ગણના 21
1 ૧ જ્યારે નેગેબમાં રહેતા કનાનીઓના રાજા અરાદે સાંભળ્યું કે ઇઝરાયલ અથારીમને માર્ગેથી મુસાફરી કરી રહ્યા છે, ત્યારે તેણે ઇઝરાયલ સામે લડાઈ કરીને તેમાંના કેટલાકને કેદ કરી લીધા.
When King Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt toward the South, heard tel that Israel came by the way of the spies, then fought hee against Israel, and tooke of them prysoners.
2 ૨ તેથી ઇઝરાયલે યહોવાહને વચન આપીને કહ્યું કે, “જો તમે અમને આ લોકો ઉપર વિજય આપશો, તો અમે તેઓનાં નગરોનો સંપૂર્ણ નાશ કરી નાખીશું.”
So Israel vowed a vowe vnto the Lord, and said, If thou wilt deliuer and giue this people into mine hand, then I wil vtterly destroy their cities.
3 ૩ યહોવાહે ઇઝરાયલીઓની વિનંતી સાંભળીને તેઓને કનાનીઓ ઉપર વિજય અપાવ્યો. તેઓએ તેઓનો અને તેઓના નગરોનો સંપૂર્ણપણે નાશ કર્યો. અને તે જગ્યાનું નામ હોર્માહ પડ્યું.
And the Lord heard the voyce of Israel, and deliuered them the Canaanites: and they vtterly destroied them and their cities, and called ye name of the place Hormah.
4 ૪ તેઓ હોર પર્વત તરફથી રાતા સમુદ્રને રસ્તે થઈને અદોમ દેશની ફરતે આગળ ગયા. રસ્તામાં લોકોનાં હૃદય ઘણાં નાહિંમત થઈ ગયાં હતાં.
After, they departed from the mount Hor by the way of the red Sea, to compasse the land of Edom: and the people were sore grieued because of the way.
5 ૫ લોકો ઈશ્વર અને મૂસાની વિરુદ્ધ બોલવા લાગ્યા, “શા માટે અરણ્યમાં મરી જવાને તમે અમને મિસરમાંથી બહાર કાઢી લાવ્યા? અહીં રોટલી નથી, પાણી નથી, આ કંગાળ ભોજનથી તો અમે કંટાળી ગયા છીએ.”
And the people spake against God and against Moses, saying, Wherefore haue ye brought vs out of Egypt, to die in the wildernesse? for here is neither bread nor water, and our soule lotheth this light bread.
Wherefore the Lord sent fierie serpents among ye people, which stung the people: so that many of the people of Israel died.
7 ૭ તેથી લોકોએ મૂસા પાસે આવીને કહ્યું, “અમે પાપ કર્યું છે કેમ કે અમે તારી અને યહોવાહની વિરુદ્ધ બોલ્યા છીએ. યહોવાહને પ્રાર્થના કર કે તેઓ અમારી મધ્યેથી સાપો દૂર કરે.” તેથી મૂસાએ લોકો માટે પ્રાર્થના કરી.
Therefore the people came to Moses and said, We haue sinned: for wee haue spoken against the Lord, and against thee: pray to the Lord, that he take away the serpents from vs: and Moses prayed for the people.
8 ૮ યહોવાહે મૂસાને કહ્યું, “એક સાપ બનાવ અને તેને સ્તંભ પર મૂક. એટલે એમ થશે કે જે કોઈ ડંખાયેલું હોય તે, તેને જોઈને બચી જાય.”
And the Lord said vnto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it vp for a signe, that as many as are bitten, may looke vpon it, and liue.
9 ૯ તેથી મૂસાએ પિત્તળનો સાપ બનાવીને સ્તંભ પર મૂક્યો. જ્યારે કોઈ વ્યક્તિને સાપ કરડ્યો હોય અને જો તે પિત્તળના સાપ તરફ જુએ, તો તે બચી જશે.
So Moses made a serpent of brasse, and set it vp for a signe: and when a serpent had bitten a man, then he looked to the serpent of brasse, and liued.
And ye children of Israel departed thence, and pitched in Oboth.
