અયૂબ 34

1 ૧ અલીહૂએ બોલવાનું ચાલુ રાખતાં કહ્યું કે:

And Elius continued, and said,

2 ૨ “હે શાણા માણસો, તમે મારા શબ્દો સાંભળો; અને હે જ્ઞાનીઓ, તમે મારી વાતો પર ધ્યાન આપો.”

Hear me, ye wise men; hearken, ye that have knowledge.

3 ૩ જેમ જીભ અન્નના સ્વાદને પારખી શકે છે તેમ કાન પણ શબ્દોને પારખી શકે છે.

For the ear tries words, and the mouth tastes meat.

4 ૪ આપણે પોતાને માટે શું સારું છે તે પસંદ કરીએ આપણે પોતાનામાં સારું શું છે તેની શોધ કરીએ.

Let us choose judgment to ourselves: let us know amount ourselves what is right.

5 ૫ કારણ કે અયૂબે કહ્યું છે કે, ‘હું ન્યાયી છું, અને ઈશ્વરે મારો હક લઈ લીધો છે.

For Job has said, I am righteous: the Lord has removed my judgment.

6 ૬ હું ન્યાયી છું છતાં હું જૂઠાબોલા તરીકે ગણાઉં છું. મારા જખમ જીવલેણ છે; છતાં પણ હું પાપ વિનાનો છું.’

And he has erred in my judgment: my wound is severe without unrighteousness [of mine].

7 ૭ અયૂબના જેવો માણસ કોણ છે, કે જે ધિક્કારને પાણીની જેમ સરળતાથી પીએ છે,

What man is as Job, drinking scorning like water?

8 ૮ તે દુષ્ટતા કરનારા લોકોની સંગતમાં રહે છે, અને તે દુષ્ટ લોકોની સાથે ફરે છે.

[saying], I have not sinned, nor committed ungodliness, nor had fellowship with workers of iniquity, to go with the ungodly.

9 ૯ તેણે કહ્યું છે કે, ‘ઈશ્વર જે ઇચ્છે છે તે કરવામાં માણસને કોઈ ફાયદો નથી.’”

For thou shouldest not say, There shall be no visitation of a man, whereas [there is] a visitation on him from the Lord.

10 ૧૦ તેથી હે શાણા માણસો, મારું સાંભળો: ઈશ્વર કદાપિ કંઈ ખોટું કરે જ નહિ; અને સર્વશક્તિમાન ઈશ્વર કદાપિ કંઈ અનિષ્ટ કરે જ નહિ.

Wherefore hear me, ye that are wise in heart: far be it from me to sin before the Lord, and to pervert righteousness before the almighty.

11 ૧૧ કારણ કે તે વ્યક્તિને તેના કામ પ્રમાણે બદલો આપે છે; તેઓ દરેક માણસને તેનો બદલો આપશે.

Yea, he renders to a man accordingly as each of them does, and in a man's path he will find him.

12 ૧૨ ખરેખર, ઈશ્વર દુષ્ટતા કરશે જ નહિ, અથવા સર્વશક્તિમાન ઈશ્વર કદાપિ અન્યાય કરે નહિ.

And thinkest thou that the Lord will do wrong, or will the Almighty who made the earth wrest judgment?

13 ૧૩ કોણે તેમને પૃથ્વીની જવાબદારી આપી છે? કોણે તેમને દરેક વસ્તુઓ પર સત્તા આપી છે?

And who is he that made [the whole world] under heaven, and all things therein?

14 ૧૪ જો તે માત્ર પોતાના જ ઇરાદા પાર પાડે જો ઈશ્વર પોતાનો આત્મા અને શ્વાસ પૃથ્વી પરથી લઈ લે,

For if he would confine, and restrain his spirit with himself;

15 ૧૫ તો સર્વ માણસો નાશ પામે; અને માણસ જાત ફરી પાછી ધૂળ ભેગી થઈ જાય.

all flesh would die together, and every mortal would return to the earth, whence also he was formed.

16 ૧૬ જો તમારામાં સમજશક્તિ હોય તો, મને સાંભળો; મારા શબ્દો ધ્યાનમાં રાખો.

Take heed lest he rebuke [thee]: hear this, hearken to the voice of words.

17 ૧૭ જે ન્યાયને ધિક્કારે, તે શું કદી રાજ કરી શકે? ઈશ્વર જે ન્યાયી અને પરાક્રમી છે, તેમને શું તું દોષિત ઠરાવીશ?

Behold then the one that hates iniquities, and that destroys the wicked, who is for ever just.

18 ૧૮ ઈશ્વર કદી રાજાને કહે છે કે, ‘તું નકામો છે,’ અથવા રાજકુમારોને કહે છે કે, ‘તમે દુષ્ટ છો?’

[He is] ungodly that says to a king, Thou art a transgressor, [that says] to princes, O most ungodly one.

19 ૧૯ ઈશ્વર અધિકારીઓ પર પક્ષપાત કરતા નથી અને ધનવાનોને ગરીબ લોકો કરતાં વધારે ગણતા નથી, કારણ કે તેઓ સર્વ તેમના હાથે સર્જાયેલા છે.

[Such a one] as would not reverence the face of an honourable man, neither knows how to give honour to the great, so as that their persons should be respected.

20 ૨૦ એક ક્ષણમાં તેઓ મૃત્યુ પામશે; મધરાતે લોકો ધ્રૂજશે અને નાશ પામશે; મહાન લોકો અદ્રશ્ય થઈ જાય છે, પણ માણસોના હાથથી નહિ.

