યર્મિયાનો વિલાપ 3

1 ૧ હું એક એવો પુરુષ છું કે જેણે યહોવાહના કોપની સોટીથી દુઃખ ભોગવ્યું.

I [, the one who am writing this, ] am a man who has been afflicted/punished [MTY] by Yahweh because he was angry.

2 ૨ તેમણે મને પ્રકાશમાં નહિ પણ અંધકારમાં દોરીને ચલાવ્યો.

[It was as though] he caused me to walk in a very dark place without any light [at all].

3 ૩ તેઓ ચોક્કસ આખો દિવસ મારી વિરુદ્ધ અવારનવાર પોતાનો હાથ ફેરવે છે.

He has punished [IDM] me many times, all day, [every] day.

4 ૪ તેમણે મારું માંસ તથા મારી ચામડીને નુકશાન પહોંચાડ્યું છે; તેમણે મારાં હાડકાં ભાંગી નાખ્યાં છે.

He has caused my skin and my flesh to become old. He has broken my bones.

5 ૫ દુ: ખ અને સંતાપની કોટડીમાં પૂરીને તેમણે મને બાંધીને ઘેરી લીધો છે.

He has surrounded me [DOU] with bitterness and suffering.

6 ૬ તેમણે મને પુરાતન કાળના મરણ પામેલા એક પુરુષની જેમ અંધકારમાં પૂરી રાખ્યો છે.

[It is as though] he has buried me in a dark place like [SIM] [the graves of] those who have been dead for a long time.

7 ૭ તેમણે મને દીવાલથી ઘેરી લીધો છે, જેથી મારાથી બહાર નીકળાય નહિ. તેમણે ભારે સાંકળોથી મને બાંધી દીધો છે.

[It is as though] [MET] he has built a wall around me, and fastened/tied me with heavy chains, and I cannot escape.

8 ૮ જ્યારે હું પોકાર કરીને સહાય માગુ છું, ત્યારે તેઓ મારી પ્રાર્થના પાછી વાળે છે.

Although I call out and cry out for him to help me, he does not pay attention to my prayers.

9 ૯ તેમણે ઘડેલા પથ્થરોથી મારા માર્ગોને બંધ કર્યા છે; તેમણે મારા રસ્તાને વાંકાચૂંકા કર્યા છે.

[It is as though] he has blocked my path with a [high] stone [wall] and has caused my path to become crooked.

10 ૧૦ તેઓ રીંછની જેમ સંતાઈને મારી રાહ જુએ છે અને ગુપ્તમાં રહેનાર સિંહની જેમ મને પકડવા સંતાઈ રહે છે.

He has waited to attack me like [SIM] a bear or a lion hides and waits [to attack other animals].

11 ૧૧ તેમણે મારા માર્ગો મરડી નાખ્યા છે. તેમણે મને ફાડીને નિરાધાર કર્યો છે.

[It is as though] he has dragged me off the path and (mauled me/torn me into pieces), and left me without help.

12 ૧૨ તેમણે પોતાનું ધનુષ્ય ખેંચ્યું છે અને મને તીરના નિશાન તરીકે ઊભો રાખ્યો છે.

[It is as though] [MET] he bent his bow and caused me to become the target [at which he shot] his arrows.

13 ૧૩ તેમણે પોતાના ભાથાનાં બાણ મારા અંતઃકરણમાં માર્યા છે.

[It is as though] he shot his arrows deep into my body.

14 ૧૪ હું મારા લોકો સમક્ષ હાંસીપાત્ર થયો છું અને તેઓ આખો દિવસ મને ચીડવતાં ગીતો ગાય છે.

All my relatives laugh at me; all day, [every] day they sing songs that make fun of me.

15 ૧૫ તેમણે મને કડવી વેલથી ભરી દીધું છે અને મને કટુઝેરથી ભરી દીધો છે.

He has filled me with (bitterness/great suffering), [like] [MET] someone who drinks a very bitter liquid suffers.

16 ૧૬ વળી તેમણે મારા દાંત કાંકરાથી ભાંગી નાખ્યા છે; તેમણે મને રાખથી ઢાંકી દીધો છે.

