યશાયા 58

1 ૧ મોટા આવજે પોકાર, કંઈ પણ બાકી ન રાખ, રણશિંગડાની જેમ તારો અવાજ ઊંચો કર, મારા લોકોને તેઓના અપરાધો અને યાકૂબના ઘરનાંને તેઓનાં પાપ કહી સંભળાવો.

Cry aloud, spare not, Lift up thy voice like a trumpet, And show my people their transgression, And the house of Jacob their sins!

2 ૨ જેમ તેઓ ન્યાયીપણું કરનારી પ્રજા હોય અને તેઓના ઈશ્વરના નિયમને તજનાર ન હોય તે પ્રમાણે, તેઓ રોજ મને શોધે છે અને મારા માર્ગોના ડહાપણમાં આનંદ કરે છે. તેઓ મારી પાસે ન્યાયી ચુકાદા માગે છે; ઈશ્વર તેઓની પાસે આવે છે તેમાં તેઓ આનંદ માણે છે.

Yet they seek me daily, And desire to know my ways, As a nation that hath done righteousness, And hath not forsaken the ordinances of their God; They inquire of me concerning the judgments which bring salvation; They long for the coming of God.

3 ૩ તેઓ કહે છે, “અમે ઉપવાસ કર્યો છે પણ તમે કેમ જોયું નહિ? અમે અમારી જાતોને નમ્ર કરી, પણ કેમ તમે ધ્યાન આપ્યું નહિ?” જુઓ, ઉપવાસને દિવસે તમે તમારા આનંદને શોધો છો અને તમારા સર્વ મજૂરો પર જુલમ ગુજારો છો.

“Wherefore do we fast, and thou seest not? Wherefore do we afflict our souls, and thou dost not regard it?” Behold, in the day of your fasts ye pursue your pleasure, And exact all your labors.

4 ૪ જુઓ, તમે ઝઘડા તથા કંકાસને માટે અને દુષ્ટતાની મુક્કી મારવા માટે ઉપવાસ કરો છો; તમારી વાણી આકાશમાં સંભળાય તે માટે તમે આજકાલ ઉપવાસ કરતા નથી.

Behold, ye fast in strife and contention, And smiting with the fist of wickedness. Ye do not fast now So that your voice shall be heard on high.

5 ૫ ખરેખર આ પ્રકારના ઉપવાસ હું ઇચ્છું છું: તે દિવસે દરેક માણસ પોતાની જાતને નમ્ર કરે, પોતાનું માથું બરુની જેમ નમાવે અને પોતાની બેઠક નીચે ટાટ તથા રાખનું પાથરણું કરે? શું ખરેખર તમે આને ઉપવાસ, યહોવાહનો માન્ય દિવસ કહો છો?

Is this the fast that I approve, A day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it that he should bow down his head like a bulrush, And lie down in sackcloth and ashes? Wilt thou call this a fast, And a day acceptable to Jehovah?

6 ૬ આ એ ઉપવાસ નથી જેને હું પસંદ કરું છું: દુષ્ટતાનાં બંધનો છોડવાં, ઝૂંસરીનાં દોરડાં છોડવાં, કચડાયેલાઓને મુકત કરવા અને દરેક ઝૂંસરીને ભાંગી નાખવી.

Is not this the fast that I approve, —To loose the bands of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And to break in pieces every yoke?

7 ૭ શું ભૂખ્યાઓની સાથે તારી રોટલી વહેંચવી અને દરિદ્રી તથા બેઘર લોકોને પોતાના ઘરે બોલાવવા એ ઉપવાસ નથી? જ્યારે તું કોઈને નિર્વસ્ત્ર જુએ ત્યારે તારે તેને વસ્ત્ર પહેરાવવું; અને તારા સંબંધીઓથી તારે સંતાવું નહિ.

