Now, then—hear, O Jacob, my Servant, —and Israel whom I have chosen:
2 ૨ તારો કર્તા, ગર્ભસ્થાનમાં તને રચનાર અને તને સહાય કરનાર યહોવાહ એવું કહે છે: “હે મારા સેવક યાકૂબ, મારા પસંદ કરેલા યશુરૂન, તું બીશ નહિ.
Thus, saith Yahweh—Who made thee and formed thee from birth, Who helpeth thee: Do not fear O my Servant Jacob, and Jeshurun whom I have chosen;
3 ૩ કેમ કે હું તરસી ભૂમિ પર પાણી રેડીશ અને સૂકી ભૂમિ પર ધારાઓ વહાવીશ; હું તારાં સંતાન ઉપર મારો આત્મા તથા તારા વંશજો પર મારો આશીર્વાદ રેડીશ.
For I will pour, Water upon the thirsty soil, and Floods upon the dry ground, —I will pour My spirit upon thy seed, and My blessing upon thine offspring;
So will they spring up among the grass, As willows by the water-courses:
5 ૫ એક કહેશે, ‘હું યહોવાહનો છું’ અને બીજો યાકૂબનું નામ ધારણ કરશે; તથા ત્રીજો પોતાના હાથ પર ‘યહોવાહને અર્થે’ એવું લખાવશે અને ‘ઇઝરાયલના નામથી’ બોલાવાશે.”
This one, will say Yahweh’s, am I, and That one, will call himself by the name of Jacob, and Yonder one will write on his hand—Yahweh’s, And after the name of Israel, will one entitle himself.
6 ૬ ઇઝરાયલના રાજા, તેના ઉદ્ધારક, સૈન્યોના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ એવું કહે છે: “હું આદિ છું અને હું જ અંત છું; મારા વિના બીજો કોઈ ઈશ્વર નથી.
Thus saith Yahweh—King of Israel, Even his Redeemer, Yahweh of hosts, —I, am, First, and, I, Last, And besides me, there is no God.
7 ૭ મેં પુરાતન કાળના લોકોને સ્થાપન કર્યા, ત્યારથી મારા જેવો સંદેશો પ્રગટ કરનાર કોણ છે? જો કોઈ હોય તો તે આગળ આવે, પ્રગટ કરે અને તેની ઘોષણા કરે! વળી જે થવાનું તથા વીતવાનું છે, તે તેઓ જાહેર કરે!
Who then, like me, can call, and declare it, and order it, for me, Seeing that I appointed an age-abiding people, —Or things yet to be, and that shall come to pass, Let them declare on their part.
8 ૮ ગભરાશો નહિ કે બીશો નહિ. શું મેં પ્રાચીનકાળથી સંભળાવીને તેને જાહેર કર્યું નથી? તમે મારા સાક્ષી છો: શું મારા વિના અન્ય કોઈ ઈશ્વર છે? કોઈ ખડક નથી; હું કોઈને જાણતો નથી.”
Do not ye dread, nor yet be alarmed, Have I not from olden time, told thee and declared? So that, ye, are my witnesses, —Whether there is a GOD besides me? Or is no Rock—I knew of none!
9 ૯ કોરેલી મૂર્તિના બનાવનાર સર્વ શૂન્યવત છે; તેઓના પ્રિય પદાર્થો કશા કામના નથી; તેઓના સાક્ષીઓ પોતે જોતા નથી કે જાણતા નથી અને તેઓ લજ્જિત થાય છે.
The fashioners of an image—all of them, are emptiness, And, the things they delight in, cannot profit, —And, their, witnesses, they, neither see nor know, That they may be ashamed.
Who hath fashioned a GOD, Oran image, hath molten? It cannot profit!
11 ૧૧ જુઓ એના સર્વ સહકર્મીઓ લજ્જિત થશે; કારીગરો પોતે માણસો જ છે. તેઓ સર્વ ભેગા થાય તેઓ ભેગા રહે; તેઓ બી જશે અને લજ્જિત થશે.
Lo! all his partners, turn pale, Even, the artificers themselves, are of the sons of earth, —Let them gather themselves together—all of them. Let them take their stand, Let them dread, and turn pale, together!
12 ૧૨ લુહાર ઓજાર તૈયાર કરે છે, તે અંગારામાં કામ કરે છે, તે હથોડાથી તેને બનાવે છે અને પોતાના બળવાન હાથથી તેને ઘડે છે. વળી તેને ભૂખ લાગે છે ત્યારે તેનામાં કઈ બળ રહેતું નથી. તે પાણી પીતો નથી અને નિર્બળ થાય છે.
