1 ૧ ઈસુએ પોતાના બાર શિષ્યોને પાસે બોલાવીને તેઓને સઘળા દુષ્ટાત્માઓને તાબે કરવાની, તથા રોગો મટાડવાની શક્તિ અને અધિકાર આપ્યાં;
Then He called the Twelve together and gave them power and authority over all the demons, and to cure diseases;
and He sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
3 ૩ ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘તમારી મુસાફરીને સારુ કંઈ લેતા નહિ; લાકડી, થેલી, રોટલી કે નાણાં, વળી બે જોડી વસ્ત્ર પણ લેશો નહિ.
And He said to them: “Take nothing for the journey—neither staffs nor knapsack nor bread nor money, neither have two tunics apiece.
Whatever house you enter, stay there, and depart from there.
5 ૫ તે શહેરમાંથી તમે નીકળો ત્યારે જેટલાંએ તમારો સત્કાર કર્યો ન હોય તેમની વિરુદ્ધ સાક્ષી તરીકે તમારા પગની ધૂળ ખંખેરી નાખજો.’”
But as many as do not receive you, when you depart from that town, shake off even the dust from your feet as a testimony against them.”
6 ૬ અને શિષ્યો ત્યાંથી નીકળ્યા, અને ગામેગામ સુવાર્તાનો પ્રચાર કરતા અને બીમાર લોકોને સાજાં કરતા બધે ફરવા લાગ્યા.
So they set out and went around, village by village, evangelizing and healing everywhere.
7 ૭ જે થયું તે સઘળું સાંભળીને હેરોદ રાજા બહુ મૂંઝવણમાં પડ્યો, કેમ કે કેટલાક એમ કહેતાં હતા કે, મૃત્યુ પામેલો યોહાન ફરી પાછો આવ્યો છે.’”
Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all the things being done by Him; and he was perplexed, because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead,
8 ૮ કેટલાક કહેતાં હતા કે, ‘એલિયા પ્રગટ થયો છે’; અને બીજાઓ કહેતાં હતા કે, ‘પ્રાચીન પ્રબોધકોમાંનો એક પાછો ઊઠ્યો છે.’”
and by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the ancient prophets had arisen.
9 ૯ હેરોદે કહ્યું કે, ‘યોહાનનું માથું મેં કાપી નંખાવ્યું; પણ આ કોણ છે કે જેને વિશે હું આવી બધી વાતો સાંભળું છું?’ અને હેરોદે ઈસુને જોવા માટે ઈચ્છા કરી.
But Herod said, “John I beheaded; so who is this about whom I hear such things?” And he started trying to see Him.
10 ૧૦ પ્રેરિતોએ પાછા આવીને જે જે કર્યું હતું તે ઈસુને કહી સંભળાવ્યું. અને ઈસુ તેઓને સાથે લઈને બેથસાઈદા નામના શહેરમાં એકાંતમાં ગયા.
When the Apostles returned they reported to Him all that they had done. Then He took them and withdrew privately to a deserted place belonging to a town called Bethsaida.
11 ૧૧ લોકોને ખબર પડતાં જ તેઓનાં ટોળેટોળાં તેમની પાછળ ગયા; અને ઈસુએ તેઓને આવકાર કરીને તેઓને ઈશ્વરના રાજ્ય વિશે સંદેશ કહ્યો, અને જેઓને સાજાં થવાની ગરજ હતી તેઓને સાજાં કર્યા.
But the crowds, being aware, followed Him. So He received them and started speaking to them about the Kingdom of God, and He cured those who needed healing.
12 ૧૨ દિવસ પૂરો થવા આવ્યો, ત્યારે બાર શિષ્યોએ આવીને ઈસુને કહ્યું કે, ‘લોકોને વિદાય કરો કે તેઓ આસપાસનાં ગામોમાં તથા પરાંમાં જઈને ઊતરે, અને ખાવાનું મેળવે; કેમ કે આપણે અહીં ઉજ્જડ જગ્યાએ છીએ.’”
