1 ૧ થોડા સમય પછી ઈસુએ શહેરેશહેર તથા ગામેગામ ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યની સુવાર્તા પ્રગટ કરી અને બાર શિષ્યો પણ તેમની સાથે હતા,
And it came to pass afterwards that he went through [the country] city by city, and village by village, preaching and announcing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God; and the twelve [were] with him,
2 ૨ કેટલીક સ્ત્રીઓને દુષ્ટાત્માઓથી તથા રોગોથી સાજી કરવામાં આવી હતી, તેઓમાં જેનાંમાંથી સાત દુષ્ટાત્માઓને કાઢવામાં આવ્યા હતા તે મગ્દલાની મરિયમ,
and certain women who had been healed of wicked spirits and infirmities, Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,
3 ૩ હેરોદના કારભારી ખોઝાની પત્ની યોહાન્ના, સુસાન્ના તથા બીજી ઘણી સ્ત્રીઓ, જેઓ પોતાના નાણાં વાપરીને ઈસુની સેવા કરતી હતી તેઓ પણ તેમની સાથે હતી.
and Joanna, wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, who ministered to him of their substance.
4 ૪ જયારે ઘણાં લોકો એકઠા થયા, અને શહેરે શહેરના લોક તેમની પાસે આવ્યા, ત્યારે તેમણે દ્રષ્ટાંત કહ્યું કે,
And a great crowd coming together, and those who were coming to him out of each city, he spoke by parable:
5 ૫ ‘એક માણસ બીજ વાવવાને ગયો, વાવતાં વાવતાં કેટલાક બીજ માર્ગની કોરે પડ્યાં. તે પગ નીચે કચરાઈ ગયા અને આકાશના પક્ષીઓ તે બીજ ખાઈ ગયા.
The sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell along the way, and it was trodden under foot, and the birds of the heaven devoured it up;
and other fell upon the rock, and having sprung up, it was dried up because it had not moisture;
and other fell in the midst of the thorns, and the thorns having sprung up with [it] choked it;
8 ૮ વળી બીજાં બીજ સારી જમીનમાં પડ્યાં, તે ઊગ્યાં અને તેને સોગણો પાક થયો,’ એ વાતો કહેતાં ઈસુએ ઊંચા અવાજે કહ્યું કે, જેને સાંભળવાને કાન છે તે સાંભળે.’”
and other fell into the good ground, and having sprung up bore fruit a hundredfold. As he said these things he cried, He that has ears to hear, let him hear.
And his disciples asked him [saying], What may this parable be?
10 ૧૦ ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, ‘ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યના મર્મ જાણવાનું તમને આપેલું છે, પણ બીજાઓને દ્રષ્ટાંતોમાં, કે જેથી જોતાં તેઓ જુએ નહિ, ને સાંભળતાં તેઓ સમજે નહિ.
And he said, To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest in parables, in order that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.
But the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 ૧૨ અને માર્ગની કોર પરનાં તો સાંભળનારાં માણસો છે; પછી શેતાન આવીને તેઓનાં મનમાંથી સંદેશ લઈ જાય છે, એ માટે કે તેઓ વિશ્વાસ ન કરે અને ઉદ્ધાર ન પામે.
But those by the wayside are those who hear; then comes the devil and takes away the word from their heart that they may not believe and be saved.
13 ૧૩ પથ્થર પર પડેલાં બીજ તો એ છે કે, જેઓ સાંભળીને સંદેશને આનંદથી માની લે છે; અને તેઓને મૂળ કે આધાર ન હોવાથી, તેઓ થોડીવાર સુધી વિશ્વાસ કરે છે, પણ પરીક્ષણના સમયે પાછા હઠી જાય છે.
But those upon the rock, those who when they hear receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a time, and in time of trial fall away.
14 ૧૪ કાંટાઓમાં પડેલાં બી એ છે કે, જેઓએ સંદેશ સાંભળ્યો છે, પણ પોતાને માર્ગે ચાલતાં ભૌતિક જગતની ચિંતાઓ તથા દ્રવ્ય તથા વિલાસથી તે દબાઈ જાય છે, અને તેઓને પાકું ફળ આવતું નથી.
But that that fell where the thorns were, these are they who having heard go away and are choked under cares and riches and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
15 ૧૫ અને સારી જમીનમાં પડેલાં એ છે કે, જેઓ સંદેશો સાંભળીને પ્રમાણિક તથા સારાં હૃદયથી વાત ગ્રહણ કરે છે, અને ધીરજથી ફળ આપે છે.