Is it not to break thy bread to the hungry, And to bring the poor, that are cast out, to thy house? When thou seest the naked, that thou clothe him, And that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

8 ૮ ત્યારે તારો પ્રકાશ પ્રભાતના જેવો થશે અને તારું આરોગ્ય જલદી થશે; તારું ન્યાયીપણું તારી આગળ ચાલશે અને યહોવાહનું ગૌરવ તારો પીઠરક્ષક થશે.

Then shall thy light break forth like the morning, And thy health shall spring forth speedily; Thy salvation shall go before thee, And the glory of Jehovah shall bring up thy rear.

9 ૯ ત્યારે તું હાંક મારશે અને યહોવાહ ઉત્તર આપશે; તું સહાય માટે પોકાર કરશે અને તે કહેશે, “હું આ રહ્યો.” જો તું તારામાંથી ઝૂંસરીને દૂર કરે, દોષ મૂકનારી આંગળી અને ભૂંડું બોલવાનું દૂર કરે,

Then shalt thou call, and Jehovah will answer; Thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Lo, here I am! If thou remove from the midst of thee the yoke, The pointing of the finger, and the injurious speech.

10 ૧૦ જો તું ભૂખ્યાને ખોરાક પૂરો પાડે અને દુઃખીના જીવને તૃપ્ત કરે; તો તારો પ્રકાશ અંધકારમાંથી ઝળકી ઊઠશે અને તારો અંધકાર બપોરના જેવો થઈ જશે.

If thou bring forth thy bread to the hungry, And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then in obscurity shall light arise to thee; Yea, thy darkness shall become as noonday;

11 ૧૧ ત્યારે યહોવાહ તને નિત્ય દોરશે અને તારા આત્માનાં સૂકા પ્રદેશને તૃપ્ત કરશે અને તારાં હાડકાં મજબૂત કરશે. તું સારી રીતે પાણી પાયેલી વાડીના જેવો અને ઝરાના અખૂટ ભંડાર જેવો થશે.

Jehovah shall lead thee continually, And satisfy thee in the time of drought, And strengthen thy bones; Thou shalt be like a watered garden, and a spring of water, Whose waters never fail.

12 ૧૨ તમારામાંના ઘણા પુરાતનકાળનાં ખંડિયેર નગરોને ફરીથી બાંધશે; ઘણી પેઢીઓનાં ખંડિયેર પર તું ચણતર કરશે; તું “કોટને સમારનાર,” “ધોરી માર્ગોનો મરામત કરનાર” કહેવાશે.

Thy people shall build the ancient desolations, The ruins of many generations shall they restore; Thou shalt be called the repairer of the breach, The restorer of ways for inhabitants.

13 ૧૩ જો તું વિશ્રામવારના દિવસે મુસાફરી કરતાં તારા પગોને વાળે અને તે પવિત્ર દિવસે તારી પોતાની ખુશી માટે કાર્ય કરતા રોકશે. જો તું સાબ્બાથને આનંદદાયક કહે અને યહોવાહના પવિત્ર દિવસને પવિત્ર અને આદરણીય માનશે. જો તું સાબ્બાથને દિવસે પોતાનો ધંધોરોજગાર છોડીને તથા પોતાની ખુશી નહિ શોધીને તથા તારા પોતાના જ શબ્દો નહિ બોલીને માન આપશે.

If thou restrain thy foot from the sabbath, From doing thy pleasure on my holy day, If thou shalt call the sabbath a delight, The holy day of Jehovah honorable, And shalt honor it by refraining from thy work, From doing thy pleasure, and speaking vain words,

14 ૧૪ તો તું યહોવાહમાં આનંદ પામશે; અને હું પૃથ્વીના ઉચ્ચસ્થાનો પર તને સવારી કરાવીશ; હું તારા પિતા યાકૂબના વારસાથી તારું પોષણ કરીશ - કેમ કે યહોવાહનું મુખ એ બોલ્યું છે.

Then shalt thou delight thyself in Jehovah. And I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, And cause thee to enjoy the inheritance of Jacob, thy father; For the mouth of Jehovah hath spoken it.
