according to the multitude of thy compassions blot out my transgression.

2 ૨ મારા અપરાધથી મને પૂરો ધૂઓ અને મારા પાપોથી મને શુદ્ધ કરો.

Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

3 ૩ કેમ કે હું મારા અપરાધો જાણું છું અને મારું પાપ નિત્ય મારી આગળ છે.

For I am conscious of mine iniquity; and my sin is continually before me.

4 ૪ તમારી, હા, તમારી જ વિરુદ્ધ મેં પાપ કર્યું છે અને જે તમારી દ્રષ્ટિમાં ખરાબ છે તે મેં કર્યું છે; તેથી જ્યારે તમે બોલો, ત્યારે તમે ન્યાયી ઠરો; અને તમે ન્યાય કરો, ત્યારે તમે નિર્દોષ ઠરો.

Against thee only have I sinned, and done evil before thee: that thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

5 ૫ જુઓ, હું અન્યાયીપણામાં જન્મ્યો હતો; મારી માતાએ પાપમાં મારો ગર્ભ ધારણ કર્યો હતો.

For, behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and in sins did my mother conceive me.

6 ૬ તમે તમારા હૃદયમાં અંત: કરણની સત્યતા માગો છો; મારા હૃદયને તમે ડહાપણ શીખવશો.

For, behold, thou lovest truth: thou hast manifested to me the secret and hidden things of thy wisdom.

7 ૭ ઝુફાથી મને ધોજો એટલે હું શુદ્ધ થઈશ; મને નવડાવો એટલે હું હિમ કરતાં સફેદ થઈશ.

Thou shalt sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be purified: thou shalt wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow.

8 ૮ મને હર્ષ તથા આનંદ સંભળાવો એટલે જે હાડકાં તમે ભાંગ્યાં છે તેઓ આનંદ કરે.

Thou shalt cause me to hear gladness and joy: the afflicted bones shall rejoice.

9 ૯ મારાં પાપ તરફ નજર ન કરો અને મારા સર્વ અન્યાય ક્ષમા કરો.

Turn away thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10 ૧૦ હે ઈશ્વર, મારામાં શુદ્ધ હૃદય ઉત્પન્ન કરો અને મારા આત્માને નવો અને દ્રઢ કરો.

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit in my inward parts.

11 ૧૧ મને તમારી સંમુખથી દૂર ન કરો અને તમારો પવિત્ર આત્મા મારી પાસેથી લઈ લેશો નહિ.

Cast me not away from thy presence; and remove not thy holy Spirit from me.

12 ૧૨ તમારા ઉદ્ધારનો હર્ષ મને પાછો આપો અને ઉદાર આત્માએ કરીને મને નિભાવી રાખો.

Restore to me the joy of thy salvation: establish me with thy directing Spirit.

13 ૧૩ ત્યારે હું ઉલ્લંઘન કરનારાઓને તમારા માર્ગ શીખવીશ અને પાપીઓ તમારા તરફ ફરશે.

[Then] will I teach transgressors thy ways; and ungodly men shall turn to thee.

14 ૧૪ હે ઈશ્વર, મારા ઉદ્ધારનાર, ખૂનના દોષથી મને માફ કરો અને હું મારી જીભે તમારા ન્યાયીપણા વિષે મોટેથી ગાઈશ.

Deliver me from blood-guiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation: [and] my tongue shall joyfully declare thy righteousness.

15 ૧૫ હે પ્રભુ, તમે મારા હોઠ ઉઘાડો એટલે મારું મુખ તમારી સ્તુતિ પ્રગટ કરશે.

O Lord, thou shalt open my lips; and my mouth shall declare thy praise.

16 ૧૬ કેમ કે તમે બલિદાનોથી રીઝતા નથી, નહિ તો હું તે અર્પણ કરત; તમે દહનીયાર્પણથી આનંદ પામતા નથી.

For if thou desiredst sacrifice, I would have given [it]: thou wilt not take pleasure in whole-burnt-offerings.

17 ૧૭ હે ઈશ્વર, મારો બલિદાનો તો રાંક મન છે; હે ઈશ્વર, તમે રાંક અને નમ્ર હૃદયને ધિક્કારશો નહિ.

Sacrifice to God is a broken spirit: a broken and humbled heart God will not despise.

18 ૧૮ તમે કૃપા કરીને સિયોનનું ભલું કરો; યરુશાલેમના કોટોને ફરી બાંધો.

Do good, O Lord, to Sion in thy good pleasure; and let the walls of Jerusalem be built.

19 ૧૯ પછી ન્યાયીપણાના બલિદાનોથી, દહનાર્પણ તથા સર્વ દહનીયાર્પણથી તમે આનંદ પામશો; પછી તેઓ તમારી વેદી પર બળદોનું અર્પણ કરશે.

Then shalt thou be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, offering, and whole-burnt-sacrifices: then shall they offer calves upon thine altar.
