અયૂબ 6

1 ૧ પછી અયૂબે જવાબ આપ્યો અને કહ્યું કે,

And Job answers and says:

2 ૨ “અરે, મારી વિપત્તિઓનો તોલ થાય, અને મારું સંકટ એકત્ર કરીને ત્રાજવે તોલી શકાય તો કેવું સારું!

“O that my provocation were thoroughly weighed, And my calamity in balances They would lift up together!

3 ૩ કેમ કે ત્યારે તો તે સમુદ્રોની રેતી કરતાં પણ ભારે થાય. તેથી મારું બોલવું અવિચારી હતું.

For now it is heavier than the sands of the sea, Therefore my words have been rash.

4 ૪ કેમ કે સર્વશક્તિમાનનાં બાણ મારા હૃદયમાં વાગે છે, અને તેમનું વિષ મારો આત્મા ચૂસી લે છે; ઈશ્વરનો ત્રાસ મારી સામે લડવા ઊભો છે.

For arrows of the Mighty [are] with me, Whose poison is drinking up my spirit. Terrors of God array themselves [for] me!

5 ૫ શું જંગલી ગધેડાની આગળ ઘાસ હોય તો તે ભૂંકે? અથવા બળદની આગળ ઘાસ હોય છતાં શું તે બરાડા પાડે?

Does a wild donkey bray over tender grass? Does an ox low over his provender?

6 ૬ શું ફિક્કી વસ્તુ મીઠા વગર ખવાય? અથવા શું ઈંડાની સફેદીમાં કંઈ સ્વાદ હોય?

Is an insipid thing eaten without salt? Is there sense in the drivel of dreams?

7 ૭ હું તેને અડકવા માગતો નથી; તે મને કંટાળાજનક અન્ન જેવાં લાગે છે.

My soul is refusing to touch! They [are] as my sickening food.

8 ૮ અરે, જો મારી વિનંતી સફળ થાય; અને જેની હું આશા રાખું છું તે જો ઈશ્વર મને બક્ષે!

O that my request may come, That God may grant my hope!

9 ૯ એટલે ઈશ્વર કૃપા કરીને મને કચરી નાખે, અને પોતાના છૂટા હાથથી મને મારી નાખે તો કેવું સારું!

That God would please—and bruise me, Loose His hand and cut me off!

10 ૧૦ તેથી હજીયે મને દિલાસો થાય. હા, અસહ્ય દુ: ખ હોવા છતાં હું આનંદ માનું, કેમ કે મેં પવિત્ર ઈશ્વરનાં વચનોની અવગણના કરી નથી.

And yet it is my comfort (And I exult in pain—He does not spare), That I have not hidden The sayings of the Holy One.

11 ૧૧ મારું બળ શું છે કે હું સહન કરું? અને મારો અંત કેવો આવવાનો છે કે હવે હું ધીરજ રાખું?

What [is] my power that I should hope? And what [is] my end that I should prolong my life?

12 ૧૨ શું મારી મજબૂતી પથ્થરોની મજબૂતી જેવી છે? શું મારું શરીર પિત્તળનું છે?

Is my strength the strength of stones? Is my flesh bronze?

13 ૧૩ શું તે સાચું નથી કે હું મારી જાતને મદદ કરી શકતો નથી, શું બુદ્ધિથી કામ કરવાની શક્તિનો મારામાં લોપ થયો નથી?

Is my help not with me, And substance driven from me?

14 ૧૪ નિરાશ થયેલા માણસ પર તેના મિત્રએ કરુણા રાખવી જોઈએ; રખેને તે સર્વશક્તિમાનનો ભય ત્યજી દે.

To a despiser of his friends [is] shame, And the fear of the Mighty he forsakes.

15 ૧૫ પણ મારા ભાઈઓ નાળાંની માફક ઠગાઈથી વર્ત્યા છે. એટલે લોપ થઈ જતાં ઝરણાં કે,

My brothers have deceived as a brook, As a stream of brooks they pass away.

16 ૧૬ જેઓ બરફના કારણે કાળાં દેખાય છે. અને જેઓમાં હિમ ઢંકાયેલું હોય છે.

That are black because of ice, By them snow hides itself.

17 ૧૭ તેઓ ગરમીમાં અદ્રશ્ય થઈ જાય છે; અને તાપ પડતાં તેઓ પોતાની જગ્યાએથી નાશ પામે છે.

By the time they are warm they have been cut off, By its being hot they have been Extinguished from their place.

18 ૧૮ તેઓની પાસે કાફલા જાય છે અને તેઓ અરણ્યમાં દાખલ થઈને નાશ પામે છે.

The paths turn aside of their way, They ascend into emptiness, and are lost.

19 ૧૯ તેમા ના કાફલા પાણીને ઝંખી રહ્યા હતા, શેબાના સંઘે તેઓની રાહ જોઈ.

Passengers of Tema looked expectingly, Travelers of Sheba hoped for them.

20 ૨૦ પણ આશા નિષ્ફળ જવાથી તેઓ લજ્જિત થયા. પરંતુ ત્યાં પહોંચ્યા ત્યારે તેઓ નિરાશ થયા હતા.

They were ashamed that one has trusted, They have come to it and are confounded.

21 ૨૧ કેમ કે હવે તમે એવા જ છો; મારી ભયંકર દશા જોઈને તમે બીહો છો.

Surely now you have become the same! You see a downfall, and are afraid.

22 ૨૨ શું મેં તમને કહ્યું કે, મને કંઈ આપો?’ અથવા તમારી દ્રવ્યમાંથી મારે સારુ ખર્ચ કરો?’

Is it because I said, Give to me? And, By your power bribe for me?

23 ૨૩ અથવા, ‘મને મારા શત્રુઓના હાથમાંથી ઉગારો?’ કે, ‘જુલમીના હાથમાંથી મને છોડાવો?’

And, Deliver me from the hand of an adversary? And, Ransom me from the hand of terrible ones?

24 ૨૪ મને સમજાવો એટલે હું ચૂપ રહીશ; અને મેં કરેલી ભૂલ મને બતાવો.

Show me, and I keep silent, And what I have erred, let me understand.

25 ૨૫ સત્ય વચન કેવાં અસરકારક હોય છે! પણ તમે જે ઠપકો આપો છો તે શાનો ઠપકો?

How powerful have been upright sayings, And what reproof from you reproves?

26 ૨૬ પણ હતાશ માણસનાં શબ્દો પવન જેવા હોય છે. તેમ છતાં કે તમે શબ્દોને કારણે ઠપકો આપવાનું ધારો છો?

For reproof—do you reckon words? And for wind—sayings of the desperate?

27 ૨૭ હા, તમે તો અનાથો પર ચિઠ્ઠીઓ નાખો છો, તથા તમારા મિત્રોનો વેપાર કરો એવા છો.

You cause anger to fall on the fatherless, And are strange to your friend.

28 ૨૮ તો હવે, કૃપા કરીને મારી સામે જુઓ, કેમ કે તમારી સમક્ષ તો હું જૂઠું બોલીશ નહિ.

And now, please, look on me, Even to your face do I lie?

29 ૨૯ તો હવે કૃપા કરીને પાછા ફરો; કંઈ અન્યાય થવો ન જોઈએ; હા, પાછા ફરો, મારી દલીલ વાજબી છે.

Please turn back, let it not be perverseness, Indeed, turn back again—my righteousness [is] in it.

30 ૩૦ શું મારી જીભમાં અન્યાય છે? શું હાનિકારક વસ્તુઓને પારખવાની શક્તિ મારામાં રહી નથી?”

Is there perverseness in my tongue? Does my palate not discern calamity?”
