આમોસ 4
1 ૧ હે સમરુનના પર્વત પરની ગરીબોને હેરાન કરનારી, દુર્બળોને સતાવનારી, “લાવો આપણે પીએ.” એમ પોતાના માલિકોને કહેનારી બાશાનની ગાયો તમે આ વચન સાંભળો.
Hear these words, O ye kine of Bashan, That are on the mountain of Samaria; That oppress the poor; that crush the needy; That say to your master, Bring, and let us drink!
2 ૨ પ્રભુ યહોવાહે પોતાની પવિત્રતાને નામે પ્રતિજ્ઞા લીધી છે કે; “જુઓ, તમારા પર એવા આપત્તિના દિવસો આવી પડશે કે, જ્યારે તેઓ તમને કડીઓ ઘાલીને, તથા તમારામાંના બાકી રહેલાઓને માછલી પકડવાના ગલ વડે ઘસડી જવામાં આવશે.
The Lord Jehovah hath sworn by his holiness; Behold, the days shall come upon you When ye shall be taken away with hooks, And your residue with fishing-hooks.
3 ૩ નગરની દીવાલના બાકોરામાંથી, તમે દરેક સ્ત્રીઓ સરળ રીતે નીકળી જશો, અને તમને હાર્મોનમાં ફેંકવામાં આવશે” એમ યહોવાહ કહે છે.
And ye shall go out at the breaches, every one right forward, And ye shall be thrown into a castle, saith Jehovah.
4 ૪ “બેથેલ આવીને પાપ કરો, અને ગિલ્ગાલમાં ઉલ્લંઘનો વધારતા જાઓ. રોજ સવારે તમારાં બલિદાન લાવો, અને ત્રણ ત્રણ દિવસે તમારાં દશાંશો લાવો.
Go, now, to Bethel, and transgress; At Gilgal multiply transgression! Bring your sacrifices every morning, And your tithes every three years!
5 ૫ ખમીરવાળી રોટલીનું ઉપકારાર્થાપણ કરો, અને ઐચ્છિકાર્પણોના ઢંઢેરો પિટાવી; જાહેરાત કરો, કેમ કે પ્રભુ યહોવાહ કહે છે કે, હે ઇઝરાયલ લોકો એવું તમને ગમે છે.
Burn a thank-offering from your extortions, And proclaim the free-will offerings; publish them abroad! For this is your delight, ye sons of Israel, Saith the Lord, Jehovah.
6 ૬ મેં પણ તમને તમારાં સર્વ નગરોમાં અન્ન અને દાંતને વેર કરાવ્યું છે. અને તમારાં સ્થાનોમાં રોટલીનો દુકાળ પાડ્યો. તેમ છતાં તમે મારી પાસે પાછા આવ્યા નહિ” એવું યહોવાહ કહે છે.
I also have caused cleanness of teeth in all your cities, And want of bread in all your places; And yet ye have not returned to me, saith Jehovah.
7 ૭ “હજી કાપણીને ત્રણ મહિનાનો સમય હતો, ત્યારથી મેં તમારે ત્યાં વરસાદ વરસતો અટકાવી દીધો. મેં એક નગરમાં વરસાદ વરસાવ્યો અને બીજા નગરમાં ન વરસાવ્યો. દેશના એક ભાગ પર વરસતો, અને બીજા ભાગમાં વરસાદ ન વરસતા તે ભાગ સુકાઈ જતો હતો.
I also have withholden from you the rain three months before the harvest; I have caused it to rain upon one city, And upon another city have I not caused it to rain; One piece of ground hath been rained upon, And another, upon which I have not caused it to rain, hath withered.
8 ૮ તેથી બે કે ત્રણ નગરોના લોકો લથડિયાં ખાતાં પાણી માટે બીજા એક નગરમાં ગયા. પણ ત્યાં તમે તરસ છિપાવી શક્યા નહિ. તેમ છતાં મારી પાસે તમે પાછા આવ્યા નહિ’ એવું યહોવાહ કહે છે.
Two or three cities have gone to one city, To drink water, and have not been satisfied; And yet ye have not returned to me, saith Jehovah.
9 ૯ “મેં તમારા પર ફૂગની તથા ઝાકળની આફત આણી. તમારા સંખ્યાબંધ બાગ, તમારા દ્રાક્ષવાડી, તમારાં અંજીરનાં વૃક્ષોને, અને તમારાં જૈતૂનનાં વૃક્ષોને, તીડો ખાઈ ગયાં છે. તોપણ તમે મારી તરફ પાછા ફર્યા નહિ” એવું યહોવાહ કહે છે.
I have smitten you with blasting and mildew; The locust hath devoured your many gardens, Your vineyards, your fig-trees, and your olive-trees; Yet have ye not returned to me, saith Jehovah.
10 ૧૦ “મેં મિસરની જેમ તમારા પર મરકી મોકલી છે. મેં તમારા જુવાનોને તલવારથી સંહાર કર્યો છે, અને તમારા ઘોડાઓનું હરણ કરાવ્યું છે. મેં તમારી છાવણીની દુર્ગંધ તમારાં નસકોરામાં ભરી છે, તોપણ તમે મારી પાસે પાછા આવ્યા નહિ’ એવું યહોવાહ કહે છે.
I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt; I have slain your young men with the sword, And your horses have I led into captivity; I have made the smell of your camps to come up into your nostrils; And yet ye have not returned to me, saith Jehovah.
11 ૧૧ “ઈશ્વરે સદોમ અને ગમોરાની પાયમાલી કરી, તેમ મેં તમારા કેટલાક પર ત્રાસદાયક આફતો મોકલી. તમે બળતામાંથી ખેંચી કાઢેલા ખોયણાના જેવા હતા, તેમ છતાં તમે મારી પાસે પાછા આવ્યા નહિ” એવું યહોવાહ કહે છે.
I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah; And ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning; And yet ye have not returned to me, saith Jehovah.
12 ૧૨ “એ માટે, હે ઇઝરાયલ; હું તને એ જ પ્રમાણે કરીશ, અને તેથી હું તને એમ જ કરીશ, માટે હે ઇઝરાયલ, તારા ઈશ્વરને મળવા તૈયાર થા!
Therefore thus will I deal with thee, O Israel! Yet since I will thus deal with thee, Prepare to meet thy God, O Israel!
13 ૧૩ માટે જો, જે પર્વતોને બનાવનાર છે તે જ વાયુનો સર્જનહાર છે. તે મનુષ્યના મનમાં શું છે તે પ્રગટ કરનાર, પ્રભાતને અંધકારમાં ફેરવી નાખનાર, અને જે પૃથ્વીના ઉચ્ચસ્થાનો પર ચાલનાર છે, તેમનું નામ સૈન્યોના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ છે.”
For behold, he formed the mountains, and created the wind; He declareth to man what is his thought; He maketh the morning darkness, And walketh upon the high places of the earth; Jehovah, God of hosts, is his name.