Now when the day began to decline, the Twelve approached and said to Him, “Dismiss the crowd, so that they may go to the surrounding villages and their farms, lodge and find food; because we are in a deserted place here.”
13 ૧૩ ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘તમે તેઓને ખાવાનું આપો.’ શિષ્યોએ કહ્યું કે, ‘અમારી પાસે તો જવની પાંચ રોટલી અને બે માછલી સિવાય બીજું કશું નથી. અમે જાતે જઈને આ લોકો માટે ખાવાનું ખરીદી લાવીએ તો જ તેમને આપી શકાય.’”
But He said to them, “You feed them!” So they said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all this crowd”
14 ૧૪ કેમ કે તેઓ આશરે પાંચ હજાર પુરુષ હતા. ઈસુએ પોતાના શિષ્યોને કહ્યું કે, આશરે પચાસ પચાસની પંગતમાં તેઓને બેસાડો.
(there were about five thousand men). But He said to His disciples, “Make them recline in groups of fifty!”
They did so, making them all recline.
16 ૧૬ પછી ઈસુએ પાંચ રોટલી અને બે માછલી લઈને સ્વર્ગ તરફ જોઈને તેઓને માટે ઈશ્વરની સ્તુતિ કરી અને તેના ટુકડાં કરીને લોકોને પીરસવા માટે શિષ્યોને આપી.
Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude.
So they all ate and were filled, and twelve baskets of the pieces they left were taken up.
18 ૧૮ એમ થયું કે ઈસુ એકાંતમાં પ્રાર્થના કરતા હતા, ત્યારે શિષ્યો તેમની સાથે હતા; ઈસુએ શિષ્યોને પૂછ્યું કે, ‘હું કોણ છું, તે વિષે લોકો શું કહે છે?’”
Now it happened, as He was alone praying, that the disciples joined Him, and He questioned them, saying, “Who do the crowds say I am?”
19 ૧૯ શિષ્યોએ ઉત્તર આપતાં કહ્યું કે, ‘યોહાન બાપ્તિસ્મા કરનાર, પણ કેટલાક કહે છે કે, એલિયા; અને બીજા કહે છે કે, ભૂતકાળના પ્રબોધકોમાંના એક પાછા સજીવન થયેલ પ્રબોધક.’”
In answer they said, “John the Baptizer, but others say ‘Elijah,’ while others that one of the ancient prophets has arisen.”
20 ૨૦ ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘પણ હું કોણ છું તે વિષે તમે શું કહો છો?’ પિતરે ઉત્તર આપતા કહ્યું કે, ‘ઈશ્વરના ખ્રિસ્ત.’”
Then He said to them, “But you, who do you say that I am?” In answer Peter said, “The Christ of God!”
But He strictly warned and commanded them to tell this to no one,
22 ૨૨ વળી, ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘માણસના દીકરાને ઘણું દુ: ખ સહેવું, વડીલોથી તથા મુખ્ય યાજકો તથા શાસ્ત્રીઓથી નાપસંદ થવું, મરવું, અને ત્રીજે દિવસે પાછા સજીવન થવું આવશ્યક છે.’”
saying, “The Son of the Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.”
23 ૨૩ ઈસુએ બધાને કહ્યું કે, ‘જો કોઈ મારી પાછળ આવવા ચાહે, તો તેણે પોતાનો નકાર કરવો, અને રોજ પોતાનો વધસ્તંભ ઊંચકીને મારી પાછળ ચાલવું.
Then He said to everyone: “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross, and follow me.
24 ૨૪ કેમ કે જે કોઈ પોતાનું જીવન બચાવવા ચાહે છે, તે તેને ગુમાવશે; પણ જે કોઈ મારે લીધે પોતાનું જીવન ગુમાવશે, તે તેને બચાવશે.
