નીતિવચનો 7

1 ૧ મારા દીકરા, મારાં વચનો પાળ અને મારી આજ્ઞાઓ સંઘરી રાખ.

My sonne, keepe my wordes, and hide my commandements with thee.

2 ૨ મારી આજ્ઞાઓ પાડીને જીવતો રહે અને મારા શિક્ષણને તારી આંખની કીકીની જેમ જતન કરજે.

Keepe my commandements, and thou shalt liue, and mine instruction as the apple of thine eyes.

3 ૩ તેઓને તારી આંગળીઓ પર બાંધ; તેઓને તારા હૃદયપટ પર લખી રાખ.

Binde them vpon thy fingers, and write them vpon the table of thine heart.

4 ૪ ડહાપણને કહે કે “તું મારી બહેન છે,” અને બુદ્ધિને કહે, “તું મારી ઘનિષ્ઠ મિત્ર છે.”

Say vnto wisedome, Thou art my sister: and call vnderstanding thy kinswoman,

5 ૫ જેથી એ બન્ને તને વ્યભિચારી સ્ત્રીથી બચાવશે. તે ખુશામતના શબ્દો ઉચ્ચારનારી પરસ્ત્રીથી તારું રક્ષણ કરશે.

That they may keepe thee from the strange woman, euen from the stranger that is smoothe in her wordes.

6 ૬ કારણ કે એક વખત મેં મારા ઘરની બારી નજીક ઊભા રહીને જાળીમાંથી સામે નજર કરી;

As I was in the window of mine house, I looked through my windowe,

7 ૭ અને ત્યાં મેં ઘણાં ભોળા યુવાનોને જોયા. તેમાં એક અક્કલહીન યુવાન મારી નજરે પડ્યો.

And I sawe among the fooles, and considered among the children a yong man destitute of vnderstanding,

8 ૮ એક સ્ત્રીના ઘરના ખૂણા પાસેથી તે બજારમાંથી પસાર થતો હતો, તે સીધો તેના ઘર તરફ જતો હતો.

Who passed through the streete by her corner, and went toward her house,

9 ૯ દિવસ આથમ્યો હતો, સાંજ પડવા આવી હતી અને રાતના અંધકારનાં સમયે.

In the twilight in the euening, when the night began to be blacke and darke.

10 ૧૦ અચાનક એક સ્ત્રી તેને મળવા બહાર આવી, તેણે ગણિકાના જેવાં વસ્ત્રો પહેર્યા હતાં અને તે જાણતી હતી કે તે શા માટે ત્યાં છે.

And beholde, there met him a woman with an harlots behauiour, and subtill in heart.

11 ૧૧ તે કપટી અને મીઠું બોલનારી અને સ્વછંદી હતી, તેના પગ પોતાના ઘરમાં કદી ટકતા ન હતા;

(She is babling and loud: whose feete can not abide in her house.

12 ૧૨ કોઈવાર ગલીઓમાં હોય, તો ક્યારેક બજારની એકાંત જગામાં, તો કોઈવાર ચોકમાં શેરીના-ખૂણે લાગ તાકીને ઊભી રહેતી હતી.

Nowe she is without, nowe in the streetes, and lyeth in waite at euery corner)

13 ૧૩ તે સ્ત્રીએ તેને પકડીને ચુંબન કર્યુ; અને નિર્લજ્જ મોઢે તેને કહ્યું કે,

So she caught him and kissed him and with an impudent face said vnto him,

14 ૧૪ શાંત્યર્પણો મારી પાસે તૈયાર કરેલાં છે, આજે મેં પ્રતિજ્ઞા લીધી છે; આજે મેં મારી પ્રતિજ્ઞા પૂર્ણ કરી છે.

I haue peace offerings: this day haue I payed my vowes.

15 ૧૫ તેથી હું તને મળવા બહાર આવી છું. હું ક્યારની તને શોધતી હતી, આખરે તું મળ્યો છે.

Therefore came I forth to meete thee, that I might seeke thy face: and I haue found thee.

16 ૧૬ મેં મારા પલંગ ઉપર સુંદર ભરતકામવાળી ચાદરો પાથરી છે તથા મિસરી શણનાં સુંદર વસ્ત્રો બિછાવ્યાં છે.

I haue deckt my bed with ornaments, carpets and laces of Egypt.

17 ૧૭ મેં મારું બિછાનું બોળ, અગર અને તજથી સુગંધીદાર બનાવ્યું છે.

I haue perfumed my bedde with myrrhe, aloes, and cynamom.

18 ૧૮ ચાલ, આપણે સવાર સુધી ભરપેટ પ્રેમનો અનુભવ કરીએ; આખી રાત મગ્ન થઈ પ્રેમની મજા માણીએ.

Come, let vs take our fill of loue vntill the morning: let vs take our pleasure in daliance.

19 ૧૯ મારો પતિ ઘરે નથી; તે લાંબી મુસાફરીએ ગયો છે.

For mine husband is not at home: he is gone a iourney farre off.

20 ૨૦ તે પોતાની સાથે રૂપિયાની થેલી લઈ ગયો છે; અને તે પૂનમે પાછો ઘરે આવશે.”

He hath taken with him a bagge of siluer, and will come home at the day appointed.

21 ૨૧ તે ઘણા મીઠા શબ્દોથી તેને વશ કરે છે; અને તે પોતાના હોઠોની ખુશામતથી તેને ખેંચી જાય છે.

Thus with her great craft she caused him to yeelde, and with her flattering lips she entised him.

22 ૨૨ જેમ બળદ કસાઈવાડે જાય છે, અને જેમ ગુનેગારને સજા માટે સાંકળે બાંધીને લઈ જવાય છે તેમ તે જલદીથી તેની પાછળ જાય છે.

And he followed her straight wayes, as an oxe that goeth to the slaughter, and as a foole to the stockes for correction,

23 ૨૩ આખરે તેનું કાળજું તીરથી વીંધાય છે; જેમ કોઈ પક્ષી પોતાનો જીવ જશે એમ જાણ્યા વિના જાળમાં ધસી જાય છે, તેમ તે સપડાઈ જાય છે.

Till a dart strike through his liuer, as a bird hasteth to the snare, not knowing that he is in danger.

24 ૨૪ હવે, મારા દીકરાઓ, સાંભળો; અને મારા મુખનાં વચનો પર લક્ષ આપો.

Heare me now therefore, O children, and hearken to the wordes of my mouth.

25 ૨૫ તારું હૃદય તેના માર્ગો તરફ વળવા ન દે; તેના રસ્તાઓમાં ભટકીને જતો નહિ.

Let not thine heart decline to her wayes: wander thou not in her paths.

26 ૨૬ કારણ, તેણે ઘણાંને ઘાયલ કર્યા છે, તેઓને મારી નાખ્યા છે; અને તેનાથી માર્યા ગયેલાઓની સંખ્યા પુષ્કળ છે.

For shee hath caused many to fall downe wounded, and the strong men are all slaine by her.

27 ૨૭ તેનું ઘર મૃત્યુના માર્ગે છે; એ માર્ગ મૃત્યુના ઓરડામાં પહોંચાડે છે. (Sheol h7585)

Her house is the way vnto ye graue, which goeth downe to the chambers of death. (Sheol h7585)
