ચર્મિયા 15
1 ૧ પછી યહોવાહે મને કહ્યું કે, “જો મૂસા તથા શમુએલ મારી સમક્ષ ઊભા રહે, તોપણ હું આ લોકો પર દયા કરવાનો નથી. તેઓને મારી નજર સમક્ષથી દૂર લઈ જા, તેઓ દૂર જતા રહે.
And the Lord said unto me, If Moses and Samuel were to stand before me, my favor would [still] not be toward this people: send them away out of my sight, that they may go forth.
2 ૨ અને જયારે તેઓ તને એમ કહે કે, અમે ક્યાં જઈએ? ત્યારે તું તેઓને કહેજે કે, યહોવાહ આ પ્રમાણે કહે છે; જેઓ મરણને માટે નિર્માણ થયેલા છે તેઓ મરણ તરફ; જેઓ તલવારને માટે નિર્માણ થયેલા છે તેઓ તલવાર તરફ; જેઓ દુકાળને માટે તેઓ દુકાળ તરફ; અને જેઓ બંદીવાસમાં જવા નિર્માણ થયેલા છે તેઓએ બંદીવાસમાં જવું.’”
And it shall come to pass, if they should say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth, that thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath said the Lord, Such as are destined to death, to death; and such as are destined to the sword, to the sword; and such as are destined to famine, to famine; and such as are destined to captivity, to captivity.
3 ૩ યહોવાહ કહે છે, હું આ લોકોને માટે ચાર પ્રકારની વિપત્તિ લાવીશ. એટલે મારી નાખવા માટે તલવાર, ઘસડી લઈ જવા સારુ કૂતરાઓ, ખાઈ જવા અને નાશ કરવા સારુ આકાશના પક્ષીઓ તથા પૃથ્વી પરનાં જંગલી પશુઓ.
And I will appoint over them four species, saith the Lord: The sword to slay, and the dogs to drag away, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and to destroy.
4 ૪ વળી યહૂદિયાના રાજા હિઝકિયાના દીકરા, મનાશ્શાને લીધે એટલે યરુશાલેમમાં તેણે કરેલાં દુષ્ટ કાર્યોને લીધે, હું તેઓને પૃથ્વીના સર્વ રાજ્યોમાં આમતેમ રખડાવીશ.
And I will cause them to become a horror unto all the kingdoms of the earth, on account of Menasseh the son of Hezekiah the king of Judah, because of what he did in Jerusalem.
For who will have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who will condole with thee? or who will go aside to ask after thy welfare?
6 ૬ યહોવાહ કહે છે, તમે મારો ત્યાગ કર્યો છે અને મારા તરફથી પાછા હઠી ગયા છો. તેથી તમારી વિરુદ્ધ મારો હાથ ઉઠાવીને હું તમારો વિનાશ કરીશ. હું પશ્ચાતાપ કરતાં થાકી ગયો છું.
Thou hast indeed forsaken me, saith the Lord, thou art gone backward; therefore do I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee: I am weary with repenting.
7 ૭ દેશની ભાગોળોમાં મેં તેઓને સૂપડાથી ઝાટક્યાં છે; મેં મારા લોકોને નિ: સંતાન તથા નષ્ટ કર્યા છે; જો તેઓ પોતાના દુષ્ટ માર્ગોમાંથી પાછા ફરશે નહિ તો હું તેમનો નાશ કરીશ.
And I winnow them with a fan in the gates of the land: I make childless, I annihilate my people, [since] from their ways they have not turned away.
8 ૮ હું તેઓની વિધવાઓની સંખ્યા સમુદ્રની રેતી જેટલી કરીશ. લૂંટારાઓને હું જુવાનોની માતાઓ પર લાવ્યો છું. મેં તેઓના પર એકાએક દુ: ખ અને ભય આણ્યાં છે.
Their widows are more numerous before me than the sand of the seas: I bring unto them, over the mothers of the young men, a waster at noonday; I cause to fall upon her suddenly the enemy with [his] terrors.
9 ૯ જેણે સાત દીકરાઓને જન્મ આપ્યો હતો તે ઝૂરે છે, તેણે પ્રાણ છોડ્યો છે. દિવસ છતાં તેનો સૂર્ય અસ્ત પામ્યો છે. તે લજ્જિત તથા વ્યાકુળ થઈ છે. તેઓના શત્રુઓ આગળ જેઓ હજુ જીવતા હશે તેઓને તલવારને સ્વાધીન કરીશ. એમ યહોવાહ કહે છે.
She that had born seven children fadeth away; she breatheth out her soul, her sun is set while it is yet day; she is made ashamed and put to the blush: —and their residue will I give up to the sword before their enemies, saith the Lord.