Because whoever desires to ‘save’ his life will waste it, but whoever ‘wastes’ his life for my sake, he will save it.
25 ૨૫ જો કોઈ માણસ આખું ભૌતિક જગત જીતે પણ પોતાની જાતને ખોઈ બેસે અથવા તેને હાનિ પહોંચવા દે તો તેને શો લાભ?
Further, what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, yet wastes or forfeits his very self?
26 ૨૬ કેમ કે જે કોઈ મારે લીધે તથા મારાં વચનોને લીધે શરમાશે, તેને લીધે માણસનો દીકરો જયારે પોતે પોતાના તથા બાપના તથા પવિત્ર સ્વર્ગદૂતોનાં મહિમામાં આવશે ત્યારે શરમાશે.
Yes, whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, the Son of the Man will be ashamed of Him, whenever He comes in the glory—His, and the Father's, and of the holy angels.
27 ૨૭ હું તમને નિશ્ચે કહું છું કે, અહીં જે ઊભા છે તેઓમાંના કેટલાક એવા છે કે જેઓ ઈશ્વરનું રાજ્ય જોશે ત્યાં સુધી મૃત્યુ પામશે નહિ.
However, I tell you truly: there are some standing here who will certainly not taste death until they see the Kingdom of God!”
28 ૨૮ એ વચનો કહ્યાંને આશરે આઠ દિવસ પછી એમ થયું કે ઈસુ પિતર, યોહાન તથા યાકૂબને લઈને પ્રાર્થના કરવા માટે પહાડ ઉપર ગયા.
Now about eight days after these words, it happened that He took along Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
29 ૨૯ ઈસુ પોતે પ્રાર્થના કરતા હતા તે સમયે તેમના ચહેરાનું સ્વરૂપ બદલાઈ ગયું, અને તેમના વસ્ત્ર ઊજળાં તથા ચળકતાં થયાં.
And as He prayed, the appearance of His face became different, and His clothing dazzling white.
And then, two men started talking with Him, who were Moses and Elijah;
31 ૩૧ તેઓ બન્ને મહિમાવાન દેખાતા હતા, અને ઈસુનું મૃત્યુ જે યરુશાલેમમાં થવાનું હતું તે સંબંધી વાત કરતા હતા.
they appeared in glory and were explaining His ‘departure’, that He was about to bring to fruition in Jerusalem.
32 ૩૨ હવે પિતર તથા જેઓ ઈસુની સાથે હતા તેઓ ઊંઘે ઘેરાયલા હતા; પણ જયારે તેઓ જાગ્રત થયા, ત્યારે તેઓએ ઈસુનો મહિમા જોયું અને પેલા બે પુરુષોને પણ જોયા.
Now Peter and those with him were heavy with sleep; but becoming fully awake, they saw His glory, and the two men who stood with Him.
33 ૩૩ તેઓ ઈસુની પાસેથી વિદાય થતાં હતાં, ત્યારે પિતરે ઈસુને કહ્યું કે, ગુરુ, અહીં રહેવું આપણે માટે સારું છે; તો અમે ત્રણ મંડપ બનાવીએ, એક તમારે માટે, એક મૂસાને માટે અને એક એલિયાને માટે; પણ તે પોતે શું કહી રહ્યો છે તે સમજતો નહોતો.
Then it happened: as they were parting from Him, Peter said to Jesus: “Master, it is good for us to be here” and “Should we make three shelters: one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah?”—not knowing what he was saying.
34 ૩૪ તે એમ કહેતો હતો, એટલામાં એક વાદળું આવ્યું, અને તેઓ પર તેની છાયા પડી; અને તેઓ વાદળમાં પ્રવેશ્યા ત્યારે શિષ્યો ભયભીત થઈ ગયા.
But as he was saying this a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they became afraid as they entered the cloud.
And a Voice came out of the cloud, saying: “This is my beloved Son. Listen to Him!”