As for the smith, [with his] cutting-tool, —When he hath wrought in the live coals, And, with hammers, hath fashioned it, —And hath wrought it with his strong arm, Anon he is hungry, and hath no strength, He hath drunk no water and so hath become faint!
13 ૧૩ સુથાર રંગેલી દોરીથી તેને માપે છે અને ચોકથી રેખા દોરે છે. તે તેના પર રંધો મારે છે અને વર્તુળથી તેની રેખા દોરે છે. મંદિરમાં મૂકવા માટે પુરુષના આકાર પ્રમાણે, માણસના સૌંદર્ય પ્રમાણે તે તેને બનાવે છે.
As for the carpenter, —He hath stretched out a line hath drawn it with a pencil, Hath made it with carving tools, With compasses, hath rounded it, —And so hath made it after the figure of a great man, After the beauty of a son of earth, that it may remain in a house!
14 ૧૪ તે પોતાને માટે એરેજવૃક્ષ, દેવદાર અને એલોન વૃક્ષ કાપી નાખે છે. વનનાં વૃક્ષોમાંનું એક મજબૂત વૃક્ષ પોતાને માટે પસંદ કરે છે; તે દેવદાર રોપે છે અને વરસાદ તેને મોટું કરે છે.
When one was cutting him down cedars, Then took he a holm-tree and an oak, And secured them for himself, among the trees of the forest, —He planted a fir-tree and the pouring rain made it grow;
15 ૧૫ તે માણસને બળતણ તરીકે કામ લાગે છે અને તેમાંથી તાપે છે. હા, તેને સળગાવીને તેના પર રોટલી શેકે છે. વળી તેમાંથી તે દેવ બનાવીને તેને પ્રણામ કરે છે; તેની કોરેલી મૂર્તિ કરીને તે એને પગે લાગે છે.
So it serveth for a man to burn, And he hath taken of the branches and warmed himself, Also he kindleth a fire, and baketh bread, —Also he maketh a GOD, and hath bowed himself down, Hath made of it a carved image, and adored it:
16 ૧૬ તેનો અર્ધો ભાગ તે અગ્નિમાં બાળી નાખે છે, તેના ઉપર તે માંસ પકવે છે. તે ખાય છે અને તૃપ્ત થાય છે. વળી તે તાપે છે અને કહે છે, ‘વાહ! મને હુંફ મળી છે, મેં આગ જોઈ છે.”
The half thereof, hath he burned in the fire, Over half thereof, he eateth flesh, He roasteth roast, that he may be satisfied, —Also he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen a blaze;
17 ૧૭ પછી જે ભાગ બાકી રહે છે તેનો તે દેવ બનાવે છે, તેની મૂર્તિ બનાવે છે, તે તેને પગે લાગે છે અને આદર આપે છે. અને તેની પ્રાર્થના કરીને કહે છે, “મને બચાવ, કેમ કે તું મારો દેવ છે.”
And the residue thereof, Into a GOD, he maketh, Into his carved image, —Adoreth it, and boweth down and prayeth unto it, And saith Deliver me, for, my GOD, thou art!
18 ૧૮ તેઓ જાણતા નથી કે સમજતા પણ નથી, તેઓની આંખો અંધ છે, જે કંઈ જોઈ શકતી નથી તથા તેઓનાં હૃદય કંઈ જાણી શકતાં નથી.
They have not taken note, neither can they perceive, —He hath besmeared—past seeing—their eyes, Past understanding, their hearts;
19 ૧૯ કોઈ ધ્યાનમાં લેતો નથી અને કહેતો નથી, આ લાકડાનો અર્ધો ભાગ મેં અગ્નિમાં બાંધ્યો; વળી તેના અંગારા પર રોટલી શેકી; મેં તેના ઉપર માંસ શેક્યું અને ખાધું. તો હવે, આ શેષ રહેલા લાકડામાંથી કોઈ અમંગળ વસ્તુ બનાવીને તેની પૂજા કેમ કરું? શું હું લાકડાના ટુકડાની આગળ નમુ?”
And no one reflecteth—There is neither knowledge nor discernment—to say, Half thereof, have I burned up in the fire Moreover also I have baked, on the coals thereof, bread, I roasted flesh, and have been eating, —And of the remainder thereof, an abomination, shall I make? And, to a log of wood, shall I pay adoration?
