નીતિવચનો 25

1 ૧ આ પણ સુલેમાનનાં નીતિવચનો છે કે, જેનો ઉતારો યહૂદિયાના રાજા હિઝકિયાના માણસોએ કર્યો હતો.

Also these [are] [the] proverbs of Solomon which they copied [the] men of - Hezekiah [the] king of Judah.

2 ૨ કોઈ બાબત ગુપ્ત રાખવી તેમાં ઈશ્વરનો મહિમા છે, પણ કોઈ બાબત શોધી કાઢવી એમાં રાજાનું ગૌરવ છે.

[is] [the] glory of God to conceal a matter and [is the] glory of kings to search out a matter.

3 ૩ જેમ આકાશની ઊંચાઈ તથા પૃથ્વીનું ઊંડાણ હોય છે, તેમ રાજાઓનું મન અગાધ છે.

Heaven for height and earth for depth and [the] heart of kings there not [is] inquiry.

4 ૪ ચાંદીમાંથી નકામો ભાગ કાઢી નાખો, એટલે ચાંદીનો કારીગર તેમાંથી વાસણ બનાવી શકશે.

Remove dross from silver and it came out for the metalsmith a vessel.

5 ૫ તેમ રાજા પાસેથી દુષ્ટોને દૂર કરો, એટલે તેનું સિંહાસન ન્યાય વડે સ્થિર થશે.

Remove [the] wicked before a king so it may be established in righteousness throne his.

6 ૬ રાજાની હાજરીમાં પોતાની બડાઈ ન કર અને મોટા માણસોની જગ્યાએ ઊભા ન રહે.

May not you claim honor before a king and in [the] place of great [people] may not you stand.

7 ૭ ઉમરાવના દેખતાં તને નીચે ઉતારવામાં આવે તેના કરતાં, “આમ આવો” કહીને ઉપર બેસાડવામાં આવે એ વધારે સારું છે.

For [is] better to say to you come up here than to set low you before a noble [person] whom they have seen eyes your.

8 ૮ દાવામાં જલદી ઊતરી ન પડ. કેમ કે આખરે તારો પ્રતિવાદી તને ઝંખવાણો પાડે ત્યારે શું કરવું તે તને સૂઝે નહિ?

May not you go forth to contest a lawsuit quickly lest what? will you do at end its when puts to shame you neighbor your.

9 ૯ તારા દાવા વિષે તારા પ્રતિવાદી સાથે જ વિવાદ કર અને બીજાની ગુપ્ત વાત ઉઘાડી ન કર,

Own case your conduct with neighbor your and [the] secret of another [person] may not you reveal.

10 ૧૦ રખેને તે સાંભળનાર તારી નિંદા કરે અને તારા પરનો બટ્ટો દૂર થાય નહિ.

Lest he should bring shame you [one who] hears and evil report your not it will turn back.

11 ૧૧ પ્રસંગને અનુસરીને બોલેલો શબ્દ ચાંદીની ટોપલીમાંનાં સોનાનાં સફરજન જેવો છે.

12 ૧૨ જ્ઞાની વ્યક્તિએ આપેલો ઠપકો આજ્ઞાંકિતના કાનમાં સોનાની કડીઓ તથા સોનાના ઘરેણાં જેવો છે.

An earring of gold and an ornament of pure gold [one who] reproves wise on an ear listening.

13 ૧૩ ફસલના સમયમાં બરફની શીતળતા જેવી લાગે છે તેવી જ વિશ્વાસુ સંદેશાવાહક તેના મોકલનારાઓને લાગે છે; તે પોતાના માલિકના આત્માને તાજો કરે છે.

[is] like [the] cold of Snow - on a day of harvest an envoy faithful to [those who] sent him and [the] life of masters his he will restore.

14 ૧૪ જે કોઈ ભેટો આપવાની વ્યર્થ ડંફાસો મારે છે, પણ કંઈ આપતો નથી, તે વરસાદ વગરનાં વાદળાં તથા પવન જેવો છે.

