2 રાજઓ 17
1 ૧ યહૂદિયાના રાજા આહાઝના કારકિર્દીને બારમા વર્ષે એલાનો દીકરો હોશિયા સમરુનમાં ઇઝરાયલ પર રાજ કરવા લાગ્યો. તેણે નવ વર્ષ રાજ કર્યુ.
In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.
2 ૨ તેણે યહોવાહની દ્રષ્ટિમાં જે ખોટું હતું તે કર્યું, તોપણ તેની પહેલાં થઈ ગયેલા ઇઝરાયલના રાજાઓ જેવું નહિ.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.
Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.
4 ૪ પણ આશ્શૂરના રાજાને પોતાની વિરુદ્ધ હોશિયાનું ષડયંત્ર સમજાયું, કેમ કે, તેણે મિસરના સો નામના રાજાની પાસે સંદેશાવાહકો મોકલ્યા હતા. દર વર્ષની જેમ હોશિયાએ આશ્શૂરના રાજાને ખંડણી ભરી ન હતી. તેથી આશ્શૂરના રાજાએ તેને કેદ કરીને બંદીખાનામાં નાખ્યો.
And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.
Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.
6 ૬ હોશિયાને કારકિર્દીને નવમે વર્ષે આશ્શૂરના રાજાએ સમરુન જીતી લીધું, તે આશ્શૂરમાં ઇઝરાયલીઓને લઈ આવ્યો. તેણે તેમને હલાહમાં, ગોઝાન નદી પર આવેલા હાબોરમાં તથા માદીઓના નગરમાં રાખ્યા.
In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
7 ૭ આમ થવાનું કારણ એ હતું કે, ઇઝરાયલના લોકોએ તેઓને મિસરના રાજા ફારુનના હાથ નીચેથી છોડાવી મિસર દેશમાંથી બહાર કાઢી લાવનાર પોતાના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ વિરુદ્ધ પાપ કર્યું હતું. લોકોએ બીજા દેવોની સેવા કરી હતી.
For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,
8 ૮ અને જે પ્રજાઓને યહોવાહે કાઢી મૂકી હતી તે પ્રજાઓના વિધિઓ પ્રમાણે તથા ઇઝરાયલના રાજાઓએ કરેલા વિધિઓ પ્રમાણે તેઓ ચાલ્યા.
And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.
9 ૯ ઇઝરાયલી લોકોએ ઈશ્વર યહોવાહની વિરુદ્ધ જે સારા ન હતાં તેવાં કામ ગુપ્ત રીતે કર્યાં. તેઓએ પોતાનાં બધાં નગરોમાં, ચોકીદારોના કિલ્લાથી તે કોટવાળા નગર સુધી ઉચ્ચસ્થાનો બાંધ્યાં.
And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:
11 ૧૧ યહોવાહે જે પ્રજાઓને તેની આગળથી કાઢી મૂકી હતી, તે લોકોની જેમ ત્યાં તેઓ બધાં ઉચ્ચસ્થાનો પર ધૂપ બાળતા હતા. ઇઝરાયલીઓ દુષ્ટ કામો કરીને યહોવાહને ગુસ્સે કરતા હતા;
And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and worked wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger:
For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said to them, You shall not do this thing.
13 ૧૩ તેમ છતાં યહોવાહે ઇઝરાયલને અને યહૂદિયાને દરેક પ્રબોધક અને દરેક દ્રષ્ટા દ્વારા જાહેર કર્યું હતું કે, “તમારા દુષ્ટ માર્ગોથી પાછા ફરો, જે નિયમશાસ્ત્ર મેં તમારા પિતૃઓને ફરમાવ્યું હતું, જે મેં મારા સેવક પ્રબોધકો દ્વારા તમારી પાસે મોકલ્યું હતું, તે પ્રમાણે મારી આજ્ઞાઓ તથા વિધિઓ તમે પાળો.”
Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn you from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.
