નીતિવચનો 11

1 ૧ ખોટાં ત્રાજવાં યહોવાહને કંટાળારૂપ છે, પણ સાચા વજનથી તેમને આનંદ થાય છે.

A deceptive balance, is an abomination to Yahweh, but, a full weight, is his delight.

2 ૨ અહંકાર આવે છે ત્યારે અપમાન પણ આવે છે, પણ નમ્ર જનો પાસે ડહાપણ હોય છે.

When pride cometh, then cometh contempt, but, with the modest, is wisdom.

3 ૩ પ્રામાણિક માણસની વિશ્વાનીયતા તેને દોરે છે, પણ ધુતારા પોતાના દુષ્ટ ઇરાદાઓથી નાશ પામશે.

The integrity of the upright, shall guide them, but, the crookedness of the treacherous, shall be their ruin.

4 ૪ કોપને દિવસે દ્રવ્ય કંઈ કામ આવતું નથી, પણ નેકી મોતથી ઉગારે છે.

Wealth, shall not profit, in the day of wrath, but, righteousness, shall deliver from death.

5 ૫ પ્રામાણિક માણસની નેકી તેનો માર્ગ સ્થિર કરે છે, પણ દુષ્ટ માણસ પોતાની જ દુષ્ટતાથી પાયમાલ થશે.

The righteousness of the blameless, shall smooth his way, but, by his own lawlessness, shall the lawless one, fall.

6 ૬ પ્રામાણિક માણસની નેકી, ઈશ્વરને પસંદ છે તેથી તે બચી જશે, પરંતુ કપટ કરનારા તેઓની પોતાની યોજનાઓમાં ફસાય છે.

The righteousness of the upright, shall deliver them, but, by their own craving, shall the treacherous be captured.

7 ૭ દુષ્ટ માણસની અપેક્ષા તેના મૃત્યુ સમયે નાશ પામે છે, અને અન્યાયીની આશા પણ નાશ પામે છે.

When the lawless man dieth, his expectation, perisheth, and, the hope of strong men, hath vanished.

8 ૮ સદાચારીને સંકટમાંથી ઉગારી લેવામાં આવે છે અને તેને બદલે દુષ્ટો તેમાં ફસાય છે.

The righteous man, out of distress, is delivered, then cometh a lawless man into his place.

9 ૯ દુષ્ટ માણસ પોતાની વાણીથી પોતાના પડોશીઓનો નાશ કરે છે, પરંતુ ન્યાયી તેના ડહાપણ વડે બીજાઓને ઉગારે છે.

With the mouth, a profane man destroyeth his neighbour, but, through knowledge, shall righteous men be delivered.

10 ૧૦ ન્યાયી વ્યક્તિની સફળતામાં આખું નગર હર્ષ કરે છે; અને દુષ્ટોનો નાશ થાય છે ત્યારે હર્ષના નાદ સંભળાય છે.

When it is, well with the righteous, the city, exulteth, When the lawless perish, there is a shout of triumph.

11 ૧૧ સદાચારીના આશીર્વાદથી નગરની ઉન્નતિ થાય છે, પણ દુરાચારીની વાણીથી તેનો નાશ થાય છે.

When the upright are blessed, exalted is the city, but, by the mouth of the lawless, it is overthrown.

12 ૧૨ પોતાના પડોશીનો તુચ્છકાર કરનાર અજ્ઞાની છે, પણ બુદ્ધિમાન માણસ શાંત રહે છે.

He that sheweth contempt for his neighbour, lacketh sense, but, a man of understanding, observeth silence.

13 ૧૩ ચાડી કરનાર માણસ છૂપી વાત બહાર પાડી દે છે, પણ વિશ્વાસુ વ્યક્તિ એ વાતને ગુપ્ત રાખે છે.

He that goeth about talebearing, revealeth a secret, but, he that is faithful in spirit, concealeth a matter.

14 ૧૪ જ્યાં આગેવાન અજ્ઞાન હોય, ત્યાં લોકો નાશ પામે છે, પણ જ્યાં પુષ્કળ સલાહકારો હોય ત્યાં સલામતી છે.

With no guidance, a people will fall, but, safety, lieth in the greatness of the counsellor.

15 ૧૫ પારકાના જામીન થનારને વેઠવું પડે છે, જે જામીનગીરી લેવાનું ટાળે છે તે સુરક્ષિત છે.

He that becometh surety for a stranger, goeth to utter ruin, but, he that hateth striking hands, is secure.

16 ૧૬ સુશીલ સ્ત્રી સન્માન પ્રાપ્ત કરે છે; અને જુલમી માણસો દ્રવ્ય સાચવી રાખે છે.