Clouds and wind and [is] rain there not a person [who] boasts in a gift of falsehood.

15 ૧૫ લાંબી મુદતની સહનશીલતાથી અધિકારીનું મન માને છે અને કોમળ જીભ હાડકાને ભાંગે છે.

By length of anger he will be persuaded a ruler and a tongue soft it will break bone.

16 ૧૬ જો તને મધ મળ્યું હોય, તો જોઈએ તેટલું જ ખા રખેને તે તારા ગળા સુધી આવે અને તારે તે ઓકી કાઢવું પડે.

Honey you have found eat sufficiency your lest you should be surfeited with it and you will vomit up it.

17 ૧૭ તું તારા પડોશીના ઘરમાં કવચિત જ જા, નહિ તો તે તારાથી કંટાળીને તારો ધિક્કાર કરશે.

Make rare foot your from [the] house of neighbor your lest he should be surfeited with you and he will hate you.

18 ૧૮ પોતાના પડોશી વિરુદ્ધ જૂઠી સાક્ષી પૂરનાર માણસ હથોડા, તલવાર તથા તીક્ષ્ણ તીર જેવો છે.

A war-club and a sword and an arrow sharpened a person [who] testifies against neighbor his a witness of falsehood.

19 ૧૯ સંકટસમયે અવિશ્વાસુ માણસ પર મૂકેલો વિશ્વાસ સડેલા દાંત અને ઊતરી ગયેલા પગ જેવો છે.

A tooth broken and a foot slipped [the] trust of [one who] acts treacherously in a day of trouble.

20 ૨૦ જે દુઃખી દિલવાળા માણસ આગળ ગીતો ગાય છે, તે ઠંડીમાં અંગ પરથી વસ્ત્ર કાઢી લેનાર જેવો અથવા ઘા પર સરકો રેડનાર જેવો છે.

21 ૨૧ જો તારો શત્રુ ભૂખ્યો હોય, તો તેને ખાવા માટે રોટલો આપ; અને જો તે તરસ્યો હોય, તો પીવા માટે પાણી આપ.

If [is] hungry [one who] hates you give to eat him food and if thirsty give to drink him water.

22 ૨૨ કેમ કે એમ કરવાથી તું તેના માથા પર અંગારાનો ઢગલો કરશે અને યહોવાહ તને તેનો બદલો આપશે.

For burning coals you [will] snatch up on head his and Yahweh he will repay to you.

23 ૨૩ ઉત્તરનો પવન વરસાદ લાવે છે; તેમ જ ચાડીકરનારી જીભ ક્રોધિત ચહેરો ઉપજાવે છે.

A wind of [the] north it brings forth rain and faces indignant a tongue of secrecy.

24 ૨૪ કજિયાખોર સ્ત્રીની સાથે વિશાળ ઘરમાં રહેવું, તે કરતાં અગાશીના ખૂણામાં રહેવું સારું છે.

[is] good To dwell on [the] corner of a roof more than a woman of (contentions *Q(K)*) and a house of association.

25 ૨૫ જેવું તરસ્યા જીવને માટે ઠંડુ પાણી છે, તેવી જ દૂર દેશથી મળેલી સારી ખબર છે.

Water cool on a person weary and a report good from a land of distance.

26 ૨૬ જેવો ડહોળાયેલો ઝરો અથવા વિનાશક કૂવો છે, તેવો જ દુશ્મનોની આગળથી ખસી જનાર નેક પુરુષ છે.

A spring fouled and a fountain ruined a righteous [person] [who] sways before a wicked [person].

27 ૨૭ વધુ પડતું મધ ખાવું સારું નથી, તેમ જ પોતાનું મહત્વ શોધવું એ કંઈ પ્રતિષ્ઠા નથી.

To eat honey much not [is] good and [the] search of own honor their [is] an honor.

28 ૨૮ જે માણસ પોતાના પર કાબુ રાખી શકતો નથી તે ખંડિયેર જેવો તથા કોટ વગરના નગર જેવો છે.

A city broken into there not [is] a wall a person whom not control [belongs] to spirit his.
