1 ૧ ચઢવાનું ગીત; દાઉદનું. હવે ઇઝરાયલ એમ કહો, “જો યહોવાહ અમારા પક્ષમાં ન હોત,”

A Song of the Ascents, by David. Save [for] Jehovah — who hath been for us, (Pray, let Israel say),

2 ૨ જ્યારે માણસો અમારા પર ચઢી આવ્યા ત્યારે, “જો યહોવાહ અમારા પક્ષમાં ન હોત,

Save [for] Jehovah — who hath been for us, In the rising up of man against us,

3 ૩ તો તેઓનો ક્રોધ અમારા ઉપર સળગી ઊઠતાં તેઓ અમને જીવતા જ ગળી જાત.

Then alive they had swallowed us up, In the burning of their anger against us,

4 ૪ પાણીની રેલો અમને તાણી જાત, પાણીએ અમને ડુબાડી દીધા હોત.

Then the waters had overflowed us, The stream passed over our soul,

5 ૫ તે અભિમાની માણસોએ અમને પાણીમાં ડુબાડી દીધા હોત.”

Then passed over our soul had the proud waters.

6 ૬ યહોવાહની સ્તુતિ થાઓ, જેમણે તેઓના દાંતનો શિકાર થવાને અમને સોંપ્યા નહિ.

Blessed [is] Jehovah who hath not given us, A prey to their teeth.

7 ૭ જેમ પારધીની જાળમાંથી પક્ષી છટકી જાય, તેમ અમારા જીવ બચી ગયા છે; જાળ તૂટી ગઈ છે અને અમે બચી ગયા છીએ.

Our soul as a bird hath escaped from a snare of fowlers, The snare was broken, and we have escaped.

8 ૮ આકાશ અને પૃથ્વીના સર્જનહાર, યહોવાહ અમારા મદદગાર છે.

Our help [is] in the name of Jehovah, Maker of the heavens and earth!