36 ૩૬ તે વાણી થઈ રહી, ત્યારે ઈસુ એકલા દેખાયા. અને તેઓ મૌન રહ્યા, અને જે જોયું હતું તેમાંનું કંઈ તેઓએ તે દિવસોમાં કોઈને કહ્યું નહિ.
When the Voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. (They kept quiet and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen.)
Now it happened on the next day, when they came down from the mountain, that a large crowd met Him.
38 ૩૮ અને, જુઓ, લોકો વચ્ચેથી એક માણસે બૂમો પાડીને કહ્યું કે, ‘ઉપદેશક, હું તમને વિનંતી કરું છું કે, મારા દીકરા પર દૃષ્ટિ કરો. કેમ કે તે મારો એકનો એક પુત્ર છે;
And then, a man from the crowd called out, saying: “Teacher, I beg you, look upon my son, for he is my only begotten.
39 ૩૯ એક દુષ્ટાત્મા તેને વળગે છે, અને એકાએક તે બૂમ પાડે છે; અને તે તેને એવો મરડે છે કે તેને ફીણ આવે છે, અને તેને ઘણી ઈજા કરીને માંડમાંડ તેને જતો કરે છે.
And oh, a spirit seizes him and he suddenly screams, and it convulses him with foaming, and it hardly departs from him, destroying him!
And I begged your disciples to cast it out, but they could not.”
41 ૪૧ ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપતા કહ્યું કે, ‘ઓ અવિશ્વાસી તથા ભ્રષ્ટ પેઢી, હું ક્યાં સુધી તમારી સાથે રહીશ, અને તમારું સહન કરીશ? તારા દીકરાને અહીં લાવ.’”
Then in answer Jesus said: “O unbelieving and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and put up with you (pl)? Bring your (sg) son here!”
42 ૪૨ તે આવતો હતો એટલામાં દુષ્ટાત્માએ તેને પછાડી નાખ્યો, અને તેને બહુ મરડ્યો પણ ઈસુએ અશુદ્ધ આત્માને ધમકાવ્યો, છોકરાંને સાજો કર્યો, અને તેને તેના બાપને પાછો સોંપ્યો.
But while he was still coming the demon threw him down and convulsed him. Then Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and gave him back to his father.
43 ૪૩ ઈશ્વરના મહા પરાક્રમથી તેઓ બધા ચકિત થઈ ગયા. પણ ઈસુએ જે જે કર્યું તે સઘળું જોઈને બધા આશ્ચર્યમાં ડૂબેલા હતા.
Everyone was amazed at the majesty of God. But while all were marveling at all the things which Jesus did, He said to His disciples,
44 ૪૪ ત્યારે ઈસુએ પોતાના શિષ્યોને કહ્યું, ‘આ વચનો તમારા મનમાં ઊતરવા દો; કેમ કે માણસનો દીકરો માણસોના હાથમાં સોંપાશે.’”
“Let these words sink into your ears, because the Son of the Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men.”
45 ૪૫ પણ એ વચન તેઓ સમજ્યા નહિ, અને તેઓથી તે ગુપ્ત રખાયું, એ માટે કે તેઓ તે સમજે નહિ અને આ વચન સંબંધી ઈસુને પૂછતાં તેમને બીક લાગતી હતી.
But they did not understand this saying; indeed it was concealed from them, in order that they should not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask Him about it.
Then an argument started among them as to which of them would be the greatest.
So Jesus, perceiving the reasoning of their heart, took a little child and had him stand beside Him,
48 ૪૮ ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘જે કોઈ મારે નામે આ બાળકનો સ્વીકાર કરે છે, તે મારો સ્વીકાર કરે છે અને જે કોઈ મારો સ્વીકાર કરે છે તે મને મોકલનારનો સ્વીકાર કરે છે; કેમ કે તમારામાંનો જે વ્યક્તિ નાનામાં નાનું છે એ સૌથી મહાન છે.’”
and said to them: “Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me receives Him who sent me. Further, he who is least among all of you, he will be great.”
