ગીતશાસ્ત્ર 49

1 ૧ મુખ્ય ગવૈયાને માટે; કોરાના દીકરાઓનું ગીત. હે સર્વ લોકો, તમે આ સાંભળો; હે વિશ્વાસીઓ, કાન ધરો.

For the end, a Psalm for the sons of Core. Hear these words, all ye nations, hearken, all ye that dwell upon the earth:

2 ૨ નિમ્ન અને ઉચ્ચ બન્ને, શ્રીમંત તથા દરિદ્રી, તમે સર્વ ધ્યાન આપો.

both the sons of mean men, and sons of [great] men; the rich and poor [man] together.

3 ૩ હું મારે મુખે બુદ્ધિ વિષે બોલીશ અને મારા હૃદયના વિચારો ડહાપણ વિષે હશે.

My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall bring [forth] understanding.

4 ૪ હું દ્રષ્ટાંત પર કાન લગાડીશ; વીણા પર મારો મર્મ ખોલીશ.

I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my riddle on the harp.

5 ૫ જ્યારે મારી આસપાસ અન્યાય થાય અને મને શત્રુઓ ઘેરી લે, ત્યારે એવા દુષ્ટોના દિવસોમાં હું શા માટે બીહું?

Wherefore should I fear in the evil day? the iniquity of my heel shall compass me.

6 ૬ જેઓ પોતાની સંપત્તિ પર ભરોસો રાખે છે અને પોતાના પુષ્કળ દ્રવ્યનું અભિમાન કરે છે.

They that trust in their strength, and boast themselves in the multitude of their wealth—

7 ૭ તેઓમાંનો કોઈ પોતાના ભાઈને કોઈ પણ રીતે બચાવી શકતો નથી અથવા તેના બદલામાં ઈશ્વરને ખંડણી આપી શકતો નથી.

A brother does not redeem, shall a man redeem? he shall not give to God a ransom for himself,

8 ૮ કેમ કે તેના પ્રાણની કિંમત મોટી છે અને એ વિચાર તેણે સદાને માટે છોડી દેવો જોઈએ.

or the price of the redemption of his soul, though he labour for ever,

9 ૯ તે સદાકાળ જીવતો રહે કે જેથી તેનું શરીર કબરમાં દફનાવાય નહિ.

and live to the end, [so] that he should not see corruption.

10 ૧૦ કેમ કે તે જુએ છે કે બુદ્ધિવંત માણસો મરણ પામે છે; મૂર્ખ તથા અસભ્ય જેવા સાથે નાશ પામે છે અને પારકાઓને માટે પોતાનું ધન મૂકીને જાય છે.

When he shall see wise men dying, the fool and the senseless one shall perish together; and they shall leave their wealth to strangers.

11 ૧૧ તેઓના કબરો સદા માટે તેઓના ઘર રહેશે અને અમારાં રહેઠાણ પેઢી દરપેઢી રહેશે; તેઓ પોતાની જાગીરોને પોતાનાં નામ આપે છે.

And their sepulchres are their houses for ever, [even] their tabernacles to all generations: they have called their lands after their own names.

12 ૧૨ પણ માણસ ધનવાન હોવા છતાં, ટકી રહેવાનો નથી; તે નાશવંત પશુના જેવો છે.

And man being in honour, understands not: he is compared to the senseless cattle, and is like to them.

13 ૧૩ આપમતિયા માણસોનો માર્ગ મૂર્ખ જ છે; તેમ છતાં તેઓના પછીના લોકો તેઓનો બોલ પસંદ કરે છે. (સેલાહ)

This their way is an offence to them: yet afterwards men will commend their sayings. (Pause)

14 ૧૪ તેમને શેઓલમાં લઈ જવાના ટોળાં જેવા ઠરાવવામાં આવશે; મૃત્યુ તેઓનો ઘેટાંપાળક થશે; તેઓ સીધા કબર તરફ ઉતરશે; તેઓનું સૌંદર્ય શેઓલમાં એવું નાશ પામશે કે, ત્યાં કોઈ બાકી રહેશે નહિ. (Sheol h7585)

They have laid [them] as sheep in Hades; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning, and their help shall fail in Hades from their glory. (Sheol h7585)

15 ૧૫ પણ ઈશ્વર મારા આત્માને શેઓલના નિયંત્રણમાંથી છોડાવી લેશે; તે મારો અંગીકાર કરશે. (સેલાહ) (Sheol h7585)

But God shall deliver my soul from the power of Hades, when he shall receive me. (Pause) (Sheol h7585)

16 ૧૬ જ્યારે કોઈ ધનવાન થાય છે, જ્યારે તેના ઘરનો વૈભવ વધી જાય, ત્યારે તું ગભરાઈશ નહિ.

Fear not when a man is enriched, and when the glory of his house is increased.

17 ૧૭ કેમ કે જ્યારે તે મૃત્યુ પામે, ત્યારે તે પોતાની સાથે કંઈ લઈ જવાનો નથી; તેનો વૈભવ તેની પાછળ જવાનો નથી.

For he shall take nothing when he dies; neither shall his glory descend with him.

18 ૧૮ જ્યારે તે જીવતો હતો, ત્યારે તે પોતાના આત્માને આશીર્વાદ આપતો હતો અને જ્યારે તું તારું પોતાનું ભલું કરે છે, ત્યારે માણસો તારાં વખાણ કરે છે.

For his soul shall be blessed in his life: he shall give thanks to thee when thou dost well to him.

19 ૧૯ તે પોતાના પૂર્વજોના પિતૃઓની પાસે ચાલ્યો જાય છે; પછી તેઓ જીવનનું અજવાળું ક્યારેય પણ નહિ જુએ.

[Yet] he shall go in to the generation of his fathers; he shall never see light.

20 ૨૦ જે માણસ ધનવાન છે, પણ જેને આત્મિક સમજ નથી તે નાશવંત પશુ સમાન છે.

Man that is in honour, understands not: he is compared to the senseless cattle, and is like them.