[It is as though] he has caused me to chew gravel that broke my teeth, and he has trampled me in the dirt.

17 ૧૭ તમે મારો જીવ સુખશાંતિથી દૂર કર્યો છે; સમૃદ્ધિ શું છે તે હું ભૂલી ગયો છું.

Things no longer go well for me; I no longer remember being prosperous.

18 ૧૮ તેથી મેં કહ્યું, “મારું બળ ખૂટી ગયું છે, એટલે યહોવાહ તરફથી મારી આશા નષ્ટ થઈ ગઈ છે!”

I [continued to] say [to myself], “I no longer expect to live much longer; I no longer confidently expect [to receive good things] from Yahweh!”

19 ૧૯ મારું કષ્ટ તથા મારું દુઃખ, મારી કટુતા તથા કડવાશનું સ્મરણ કરો!

When I think about my suffering and my wandering [away from home], [it is like drinking] a very bitter [DOU] liquid.

20 ૨૦ મારો જીવ તેમનું સ્મરણ કરીને મારામાં દીન થઈ ગયો છે.

I will never forget this time when I feel very depressed/discouraged [IDM].

21 ૨૧ પણ હું તેનું મારા હૃદયમાં સ્મરણ કરું છું; મારે મને આશા છે.

However, I confidently expect [Yahweh to do good things for me again] when I think about this:

22 ૨૨ યહોવાહની કૃપાને લીધે આપણે નાશ પામ્યા નથી, કેમ કે તેમની દયાનો કદી અંત નથી!

Yahweh never stops faithfully loving [us], and he never stops being kind to us.

23 ૨૩ દરરોજ સવારે તમારી કૃપા નવી થાય છે, તમારું વિશ્વાસુપણું મહાન છે!

[He is the one whom we can] always trust/lean on. Every morning he is merciful [to us again].

24 ૨૪ મારો જીવ કહે છે, “યહોવાહ મારો હિસ્સો છે;” તેથી હું તેમનામાં મારી આશા મૂકું છું.

[So] I say to myself, “Yahweh is all that I need; so I will confidently wait for him [to do good things for me].”

25 ૨૫ જેઓ તેમની રાહ જુએ છે અને જે માણસ તેમને શોધે છે તેઓ પ્રત્યે યહોવાહ ભલા છે.

Yahweh is good to [all] those who depend on him, to those who seek his [help].

26 ૨૬ યહોવાહના ઉદ્ધારની આશા રાખવી અને શાંતિથી તેમના આવવાની રાહ જોવી તે સારું છે.

[So] it is good for us to wait quietly for Yahweh to save/rescue [us].

27 ૨૭ જુવાનીમાં ઝૂંસરી ઉપાડવી એ માણસને માટે સારું છે.

And it is good for us to [patiently] endure [suffering] while we are young.

28 ૨૮ યહોવાહે તેના પર ઝૂંસરી મૂકી છે, તેથી તે એકાંતમાં બેસીને શાંત રહે.

Those [who seek his help] should sit by themselves, silently, [knowing that] it is Yahweh who has allowed/caused them to suffer.

29 ૨૯ તે પોતાનું મુખ ધૂળમાં નાખે, કદાચિત તેને આશા ઉત્પન્ન થાય.

They should lie in the dirt, with their faces on the ground, [because] they can still hope [that Yahweh will help them].

30 ૩૦ જે તેને મારે છે તેના તરફ તે પોતાનો ગાલ ધરે. તે અપમાનથી ભરપૂર થાય.

If someone strikes us on one cheek, we should turn the other cheek toward that person [in order that he may strike it, too], and accept/endure it when we are insulted.

31 ૩૧ કેમ કે પ્રભુ આપણને કદી પણ નકારશે નહિ!

Yahweh does not abandon [us his people] forever.

32 ૩૨ કેમ કે જો કે તેઓ દુઃખ આપે, તોપણ પોતાની પુષ્કળ કૃપા પ્રમાણે તેઓ દયા કરશે.

Sometimes he causes us to suffer, but sometimes he is kind [to us] because he continually and faithfully loves [us].

