ચર્મિયા 6
1 ૧ “હે બિન્યામીનના લોકો, યરુશાલેમમાંથી જીવ બચાવવા નાસી જાઓ, તકોઆમાં રણશિંગડું વગાડો. અને બેથ-હાકકેરેમ પર અગ્નિ સળગાવીને ચેતવણી આપો. કેમ કે ઉત્તર તરફથી વિપત્તિ તથા મહાવિનાશ આવે છે.
Find safety, people of Benjamin, by leaving Jerusalem. Blow a trumpet in Tekoa. Raise up over Beth Hakkerem a signal, since wickedness is appearing from the north; a great crushing is coming.
The daughter of Zion, the beautiful and delicate woman, will be destroyed.
3 ૩ ઘેટાંપાળકો અને તેઓનાં ટોળાં તેઓની પાસે જશે; તેઓ તેની ફરતે તંબુઓ નાખશે. દરેક જણ પોતાની જગ્યાએ ચરશે.
The shepherds and their flocks will go to them; they will set up tents against her all around; each man will shepherd with his own hand.
4 ૪ યહોવાહના નામે તેની સામે ચઢાઈ કર. ઊઠ, આપણે મધ્યાહને તેના પર હુમલો કરીએ. આપણને અફસોસ! સૂર્યાસ્ત થવા લાગ્યો છે. સંધ્યાની છાયા લંબાતી જાય છે.
“Dedicate yourselves to the gods for the battle. Arise, let us attack at noon. It is too bad that the daylight is fading away, that the evening shadows are falling.
But let us attack at night and destroy her fortresses.”
6 ૬ સૈન્યોના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ આ પ્રમાણે કહે છે; તેનાં વૃક્ષો કાપી નાખો અને યરુશાલેમ વિરુદ્ધ મોરચા ઊભા કરો. આ નગર તો દંડને પાત્ર છે કેમ કે એમાં જુલમ સિવાય બીજું કશું નથી.
For Yahweh of hosts says this: Cut her trees, and heap up siegeworks against Jerusalem. This is the right city to attack, because it is filled with oppression.
7 ૭ જેમ ઝરો પાણીથી ઊભરાય છે તેમ એ દુષ્ટતાથી ઊભરાય છે. નગરમાં મારઝૂડ અને લૂંટફાટનો અવાજ સંભળાય છે, વેદના તથા જખમ મારી આગળ નિત્ય થાય છે.
As a well pours out fresh water, so this city keeps producing wickedness. Violence and disorder are heard within her; sickness and wounds are continually before my face.
8 ૮ માટે હે યરુશાલેમ આ ચેતવણી પર તું ધ્યાન આપ, રખેને હું તારો ત્યાગ કરીને તને ઉજ્જડ તથા વેરાન પ્રદેશ બનાવી મૂકું.
Accept discipline, Jerusalem, or I will turn away from you and make you into a ruin, an uninhabited land.'”
9 ૯ સૈન્યોના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ કહે છે; ઇઝરાયલમાં જે થોડા બાકી રહેલા હશે તેઓને દ્રાક્ષની પેઠે વીણીને લઈ જવામાં આવશે. દ્રાક્ષા તોડનારની પેઠે તું તારો હાથ ફરી ડાળખી પર ફેરવ.
Yahweh of hosts says this, “They will certainly glean those who are left in Israel like a vineyard. Reach out again with your hand to pick grapes from the vines.
10 ૧૦ કોને કહું અને કોને ચેતવણી આપું કે તેઓ સાંભળે? તેઓના કાન બેસુન્નત છે; કે તેઓ સાંભળી શકતા નથી. ધ્યાન આપો!” જુઓ, યહોવાહનું વચન તેમની પાસે તેઓને સુધારવા માટે આવ્યું પણ તેઓએ તેને સ્વીકાર્યું નહિ.
To whom should I declare and warn so they will listen? Look! Their ears are uncircumcised; they are not able to pay attention! Look! The word of Yahweh has come to them to correct them, but they do not want it.”