And they departed from Oboth, and pitched in lie-abarim, in the wildernesse, which is before Moab on the Eastside.
They remoued thence, and pitched vpon the riuer of Zared.
13 ૧૩ ત્યાંથી તેઓએ મુસાફરી કરીને આર્નોન નદીની બીજી બાજુએ છાવણી કરી, જે અમોરીઓની સરહદ સુધી વિસ્તરેલા અરણ્યમાં છે, આર્નોન મોઆબીઓ અને અમોરીઓ વચ્ચેની સરહદ છે.
Thence they departed, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, which is in the wildernesse, and commeth out of the coasts of the Amorites: (for Arnon is the border of Moab, betweene the Moabites and the Amorites)
Wherefore it shall be spoken in the booke of the battels of the Lord, what thing he did in the red sea, and in the riuers of Arnon,
And at the streame of the riuers that goeth downe to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth vpon the border of Moab.
16 ૧૬ ત્યાંથી તેઓ મુસાફરી કરીને બએર એટલે જે કૂવા સંબંધી યહોવાહે મૂસાને કહ્યું હતું કે, “તું લોકોને મારા માટે એકત્ર કર હું તેઓને પાણી આપીશ ત્યાં આવ્યા.”
And from thence they turned to Beer: the same is the well where the Lord said vnto Moses, Assemble the people, and I wil giue them water.
Then Israel sang this song, Rise vp well, sing ye vnto it.
18 ૧૮ જે કૂવો અમારા અધિપતિઓએ ખોદ્યો, જે કૂવો નિયમસ્થાપકની આજ્ઞાથી લોકના આગેવાનોએ પોતાની લાકડીઓથી ખોદ્યો છે.” પછી અરણ્યથી તેઓએ મત્તાનાહ સુધી મુસાફરી કરી.
The princes digged this well, the captaines of the people digged it, euen the lawe giuer, with their staues. And from the wildernesse they came to Mattanah,
And from Mattanah to Nahaliel, and from Nahaliel to Bamoth,
And from Bamoth in the valley, that is in the plaine of Moab, to the top of Pisgah that looketh toward Ieshimon.
Then Israel sent messengers vnto Sihon, King of the Amorites, saying,
22 ૨૨ કૃપા કરીને અમને તારા દેશમાં થઈને જવા દે. અમે વળીને તારા ખેતરો કે દ્રાક્ષવાડીઓમાં થઈને નહિ જઈએ. અમે તારા કૂવાઓમાંથી પાણી નહિ પીએ. અમે તારી સરહદ પસાર કરીએ ત્યાં સુધી રાજમાર્ગે થઈને ચાલીશું.”
Let me goe through thy land: we wil not turne aside into the fieldes, nor into the vineyardes, neither drinke of the waters of ye welles: we will goe by the kings way, vntill we be past thy countrey.
23 ૨૩ પણ રાજા સીહોને ઇઝરાયલને પોતાની સરહદમાં થઈને જવા દીધા નહિ. સીહોન રાજાએ પોતાના સૈન્યને એકત્ર કર્યું અને રણમાં ઇઝરાયલીઓ ઉપર હુમલો કર્યો. તે યાહાસ પહોંચી ગયો. ત્યાં તેઓએ ઇઝરાયલ સાથે યુદ્ધ કર્યું.
But Sihon gaue Israel no licence to passe through his countrey, but Sihon assembled all his people, and went out against Israel into the wildernesse: and he came to Iahoz, and fought against Israel.
24 ૨૪ પણ ઇઝરાયલે સીહોનના સૈન્યનો તલવારની ધારથી સંહાર કર્યો અને આર્નોનથી યાબ્બોક નદી સુધી, આમ્મોન લોકોની સરહદ સુધીનો પ્રદેશ કબજે કરી લીધો. આમ્મોન લોકોની સરહદ કિલ્લાબંધ હતી.
But Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and conquered his land, from Arnon vnto Iabok, euen vnto ye children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.