33 ૩૩ કેમ કે તેઓ રાજીખુશીથી કોઈને પણ દુ: ખ દેતા નથી અને માણસોને ખિન્ન કરતા નથી.

And he is not happy about causing human beings to suffer or to be sad.

34 ૩૪ પૃથ્વીના સર્વ કેદીઓને પગ નીચે કચડી નાખવા,

If people (mistreat all the prisoners/crush all the prisoners under their feet)

35 ૩૫ પરાત્પરની સંમુખ કોઈનો હક પડાવી લેવો,

or if they rebel against God by refusing to give to people the things that it is right for them [to receive],

36 ૩૬ કોઈનો દાવો બગાડવો, એ શું પ્રભુ જોતાં નથી?

or if they cause judges to decide matters unjustly, (does Yahweh not see all those things?/Yahweh certainly sees all those things!) [RHQ]

37 ૩૭ પ્રભુની આજ્ઞા ન છતાં કોના કહ્યા પ્રમાણે થાય?

No one can [RHQ] command something to happen [and then cause it to happen] if Yahweh has not already decided that it should happen.

38 ૩૮ પરાત્પર ઈશ્વરના મુખમાંથી દુઃખ તથા સુખ બન્ને નીકળે કે નહિ?

God in heaven [MTY] is [RHQ] the one who causes disasters to happen, and he [also] causes good things to happen.

39 ૩૯ જીવતો માણસ શા માટે ફરિયાદ કરે છે, પોતાના પાપની સજા થવાથી તે શા માટે કચકચ કરે?

[So] it is certainly not [RHQ] right for us, who are only humans, to complain when he punishes us for the sins that we have committed.

40 ૪૦ આપણે આપણા માર્ગો ચકાસીને તેમની કસોટી કરીએ અને આપણે યહોવાહ તરફ પાછા ફરીએ.

Instead, we should (examine/think carefully about) our behavior; we should turn back to Yahweh.

41 ૪૧ આપણે આકાશમાંના ઈશ્વરની તરફ આપણા હાથ અને આપણું હૃદય ઊંચાં કરીને પ્રાર્થના કરીએ.

We should pray [IDM] sincerely and lift up our arms toward God in heaven, [and say, ]

42 ૪૨ “અમે અપરાધ તથા બંડ કર્યો છે અને તમે અમને માફ કર્યા નથી.

“We have sinned and rebelled [against you], and you have not forgiven [us].

43 ૪૩ તમે અમને કોપથી ઢાંકી દીધા તથા સતાવ્યા છે. તમે અમારી કતલ કરી અને દયા રાખી નથી.

You have surrounded us with your anger and pursued us; you have slaughtered [us] without pitying us.

44 ૪૪ અમારી પ્રાર્થના પેલે પાર જાય નહિ, માટે તમે વાદળથી પોતાને ઢાંકી દીધા.

You have hidden yourself in a cloud, with the result that you do not hear [us] when we pray.

45 ૪૫ તમે અમને પ્રજાઓની વચમાં કચરા અને ઉકરડા જેવા બનાવી મૂક્યા છે.

You have caused [the people of other] nations to consider us to be only garbage [DOU].

46 ૪૬ અમારી વિરુદ્ધ મુખ ઉઘાડીને અમારા સર્વ શત્રુઓએ અમારી હાંસી કરી છે.

All our enemies have insulted us.

47 ૪૭ ભય તથા ખાડો, પાયમાલી તથા નાશ, અમારા પર આવી પડ્યાં છે.”

We are constantly afraid [DOU], [because] we have experienced disasters and ruin [DOU].”

48 ૪૮ મારા લોકોની દીકરીના નાશને લીધે મારી આંખમાંથી આંસુની નદીઓ વહે છે.

I cry a lot because my people have been destroyed.

49 ૪૯ મારી આંખોમાંથી આંસુ વહ્યા કરશે અને બંધ નહિ થાય, કેમ કે તેનો અંત નથી

My tears continually flow; they will not stop

50 ૫૦ જ્યાં સુધી યહોવાહ આકાશમાંથી દ્રષ્ટિ કરીને જુએ નહિ ત્યાં સુધી,

until Yahweh looks down from heaven and sees [us].