11 ૧૧ પણ હું યહોવાહના રોષથી ભરપૂર છું, હું તેને અંદર દબાવી શકતો નથી. મહોલ્લાના લોકો પર અને ટોળે વળતા યુવાનો પર તેનો ઊભરો કાઢ. કેમ કે પુરુષ તથા સ્ત્રી અને ઘરડાઓ સુદ્ધાં બધા જ પકડાઈ જશે.
But I am filled with Yahweh's fury. I am tired of holding it in. He said, to me, “Pour it out on the children in the streets and on the groups of young men. For every man will be taken away with his wife; and every old person heavy with years.
12 ૧૨ તેઓનાં ઘરો અને તેઓનાં ખેતરો તથા પત્નીઓ બીજાઓને સોંપવામાં આવશે. કેમ કે હું આ દેશના લોકોને શિક્ષા કરીશ. એમ યહોવાહ કહે છે.
Their houses will be turned over to others, both their fields and their wives together. For I will attack the inhabitants of the land with my hand—this is Yahweh's declaration.
13 ૧૩ કેમ કે તેઓ બધા નાનાથી માંડીને છેક મોટા સુધી સર્વ લોભી છે. અને પ્રબોધકોથી યાજકો સુધી સર્વ જુઠાણું ચલાવે છે.
Yahweh declares that from the least to the greatest, all of them are greedy for dishonest gain. From the prophet to the priest, all of them practice deceit.
14 ૧૪ કંઈ શાંતિ ન હોવા છતાં શાંતિ એમ કહીને તેઓ મારા લોકોના ઘાને ‘શાંતિ! શાંતિ!’ છે એમ કહીને ઉપર છલ્લા રુઝાવે છે.
They have healed the wounds of my people lightly, saying, 'Peace, Peace,' when there is no peace.
15 ૧૫ તેઓએ ધિક્કારપાત્ર કૃત્ય કર્યું હતું માટે શું તેઓ શરમિંદા થયા? તેઓ બિલકુલ શરમિંદા થયા નહિ; વળી શું થયું છે તે તેઓ સમજ્યા નહિ. તેથી તેઓ પડનારા ભેગા પડશે. હું જ્યારે તેમને સજા કરીશ ત્યારે તેઓ ઠોકર ખાઈને પડી જશે,” એમ યહોવાહ કહે છે.
Were they ashamed when they practiced abominations? They were not ashamed; they did not know how to blush! So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when they are punished, says Yahweh.
16 ૧૬ યહોવાહ કહે છે; માર્ગોમાં ઊભા રહીને જુઓ; ભૂતકાળના માર્ગો વિષે પૂછો. ‘આવો ઉત્તમ માર્ગ ક્યાં છે?’ તેની શોધ કરીને તે માર્ગે ચાલો. એટલે તમારા આત્માને શાંતિ મળશે. પણ લોકો કહે છે, “અમે તે માર્ગે ચાલીશું નહિ.”
Yahweh says this, “Stand at the road crossing and look; ask for the ancient pathways. 'Where is this good way?' Then go on it and find a resting place for yourselves. But the people say, 'We will not go.'
17 ૧૭ મેં તમારા પર ચોકીદારો નીમ્યા અને કહ્યું કે, રણશિંગડાનો અવાજ સાંભળો. પરંતુ તમે કહ્યું, “અમે તે તરફ ધ્યાન આપીશું નહિ.”
I appointed for you watchmen to listen for the trumpet. But they said, 'We will not listen.'
Therefore, nations, listen! See, you witnesses, what will happen to them.
19 ૧૯ હે પૃથ્વીના લોકો, સાંભળો જુઓ, આ લોકો પર હું વિપત્તિ એટલે એમના કાવાદાવાનું ફળ લાવીશ. તેઓએ મારાં વચનોનો સ્વીકાર કર્યો નથી. તેઓએ મારાં નિયમશાસ્ત્રનો ત્યાગ કર્યો છે.
Hear, earth! See, I am about to bring disaster to this people—the fruit of their thoughts. They paid no attention to my word or law, but they instead rejected it.”
