નીતિવચનો 2

1 ૧ મારા દીકરા, જો તું મારાં વચનોનો સ્વીકાર કરશે અને મારી આજ્ઞાઓને તારી પાસે સંઘરી રાખીને,

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and wilt hide my commandments with thee,

2 ૨ ડહાપણની વાત સાંભળશે અને બુદ્ધિમાં તારું મન કેન્દ્રિત કરશે;

That thy ear may hearken to wisdom: Incline thy heart to know prudence:

3 ૩ જો તું વિવેકબુદ્ધિને માટે પોકાર કરશે અને સમજણ મેળવવાને માટે ખંત રાખશે;

For if thou shalt call for wisdom, and incline thy heart to prudence:

4 ૪ જો તું ચાંદીની જેમ તેની શોધ કરશે અને સંતાડેલા ખજાનાની જેમ તેને શોધશે;

If thou shalt seek her as money, and shalt dig for her as for a treasure:

5 ૫ તો તને યહોવાહના ભયની સમજણ પડશે અને તને ઈશ્વરનું ડહાપણ પ્રાપ્ત થશે.

Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and shalt find the knowledge of God.

6 ૬ કેમ કે યહોવાહ ડહાપણ આપે છે, તેમના મુખમાંથી ડહાપણ અને સમજણ વ્યક્ત થાય છે.

Because the Lord giveth wisdom: and out of his mouth cometh prudence and knowledge.

7 ૭ તે સત્યજનોને માટે ખરું ડહાપણ સંગ્રહ કરી રાખે છે, પ્રામાણિકપણાથી વર્તનારને તે ઢાલરૂપ છે.

He will keep the salvation of the righteous, and protect them that walk in simplicity.

8 ૮ તે ન્યાયના માર્ગની રક્ષા કરે છે અને પોતાના વિશ્વાસુ લોકોની કાળજી લે છે.

Keeping the paths of justice, and guarding the ways of saints.

9 ૯ ત્યારે તું નેકી, ન્યાય તથા ઇનસાફને, હા, દરેક સત્યમાર્ગને સમજશે.

Then shalt thou understand justice, and judgment, and equity, and every good path.

10 ૧૦ તારા હૃદયમાં ડહાપણ પ્રવેશ કરશે અને સમજ તારા આત્માને આનંદકારક લાગશે.

If wisdom shall enter into thy heart, and knowledge please thy soul:

11 ૧૧ વિવેકબુદ્ધિ તારું ધ્યાન રાખશે, બુદ્ધિ તારું રક્ષણ કરશે.

Counsel shall keep thee, and prudence shall preserve thee,

12 ૧૨ તેઓ તને દુષ્ટ માણસોના માર્ગમાંથી, ખોટું બોલનાર માણસો કે,

That thou mayst be delivered from the evil way, and from the man that speaketh perverse things:

13 ૧૩ જેઓ સદાચારના માર્ગ તજીને અંધકારનાં માર્ગોમાં ચાલે છે.

Who leave the right way, and walk by dark ways:

14 ૧૪ જ્યારે તેઓ દુષ્ટતા કરે છે ત્યારે તેઓ તે કરવામાં આનંદ માણે છે અને દુષ્ટ માણસોનાં વિપરીત આચરણોથી હરખાય છે.

Who are glad when they have done evil, and rejoice in most wicked things:

15 ૧૫ તેઓ આડા માર્ગોને અનુસરે છે અને જેમના રસ્તા અવળા છે, તેમનાથી તેઓ તને ઉગારશે.

Whose ways are perverse, and their steps infamous.

16 ૧૬ વળી ડહાપણ તથા વિવેકબુદ્ધિ તને અનૈતિક સ્ત્રીથી, એટલે પોતાના શબ્દોથી મોહ પમાડનાર પરસ્ત્રીથી બચાવશે.

That thou mayst be delivered from the strange women, and from the stranger, who softeneth her words:

17 ૧૭ તે પોતાના જુવાનીનાં સાથીને તજી દે છે અને ઈશ્વરની આગળ કરેલો પોતાનો કરાર ભૂલી જાય છે.

And forsaketh the guide of her youth,

18 ૧૮ કેમ કે તેનું ઘર મૃત્યુની ખીણ તરફ અને તેનો માર્ગ મૃત્યુ તરફ જાય છે.

And hath forgotten the covenant of her God: for her house inclineth unto death, and her paths to hell. (questioned)

19 ૧૯ તેની પાસે જનારાઓમાંથી કોઈ પાછો ફરતો નથી અને તેઓ જીવનનો માર્ગ સંપાદન કરી શકતા નથી.

None that go in unto her shall return again, neither shall they take hold of the paths of life,

20 ૨૦ તેથી તું સજ્જનોના માર્ગમાં ચાલશે અને નેક લોકોનો રસ્તો પકડી રાખશે.

That thou mayst walk in a good way: and mayst keep the paths of the just.

21 ૨૧ કેમ કે પ્રામાણિક માણસો જ દેશમાં ઘર બાંધશે અને પ્રામાણિક માણસો તેમાં વિદ્યમાન રહેશે.

For they that are upright shall dwell in the earth, and the simple shall continue in it.

22 ૨૨ પણ દુર્જનો દેશમાંથી નાબૂદ થશે અને અવિશ્વાસુઓને તેમાંથી ઉખેડી નાખવામાં આવશે.

But the wicked shall be destroyed from the earth: and they that do unjustly shall be taken away from it.
