અયૂબ 21

1 ૧ પછી અયૂબે જવાબ આપ્યો અને કહ્યું;

And Job answereth and saith: —

2 ૨ “હું જે કહું તે ધ્યાનથી સાંભળો, અને મને દિલાસો આપો.

Hear ye diligently my word, And this is your consolation.

3 ૩ મારા બોલી રહ્યા પછી ભલે તમે મારી હાંસી ઉડાવજો; પણ હું બોલું છું ત્યાં સુધી ધીરજ રાખજો.

Bear with me, and I speak, And after my speaking — ye may deride.

4 ૪ શું મારી ફરિયાદ માણસ સામે છે? હું શા માટે અધીરો ના થાઉં?

I — to man [is] my complaint? and if [so], wherefore May not my temper become short?

5 ૫ મારી સામે જોઈને આશ્ચર્ય પામો, અને તમારો હાથ તમારા મુખ પર મૂકો.

Turn unto me, and be astonished, And put hand to mouth.

6 ૬ હું યાદ કરું છું ત્યારે ગભરાઈ જાઉં છું, હું ભયથી ધ્રૂજી ઊઠું છું.

Yea, if I have remembered, then I have been troubled. And my flesh hath taken fright.

7 ૭ શા માટે દુર્જનો લાંબુ જીવે છે? શા માટે તેઓ વૃદ્ધ થાય છે અને સફળ રહે છે?

Wherefore do the wicked live? They have become old, Yea, they have been mighty in wealth.

8 ૮ દુર્જનો તેઓનાં સંતાનોને મોટાં થતાં જુએ છે. દુર્જનો પોતાનાં પૌત્ર-પૌત્રીઓને જોવા માટે જીવે છે.

Their seed is established, Before their face with them, And their offspring before their eyes.

9 ૯ તેઓનાં ઘર ભય વગર સુરક્ષિત હોય છે; અને ઈશ્વરની સોટી તેઓ પર પડતી નથી.

Their houses [are] peace without fear, Nor [is] a rod of God upon them.

10 ૧૦ તેઓનો સાંઢ ગાયો સાથેના સંવનનમાં નિષ્ફળ થતો નથી; તેઓની ગાયો જન્મ આપે છે, મૃત વાછરડાઓ જન્મતા નથી.

His bullock hath eaten corn, and doth not loath. His cow bringeth forth safely, And doth not miscarry.

11 ૧૧ તેઓ પોતાનાં સંતાનોને ઘેટાંનાં બચ્ચાંઓની જેમ બહાર રમવા મોકલે છે. તેઓનાં સંતાનો નાચે છે.

They send forth as a flock their sucklings, And their children skip,

12 ૧૨ તેઓ ખંજરી તથા વીણા સાથે ગાય છે, અને વાંસળીના અવાજથી આનંદ પામે છે.

They lift [themselves] up at timbrel and harp, And rejoice at the sound of an organ.

13 ૧૩ તેઓ પોતાના દિવસો સમૃદ્ધિમાં વિતાવે છે, અને એક પળમાં તેઓ શેઓલમાં ઊતરી જાય છે. (Sheol h7585)

They wear out in good their days, And in a moment [to] Sheol go down. (Sheol h7585)

14 ૧૪ તેઓ ઈશ્વરને કહે છે, ‘અમારાથી દૂર જાઓ કેમ કે અમે તમારા માર્ગોનું ડહાપણ મેળવવા ઇચ્છતા નથી.

And they say to God, 'Turn aside from us, And the knowledge of Thy ways We have not desired.

15 ૧૫ તેઓ કહે છે, સર્વશક્તિમાન ઈશ્વર કોણ છે કે, અમે તેમની સેવા કરીએ? તેમને પ્રાર્થના કરવાથી અમને શો લાભ થાય?

What [is] the Mighty One that we serve Him? And what do we profit when we meet with Him?'

16 ૧૬ જુઓ, તેઓની સમૃદ્ધિ તેઓના પોતાના હાથમાં નથી? દુષ્ટોની સલાહ મારાથી દૂર છે.

Lo, not in their hand [is] their good, (The counsel of the wicked Hath been far from me.)

17 ૧૭ દુષ્ટ લોકોનો દીવો કેટલીવાર ઓલવી નાખવામાં આવે છે? અને કેટલીવાર વિપત્તિ તેઓ પર આવી પડે છે? ઈશ્વર તેમના કોપથી કેટલીવાર તેમના ઉપર દુઃખો મોકલે છે?

How oft is the lamp of the wicked extinguished, And come on them doth their calamity? Pangs He apportioneth in His anger.

