યશાયા 1
1 ૧ યહૂદિયાના રાજાઓ ઉઝિયા, યોથામ, આહાઝ અને હિઝકિયાની કારકિર્દીમાં આમોસના પુત્ર યશાયાને યહૂદિયા તથા યરુશાલેમ વિષે જે સંદર્શન થયું તે.
The vision of Isaiah son of Amoz, which he saw, concerning Judah and Jerusalem, —in the days of Uzziah Jotham Ahaz Hezekiah—kings of Judah.
2 ૨ હે આકાશો અને પૃથ્વી સાંભળો; કારણ કે યહોવાહ બોલ્યા છે: “મેં બાળકોને ઉછેરીને મોટાં કર્યાં પણ તેઓએ મારી વિરુદ્ધ બળવો કર્યો છે.
Hear O heavens, And give ear, O earth, for Yahweh, hath spoken: —Sons, have I brought up, and advanced, And, they, have rebelled against me.
3 ૩ બળદ પોતાના માલિકને ઓળખે છે અને ગધેડો પોતાના માલિકની ગભાણને ઓળખે છે, પણ ઇઝરાયલ જાણતો નથી, ઇઝરાયલ સમજતો નથી.”
An ox knoweth, his owner, And an ass his masters crib, —Israel, doth not know, My people doth not consider.
4 ૪ ઓહ! પ્રજાઓ, પાપીઓ, અપરાધોથી લદાયેલા લોકો, હે ખોટું કરનારનાં સંતાનો, હે સ્વછંદી સંતાનો! તેઓએ યહોવાહનો ત્યાગ કર્યો છે, ઇઝરાયલના પવિત્રને ધિક્કાર્યા છે. તેઓ વિમુખ થઈને પાછા ફરી ગયા છે.
Alas! a nation—committing sin, a people—burdened with iniquity, a seed—practising wickedness, sons—acting corruptly. They have forsaken Yahweh despised the Holy One of Israel, —Are estranged and gone back.
5 ૫ શું હજુ તમારે વધારે માર ખાવો છે કે તમે બળવો કર્યા કરો છો? આખું માથું રોગિષ્ઠ, આખું હૃદય કમજોર છે.
Why should ye be smitten any more? Ye would again turn aside! The whole head is sick, And the whole heart faint:
6 ૬ પગના તળિયાથી તે માથા સુધી કોઈ અંગ સાજું નથી; ફક્ત ઘા અને સોળ તથા પાકેલા જખમ છે; તેમને દબાવીને પરુ કાઢવામાં આવ્યું નથી, ઘા સાફ કર્યા નથી, નથી પાટા બાંધ્યા કે નથી તેમને તેલથી નરમ કરવામાં આવ્યા.
From the sole of the foot even unto the head, there is in it no soundness, Bruise and stripe and newly-made wound, —They have not been pressed out, nor bound up, nor soothed with oil.
7 ૭ તમારો દેશ ઉજ્જડ થઈ ગયો છે; તમારાં નગરો આગથી બાળી નાખવામાં આવ્યાં છે; તમારી હાજરીમાં તમારાં ખેતરોને પારકાઓએ ખેદાનમેદાન કરી નાખ્યાં છે - તેથી તમારી ભૂમિ ઉજ્જડ થઈ ગઈ છે.
Your country—is a desolation, Your cities—are consumed with fire, —Your soil—right before your eyes, foreigners are devouring it, And it is a desolation a very overthrow by foreigners;
And left is the Daughter of Zion, Like a hut in a vineyard, —Like a lodge in a gourd-plot Like a city besieged.
9 ૯ જો સૈન્યોના યહોવાહે આપણે માટે નાનો સરખો શેષ રહેવા દીધો ન હોત, તો આપણે સદોમ અને ગમોરાના જેવા થઈ ગયા હોત.
If, Yahweh of hosts, had not left us a very small remnant, Like Sodom, had we become, Gomorrah, had we resembled.
10 ૧૦ હે સદોમના રાજકર્તાઓ, તમે યહોવાહની વાત સાંભળો; હે ગમોરાના લોકો, આપણા ઈશ્વરના નિયમ પ્રત્યે કાન દો:
Hear the word of Yahweh, ye rulers of Sodom, —Give ear to the instruction of our God, ye people of Gomorrah: —
11 ૧૧ યહોવાહ કહે છે, “મારી આગળ તમે અસંખ્ય યજ્ઞો કરો છો તે મારે શા કામના?” “હું ઘેટાના દહનીયાર્પણથી તથા પુષ્ટ જાનવરોના મેદથી ધરાઈ ગયો છું; અને બળદો, હલવાન, તથા બકરાનું રક્ત મને પ્રસન્ન કરતું નથી.
Of what use to me, is your multitude of sacrifices: Saith Yahweh: I am sated with ascending-offerings of rams and the fat of fed beasts, —In the blood of bulls and young rams and he-goats, have I no pleasure.
12 ૧૨ જયારે તમે મારી સંમુખ આવો છો, ત્યારે મારાં આંગણાં તમે પગ નીચે કચડો છો, એમ કરવાનું કોણે તમારી પાસે માગ્યું છે?
When ye enter to see my face, Who hath required this at your hand trampling my courts?
13 ૧૩ તમારા વ્યર્થ અર્પણો લાવશો નહિ; ધૂપ તો મને ધિક્કારપાત્ર લાગે છે; ચંદ્રદર્શન તથા વિશ્રામવારની સભાઓ! હું આ દુષ્ટ સભાઓ સહન કરી શકતો નથી.
