હિબ્રૂઓને પત્ર 11
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 ૩ વિશ્વાસથી આપણે જાણીએ છીએ કે, ‘ઈશ્વરના શબ્દથી સમગ્ર વિશ્વ ઉત્પન્ન થયું છે અને જે દ્રશ્ય છે, તે દ્રશ્ય વસ્તુઓથી ઉત્પન્ન થયાં નથી. (aiōn g165)
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which appeared. (aiōn g165)
4 ૪ વિશ્વાસથી હાબેલે કાઈનના કરતાં વધારે સારુ બલિદાન ઈશ્વરને ચઢાવ્યું, તેથી તે ન્યાયી છે, એમ તેના સંબંધી સાક્ષી આપવામાં આવી, કેમ કે ઈશ્વરે તેનાં અર્પણો સંબંધી સાક્ષી આપી; અને તેથી તે મૃત્યુ પામેલો હોવા છતાં પણ હજી બોલે છે.
By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained testimony that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
5 ૫ વિશ્વાસથી હનોખને ઉપર લઈ લેવામાં આવ્યો કે તે મૃત્યુનો અનુભવ કરે નહિ અને તે અદ્રશ્ય થયો, કેમ કે ઈશ્વર તેને ઉપર લઈ ગયા હતા, તેને ઉપર લઈ લેવામાં આવ્યો તે પહેલાં તેના સંબંધી એ સાક્ષી થઈ કે ‘ઈશ્વર તેના પર પ્રસન્ન હતા.’”
By faith Enoch was translated, that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6 ૬ પણ વિશ્વાસ વગર ઈશ્વરને પ્રસન્ન કરવા એ શક્ય નથી, કેમ કે ઈશ્વરની પાસે જે આવે છે, તેણે એવો વિશ્વાસ કરવો જોઈએ કે તેઓ છે અને જેઓ ખંતથી તેમને શોધે છે તેઓને તે ફળ પણ આપનાર છે.
But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
7 ૭ નૂહે જે બાબત હજી સુધી જોઈ ન હતી, તે વિષે ચેતવણી પ્રાપ્ત કરીને તથા ઈશ્વરની બીક રાખીને, વિશ્વાસથી પોતાના કુટુંબનાં ઉદ્ધારને માટે વહાણ તૈયાર કર્યું, તેથી તેણે માનવજગતને અપરાધી ઠરાવ્યું અને વિશ્વાસથી જે ન્યાયીપણું છે તેનો તે વારસ થયો.
By faith Noah, being warned by God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
8 ૮ ઇબ્રાહિમ જે જગ્યા વારસામાં પામવાનો હતો, તેમાં જવાને તેડું પામીને આજ્ઞાધીન થયો, એટલે પોતે ક્યાં જાય છે, એ ન જાણ્યાં છતાં વિશ્વાસથી તે રવાના થયો.
By faith Abraham, when he was called to remove into a place which he should afterwards receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out not knowing whither he was going.
9 ૯ વિશ્વાસથી ઇબ્રાહિમે જાણે પરદેશમાં હોય તેમ વચનના દેશમાં પ્રવાસ કર્યો અને તેની સાથે તે જ વચનના સહવારસો ઇસહાક તથા યાકૂબ તેની જેમ તંબુઓમાં રહેતા.
By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as [in] a foreign country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker [is] God.
11 ૧૧ વિશ્વાસથી સારા પણ વૃધ્ધ થયા પછી ગર્ભ ધારણ કરવા સામર્થ્ય પામી; કેમ કે જેણે વચન આપ્યું હતું, તેમને તેણે વિશ્વાસપાત્ર ગણ્યા.
Through faith also Sarah herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
12 ૧૨ એ માટે એકથી અને તે પણ વળી મૂએલા જેવો, તેનાથી સંખ્યામાં આકાશમાંના તારા જેટલાં તથા સમુદ્રના કાંઠા પરની રેતી જે અગણિત છે તેના જેટલાં લોક ઉત્પન્ન થયા.
Therefore there sprang even from one, and him as good as dead, [so many] as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea-shore innumerable.
13 ૧૩ એ સઘળાં વિશ્વાસમાં મૃત્યુ પામ્યા તેઓને વચનોનાં ફળ મળ્યા નહિ, પણ દૂરથી તે નિહાળીને તેમણે અભિવાદન કર્યા અને પોતા વિષે કબૂલ કર્યું છે કે અમે પૃથ્વી પર પરદેશી તથા મુસાફર છીએ.
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of [them], and embraced [them], and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
And truly, if they had been mindful of that [country] from whence they came, they might have had opportunity to return.
16 ૧૬ પણ હવે વધારે ઉત્તમ, એટલે સ્વર્ગીય દેશની તેઓ બહુ ઇચ્છા રાખે છે; માટે ઈશ્વર તેઓના ઈશ્વર કહેવાતા શરમાતા નથી, કેમ કે તેમણે તેઓને માટે એક શહેર નિર્માણ કર્યું છે.
But now they desire a better [country], that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for he hath prepared for them a city.
17 ૧૭ ઇબ્રાહિમે, જયારે તેની કસોટી થઈ ત્યારે વિશ્વાસથી ઇસહાકનું બલિદાન આપ્યું; એટલે જેને વચનો આપવામાં આવ્યા હતા અને જેને એવું કહેવામાં આવ્યું હતું કે,
By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only-begotten [son],
Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
19 ૧૯ કેમ કે તે એવું માનતો હતો કે ઈશ્વર મૃત્યુ પામેલાઓને પણ ઉઠાડવાને સમર્થ છે; અને પુનરુત્થાનની ઉપમા પ્રમાણે તે તેને પાછો મળ્યો પણ ખરો.