A gracious wife, obtaineth honour, but, the diligent, shall obtain wealth.

17 ૧૭ દયાળુ માણસ પોતાની જાતનું હિત કરે છે, પણ ઘાતકી માણસ પોતાના દેહને દુ: ખમાં નાખે છે.

The man of lovingkindness, dealeth well with his own soul, but the cruel man, troubleth his own flesh.

18 ૧૮ દુષ્ટની કમાણી ઠગારી છે, પણ નીતિમત્તાનું બીજ વાવનારને સાચો હોવા બદલ વળતર મળશે.

The lawless man, earneth the wages of falsehood, but, he that soweth righteousness, hath the reward of fidelity.

19 ૧૯ જે માણસ નેકીમાં સુદ્રઢ છે તે જીવન સંપાદન કરે છે, પણ બૂરાઈ શોધનાર પોતાનું જ મોત લાવે છે.

A righteous son, [turneth] to life, but, he that pursueth wickedness, to his own death.

20 ૨૦ વિપરીત અંતઃકરણવાળા માણસોથી યહોવાહ કંટાળે છે, પણ જેઓ નીતિમત્તાથી જીવે છે તેઓ તેમને આનંદરૂપ છે.

The abomination of Yahweh, are they of perverse heart, but, his delight, are the men of blameless life.

21 ૨૧ ખાતરી રાખજો કે દુષ્ટને સજા થયા વિના રહેશે નહિ, પણ સદાચારીઓનાં સંતાનનો બચાવ થશે.

Hand to hand, the wicked man shall not be held innocent, but, the seed of the righteous, hath been delivered.

22 ૨૨ જેમ ભૂંડના નાકમાં સોનાની નથણી હોય છે તેમ વિવેકહીન સ્ત્રીની સુંદરતા છે.

As a ring of gold in the snout of a swine, is a woman of beauty who hath abandoned discretion.

23 ૨૩ નેક માણસની ઇચ્છા સારી જ હોય છે, પરંતુ દુષ્ટોની ઇચ્છાઓ કોપરૂપ છે.

The desire of the righteous, is only good, the expectation of the lawless, is wrath.

24 ૨૪ એવા માણસો છે કે જેઓ વેરી નાખે છે તેમ છતાં વૃદ્ધિ પામે છે; અને કેટલાક વધુ પડતી કરકસર કરે છે તેમ છતાં તેઓ કંગાળ થાય છે.

There is who scattereth, and increaseth yet more, and who withholdeth of what is due, only to come to want.

25 ૨૫ ઉદાર વ્યક્તિ આબાદ થશે, પાણી આપનાર પોતે પણ પાણી પીશે.

The liberal soul, shall be enriched, and, he that refresheth, shall himself also be refreshed.

26 ૨૬ અનાજ સંઘરી રાખનારને લોકો શાપ આપે છે, પણ વેચનાર ઉપર તેઓ આશીર્વાદ વરસાવે છે.

He that keepeth back corn, the populace will curse him, but there is, a blessing, for the head of him that selleth.

27 ૨૭ ખંતથી હિત શોધનારને ઈશ્વરની કૃપા પ્રાપ્ત થશે, પણ જે અહિત કરે છે તેઓને નુકશાન થશે.

He that diligently seeketh good, aimeth at favour, but, he that studieth mischief, it shall come on himself.

28 ૨૮ પોતાના દ્રવ્ય પર ભરોસો રાખનાર પડી જશે, પણ નેકીવાન લીલા પાનની માફક ખીલશે.

He that trusteth in his riches, the same, shall fall, but, like the leaf, shall the righteous break forth.

29 ૨૯ જે પોતાના જ કુટુંબને દુ: ખી કરે છે, તેને પવનનો વારસો મળશે, અને મૂર્ખ માણસ જ્ઞાનીનો ચાકર બનશે.

He that troubleth his own house, shall inherit the wind, but, a servant, shall the foolish be, to the wise in heart.

30 ૩૦ નેકીવાનનું ફળ તે જીવનનું વૃક્ષ છે, પણ જે જ્ઞાની છે તે બીજા આત્માઓને બચાવે છે.

The fruit of the righteous, is a tree of life, and, he that rescueth souls, is wise.

31 ૩૧ નેકીવાનને પૃથ્વી પર બદલો મળશે; તો દુષ્ટ અને પાપીને પણ તેના કામ પ્રમાણે બદલો મળશે તે કેટલું ખાતરીપૂર્વક છે!

Lo! the righteous, in the earth shall be recompensed, how much more the lawless and the sinner.