But that in the good ground, these are they who in an honest and good heart, having heard the word keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
16 ૧૬ વળી કોઈ માણસ દીવો સળગાવીને તેને વાસણ નીચે ઢાંકતો નથી, અથવા ખાટલા નીચે મૂકતો નથી; પણ તેને દીવી પર મૂકે છે કે અંદર આવનારાઓને અજવાળું મળે.
And no one having lighted a lamp covers it with a vessel or puts it under a couch, but sets it on a lamp-stand, that they who enter in may see the light.
17 ૧૭ કારણ કે, એવી કોઈ છૂપી વસ્તુ નથી કે તે ખુલ્લી નહિ થાય અને જણાશે નહિ, તથા ઉધાડું થશે નહિ, એવું કંઈ ગુપ્ત નથી.
For there is nothing hid which shall not become manifest, nor secret which shall not be known and come to light.
18 ૧૮ માટે તમે કેવી રીતે સાંભળો છો તે વિષે સાવધાન રહો; કેમ કે જેની પાસે છે તેને અપાશે; અને જેની પાસે નથી તેની પાસેથી તેનું જે છે તે પણ લઈ લેવાશે.’”
Take heed therefore how ye hear; for whosoever has, to him shall be given, and whosoever has not, even what he seems to have shall be taken from him.
And his mother and his brethren came to him, and could not get to him because of the crowd.
20 ૨૦ અને ઈસુને કોઈએ ખબર આપી કે, ‘તમારી મા તથા તમારા ભાઈઓ બહાર ઊભા રહ્યાં છે, અને તમને મળવા માગે છે.’”
And it was told him [saying], Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, wishing to see thee.
21 ૨૧ પણ તેમણે ઉત્તર આપતાં તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘આ જેઓ ઈશ્વરનાં વચનને સાંભળે છે તથા પાળે છે તેઓ મારાં મા તથા ભાઈઓ છે.’”
But he answering said to them, My mother and my brethren are those who hear the word of God and do [it].
22 ૨૨ એક દિવસે એમ થયું કે, ઈસુ પોતાના શિષ્યોની સાથે હોડીમાં બેઠા; ત્યારે ઈસુએ શિષ્યોને કહ્યું કે, ‘આપણે સરોવરને સામે પાર જઈએ;’ અને તેઓ નીકળ્યા.
And it came to pass on one of the days, that he entered into a ship, himself and his disciples; and he said to them, Let us pass over to the other side of the lake; and they set off from shore.
23 ૨૩ અને તેઓ હંકારતા હતા એટલામાં ઈસુ ઊંધી ગયા; અને સરોવર પર પવનનું ભારે તોફાન આવ્યું; પાણીથી હોડી ભરાઈ જવા લાગી, ને તેઓ જોખમમાં આવી પડ્યા.
And as they sailed, he fell asleep; and a sudden squall of wind came down on the lake, and they were filled [with water], and were in danger;
24 ૨૪ એટલે શિષ્યો ઈસુ પાસે આવ્યા, અને તેમને જગાડીને કહ્યું કે, ‘ગુરુજી ગુરુજી, અમે નાશ પામીએ છીએ!’ ત્યારે તેમણે ઊભા થઈને પવનને તથા પાણીનાં મોજાંને ધમકાવ્યાં, એટલે તોફાન બંધ થયું અને શાંતિ થઈ.
and coming to [him] they woke him up, saying, Master, master, we perish. But he, rising up, rebuked the wind and the raging of the water; and they ceased, and there was a calm.
25 ૨૫ ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘તમારો વિશ્વાસ ક્યાં છે?’ તેઓ ભયથી આશ્ચર્ય પામ્યા અને એકબીજાને કહેવા લાગ્યા કે, ‘આ તે કોણ છે કે પવનને તથા પાણીને પણ આજ્ઞા કરે છે અને તે તેમનું માને છે?’”
And he said to them, Where is your faith? And, being afraid, they were astonished, saying to one another, Who then is this, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?
And they arrived in the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.
27 ૨૭ પછી ઈસુ કિનારે ઊતર્યા, ત્યારે શહેરમાંથી એક માણસ તેમની સામે આવ્યો. તેને દુષ્ટાત્માઓ વળગેલો હતો; ઘણાં સમયથી તે પોતાનાં વસ્ત્રો પહેરતો ન હતો. અને ઘરમાં નહિ, પણ કબરોમાં રહેતો હતો.
And as he got out [of the ship] on the land, a certain man out of the city met him, who had demons a long time, and put on no clothes, and did not abide in a house, but in the tombs.
