પ્રેરિતોનાં કૃત્યો 21
1 ૧ એમ થયું કે, અમે તેઓનાથી જુદા થયા પછી વહાણ હંકારીને સીધે રસ્તે કોસ આવ્યા, અને બીજે દિવસે રોડેસ પછી ત્યાંથી પાતરા આવ્યા.
When it happened that we had parted from them and had set sail, we came with a straight course to Cos, and the next day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara.
Having found a ship crossing over to Phoenicia, we went aboard, and set sail.
3 ૩ પછી સાયપ્રસ (ટાપુ) નજરે પડ્યો, એટલે તેને ડાબી તરફ મૂકીને અમે સિરિયા ગયા, અને તૂર ઊતર્યા; કેમ કે ત્યાં વહાણનો માલ ઉતારવાનો હતો.
When we had come in sight of Cyprus, leaving it on the left hand, we sailed to Syria, and landed at Tsur, for there the ship was to unload her cargo.
4 ૪ અમને શિષ્યો મળી આવ્યા. તેથી અમે સાત દિવસ ત્યાં રહ્યા; તેઓએ પવિત્ર આત્મા (ની પ્રેરણા) થી પાઉલને કહ્યું કે, ‘તારે યરુશાલેમમાં પગ મૂકવો નહિ.’”
Having found the disciples, we stayed there seven days. These said to Paul through the Rukha, that he should not go up to Urishlim.
5 ૫ તે દિવસો પૂરા થયા પછી એમ થયું કે અમે નીકળીને આગળ ચાલ્યા, ત્યારે તેઓ સર્વ, સ્ત્રી છોકરાં સહિત, શહેરની બહાર સુધી અમને વિદાય આપવાને આવ્યા; અમે સમુદ્રકાંઠે ઘૂંટણે પાડીને પ્રાર્થના કરી,
When it happened that we had accomplished the days, we departed and went on our journey. They all, with wives and children, brought us on our way until we were out of the city. And after kneeling down on the beach and praying,
we said farewell to one another. And we went on board the ship, and they returned to their own.
When we had finished the voyage from Tsur, we arrived at Ptolemais. We greeted the brothers, and stayed with them one day.
8 ૮ બીજે દિવસે અમે (ત્યાંથી) નીકળીને કાઈસારિયામાં આવ્યા, સુવાર્તિક ફિલિપ જે સાત (સેવકો) માંનો એક હતો તેને ઘરે જઈને તેની સાથે રહ્યા.
On the next day, we departed and came to Qesarya. We entered into the house of Philipus the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him.
Now this man had four virgin daughters who prophesied.
As we stayed there some days, a certain prophet named Agavus came down from Yehuda.
11 ૧૧ તેણે અમારી પાસે આવીને પાઉલનો કમરબંધ લીધો, અને પોતાના હાથ પગ બાંધીને કહ્યું કે, ‘પવિત્ર આત્મા એમ કહે છે કે, ‘જે માણસનો આ કમરબંધ છે તેને યરુશાલેમમાંના યહૂદીઓ આવી રીતે બાંધીને બિનયહૂદીઓના હાથમાં સોંપશે.’”
Coming to us, and taking Paul's belt, he bound his own feet and hands, and said, "Thus says the Rukha d'Qudsha: 'So will the Jews in Urishlim bind the man who owns this belt, and will deliver him into the hands of non-Jewish people.'"
When we heard these things, both we and the people of that place urged him not to go up to Urishlim.
13 ૧૩ ત્યારે પાઉલે ઉત્તર દીધો કે, તમે શા માટે રડો છો, અને મારું દિલ દુ: ખવો છો? હું તો એકલો બંધાવાને નહિ, પણ પ્રભુ ઈસુના નામને સારુ યરુશાલેમમાં મરવાને પણ તૈયાર છું.
Then Paul answered, "What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Urishlim for the name of the Lord Yeshua."
When he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, "The Lord's will be done."
After these days we took up our baggage and went up to Urishlim.
16 ૧૬ શિષ્યોમાંના કેટલાક કાઈસારિયામાંથી અમારી સાથે આવ્યા, અને સાયપ્રસના મનાસોન નામના એક જૂના શિષ્યના ઘરે, જ્યાં અમારે રોકવાનું હતું, તેને ત્યાં તેઓએ અમને પહોંચાડ્યા.
Some of the disciples from Qesarya also went with us, bringing one Mnason of Cyprus, an early disciple, with whom we would stay.