Ye shall not again bring in an empty, present, Incense, an abomination, is that unto me! New moon, and sabbath calling an assembly—I cannot endure, iniquity and sacred festival!
14 ૧૪ તમારા ચંદ્રદર્શનને અને તમારાં પર્વોને મારો આત્મા ધિક્કારે છે; તેઓ મને બોજારૂપ છે; હું તે સહન કરીને થાકી ગયો છું.
Your new moons and your appointed feasts, my soul, hateth, —They have become unto me a burden I am too weary to bear:
15 ૧૫ તેથી જ્યારે તમે પ્રાર્થનામાં હાથ જોડશો, ત્યારે હું મારી નજર ફેરવી લઈશ. જો કે તમે ઘણી પ્રાર્થનાઓ કરશો, તો પણ હું સાંભળનાર નથી; કેમ કે તમારા હાથ રક્તથી ભરેલા છે.
Even when ye spread forth your open palms, I hide mine eyes from you; Yea, though ye multiply prayers, I am not hearkening, —Your hands, with deeds of blood, are filled.
Wash you make you clean, Put away the wickedness of your doings from before mine eyes, —Cease to do evil.
17 ૧૭ સારું કરતા શીખો; ન્યાય શોધો, જુલમથી દુ: ખી થયેલાંને મદદ કરો, અનાથને ઇનસાફ આપો, વિધવાની હિમાયત કરો.”
Learn to do well—Seek justice, Correct the oppressor, —Vindicate the fatherless, Plead the cause of the widow,
18 ૧૮ યહોવાહ કહે છે, “આવો, આપણે વિવાદ કરીએ” “તમારાં પાપ જો કે લાલ વસ્ત્રના જેવાં હોય, તો પણ તેઓ હિમ સરખાં શ્વેત થશે; જો તે કિરમજના જેવાં રાતાં હોય, તો પણ તેઓ ઊન સરખાં થશે.
Come, I pray you, and let us settle the dispute Saith Yahweh, —Though your sins be found like scarlet, As snow, shall they be made white, Though they appear red like crimson, As wool, shall they become.
If ye be willing—and hearken Of the good of the land, shall ye eat;
20 ૨૦ પણ જો તમે ઇનકાર કરશો અને બળવા કરશો, તો તમે તલવારથી માર્યા જશો,” કેમ કે આ યહોવાહના મુખનું વચન છે.
But, if ye refuse and rebel, With the sword, shall ye be devoured, For, the mouth of Yahweh, hath spoken it.
21 ૨૧ વિશ્વાસુ નગર કેમ વ્યભિચારી થઈ ગયું છે! તે ઇનસાફથી, ન્યાયપણાથી ભરપૂર હતું, પણ હવે તે ખૂનીઓથી ભરપૂર છે.
How hath she become unchaste!—The city that was Faithful, —Full of justice, Righteousness lodged in her, But, now, murderers!
Thy silver, hath become dross, —Thy wine, weakened with water;
23 ૨૩ તારા રાજકર્તાઓ બળવાખોર અને ચોરોના સાથીઓ થયા છે; તેઓમાંના દરેક લાંચના લાલચુ છે અને નજરાણાં પાછળ દોડે છે; તેઓ અનાથનું રક્ષણ કરતા નથી, અને વિધવાઓની ન્યાયી અરજ તેઓ સાંભળતા નથી.
Thy rulers, are unruly, and companions of thieves, Every one of the people, loveth a bribe, and runneth after rewards, —The fatherless, they do not vindicate, And, the plea of the widow, reacheth them not.
24 ૨૪ તેથી સૈન્યોના યહોવાહ, ઇઝરાયલના સામર્થ્યવાન પ્રભુ, એવું કહે છે: “તેઓને અફસોસ! હું મારા શત્રુઓ પર વેર વાળીશ અને મારા દુશ્મનોને હું બદલો વાળી આપીશ;
Therefore, Declareth the Lord Yahweh of hosts, The Mighty One of Israel, —Alas! I must appease me on mine adversaries, I must avenge me on mine enemies
That I may turn my hand against thee, And smelt away, as with potash, thy dross, And remove all thine alloy;
26 ૨૬ આદિકાળની જેમ હું તારા ન્યાયાધીશોને, અને પૂર્વકાળની જેમ તારા મંત્રીઓને પાછા લાવીશ; ત્યાર પછી તારું નામ ન્યાયી અને વિશ્વાસુ નગર કહેવાશે.”
That I may restore thy Judges as at the first, and thy Counsellors as at the beginning, —After that, shalt thou be called Righteous citadel, Trusty city, —
Zion, with justice shall be redeemed, —And her returning ones, with righteousness;
And the downfall of transgressors and sinners, shall be, together, —And, they who forsake Yahweh, shall be brought to an end;
29 ૨૯ “કેમ કે જે એલોન વૃક્ષોને તમે ચાહતા હતા તેને લીધે તમે શરમાશો અને જે બગીચાને તમે પસંદ કર્યા હતા તેઓથી તમે લજ્જિત થશો.
For they shall turn pale on account of the oaks which ye desired, —And ye shall blush on account of the gardens which ye had chosen;
For ye shall be as an oak with its leaf faded, And as a garden that hath no, water;
31 ૩૧ વળી જે બળવાન છે તે શણના કચરા જેવો અને તેનું કામ ચિનગારી જેવું થશે; તેઓ બન્ને સાથે બળશે અને તેને હોલવનાર કોઈ મળશે નહિ.”
Then shall the strong one become tow, And his work a spark, —And they shall both blaze together And there be none to quench the fire.