But it shall turn out vanity to them, to cry and beseech a man; for they dealt unlawfully, the poor being turned aside [from their right].

21 ૨૧ કારણ કે, ઈશ્વરની નજર માણસની ચાલચલગત પર હોય છે; તે તેની સઘળી વર્તણૂક જુએ છે.

For he surveys the works of men, and nothing of what they do has escaped him.

22 ૨૨ દુષ્ટ માણસને સંતાડી શકે એવો કોઈ પડદો કે અંધકાર નથી.

Neither shall there be a place for the workers of iniquity to hide themselves.

23 ૨૩ કેમ કે ઈશ્વરને લોકોની પરીક્ષા કરવાની જરૂર નથી; કોઈ માણસને તેમના ન્યાયાસન સમક્ષ જવાની જરૂર નથી.

For he will not lay upon a man more [than right].

24 ૨૪ ઈશ્વર શક્તિશાળી લોકોને પણ ભાંગે છે કેમ કે તેઓના માર્ગો એવા છે કે તેને માટે વધારાની તપાસ કરવાની જરૂર નથી; તેઓ તેમને સ્થાને અન્યને નિયુકત કરે છે.

For the Lord looks down upon all men, who comprehends unsearchable things, glorious also and excellent things without number.

25 ૨૫ આ પ્રમાણે તેઓનાં કામોને પારખે છે; તેઓ રાતોરાત એવા પાયમાલ થાય છે કે તેઓ નાશ પામે છે.

Who discovers their works, and will bring night about [upon them], and they shall be brought low.

26 ૨૬ દુષ્ટ લોકો તરીકે તેઓને તેઓનાં દુષ્ટકૃત્યોને લીધે ખુલ્લી રીતે સજા કરે છે

And he quite destroys the ungodly, for they are seen before him.

27 ૨૭ કેમ કે તેઓ તેમને અનુસરવાને બદલે પાછા હઠી ગયા છે અને તેમના માર્ગને અનુસરવાનો ઇનકાર કરે છે.

Because they turned aside from the law of God, and did not regard his ordinances,

28 ૨૮ આ પ્રમાણે તેઓએ ગરીબોનો પોકાર ઈશ્વર સુધી પહોંચાડ્યો છે; તેમણે દુ: ખીઓનું રુદન સાંભળ્યું છે.

so as to bring before him the cry of the needy; for he will hear the cry of the poor.

29 ૨૯ જયારે તે શાંત રહે છે ત્યારે કોણ તેમને દોષિત ઠરાવી શકે છે? પણ જો તે પોતાનું મુખ સંતાડે તો કોણ તેમને જોઈ શકે? તે પ્રજા અને રાષ્ટ્ર પર સમાન રીતે રાજ કરે છે,

And he will give quiet, and who will condemn? and he will hide his face, and who shall see him? whether [it be done] against a nation, or against a man also:

30 ૩૦ કે જેથી અધર્મી માણસ સત્તા ચલાવે નહિ, એટલે લોકોને જાળમાં ફસાવનાર કોઈ હોય નહિ.

causing a hypocrite to be king, because of the waywardness of the people.

31 ૩૧ શું કોઈએ ઈશ્વરને એમ કહ્યું છે કે, ‘હું નિશ્ચે ગુનેગાર છું, પણ હવેથી હું પાપ કરીશ નહિ;

For [there is] one that says to the Mighty One, I have received [blessings]; I will not take a pledge:

32 ૩૨ હું જે સમજતો નથી તેનું મને શિક્ષણ આપ; મેં પાપ કર્યું છે પણ હવેથી હું પાપ કરીશ નહિ.’

I will see apart from myself: do thou shew me if I have done unrighteousness; I will not do [so] any more.

33 ૩૩ તું ઈશ્વરનો ઇનકાર કરે છે એટલે શું તને લાગે છે કે ઈશ્વર તે માણસનાં પાપને બદલે તેને સજા કરશે? એ નિર્ણય તારે લેવાનો છે, મારે નહિ. માટે જે કંઈ તું જાણે છે તે કહે.

Will he take vengeance for it on thee, whereas thou wilt put [it] far [from thee]? for thou shalt choose, and not I; and what thou knowest, speak thou.

34 ૩૪ ડાહ્યો માણસ મને કહેશે, ખરેખર, દરેક જ્ઞાની માણસ મને સાંભળે છે તે કહેશે,

Because the wise in heart shall say this, and a wise man listens to my word.

35 ૩૫ ‘અયૂબ જ્ઞાન વગર બોલે છે; તેના શબ્દો ડહાપણ વિનાના છે.’

But Job has not spoken with understanding, his words are not [uttered] with knowledge.

36 ૩૬ દુષ્ટ માણસ જેવો જવાબ આપવાને લીધે અયૂબની અંત સુધી કસોટી કરવામાં આવે તો કેવું સારું!

Howbeit do thou learn, Job: no longer make answer as the foolish:

37 ૩૭ “કેમ કે તે પોતાનાં પાપોમાં બળવાખોરીનો ઉમેરો કરે છે; તે આપણી મધ્યે અપમાન કરીને તાળીઓ પાડે છે; તે ઈશ્વરની વિરુદ્ધ લાંબી વાતો કરે છે.”

that we add not to our sins: for iniquity will be reckoned against us, if [we] speak many words before the Lord.