20 ૨૦ તે જેમ રાખ ખાય છે, તેના મૂર્ખ હૃદયે તેને ભુલાવ્યો છે. તે પોતાનો જીવ બચાવી શકતો નથી, તે એવું કહી શકતો નથી કે, “મારા જમણા હાથમાં જૂઠો દેવ છે.”
He is feeding on ashes, A deluded heart, hath turned him aside, —And he cannot deliver his own soul nor say, Is there not a falsehood in my right hand?
21 ૨૧ હે યાકૂબ તથા હે ઇઝરાયલ, એ વાતો વિષે વિચાર કર, કેમ કે તું મારો સેવક છે; મેં તને બનાવ્યો છે; તું મારો સેવક છે: હે ઇઝરાયલ, હું તને ભૂલી જનાર નથી.
Remember these things, O Jacob, And, Israel, —for, my Servant, thou art, —I have fashioned thee, a Servant of mine, thou art.
22 ૨૨ મેં તારા અપરાધો મેઘની જેમ તથા તારાં પાપો વાદળની જેમ ભૂંસી નાખ્યાં છે; મારી તરફ પાછો ફર, કેમ કે મેં તારો ઉદ્ધાર કર્યો છે.
O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me, I have wiped out, As with a thick cloud, thy transgressions, And as with a broad cloud, thy sins, —Return unto me, for I have redeemed thee.
23 ૨૩ હે આકાશો, તમે હર્ષનાદ કરો, કેમ કે યહોવાહે તે કર્યું છે; હે પૃથ્વીના ઊંડાણો, તમે જયઘોષ કરો; હે પર્વતો, વન તથા તેમાંનાં સર્વ વૃક્ષો તમે ગાયન કરવા માંડો, કેમ કે યહોવાહે યાકૂબનો ઉદ્ધાર કર્યો છે અને ઇઝરાયલમાં તે પોતાનો મહિમા પ્રગટ કરશે.
Shout in triumph ye heavens for Yahweh, hath effectually wrought. Shout, O ye underparts of the earth, Ring out, Ye mountains, into cries of triumph, Thou forest, and every tree therein, —For, Yahweh, hath redeemed, Jacob, And in Israel, will he get himself glory.
24 ૨૪ તારો ઉદ્ધાર કરનાર યહોવાહ, ગર્ભસ્થાનથી તારો બનાવનાર એમ કહે છે: “હું યહોવાહ સર્વનો કર્તા છું; જે એકલા જ આકાશોને વિસ્તારે છે, પોતાની જાતે પૃથ્વીને વિસ્તારે છે.
Thus, saith Yahweh Who hath redeemed thee, Who hath fashioned thee from birth, —I—Yahweh, am the maker of all things, Stretching out the heavens, alone, Spreading forth the earth, of myself;
25 ૨૫ હું દંભીઓનાં ચિહ્નોને ખોટા ઠરાવું છું અને શકુન જોનારાઓને બેવકૂફ બનાવું છું; હું જ્ઞાનીઓના વચનને ઊંધું કરી નાખું છું અને તેઓની વિદ્યાને મૂર્ખાઈ ઠરાવું છું.
Frustrating the signs of praters, And, diviners, he confoundeth, —Turning wise men backwards, And their knowledge, he maketh folly;
26 ૨૬ હું, યહોવાહ! પોતાના સેવકની વાતને સ્થિર કરનાર અને મારા સંદેશાવાહકોના સંદેશાને સત્ય ઠરાવનાર છું, જે યરુશાલેમ વિષે કહે છે, ‘તેમાં વસ્તી થશે;’ અને યહૂદિયાનાં નગરો વિષે કહે છે, “તેઓ ફરી બંધાશે, હું તેનાં ખંડિયેર પાછાં બાંધીશ.
Establishing the word of his Servant, And the counsel of his Messengers, he maketh good, —Who saith of Jerusalem—She shall be inhabited! And of the cities of Judah—They shall be built! And the ruins thereof, will I set up!
Who saith to the deep—Be dry and Thy rivers, will I drain!
28 ૨૮ તે કોરેશ વિષે કહે છે, ‘તે મારો ઘેટાંપાળક છે, તે મારા બધા મનોરથો પૂરા કરશે’ વળી તે યરુશાલેમ વિષે કહે છે, ‘તું ફરી બંધાઈશ’ અને સભાસ્થાન વિષે કહે છે, ‘તારો પાયો નાખવામાં આવશે.’”
Who saith of Cyrus—My Shepherd! and All my pleasure, shall he make good Even saying of Jerusalem—She shall be built! And of the temple—Be her foundation laid!
