અયૂબ 30

1 ૧ પરંતુ હવે જે મારા કરતાં ઉંમરમાં નાના છે જેઓના પિતાઓને હું મારા ટોળાંના કૂતરાઓની હરોળમાં પણ ન રાખું તેટલા નીચા ગણતો, તેઓ આજે મારી હાંસી કરે છે.

But now those who are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I disdained to set with the dogs of my flock.

2 ૨ હા, જે માણસોનું બળ નાશ પામ્યું છે તેઓના બાહુબળથી મને શો લાભ થાય?

Yea, the strength of their hands, to what should it profit me? Men in whom ripe age is perished.

3 ૩ દુકાળ તથા ભૂખથી તેઓ લેવાઈ ગયા છે; ઉજ્જડ તથા વેરાન જગ્યાના અંધકારમાં તેઓ અરણ્યની સૂકી ધૂળ ખાય છે.

They are gaunt with want and famine. They gnaw the dry ground in the gloom of waste and desolation.

4 ૪ તેઓ રણમાં ખારી ભાજી ચૂંટી કાઢે છે અને રોતેમ વૃક્ષનાં મૂળિયાં ખાય છે.

They pluck mallows by the bushes, and the roots of the juniper are their food.

5 ૫ તેઓને મનુષ્યોમાંથી હાંકી કાઢવામાં આવ્યા છે. ચોરની જેમ લોકો તેઓની પાછળ ચીસો પાડે છે.

They are driven forth from the midst of men. They cry out after them as after a thief,

6 ૬ તેઓ ખીણમાં, ખડકોમાં, ગુફાઓમાં, અને ખાડાઓમાં પડી રહે છે.

so that they dwell in frightful valleys, in holes of the earth and of the rocks.

7 ૭ તેઓ પશુની જેમ ઝાડીઓમાં બરાડા પાડે છે; તેઓ ઝાડ નીચે સમૂહમાં ભેગા થાય છે.

Among the bushes they bray, under the nettles they are gathered together.

8 ૮ તેઓ મૂર્ખોનાં સંતાનો હા, અધમ પુરુષોનાં સંતાનો છે. દેશમાંથી તેઓને કાઢી મૂકવામાં આવ્યા હતા.

They are sons of fools, yea, sons of base men. They were scourged out of the land.

9 ૯ હવે તે માણસો મારી મશ્કરી કરે છે. હું તેઓ મધ્યે કહેવતરૂપ બન્યો છું.

And now I have become their song, Yea, I am a byword to them.

10 ૧૦ તેઓ મારા પ્રત્યે ઘૃણા કરે છે અને મારી પાસે આવતા નથી. મારા મોં પર થૂંકતાં પણ તેઓ અચકાતા નથી.

They abhor me. They stand aloof from me, and do not spare to spit in my face.

11 ૧૧ કેમ કે ઈશ્વરે પોતાની દોરી છોડીને મને દુઃખી કર્યો છે. અને લોકોએ મારી સામું પોતાનો બધો અંકુશ ગુમાવ્યો છે.

For he has loosed his cord, and afflicted me. And they have cast off the bridle before me.

12 ૧૨ મારી જમણી બાજુએ હુલ્લડખોરો ઊઠે છે; તેઓ મને દૂર હાંકી કાઢે છે અને મારો નાશ કરવા તેઓ ઘેરો નાખે છે.

Upon my right hand rise the rabble. They thrust aside my feet, and they cast up against me their ways of destruction.

13 ૧૩ તેઓ રસ્તા તોડી નાખે છે જેથી હું ભાગી ન શકું. મારો નાશ કરવામાં તેઓ સફળ થયા છે. તેઓને કોઈની મદદની જરૂર નથી.

They mar my path. They set forward my calamity, even men who have no helper.

14 ૧૪ તેઓ દીવાલમાં બાકોરું પાડે છે. તેઓ તેની આરપાર ધસી જાય છે અને પથ્થરો મારી પર પડે છે.

As through a wide breach they come. In the midst of the ruin they roll themselves upon me.

15 ૧૫ મારા માથે વિનાશ આવી પડ્યો છે. તેઓ પવનની જેમ મારા સ્વમાનને ઘસડી લઈ જાય છે. મારી આબાદી વાદળોની જેમ લોપ ગઈ છે.

Terrors are turned upon me. They chase my honor as the wind, and my welfare is passed away as a cloud.