18 ૧૮ તેઓ કેટલીવાર હવામાં ઊડી જતા ખૂંપરા જેવા વંટોળિયામાં ઊડતાં ફોતરા જેવા હોય છે?

They are as straw before wind, And as chaff a hurricane hath stolen away,

19 ૧૯ તમે કહો છો કે, ‘ઈશ્વર તેઓના પાપની સજા તેઓનાં સંતાનોને કરે છે;’ તેમણે તેનો બદલો તેને જ આપવો જોઈએ કે, તેને જ ખબર પડે.

God layeth up for his sons his sorrow, He giveth recompense unto him — and he knoweth.

20 ૨૦ તેની પોતાની જ આંખો તેનો પોતાનો નાશ જુએ, અને સર્વશક્તિમાન ઈશ્વરના કોપનો પ્યાલો તેને જ પીવા દો.

His own eyes see his destruction, And of the wrath of the Mighty he drinketh.

21 ૨૧ તેના મૃત્યુ પછી એટલે તેના આયુષ્યની મર્યાદા અધવચથી કપાઈ ગયા પછી, તે કુટુંબમાં શો આનંદ રહે છે?

For what [is] his delight in his house after him, And the number of his months cut off?

22 ૨૨ શું કોઈ ઈશ્વરને ડહાપણ શીખવી શકે? ઈશ્વર મહાન પુરુષોનો પણ ન્યાય કરે છે.

To God doth [one] teach knowledge, And He the high doth judge?

23 ૨૩ માણસ પૂરજોરમાં, તથા પૂરા સુખચેનમાં હોય ત્યારે મૃત્યુ પામે છે.

This [one] dieth in his perfect strength, Wholly at ease and quiet.

24 ૨૪ તેનું શરીર દૂધથી ભરપૂર હોય છે. અને તેનાં હાડકાં મજબૂત હોય ત્યારે તે મૃત્યુ પામે છે.

His breasts have been full of milk, And marrow his bones doth moisten.

25 ૨૫ પરંતુ બીજો તો પોતાના જીવનમાં કષ્ટ ભોગવતો મૃત્યુ પામે છે, અને કદી સુખનો અનુભવ કરતો નથી.

And this [one] dieth with a bitter soul, And have not eaten with gladness.

26 ૨૬ તેઓ સરખી રીતે ધૂળમાં સૂઈ જાય છે. અને કીડાઓ તેઓને ઢાંકી દે છે.

Together — on the dust they lie down, And the worm doth cover them over.

27 ૨૭ જુઓ, હું તમારા વિચારો જાણું છું અને હું જાણું છું તમે મારું ખોટું કરવા માગો છો.

Lo, I have known your thoughts, And the devices against me ye do wrongfully.

28 ૨૮ માટે તમે કહો છો, હવે રાજકુમારનું ઘર ક્યાં છે? દુષ્ટ માણસ રહે છે તે તંબુ ક્યાં છે?’

For ye say, 'Where [is] the house of the noble? And where the tent — The tabernacles of the wicked?'

29 ૨૯ શું તમે કદી રસ્તે જનારાઓને પૂછ્યું? તમે તેઓના અનુભવની વાતો જાણતા નથી કે,

Have ye not asked those passing by the way? And their signs do ye not know?

30 ૩૦ ભૂંડો માણસ સંકટના સમયે બચી જાય છે, અને તેઓને કોપને દિવસે બચાવવામાં આવે છે?

That to a day of calamity is the wicked spared. To a day of wrath they are brought.

31 ૩૧ તેનો માર્ગ દુષ્ટ માણસને મોં પર કોણ કહી બતાવશે? તેણે જે કર્યું છે તેનો બદલો તેને કોણ આપશે?

Who doth declare to his face his way? And [for] that which he hath done, Who doth give recompence to him?

32 ૩૨ તોપણ તેને કબર આગળ ઊંચકી જવામાં આવશે, અને તેની કબર પર પહેરો મૂકવામાં આવશે.

And he — to the graves he is brought. And over the heap a watch is kept.

33 ૩૩ ખીણની માટીનાં ઢેફાં પણ તેને મીઠાં લાગશે, જેમ તેની અગાઉ અગણિત માણસો લઈ જવામાં આવ્યા હતા, તેમ સઘળાં માણસો તેની પાછળ જશે.

Sweet to him have been the clods of the valley, And after him every man he draweth, And before him there is no numbering.

34 ૩૪ તમે શા માટે મને નકામું આશ્વાસન આપો છો? કેમ કે તમારા ઉત્તરો જોતાં તો તેમાં જુઠાણું જ રહેલું છે.”

And how do ye comfort me [with] vanity, And in your answers hath been left trespass?