28 ૨૮ તેણે ઈસુને જોયા ત્યારે તે બૂમ પાડીને તેમની આગળ પડ્યો અને મોટે ઘાંટે કહ્યું કે, ‘ઓ ઈસુ, પરાત્પર ઈશ્વરના દીકરા, મારે અને તમારે શું છે? હું તમને વિનંતી કરું છું કે મને પીડા ન દો.’”
But seeing Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus Son of the Most High God? I beseech thee torment me not.
29 ૨૯ કારણ કે ઈસુએ અશુદ્ધ આત્માને તે માણસમાંથી બહાર નીકળવાની આજ્ઞા કરી હતી. એ દુષ્ટાત્મા તે માણસને વારંવાર વળગ્યા કરતો હતો; અને તેઓ તેને સાંકળોથી તથા બેડીઓથી બાંધતા, પણ તે બંધનો તોડી નાખતો અને દુષ્ટાત્મા તેને જંગલમાં લઈ જતો હતો.
For he had commanded the unclean spirit to go out from the man. For very often it had seized him; and he had been bound, kept with chains and fetters; and breaking the bonds he was driven by the demon into the deserts.
30 ૩૦ ઈસુએ તેને પૂછ્યું કે, ‘તારું નામ શું છે?’ તેણે કહ્યું કે, ‘સેના,’ કેમ કે તેનામાં ઘણાં દુષ્ટાત્માઓ હતાં.
And Jesus asked him saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: for many demons had entered into him.
31 ૩૧ દુષ્ટાત્માઓએ ઈસુને વિનંતી કરી કે, ‘અમને નીકળીને અનંતઊંડાણમાં જવાનો હુકમ ન કરો.’” (Abyssos g12)
And they besought him that he would not command them to go away into the bottomless pit. (Abyssos g12)
32 ૩૨ હવે ત્યાં ઘણાં ભૂંડોનું ટોળું પર્વતની બાજુ પર ચરતું હતું; અને તેઓએ તેમને વિનંતી કરી કે, અમને ‘તેઓમાં પેસવાની રજા આપો.’ ઈસુએ તેઓને રજા આપી.
And there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain, and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into those; and he suffered them.
33 ૩૩ દુષ્ટાત્માઓ તે માણસમાંથી નીકળીને ભૂંડોમાં ગયાં; અને ટોળું ટેકરા ઉપરથી સમુદ્રમાં પડી ગયું અને ડૂબી મર્યું.
And the demons, going out from the man, entered into the swine, and the herd rushed down the precipice into the lake, and were choked.
But they that fed [them], seeing what had happened, fled, and told [it] to the city and to the country.
35 ૩૫ જે થયું તે જોવા સારુ લોકો નીકળ્યા, અને ઈસુની પાસે આવ્યા; ત્યારે જે માણસમાંથી દુષ્ટાત્માઓ નીકળ્યાં હતાં તેને તેઓએ વસ્ત્ર પહેરેલો તથા હોશમાં આવેલો ઈસુના પગ આગળ બેઠેલો જોયો; અને તેઓ ભયભીત થયા.
And they went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting, clothed and sensible, at the feet of Jesus. And they were afraid.
And they also who had seen it told them how the possessed man had been healed.
37 ૩૭ ગેરાસાનીઓની આસપાસના દેશમાં સર્વ લોકોએ ઈસુને વિનંતી કરી કે, ‘અમારી પાસેથી ચાલ્યા જાઓ.’ તેઓ ખૂબ ડરી ગયા હતા. પછી હોડીમાં બેસીને તે પાછા ગયા.
And all the multitude of the surrounding country of the Gadarenes asked him to depart from them, for they were possessed with great fear; and he, entering into the ship, returned.
38 ૩૮ પણ જે માણસમાંથી દુષ્ટાત્માઓ નીકળ્યા હતા તેણે તેમની સાથે રહેવા સારુ વિનંતી કરી; પણ ઈસુએ તેને વિદાય કરતાં કહ્યું કે,
But the man out of whom the demons had gone besought him that he might be with him. But he sent him away, saying,
39 ૩૯ ‘તારે ઘરે પાછો જા, અને ઈશ્વરે તારે માટે કેવાં મોટાં કામ કર્યાં છે તે કહી જણાવ.’ અને તેણે જઈને ઈસુએ કેવાં મોટાં કામ તેને સારુ કર્યા હતાં, તે આખા શહેરમાં કહી જણાવ્યું.
Return to thine house and relate how great things God has done for thee. And he went away through the whole city, publishing how great things Jesus had done for him.
And it came to pass when Jesus returned, the crowd received him gladly, for they were all expecting him.