51 ૫૧ મારા નગરની સર્વ કુમારિકાઓની દશા જોઈને મારી આંખો સૂજી ગઈ છે.

I am very grieved because of [what has happened to] the women of my city.

52 ૫૨ તેઓ કારણ વગર મારા શત્રુ થયા છે અને પક્ષીની જેમ મારો શિકાર કર્યો છે.

Those who are my enemies hunted for me like [SIM] [people hunt for] a bird [to kill it] [even though] there was no reason [for them to do that].

53 ૫૩ તેઓએ મને જીવતો ખાડામાં નાખ્યો છે અને તેમણે મારા પર પથ્થરો ફેંક્યા છે.

They threw me into a pit to kill me, and they threw stones on top of me.

54 ૫૪ મારા માથા પર પાણી ફરી વળ્યાં; મેં કહ્યું, “હું મરી ગયો છું!”

The water [in the pit] rose above my head, and I said [to myself], “I am about to die/drown!”

55 ૫૫ હે યહોવાહ, કારાગૃહના નીચલા ભોંયરામાંથી મેં તમારા નામનો પોકાર કર્યો.

But from the bottom of the pit I cried out to you [MTY], “Yahweh, [help me]!”

56 ૫૬ જ્યારે મેં કહ્યું, ત્યારે તમે મારું સાંભળ્યું, “હું મદદ માટે હાંક મારું, ત્યારે તમે તમારા કાન બંધ ન કરશો.”

I pleaded with you, “Do not refuse to heed [MTY] me while I cry out to you!”

57 ૫૭ જે દિવસે મેં તમને હાંક મારી ત્યારે તમે મારી પાસે આવ્યા અને મને કહ્યું, “બીશ નહિ!”

Then you answered me and said, “Do not be afraid!”

58 ૫૮ હે પ્રભુ, તમે મારો બચાવ કર્યો છે અને મારો ઉદ્ધાર કર્યો છે.

Yahweh, you defended me; you did not allow me to die.

59 ૫૯ હે યહોવાહ, તમે મને થયેલા અન્યાય જોયા છે. તમે મારો ન્યાય કરો.

[Now], Yahweh, you have seen the evil things that my enemies have done to me, [so] decide my case [and show that I am right]!

60 ૬૦ મારા પ્રત્યેની તેમની વેરવૃત્તિ અને મારી વિરુદ્ધના સર્વ કાવતરાં તમે જોયા છે.

You know the evil things that they have planned to do to me.

61 ૬૧ હે યહોવાહ, તેઓએ કરેલી મારી નિંદા તથા તેઓએ મારી વિરુદ્ધ કરેલા સર્વ કાવતરાં તમે સાંભળ્યાં છે.

Yahweh, you have heard them insult [me] and what they have planned to do to me.

62 ૬૨ મારા વિરોધીઓ આખો દિવસ મારી વિરુદ્ધ બોલે છે. તમે તેમના ષડ્યંત્રો જાણો છો.

Every day they whisper and mutter things about me, all day long.

63 ૬૩ પછી ભલે તેઓ બેઠા હોય કે ઊભા હોય, તેઓ મારી મશ્કરી ઉડાવ્યે રાખે છે.

Look at them! Whether they are standing or sitting they make fun of me with the songs that they sing.

64 ૬૪ હે યહોવાહ, તમે તેમના હાથની કરણી પ્રમાણે તેઓને બદલો આપજો.

Yahweh, cause them to suffer in return for their causing [me] to suffer!

65 ૬૫ તમે તેઓની બુદ્ધિ જડ બનાવી દેજો અને તેઓના પર શાપ વરસાવજો.

Curse them [IDM] [for] their being very stubborn [IDM].

66 ૬૬ ક્રોધે ભરાઈને પીછો કરીને તમે તેઓનો નાશ કરજો અને હે યહોવાહ, તમે તેઓનો પૃથ્વી પરથી સંહાર કરજો!

Because you are angry with them, pursue them and get rid of them, [until none of them remain] on the earth.