When we had come to Urishlim, the brothers received us gladly.
The day following, Paul went in with us to Yaquv; and all the elders were present.
19 ૧૯ તેણે તેઓને ભેટીને ઈશ્વરે તેની સેવા વડે બિનયહૂદીઓમાં જે કામ કરાવ્યા હતા તે વિષે વિગતવાર કહી સંભળાવ્યું.
When he had greeted them, he reported one by one the things which God had worked among the non-Jewish people through his ministry.
20 ૨૦ તેઓએ તે સાંભળીને ઈશ્વરની સ્તુતિ કરતા કહ્યું કે, ભાઈ, યહૂદીઓમાંના હજારો વિશ્વાસીઓ થયા છે, એ તુ જુએ છે; અને તેઓ સર્વ ચુસ્ત રીતે નિયમશાસ્ત્રને પાળે છે.
They, when they heard it, glorified God. They said to him, "You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the Law.
21 ૨૧ તેઓએ તારા વિષે સાંભળ્યું છે કે, તું મૂસાના નિયમશાસ્ત્રનો તથા યહૂદી રીતરિવાજોનો વિરોધી છે. બિનયહૂદીઓમાં વસતા યહૂદી વિશ્વાસીઓના છોકરાંનીઓની સુન્નત કરાવવી નહિ, પૂર્વજોના રીતરિવાજ પ્રમાણે ચાલવું નહિ, એવું તું શીખવે છે.
They have been informed about you, that you teach all the Jews who are among the non-Jews to forsake Mushe, telling them not to circumcise their children neither to walk after the customs.
What then? The multitude must certainly meet. They will hear that you have come.
Therefore do what we tell you. We have four men who have taken a vow.
24 ૨૪ તેઓને લઈને તેઓની સાથે તું પણ પોતાને શુદ્ધ કર, અને તેઓને સારુ ખર્ચ કર, કે તેઓ પોતાના માથાં મૂંડાવે; એટલે સઘળા જાણશે કે, તારા વિષે જે તેઓએ સાંભળ્યું છે તેમાં કંઈ સાચું નથી, પરંતુ તું પોતે પણ નિયમશાસ્ત્ર પાળીને તે પ્રમાણે ચાલે છે.
Take them, and purify yourself with them, and pay their expenses for them, that they may shave their heads. Then all will know that there is no truth in the things that they have been informed about you, but that you yourself also walk keeping the Law.
25 ૨૫ પણ બિનયહૂદી વિશ્વાસીઓ સંબંધી અમે ઠરાવીને લખી મોકલ્યું છે કે, તેઓ મૂર્તિઓને અર્પણ કરેલી વસ્તુઓથી, લોહીથી, ગૂંગળાવીને મારેલાથી, તથા વ્યભિચારથી દૂર રહે.’”
But concerning the non-Jewish who believe, we have written our decision that they should keep themselves from food offered to idols, from blood, from strangled things, and from sexual immorality."
26 ૨૬ ત્યારે પાઉલ બીજે દિવસે તે માણસોને લઈને તેઓની સાથે શુદ્ધ થઈને ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં ગયો. અને એવું જાહેર કર્યું કે તેઓમાંના દરેકને સારુ અર્પણ ચઢાવવામાં આવશે ત્યારે જ શુધ્ધીકરણના દિવસો પૂરા થશે.
Then Paul took the men, and the next day, purified himself and went with them into the temple, declaring the fulfillment of the days of purification, until the offering was offered for every one of them.
27 ૨૭ તે સાત દિવસ પૂરા થવા આવ્યા ત્યારે આસિયાના યહૂદીઓએ તેને ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં જોઈને સર્વ લોકોને ઉશ્કેરીને તેના પર હાથ નાખીને તેને પકડી લીધો;
When the seven days were almost completed, the Jews from Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the crowd and laid hands on him,
28 ૨૮ તેઓએ બૂમ પાડી કે, ‘હે ઇઝરાયલી માણસો, સહાય કરો: જે માણસ સર્વ જગ્યાએ લોકોની તથા નિયમશાસ્ત્રની તથા આ જગ્યાની વિરુદ્ધ સર્વને શીખવે છે તે આ છે; વળી તેણે ગ્રીકોને પણ ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં લાવીને આ પવિત્ર જગ્યાને અશુદ્ધ કરી છે.
crying out, "Men of Israyel, help. This is the man who teaches all men everywhere against the people, and the Law, and this place. Moreover, he also brought Greeks into the temple, and has defiled this holy place."