10 ૧૦ હે મારી મા, મને અફસોસ! તેં મને આખા જગત સાથે ઝગડો તથા તકરાર કરનાર પુરુષ થવાને જન્મ આપ્યો છે. મેં વ્યાજે ધીર્યું નથી કે તેઓએ મને વ્યાજે આપ્યું નથી, તેમ છતાં તેઓ બધાં મને શાપ આપે છે.
Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast born me, a man of contention and a man of strife to the whole land! I have not lent, nor have men lent to me: [yet] every one of them curseth me.
11 ૧૧ યહોવાહે કહ્યું; શું હું તારા હિતને અર્થે તને સામર્થ્ય નહિ આપું? નિશ્ચે વિપત્તિના સમયે તથા સંકટ સમયે હું વૈરીઓ પાસે તારી આગળ વિનંતી કરાવીશ.
The Lord said, Truly I will release thee for [thy] good; truly I will cause the enemy to meet thee in the time of distress and in the time of affliction.
Can iron break in pieces the northern iron and copper?
13 ૧૩ હું તારું સર્વ દ્રવ્ય અને ખજાનાઓને લૂંટાવી દઈશ. તારી સર્વ સીમામાં કરેલા તારા પાપને લીધે આ તારી શિક્ષા હશે.
Thy wealth and thy treasures will I give up as spoil without price, and this for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.
14 ૧૪ હું તમને અજાણ્યા દેશમાં તમારા શત્રુઓની સેવા કરાવીશ. કેમ કે મારો ક્રોધરૂપી અગ્નિ ભભૂકી ઊઠયો છે. અને તે તમારા પર બળશે.
And I will cause them to pass over with thy enemies into a land which thou knowest not; for a fire is kindled in my anger, over you shall it burn.
15 ૧૫ હે યહોવાહ, તમે મારું બધું જાણો છો! મને યાદ કરો અને મને મદદ કરો. મને સતાવનારા પર મારા બદલે વેર લો. તમારી ધીરજ ખાતર મને દૂર કરશો નહિ. યાદ રાખો કે, તમારે લીધે મેં નિંદા સહન કરી છે.
Thou well knowest it, O Lord! remember me and think of me, and avenge me on my persecutors; not according to thy long-suffering act thou for me: know, that for thy sake I have borne shame.
16 ૧૬ તમારાં વચનો મને પ્રાપ્ત થયા, મેં તે ખાધાં. અને તેથી મારા હૃદયમાં હર્ષ તથા આનંદ ઉત્પન્ન થયો. કેમ કે હે સૈન્યોના ઈશ્વર, યહોવાહ, તમારા નામથી હું ઓળખાઉ છું.
When thy words were made manifest to me, then I greedily received them; and thy word became unto me the gladness and joy of my heart; for thy name is called upon me, O Lord of hosts.
17 ૧૭ મોજમજા કરનારાઓની સંગતમાં હું બેઠો નહિ કે હરખાયો નહિ. મારા પરના તારા હાથને લીધે હું એકલો બેઠો. તમે મને ક્રોધથી ભરપૂર કર્યો છે.
I sat not in the assembly of the mirthful, and was rejoiced; because of thy inspiration I sat solitary; for thou hadst filled me with indignation.
18 ૧૮ મને નિરંતર કેમ દુઃખ થાય છે. અને મારો ઘા સારો થતો નથી કે રુઝાતો કેમ નથી? તમે મારા પ્રત્યે કપટી વહેળાના પાણી જેવા થશો શું?
Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable? it refuseth to be healed; it is truly become unto me as a deceptive spring, as waters that are not reliable.
19 ૧૯ તેથી યહોવાહે આ પ્રમાણે કહ્યું કે, યર્મિયા, જો તું પસ્તાવો કરીશ તો હું તને પાછો લાવીશ. અને મારી આગળ તું ઊભો રહીશ. અને જો તું હલકામાંથી મૂલ્યવાન અલગ કરીશ તો તું મારા મુખ જેવો થઈશ. તેઓ તારા તરફ ફરશે. પણ તું તેઓની તરફ ફરીશ નહિ.
Therefore thus hath said the Lord, If thou return, and I bring thee back again, then shalt thou stand before me; and if thou bring forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: these shall return unto thee; but thou shalt not return unto them.
20 ૨૦ હું તને એ લોકો સામે પિત્તળની ભીંતરૂપ બનાવીશ, તેઓ તારી સામે લડશે. પણ તને હરાવી નહિ શકે. કેમ કે તને બચાવવા તથા તને છોડાવવા હું તારી સાથે છું. એમ યહોવાહ કહે છે.
And I will make thee unto this people as a fortified brazen wall; and they will fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the Lord.
And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the grasp of the tyrants.