25 ૨૫ ઇઝરાયલે હેશ્બોન અને તેની આસપાસનાં ગામો સહિત અમોરીઓનાં બધાં નગરો જીતી લીધાં અને તેમાં તેમણે રહેવાનું શરૂ કર્યું.
And Israel tooke al these cities, and dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites in Heshbon and in all the villages thereof.
26 ૨૬ હેશ્બોન અમોરીઓના રાજા સીહોનનું નગર હતું, સીહોને અગાઉના મોઆબના રાજા સામે યુદ્ધ કરીને આર્નોન નદી સુધીનો તેનો બધો પ્રદેશ લઈ લીધો હતો.
For Heshbon was the citie of Sihon the king of the Amorites, which had fought beforetime against the king of the Moabites, and had taken al his land out of his hand, euen vnto Arnon.
Wherefore they that speake in prouerbes, say, Come to Heshbon, let the citie of Sihon bee built and repaired:
28 ૨૮ હેશ્બોનમાંથી અગ્નિ, એટલે સીહોનના નગરમાંથી પ્રજ્વલિત અગ્નિ નીકળ્યો તેણે મોઆબના આરને, આર્નોન પર્વતના માલિકોને, ભસ્મ કર્યા.
For a fire is gone out of Heshbon, and a flame from the citie of Sihon, and hath consumed Ar of the Moabites, and the lords of Bamoth in Arnon.
29 ૨૯ હે મોઆબ, તને અફસોસ! કમોશના લોકો, તમારો નાશ થયો છે. તેણે પોતાના દીકરાઓને નાસી ગયેલા અને પોતાની દીકરીઓએ કેદીઓ તરીકે, અમોરીઓના રાજા સીહોનને સોંપી દીધા છે.
Wo be to thee, Moab: O people of Chemosh, thou art vndone: he hath suffered his sonnes to be pursued, and his daughters to be in captiuitie to Sihon the king of the Amorites.
30 ૩૦ પણ અમે સીહોનને જીતી લીધો છે. દીબોન સુધી હેશ્બોનનો વિનાશ થઈ ગયો છે. મેદબા પાસેના નોફાહ સુધી, અમે તેઓને હરાવ્યા છે.”
Their empire also is lost from Heshbon vnto Dibon, and wee haue destroyed them vnto Nophah, which reacheth vnto Medeba.
Thus Israel dwelt in the lande of the Amorites.
32 ૩૨ મૂસાએ યાઝેર પર જાસૂસી કરવા માટે માણસો મોકલ્યા. તેઓએ તેમનાં ગામો લઈ લીધાં અને ત્યાં જે અમોરીઓ હતા તેઓને હાંકી કાઢ્યા.
And Moses sent to searche out Iaazer, and they tooke the townes belonging thereto, and rooted out the Amorites that were there.
33 ૩૩ પછી તેઓએ પાછા વળીને બાશાનના રસ્તેથી ગયા. બાશાનનો રાજા ઓગ અને તેનું આખું સૈન્ય તેઓની સાથે યુદ્ધ કરવા એડ્રેઇ આવ્યા.
And they turned and went vp toward Bashan: and Og the King of Bashan came out against them, hee, and all his people, to fight at Edrei.
34 ૩૪ યહોવાહે મૂસાને કહ્યું, “તેનાથી બીતો નહિ, કેમ કે મેં તને તેના પર, તેના આખા સૈન્ય પર અને તેના દેશ પર વિજય આપ્યો છે. હેશ્બોનમાં રહેતા અમોરીઓના રાજા સીહોનની સાથે જેવું તેં કર્યું તેવું જ તેની સાથે કરજે.”
Then the Lord said vnto Moses, Feare him not: for I haue deliuered him into thine hand and all his people, and his land: and thou shalt do to him as thou diddest vnto Sihon the king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.
35 ૩૫ માટે તેઓએ તેને, તેના દીકરાઓને અને તેના આખા સૈન્યને એટલે સુધી માર્યા કે તે લોકોમાંનું કોઈ પણ જીવતું બચ્યું નહિ. તેઓએ તેનો દેશ કબજે કરી લીધો.
They smote him therefore, and his sonnes, and all his people, vntill there was none left him: so they conquered his land.