49 ૪૯ યોહાને કહ્યું કે, ગુરુ, અમે એક માણસને તમારે નામે દુષ્ટાત્માઓ કાઢતાં જોયો; પણ તે અમારી સાથે આપનો અનુયાયી નહોતો એટલે અમે તેને મના કરી.’”
Then John reacted by saying, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us.”
So Jesus said to him, “Do not forbid, because he who is not against us is for us.”
51 ૫૧ એમ થયું કે ઈસુને ઉપર લઈ લેવાના દિવસો પૂરા થવા આવ્યા, ત્યારે તેમણે યરુશાલેમ જવાનો મક્કમ નિર્ણય કર્યો.
Now it happened, as the days for His Ascension approached, that He set His face to go to Jerusalem,
52 ૫૨ ઈસુએ પોતાની આગળ સંદેશવાહકો મોકલી આપ્યા, તેઓ તેમને માટે વ્યવસ્થા કરવા માટે સમરૂનીઓના એક ગામમાં ગયા.
and He sent messengers ahead of Him. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, so as to prepare for Him.
But they did not receive Him, because He was heading for Jerusalem.
54 ૫૪ તેમના શિષ્યો યાકૂબ તથા યોહાને એ જોઈને કહ્યું કે, ‘પ્રભુ, શું, તમારી એવી ઇચ્છા છે કે અમે આજ્ઞા કરીએ કે સ્વર્ગથી આગ પડીને તેઓનો નાશ કરે?’”
Well, when His disciples, James and John, saw this, they said, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven and consume them, just like Elijah did?”
But He turned and rebuked them saying: “You do not know of what sort of spirit you are.
Further, the Son of the Man did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save.” And they went to another village.
57 ૫૭ તેઓ માર્ગે ચાલતા હતા, તેવામાં કોઈ એકે ઈસુને કહ્યું કે, ‘પ્રભુ, જ્યાં કહીં તમે જશો ત્યાં હું તમારી પાછળ આવીશ.’”
Now as they journeyed on the road, it happened that someone said to Him, “Lord, I will follow you wherever you go.”
58 ૫૮ ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું કે, ‘શિયાળોને દર હોય છે અને આકાશના પક્ષીઓને માળા હોય છે; પણ માણસના દીકરાને માથું મૂકવાની જગ્યા નથી.’”
So Jesus said to him, “The foxes have dens and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of the Man has no place to lay His head.”
59 ૫૯ ઈસુએ બીજાને કહ્યું કે, ‘મારી પાછળ આવ.’ પણ તેણે કહ્યું કે, ‘પ્રભુ મને રજા આપ કે હું જઈને પહેલાં મારા પિતાને દફનાવીને આવું.’”
Then He said to another, “Follow me!” But he said, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.”
60 ૬૦ પણ તેમણે કહ્યું કે, ‘મરણ પામેલાંઓને પોતાનાં મરણ પામેલાંઓને દફનાવવા દો. પણ તું જઈને ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યની વાત પ્રગટ કર.’”
Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the Kingdom of God.”
61 ૬૧ અને બીજાએ પણ કહ્યું કે, ‘હે પ્રભુ, હું તમારી પાછળ આવીશ; પણ પહેલાં જે મારે ઘરે છે તેઓને છેલ્લી સલામ કરી આવવાની મને રજા આપો.’”
And another also said, “I will follow you, Lord, but first allow me to bid farewell to those who are at my house.”
62 ૬૨ પણ ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું કે, ‘કોઈ માણસ હળ ઉપર હાથ મૂક્યા પછી પાછળ જુએ તો તે ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યને યોગ્ય નથી.’”
But Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to ‘the plow’ and looks back is suitable for the Kingdom of God.”
