અયૂબ 13

1 ૧ જુઓ, મારી આંખોએ તે સર્વ જોયું છે; મારા કાનેથી એ સાંભળ્યું છે અને હું સમજ્યો છું.

Lo! all this mine eye hath seen; Mine ear hath heard and understood it.

2 ૨ તમે જે બધું જાણો છો તે હું પણ જાણું છું; તમારાથી હું કંઈ કાચો નથી.

What ye know, I know also; I am not inferior to you.

3 ૩ નિશ્ચે, સર્વશક્તિમાનની સાથે વાત કરવા હું ઇચ્છું છું, હું ઈશ્વરની સાથે વાદ કરવા માગું છું.

But O that I might speak with the Almighty! O that I might reason with God!

4 ૪ પણ તમે સત્યને જૂઠાણાથી છુપાવવાની કોશિશ કરો છો; તમે બધા ઊંટવૈદ જેવા છો.

For ye are forgers of lies; Physicians of no value, all of you!

5 ૫ તમે તદ્દન મૂંગા રહ્યા હોત તો સારું હતું! કેમ કે એમાં તમારું ડહાપણ જણાત.

O that ye would altogether hold your peace! This, truly, would be wisdom in you.

6 ૬ હવે મારી દલીલો સાંભળો; મારા મુખની અરજ પર ધ્યાન આપો.

Hear, I pray you, my arguments; Attend to the pleadings of my lips!

7 ૭ શું તમે ઈશ્વરનો પક્ષ રાખી અન્યાયથી બોલશો, અને તેમના પક્ષના થઈને ઠગાઈયુક્ત વાત કરશો?

Will ye speak falsehood for God? Will ye utter deceit for him?

8 ૮ શું તમે તેમની સાથેના સંબંધમાં રહેશો? શું તમે ઈશ્વરના પક્ષમાં બોલશો?

Will ye be partial to his person? Will ye contend earnestly for God?

9 ૯ તે તમારી ઝડતી લે તો સારું, અથવા જેમ મનુષ્ય એકબીજાને છેતરે તેમ શું તમે તેમને છેતરશો?

Will it be well for you, if he search you thoroughly? Can ye deceive him, as one may deceive a man?

10 ૧૦ તમે જો ગુપ્ત રીતે કોઈ વ્યકિતનો પક્ષ રાખો, તો ઈશ્વર તમને ઠપકો આપશે.

Surely he will rebuke you, If ye secretly have respect to persons.

11 ૧૧ શું ઈશ્વરની મહાનતા તમને નહિ ડરાવે? અને તેમનો ભય તમારા પર નહિ આવે?

Doth not his majesty make you afraid, And his dread fall upon you?

12 ૧૨ તમારી સ્મરણીય વાતો રાખ જેવી છે; અને તમારી બધી દલીલો માટીના કિલ્લાઓ સમાન છે.

Your maxims are words of dust; Your fortresses are fortresses of clay.

13 ૧૩ છાના રહો, મને નિરાંતે બોલવા દો, મારા પર જે થવાનું હોય તે થવા દો.

Hold your peace, and let me speak: And then come upon me what will!

14 ૧૪ મારું પોતાનું માંસ મારા દાંતમાં લઈશ. હું મારો જીવ મારા હાથોમાં લઈશ.

Why do I take my flesh in my teeth, And put my life in my hand?

15 ૧૫ જુઓ, ભલે તે મને મારી નાખે, તોપણ હું તેમની રાહ જોઈશ; તેમ છતાં હું તેમની સમક્ષ મારો બચાવ જરૂર રજૂ કરીશ.

Lo! he slayeth me, and I have no hope! Yet will I justify my ways before him.

16 ૧૬ ફક્ત એ જ મારું તારણ થઈ પડશે. કેમ કે દુષ્ટ માણસથી તેમની આગળ ઊભા રહી શકાય નહિ.

This also shall be my deliverance; For no unrighteous man will come before him.

17 ૧૭ મારી વાત તમે ધ્યાનથી સાંભળો. મારા બોલવા પર કાન દો.

Hear attentively my words, And give ear to my declaration!

18 ૧૮ હવે જુઓ, મારી દલીલો મેં નિયમસર ગોઠવી છે. અને હું જાણું છું કે હું નિર્દોષ છું.

Behold, I have now set in order my cause; I know that I am innocent.

19 ૧૯ મને કોણ ખોટો ઠરાવી શકે એમ છે? જો કોઈ પણ હોય તો હું ચૂપ રહીશ અને મારો પ્રાણ છોડીશ.

Who is he that can contend with me? For then would I hold my peace, and die!

20 ૨૦ હે ઈશ્વર, માત્ર બે બાબતોથી તમે મને મુકત કરો, અને પછી હું તમારાથી મારું મુખ સંતાડીશ નહિ;

Only do not unto me two things, Then will I not hide myself from thy presence;

21 ૨૧ તમારો હાથ મારા પરથી ખેંચી લો, અને તમારા ભયથી મને ન ગભરાવો.

Let not thy hand be heavy upon me, And let not thy terrors make me afraid:

22 ૨૨ પછી તમે મને બોલાવો કે, હું તમને ઉત્તર આપું; અથવા મને બોલવા દો અને તમે ઉત્તર આપો.

Then call upon me, and I will answer; Or I will speak, and answer thou me.

23 ૨૩ મારાં પાપો અને અન્યાયો કેટલા છે? મારા અપરાધો અને મારું પાપ મને જણાવો.

How many are my iniquities and sins? Make me to know my faults and transgressions.

24 ૨૪ શા માટે તમે મારાથી તમારું મુખ ફેરવી લો છો? શા માટે તમે મને તમારો દુશ્મન ગણો છો?

Wherefore dost thou hide thy face, And account me as thine enemy?

25 ૨૫ શું તમે પવનથી ખરી પડેલા પાંદડાને હેરાન કરશો? શું તમે સૂકા તણખલાનો પીછો કરશો?

Wilt thou put in fear the driven leaf? Wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?

26 ૨૬ તમે મારી વિરુદ્ધ સખત ઝેરી શબ્દો લખો છો; અને મારી યુવાવસ્થાના અન્યાયનો મને બદલો આપો છો.

For thou writest bitter things against me, And makest me inherit the sins of my youth.

27 ૨૭ તમે મારા પગમાં બેડીઓ બાંધો છો; તમે મારા બધા રસ્તાઓ ધ્યાનમાં રાખો છો, તમે મારાં પગલાં તપાસો છો;

Yea, thou puttest my feet in the stocks, And waterest all my paths; Thou hemmest in the soles of my feet.

28 ૨૮ જો કે હું નાશ પામતી સડી ગયેલ વસ્તુના જેવો છું, તથા ઉધાઈએ ખાઈ નાખેલા વસ્ત્ર જેવો છું.

And I, like an abandoned thing, shall waste away; Like a garment which is moth-eaten.
