ગીતશાસ્ત્ર 139

1 ૧ મુખ્ય ગવૈયાને માટે, દાઉદનું ગીત. હે યહોવાહ, તમે મારા હૃદયની પરીક્ષા કરી છે અને તમે મને ઓળખો છો.

To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Jehovah, thou hast searched me, and known [me].

2 ૨ મારું બેસવું તથા મારું ઊઠવું તમે જાણો છો; તમે મારા વિચારો વેગળેથી સમજો છો.

Thou knowest my down-sitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off;

3 ૩ જ્યારે હું સૂઈ જાઉં છું, ત્યારે તમે મારા માર્ગોનું અવલોકન કરો છો; તમે મારા બધા માર્ગોના માહિતગાર છો.

Thou searchest out my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways;

4 ૪ કેમ કે, હે યહોવાહ, તમે મારા મુખની બધી વાતો પૂરેપૂરી જાણો છો.

For there is not yet a word on my tongue, [but] lo, O Jehovah, thou knowest it altogether.

5 ૫ તમે આગળ પાછળ મને ઘેરી લીધો છે અને તમે તમારા હાથે મને પકડી રાખ્યો છે.

Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thy hand upon me.

6 ૬ આવું ડહાપણ તો મને આશ્ચર્ય પમાડનારું છે; તે અતિ ઉચ્ચ છે અને હું તેને સમજી શકતો નથી.

O knowledge too wonderful for me! it is high, I cannot [attain] unto it.

7 ૭ તમારા આત્મા પાસેથી હું ક્યાં જાઉં? તમારી હાજરીમાંથી હું ક્યાં નાસી જાઉં?

Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? and whither flee from thy presence?

8 ૮ જો હું આકાશોમાં ચઢી જાઉં, તો તમે ત્યાં છો; જો હું શેઓલમાં મારી પથારી નાખું, તો ત્યાં પણ તમે છો. (Sheol h7585)

If I ascend up into the heavens thou art there; or if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, thou [art there]; (Sheol h7585)

9 ૯ જો હું પરોઢિયાની પાંખો લઈને સમુદ્રને પેલે પાર જઈને વસું,

[If] I take the wings of the dawn [and] dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

10 ૧૦ તો ત્યાં પણ તમારો હાથ મને દોરશે તમારો જમણો હાથ મને પકડી રાખશે.

Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

11 ૧૧ જો હું કહું, “અંધકાર તો નિશ્ચે મને ઢાંકશે અને રાત મારી આસપાસ અજવાળારૂપ થશે;”

And if I say, Surely darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night;

12 ૧૨ અંધકાર પણ મને તમારાથી સંતાડી શકતો નથી. રાત દિવસની જેમ પ્રકાશે છે, કેમ કે અંધારું અને અજવાળું બન્ને તમારી આગળ સમાન છે.

Even darkness hideth not from thee, and the night shineth as the day: the darkness is as the light.

13 ૧૩ તમે મારું અંતઃકરણ ઘડ્યું છે; મારી માતાના ઉદરમાં તમે મારી રચના કરી છે.

For thou hast possessed my reins; thou didst cover me in my mother's womb.

14 ૧૪ હું તમારો આભાર માનીશ, કેમ કે તમારાં કાર્યો અદ્દભુત અને આશ્ચર્યજનક છે. તમે મારા જીવન વિષે સઘળું જાણો છો.

I will praise thee, for I am fearfully, wonderfully made. Marvellous are thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well.

15 ૧૫ જ્યારે મને અદ્રશ્ય રીતે રચવામાં આવ્યો, જ્યારે પૃથ્વીના ઊંડાણોમાં વિવિધ કરામતથી મને ગોઠવવામાં આવ્યો, ત્યારે પણ મારું શરીર તમારાથી અજાણ્યું ન હતું.

My bones were not hidden from thee when I was made in secret, curiously wrought in the lower parts of the earth.

16 ૧૬ ગર્ભમાં પણ તમે મને નિહાળ્યો છે; મારું એકે અંગ થયેલું ન હતું, ત્યારે તેઓ સર્વ, તેમ જ તેઓના ઠરાવેલા સમયો તમારા પુસ્તકમાં લખેલા હતા.

Thine eyes did see my unformed substance, and in thy book all [my members] were written; [during many] days were they fashioned, when [as yet] there was none of them.

17 ૧૭ હે ઈશ્વર, તમારા વિચારો મને કેટલા બધા મૂલ્યવાન લાગે છે! તેઓની સંખ્યા કેટલી બધી મોટી છે!

But how precious are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

18 ૧૮ જો હું તેઓને ગણવા જાઉં તો તેઓ રેતીના કણ કરતાં વધારે થાય. જ્યારે હું જાગું, ત્યારે હું હજી તમારી સાથે હોઉં છું.

[If] I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I awake, I am still with thee.

19 ૧૯ હે ઈશ્વર, તમે જ દુષ્ટોનો સંહાર કરશો; હે ખૂની માણસો મારાથી દૂર થાઓ.

Oh that thou wouldest slay the wicked, O God! And ye men of blood, depart from me.

20 ૨૦ તેઓ તમારી વિરુદ્ધ બળવો કરે છે અને કપટથી વર્તે છે; તમારા શત્રુઓ વ્યર્થ ફુલાઈ જાય છે.

For they speak of thee wickedly, they take [thy name] in vain, thine enemies.

21 ૨૧ હે યહોવાહ, તમારો દ્વેષ કરનારાઓનો શું હું દ્વેષ ન કરું? જેઓ તમારી સામે ઊઠે છે, તેઓનો શું હું ધિક્કાર ન કરું?

Do not I hate them, O Jehovah, that hate thee? and do not I loathe them that rise up against thee?

22 ૨૨ હું તેઓને સંપૂર્ણ રીતે ધિક્કારું છું; તેઓને હું મારા શત્રુઓ જ ગણું છું.

I hate them with perfect hatred; I account them mine enemies.

23 ૨૩ હે ઈશ્વર, મારી કસોટી કરો અને મારું અંતઃકરણ ઓળખો; મને પારખો અને મારા વિચારો જાણી લો.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; prove me, and know my thoughts;

24 ૨૪ જો મારામાં કંઈ દુષ્ટતા હોય, તો તે તમે જોજો અને મને સનાતન માર્ગમાં ચલાવજો.

And see if there be any grievous way in me; and lead me in the way everlasting.