20 ૨૦ શેબાથી લોબાન તથા દૂર દેશથી અગરુ મારી પાસે શા માટે લાવો છો? હું તમારા દહનીયાર્પણને માન્ય કરીશ નહિ. અને તમારાં બલિદાનોથી હું પ્રસન્ન થતો નથી.
“What does this frankincense going up from Sheba mean to me? Or these sweet smells from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable to me, nor are your sacrifices.
21 ૨૧ તેથી યહોવાહ આ પ્રમાણે કહે છે; તેથી હું મારા એ લોકોને ઠોકર ખવડાવીશ અને તેઓ પિતા અને પુત્ર બન્ને તેનાથી ઠોકર ખાઈને પડી જશે પડોશી અને તેના મિત્રો બધા જ નાશ પામશે.
So Yahweh says this, 'See, I am about to place a stumbling block against this people. They will stumble over it—fathers and sons together. Inhabitants and their neighbors will also perish.'
22 ૨૨ યહોવાહ આ પ્રમાણે કહે છે; જુઓ, ઉત્તરમાંથી એક પ્રજા આવી રહી છે અને પૃથ્વીના છેક છેડેથી એક બળવાન પ્રજા ચઢી આવશે.
Yahweh says this, 'See, a people is coming from the land of the north, a great nation is being stirred up from the farthest parts of the earth.
23 ૨૩ તેઓ ધનુષ્ય તથા ભાલા ધારણ કરે છે. તેઓ ક્રૂર અને નિર્દય છે, તેઓનો અવાજ સમુદ્રની ગર્જના જેવો છે. તેઓ ઘોડાઓ પર સવારી કરે છે. હે સિયોનની દીકરી જેમ શૂરવીર લડાઈને માટે સજ્જ થાય છે તેમ તેઓ તારી વિરુદ્ધ લડાઈ કરવા તૈયાર છે.
They will pick up bows and spears. They are cruel and have no compassion. Their sound is like the sea roar, and they are riding on horses, set out in order as men for battle, against you, daughter of Zion.'”
24 ૨૪ અમે તે વિશેના સમાચાર સાંભળ્યા છે. અમારાં ગાત્રો શિથિલ થઈ ગયાં છે. અમને જાણે પ્રસૂતિની જેવી પીડા થાય છે.
We have heard the reports about them and our hands fall limp in distress. Anguish seizes us as a woman giving birth.
Do not go out to the fields, and do not walk on the roads, for the swords of the enemy and terror are all around.
26 ૨૬ હે મારા લોકની દીકરી શોકનાં વસ્ત્રો ધારણ કરી રાખમાં બેસ. જેમ કોઈ પોતાના એકના એક દીકરાને માટે શોક તથા આક્રંદ કરે તેમ તું કર. કેમ કે આપણા પર લૂંટારા એકાએક ચઢી આવશે.
Daughter of my people, put on sackcloth and roll in ashes; mourn with painful sobs as for an only son, for the destroyer will suddenly come upon us.
27 ૨૭ મેં તને મારા લોકમાં પારખનાર તથા કોટરૂપ કર્યો છે જેથી તું તેઓના માર્ગ જાણે અને તેનું મૂલ્યાંકન કરે.
“I have made you, Jeremiah, one who tests my people like one would test metal, so you will inspect and test their ways.
28 ૨૮ એ બધા અધમ બંડખોરો છે અને તેઓ ચાડી કરતા ફરે છે. તેઓ પિત્તળ જેવા અને લોખંડ જેવા છે. તેઓ સર્વ દુષ્ટ છે.
They are all the most stubborn of people, who go about slandering others. All of them are bronze and iron, acting corruptly.
29 ૨૯ ધમણ ચાલે છે અને વેગથી હવા ફૂંકે છે; સીસું અગ્નિથી બળી ગયું છે. શુદ્ધ કરનાર પીગાળવાને વ્યર્થ મહેનત કરે છે. કેમ કે દુષ્ટોને કાઢવામાં આવ્યા નથી.
The bellows are scorched by the fire that is burning them; the lead is consumed in the flames. The refining continues among them, but it is useless, because the evil is not removed.
They will be called rejected silver, for Yahweh has rejected them.”