29 ૨૯ (કેમ કે તેઓએ એફેસસના ત્રોફીમસને તેની સાથે શહેરમાં પહેલાં જોયો હતો, પાઉલ તેને ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં લાવ્યો હશે એવું તેઓએ માન્યું.)
For they had previously seen Trophimus, the Ephesian, with him in the city, and they supposed that Paul had brought him into the temple.
30 ૩૦ ત્યારે આખા શહેરમાં ધમાલ મચી ગઈ, લોકો દોડીને એકઠા થઈ ગયા, અને તેઓએ પાઉલને પકડીને ભક્તિસ્થાનમાંથી બહાર કાઢી મૂક્યો, અને તરત બારણાં બંધ કરવામાં આવ્યાં.
All the city was moved, and the people ran together. They seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple. Immediately the doors were shut.
31 ૩૧ તેઓ તેને મારી નાખવાની તૈયારીમાં હતા એટલામાં પલટણના આગેવાનને સમાચાર મળ્યા કે, આખા યરુશાલેમમાં હુલ્લડ મચી રહ્યું છે.
As they were trying to kill him, news came up to the commanding officer of the regiment that all Urishlim was in an uproar.
32 ૩૨ ત્યારે સિપાઈઓને તથા શતપતિઓને સાથે લઈને તે તેઓ પાસે દોડી આવ્યો, અને તેઓએ સરદારને તથા સિપાઈઓને જોયા ત્યારે પાઉલને મારવાનું બંધ કર્યું.
Immediately he took soldiers and centurions, and ran down to them. They, when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, stopped beating Paul.
33 ૩૩ ત્યારે સરદારે પાસે આવીને તેને પકડીને બે સાંકળથી બાંધવાની આજ્ઞા આપી; અને પૂછ્યું કે, ‘એ કોણ છે, અને એણે શું કર્યું છે?’
Then the commanding officer came near, arrested him, commanded him to be bound with two chains, and inquired who he was and what he had done.
34 ૩૪ ત્યારે લોકોમાંના કેટલાકે એક વાત કરી અને કેટલાકે બીજી વાત કરી, તેથી ગડબડના કારણથી તે ચોક્કસ જાણી શક્યો નહિ, ત્યારે તેણે તેને કિલ્લામાં લઈ જવાની આજ્ઞા આપી.
Some shouted one thing, and some another, among the crowd. When he could not find out the truth because of the noise, he commanded him to be brought into the barracks.
When he came to the stairs, it happened that he was carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the crowd;
for the crowd of the people followed after, crying out, "Away with him."
37 ૩૭ તેઓ પાઉલને કિલ્લામાં લઈ જતા હતા, એટલામાં તેણે સરદારને કહ્યું કે, ‘મને તારી સાથે બોલવાની રજા છે?’ ત્યારે તેણે કહ્યું કે, શું તું ગ્રીક ભાષા જાણે છે?
As Paul was about to be brought into the barracks, he asked the commanding officer, "May I speak something to you?" He said, "Do you know Greek?
38 ૩૮ મિસરીએ કેટલાક સમય ઉપર ચાર હજાર ખૂનીઓને ઉશ્કેરીને બળવો કરાવ્યો અને તેઓનો (આગેવાન થઈને) તેઓને બહાર અરણ્યમાં લઈ ગયો તે શું તું નથી?’
Are you not then the Egyptian, who before these days stirred up to sedition and led out into the wilderness the four thousand men of the Assassins?"
39 ૩૯ પણ પાઉલે કહ્યું કે, ‘હું કિલીકિયાના તાર્સસનો યહૂદી છું, હું કંઈ અપ્રસિદ્ધ શહેરનો વતની નથી; હું તને વિનંતી કરું છું કે, લોકોની આગળ મને બોલવાની રજા આપ.’”
But Paul said, "I am a Jew, from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no insignificant city. I beg you, allow me to speak to the people."
40 ૪૦ તેણે તેને રજા આપી, ત્યારે પાઉલે પગથિયાં પર ઊભા રહીને લોકોને હાથે ઇશારો કર્યો, તેઓ બધા એકદમ શાંત થઈ ગયા, ત્યારે તેણે હિબ્રૂ ભાષામાં બોલતાં કહ્યું કે.
When he had given him permission, Paul, standing on the stairs, beckoned with his hand to the people. When there was a great silence, he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, saying,
