1 ૧ જે ઘર મિજબાનીથી ભરપૂર હોય પણ કજિયાકંકાસવાળું હોય તેના કરતાં શાંતિ સહિત રોટલીનો સૂકો ટુકડો સારો છે.
Better a dry morsel in quietness than a house full of feasting with strife.
2 ૨ ડહાપણથી વર્તનાર ચાકર બદનામી કરાવનાર દીકરા પર અધિકાર ચલાવશે અને એ ચાકરને દીકરાના ભાઈઓમાં વારસનો ભાગ મળશે.

5 ૫ જે ગરીબની મશ્કરી કરે છે તે તેના સર્જનહારની નિંદા કરે છે અને જે કોઈ બીજાની વિપત્તિને જોઈને રાજી થાય છે તે શિક્ષા પામ્યા વગર રહેશે નહિ.
He who mocks the poor insults their Maker; whoever gloats over calamity will not go unpunished.

8 ૮ જેને બક્ષિસ મળે છે તે તેની નજરમાં મૂલ્યવાન પથ્થર જેવી છે; જ્યાં જ્યાં તે જાય છે, ત્યાં ત્યાં તે ઉદય પામે છે.
A bribe is a charm to its giver; wherever he turns, he succeeds.

14 ૧૪ કોઈ પાણીને બહાર આવવાનું બાકું કરી આપે, તે માફક જ ઝઘડાનો આરંભ છે, માટે ઝઘડો થયા અગાઉ સમાધાન કરી લો.
To start a quarrel is to release a flood; so abandon the dispute before it breaks out.
15 ૧૫ જે કોઈ દુષ્ટને નિર્દોષ ઠરાવે છે અને જે કોઈ નેકીવાનને દોષપાત્ર ઠરાવે છે તે બન્નેને યહોવાહ ધિક્કારે છે.
Acquitting the guilty and condemning the righteous— both are detestable to the LORD.

28 ૨૮ મૂર્ખ ચૂપ રહે ત્યાં સુધી તે ડાહ્યો ગણાય છે, જ્યાં સુધી તે બોલે નહિ, ત્યાં સુધી તે શાણો લેખાય છે.
Even a fool is considered wise if he keeps silent, and discerning when he holds his tongue.