Accounting that God [was] able to raise [him] even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.
21 ૨૧ વિશ્વાસથી યાકૂબે પોતાના મૃત્યુ સમયે યૂસફના બન્ને દીકરાઓને આશીર્વાદ આપ્યો અને પોતાની લાકડીના હાથા પર ટેકીને ભજન કર્યું.
By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshiped, [leaning] upon the top of his staff.
22 ૨૨ વિશ્વાસથી યૂસફે પોતાના અંતકાળે ઇઝરાયલના સંતાનના નિર્ગમન વિષેની વાત સંભળાવી અને પોતાનાં અસ્થિ સંબંધી આજ્ઞા આપી.
By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.
23 ૨૩ વિશ્વાસથી મૂસાનાં માતાપિતાએ તેના જનમ્યાં પછી ત્રણ મહિના સુધી તેને સંતાડી રાખ્યો; કેમ કે તેઓએ જોયું, કે તે સુંદર બાળક છે અને તેઓ રાજાની આજ્ઞાથી ગભરાયા નહિ.
By faith Moses when he was born, was hid three months by his parents, because they saw [he was] a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.
By faith Moses, when he had come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;
Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
26 ૨૬ મિસરમાંના દ્રવ્ય ભંડારો કરતાં ખ્રિસ્ત સાથે નિંદા સહન કરવી એ અધિક સંપત્તિ છે, એમ તેણે ગણ્યું; કેમ કે જે ફળ મળવાનું હતું તે તરફ જ તેણે લક્ષ રાખ્યું.
Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt: for he had respect to the recompense of the reward.
27 ૨૭ વિશ્વાસથી તેણે મિસરનો ત્યાગ કર્યો; અને રાજાના ક્રોધથી તે ગભરાયો નહિ. કેમ કે જાણે તે અદ્રશ્યને જોતો હોય એમ દૃઢ રહ્યો.
By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
28 ૨૮ વિશ્વાસથી તેણે પાસ્ખાપર્વની તથા લોહી છાંટવાની વિધિનું પાલન કર્યું, જેથી પ્રથમ જનિતોનો નાશ કરનાર તેઓને સ્પર્શ કરે નહિ.
Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the first-born should touch them.
29 ૨૯ વિશ્વાસથી તેઓ જેમ કોરી જમીન પર ચાલતા હોય તેમ લાલ સમુદ્રમાં થઈને પાર ગયા; એવો પ્રયત્ન કરતાં મિસરીઓ ડૂબીને મૃત્યુ પામ્યા.
By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry [land]: which the Egyptians essaying to do were drowned.
By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encompassed seven days.
31 ૩૧ વિશ્વાસથી રાહાબ ગણિકાએ જાસૂસોનો ખુશીથી સત્કાર કર્યો તેથી યરીખોના અનાજ્ઞાંકિતોની સાથે તેનો નાશ થયો નહિ.
By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, as she had received the spies with peace.
32 ૩૨ એનાથી વધારે શું કહું? કેમ કે ગિદિયોન, બારાક, સામસૂન, યિફતા, દાઉદ, શમુએલ તથા પ્રબોધકો વિષે વિસ્તારથી કહેવાને મને પૂરતો સમય નથી.
And what shall I say more? for the time would fail me to tell of Gideon, and [of] Barak, and [of] Samson, and [of] Jephthah, [of] David also, and Samuel, and [of] the prophets:
33 ૩૩ તેઓએ વિશ્વાસથી રાજ્યો જીત્યાં, ન્યાયી આચરણ કર્યું, આશાવચનો પ્રાપ્ત કર્યાં, સિંહોનાં મુખ બંધ કર્યાં,
Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
34 ૩૪ અગ્નિનું બળ નિષ્ફળ કર્યું, તેઓ તલવારની ધારથી બચ્યા, નિર્બળતામાંથી બળવાન કરાયા, લડાઈમાં પરાક્રમી થયા અને વિદેશીઓના સૈન્યને નસાડી દીધાં.
Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
35 ૩૫ વિશ્વાસથી સ્ત્રીઓએ પોતાના સ્વજનોને જીવંત સ્વરૂપે પાછા મેળવ્યા કેટલાક રિબાઈ રિબાઈને મરણ પામ્યા, તેઓએ છુટકારાનો અંગીકાર કર્યો નહિ, કે જેથી તેઓ વધારે સારુ પુનરુત્થાન પામે;
Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
And others had trial of [cruel] mockings and scourgings, and, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
37 ૩૭ તેઓ પથ્થરોથી મરાયા, કરવતથી વહેરાયા, તેઓને લાલચ આપવામાં આવી, તલવારની ધારથી માર્યા ગયા, ઘેટાંના તથા બકરાંનાં ચામડાં પહેરીને ફરતાં રહ્યા. તેઓ કંગાલ, રિબાયેલા તથા પીડાયેલા હતા;
They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheep-skins, and goat-skins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
38 ૩૮ માનવજગત તેઓને રહેવા માટે યોગ્ય ન હતું, તેઓ અરણ્યમાં, પહાડોમાં, ગુફાઓમાં તથા પૃથ્વીની ગુફાઓમાં ફરતા રહ્યા.
(Of whom the world was not worthy: ) they wandered in deserts, and [in] mountains, and [in] dens and caves of the earth.
And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
40 ૪૦ કેમ કે ઈશ્વરે આપણે માટે એથી વિશેષ કંઈ ઉત્તમ નિર્માણ કર્યું હતું; જેથી તેઓ આપણા વગર પરિપૂર્ણ થાય નહિ.
God having provided some better [thing] for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