16 ૧૬ હવે મારું જીવન લગભગ ખતમ થઈ ગયું છે ઘણાં દુ: ખોના દિવસોએ મને ઘેરી લીધો છે.

And now my soul is poured out within me. Days of affliction have taken hold upon me.

17 ૧૭ રાત્રી દરમ્યાન મારાં હાડકાંઓને પીડા થાય છે, પીડા મને સતાવવાનું છોડતી નથી.

In the night season my bones are pierced in me, and the pains that gnaw me take no rest.

18 ૧૮ મારા અતિ મંદવાડને કારણે મારાં વસ્ત્રો વેરવિખેર થઈ ગયાં છે. મારા વસ્ત્રના ગળાની પટ્ટી માફક તેઓએ મને ટૂંપો દીધો છે.

By the great force my garment is disfigured. It binds me about as the collar of my coat.

19 ૧૯ ઈશ્વરે મને કાદવમાં ફેંકી દીધો છે. હવે હું ધૂળ તથા રાખ જેવો બની ગયો છું.

He has cast me into the mire, and I have become like dust and ashes.

20 ૨૦ ઓ ઈશ્વર હું કાલાવાલા કરું છું, પણ તમે મારું સાંભળતા નથી. હું તમારી સમક્ષ આવીને ઊભો છું પણ તમે મારી સામે નજર કરતા નથી.

I cry to thee, and thou do not answer me. I stand up, and thou gaze at me.

21 ૨૧ તમે મારા પ્રત્યે નિષ્ઠુર થઈ ગયા છો. તમે તમારી શક્તિનો ઉપયોગ મને ઈજા પહોંચાડવામાં કરો છો.

Thou have turned to be cruel to me. With the might of thy hand thou persecute me.

22 ૨૨ તમે મને વાયુમાં ઊંચો કરો છો તમે મને તેની પર સવારી કરાવો છો; તમે મને હવાના તોફાનમાં વાદળાની જેમ પિગળાવી નાખો છો.

Thou lift me up to the wind. Thou cause me to ride upon it, and thou disintegrate me in the storm.

23 ૨૩ હું જાણું છું કે તમે મને મૃત્યુમાં, એટલે સર્વ સજીવોને માટે નિશ્ચિત કરેલા ઘરમાં લઈ જશો.

For I know that thou will bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living.

24 ૨૪ મુશ્કેલીમાં આવી પડેલો માણસ હાથ લાંબો નહિ કરે? તેની પડતીમાં તે મદદને માટે કાલાવાલા નહિ કરે?

However does not a man stretch out the hand in his fall? Or in his calamity therefore cry for help?

25 ૨૫ શું દુ: ખી માનવીઓ માટે મેં આંસુ સાર્યાં નથી? કંગાલો માટે મારું હૃદય શું રડી ઊઠયું નથી?

Did I not weep for him who was in trouble? Was not my soul grieved for the needy?

26 ૨૬ મેં ભલાઈની આશા રાખી હતી પણ દુષ્ટતા આવી પડી મેં પ્રકાશની આશા રાખી હતી પણ અંધારું આવી પડ્યું.

When I looked for good, then evil came. And when I waited for light, there came darkness.

27 ૨૭ મારું અંતર ઊકળે છે. દુ: ખનો અંત આવતો નથી. મારા પર વિપત્તિના દિવસો આવી પડ્યા છે.

My heart is troubled, and does not rest. Days of affliction have come upon me.

28 ૨૮ હું સૂર્યના પ્રકાશ વિના શોક કરતો ફરું છું, હું જાહેર સભામાં ઊભો રહીને મદદ માટે બૂમો પાડું છું.

I go mourning without the sun. I stand up in the assembly, and cry for help.

29 ૨૯ હું શિયાળોનો ભાઈ અને શાહમૃગોનો સાથી થયો છું.

I am a brother to jackals, and a companion to ostriches.

30 ૩૦ મારી ચામડી કાળી પડી ગઈ છે અને મારા શરીર પરથી ખરી પડી છે. ગરમીથી મારાં હાડકાં બળી જાય છે.

My skin is black, and falls from me. And my bones are burned with heat.

31 ૩૧ તેથી મારી વીણામાંથી હવે વેદનાના સૂર નીકળે છે, મારી વાંસળીમાંથી હવે રુદનનો સ્વર સંભળાય છે.

Therefore my harp has turned to mourning, and my pipe into the voice of those who weep.