41 ૪૧ જુઓ, યાઈરસ નામે એક માણસ આવ્યો, અને તે સભાસ્થાનનો અધિકારી હતો; અને તેણે ઈસુને પગે પડીને તેને વિનંતી કરી કે, ‘મારે ઘરે પધારો.’”
And behold, a man came, whose name was Jairus, and he was [a] ruler of the synagogue, and falling at the feet of Jesus besought him to come to his house,
42 ૪૨ કેમ કે તેને આશરે બાર વર્ષની એકની એક દીકરી હતી અને તે મરવાની અણી પર હતી. ઈસુ જતા હતા તે દરમિયાન ઘણાં લોકોએ તેમના પર પડાપડી કરી.
because he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. And as he went the crowds thronged him.
43 ૪૩ એક સ્ત્રીને બાર વર્ષથી લોહીવાનો રોગ થયો હતો, અને તેણે પોતાનાં બધાં નાણાં વૈદો પાછળ ખરચી નાખ્યાં હતાં પણ કોઈ તેનો રોગ મટાડી શક્યા ન હતા.
And a woman who had a flux of blood since twelve years, who, having spent all her living on physicians, could not be cured by any one,
coming up behind, touched the hem of his garment, and immediately her flux of blood stopped.
45 ૪૫ ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, ‘મને કોણે સ્પર્શ કર્યો? અને બધાએ ના પાડી, ત્યારે પિતર તથા જે તેની સાથે હતા તેઓએ કહ્યું કે, ‘ગુરુ, ઘણાં લોકો તમારા ઉપર પડાપડી કરે છે, અને તમને દબાવી દે છે.’”
And Jesus said, Who has touched me? But all denying, Peter and those with him said, Master, the crowds close thee in and press upon thee, and sayest thou, Who has touched me?
46 ૪૬ પણ ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, ‘કોઈ મને અડક્યું ખરું; કેમ કે મારામાંથી પરાક્રમ નીકળ્યું એવી મને ખબર પડી.’”
And Jesus said, Some one has touched me, for I have known that power has gone out from me.
47 ૪૭ જયારે તે સ્ત્રીએ જાણ્યું કે હું છૂપી રહી શકી નહિ, ત્યારે તે ધ્રૂજતી ધ્રૂજતી આવી, અને તેમને પગે પડીને શા કારણથી તેણે તેમને સ્પર્શ કર્યો હતો અને શી રીતે તરત સાજી થઈ હતી, તે તેણે બધા લોકોની આગળ ઈસુને કહી સંભળાવ્યું.
And the woman, seeing that she was not hid, came trembling, and falling down before him declared before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was immediately healed.
And he said to her, [Be of good courage, ] daughter; thy faith has healed thee; go in peace.
49 ૪૯ ઈસુ હજી બોલતા હતા એટલામાં સભાસ્થાનના અધિકારીને ત્યાંથી એક માણસે આવીને તેને કહ્યું કે, ‘તારી દીકરી મરી ગઈ છે, ગુરુને તસ્દી ન આપીશ.’”
While he was yet speaking, comes some one from the ruler of the synagogue, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; do not trouble the teacher.
50 ૫૦ પણ તે સાંભળીને ઈસુએ તેને ઉત્તર આપ્યો કે, ‘ગભરાઈશ નહિ, માત્ર વિશ્વાસ કર, અને તારી દીકરી સાજી થશે.’”
But Jesus, hearing it, answered him saying, Fear not: only believe, and she shall be made well.
51 ૫૧ ઈસુ ઘરમાં પહોંચ્યા, ત્યારે પિતર, યાકૂબ, યોહાન, અને છોકરીનાં માબાપ સિવાય ઈસુએ કોઈને પોતાની સાથે આવવા દીધાં નહિ.
And when he came to the house he suffered no one to go in but Peter and John and James and the father of the child and the mother.
52 ૫૨ ત્યાં બધાં લોકો છોકરી પાછળ રડતાં તથા વિલાપ કરતાં હતાં; પણ ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, રડશો નહિ; તે મરી ગઈ નથી, પણ ઊંઘે છે.
And all were weeping and lamenting her. But he said, Do not weep, for she has not died, but sleeps.
And they derided him, knowing that she had died.
But he, having turned them all out and taking hold of her hand, cried saying, Child, arise.
And her spirit returned, and immediately she rose up; and he commanded [something] to eat to be given to her.
56 ૫૬ તેનાં માબાપ આશ્ચર્યચકિત થયાં; પણ તેણે તેઓને તાકીદ કરી કે, ‘જે થયું તે વિષે કોઈને કશું કહેશો નહિ.’”
And her parents were amazed; but he enjoined them to tell no one what had happened.