14 ૧૪ પણ તેઓએ યહોવાહનું સાંભળ્યું નહિ; પણ તેઓના જે પિતૃઓ પોતાના ઈશ્વર પર ભરોસો રાખતા નહોતા, તેઓના જેવા તેઓ વધારે હઠીલા થઈ ગયા હતા.
Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.
15 ૧૫ તેઓએ તેઓના પિતૃઓ સાથે કરેલા યહોવાહના વિધિઓ અને કરારનો, તેમ જ યહોવાહે તેઓને આપેલા સાક્ષ્યોનો ત્યાગ કર્યો હતો. તેઓ વ્યર્થ બાબતોની પાછળ ચાલીને નકામા થઈ ગયા. તેઓની આસપાસ રહેનાર પ્રજાઓ કે જેઓના વિષે યહોવાહે ફરમાવ્યું હતું કે તેઓનું અનુકરણ ન કરવું, પણ તેઓએ તેઓનું અનુકરણ કર્યું.
And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.
16 ૧૬ તેઓએ પોતાના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહની આજ્ઞાઓનો ત્યાગ કર્યો. પોતાના માટે વાછરડાના આકારની ધાતુની બે મૂર્તિઓ બનાવી. તેઓએ અશેરાદેવીની મૂર્તિ બનાવી, આકાશના બધાં જ્યોતિમંડળની અને બઆલની પૂજા કરી હતી.
And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.
17 ૧૭ તેઓએ પોતાના દીકરા અને દીકરીઓનાં બલિદાન અગ્નિમાં દહનીયાપર્ણની માફક આપ્યાં હતાં. તેઓ શકુનવિદ્યા અને તંત્રમંત્રનો ઉપયોગ કરતા હતા. યહોવાહની દ્રષ્ટિમાં જે ખોટું હતું તે કરવા માટે પોતાને વેચીને યહોવાહને ગુસ્સે કર્યા હતા.
And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
18 ૧૮ તે માટે યહોવાહે અતિશય કોપાયમાન થઈને ઇઝરાયલને પોતાની દ્રષ્ટિ આગળથી દૂર કર્યા. ફક્ત યહૂદિયાના કુળ સિવાય બીજું કોઈ ત્યાં રહ્યું નહિ.
Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.
19 ૧૯ યહૂદિયાએ પણ પોતાના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહની આજ્ઞાઓ પાળી નહિ, પણ ઇઝરાયલના બનાવેલા વિધિઓ પ્રમાણે તેઓ ચાલ્યા.
Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.
20 ૨૦ તેથી યહોવાહે ઇઝરાયલના બધા વંશજોનો ત્યાગ કર્યો, તેઓના પર દુઃખ લાવ્યા, તેઓને લૂંટારાઓના હાથમાં સોંપી દીધા અને તેમને પોતાની દ્રષ્ટિ આગળથી દૂર કર્યા.
And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.
21 ૨૧ જયારે યહોવાહે ઇઝરાયલીઓને દાઉદના કુળમાંથી વિભાજિત કરીને છૂટા પાડ્યા, ત્યારે તેઓએ નબાટના દીકરા યરોબામને રાજા બનાવ્યો. યરોબામે ઇઝરાયલ પાસે યહોવાહનો ત્યાગ કરાવીને મોટું પાપ કરાવ્યું.
For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drove Israel from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin.
22 ૨૨ ઇઝરાયલી લોકો યરોબામે જે બધાં પાપો કર્યાં હતાં તે પ્રમાણે ચાલ્યા. તેઓએ તે પાપો કરવાનું છોડ્યું નહિ.
For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;
23 ૨૩ માટે યહોવાહે તેઓના બધા સેવક પ્રબોધકો દ્વારા જે કહ્યું હતું તે પ્રમાણે ઇઝરાયલને પોતાની દ્રષ્ટિ આગળથી દૂર કર્યા. એમ ઇઝરાયલને તેઓના પોતાના દેશમાંથી આશ્શૂરમાં લઈ જવામાં આવ્યા, આજ સુધી તેઓ ત્યાં જ છે.
Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria to this day.
24 ૨૪ આશ્શૂરના રાજાએ બાબિલ, કુથા, આવ્વા, હમાથ તથા સફાર્વાઈમમાંથી લોકોને લાવીને ઇઝરાયલી લોકોની જગ્યાએ સમરુનનાં નગરોમાં વસાવ્યા. આથી તેઓએ સમરુનનો કબજો લીધો. અને તેઓ તેનાં નગરોમાં રહ્યા.
And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelled in the cities thereof.
25 ૨૫ ત્યાં તેઓના વસવાટની શરૂઆતમાં એવું બન્યું કે તેઓએ યહોવાહની આરાધના કરી ન હતી. તેથી યહોવાહે તેઓની મધ્યે સિંહ મોકલ્યા. સિંહોએ તેઓમાંના કેટલાકને મારી નાખ્યા.
And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them.
26 ૨૬ માટે તેઓએ આશ્શૂરના રાજાને કહેવડાવ્યું કે, “જે પ્રજાઓને લઈ જઈને તમે સમરુનના નગરોમાં વસાવી છે, તેઓ તે દેશના દેવના વિધિઓ જાણતા નથી. આથી તેઓએ તેઓની વચ્ચે સિંહો મોકલ્યા છે, જુઓ સિંહો લોકોને મારી નાખે છે, કેમ કે, એ લોકો તે દેશના દેવના વિધિઓ જાણતા ન હતા.”
Why they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which you have removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he has sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.
27 ૨૭ ત્યારે આશ્શૂરના રાજાએ આજ્ઞા કરી કે, “જે યાજકો તમે ત્યાંથી લાવ્યા હતા તેઓમાંથી એકને ત્યાં લઈ જાઓ, જેથી તેઓ ત્યાં જઈને રહે અને તેઓને તે દેશના દેવની રીત શીખવે.”
Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom you brought from there; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.
28 ૨૮ તેથી જે યાજકોને તેઓ સમરુનમાંથી લઈ આવ્યા હતા, તેઓમાંથી એક યાજક આવીને બેથેલમાં રહ્યો, તેણે તેઓને કેવી રીતે યહોવાહની આરાધના કરવી તે શીખવ્યું.
Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelled in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.
29 ૨૯ દરેક પ્રજાના લોકોએ પોતપોતાના દેવો બનાવીને તેઓ જયાં રહેતા હતા તે નગરમાં, ત્યાં સમરુનીઓએ બનાવેલા ઉચ્ચસ્થાનોમાં તેઓને મૂક્યા.
However, every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelled.
30 ૩૦ બાબિલના લોકોએ સુક્કોથ-બનોથ નામે મૂર્તિ બનાવી; કુથના લોકોએ નેર્ગાલ નામે મૂર્તિ બનાવી; હમાથના લોકોએ અશીમા નામે મૂર્તિ બનાવી;
And the men of Babylon made Succothbenoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,
31 ૩૧ આવ્વીના લોકોએ નિબ્હાઝ અને તાંર્તાક નામે મૂર્તિ બનાવી, સફાર્વીઓએ પોતાના બાળકનું સફાર્વાઈમના દેવ આદ્રામ્મેલેખ અને અનામ્મેલેખની આગળ દહનીયાપર્ણ કર્યું.
And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.
32 ૩૨ એમ તેઓ યહોવાહનું ભય રાખતા હતા, તેઓ પોતાનામાંથી ઉચ્ચસ્થાનોના યાજક નિયુકત કરતા, જે તેઓના માટે ઉચ્ચસ્થાનોના સભાસ્થાનોમાં યજ્ઞ કરતા.
So they feared the LORD, and made to themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.
33 ૩૩ તેઓ યહોવાહનું ભય રાખતા હતા અને જે દેશમાંથી તેઓને લઈ આવવામાં આવ્યા તેઓના વિધિ પ્રમાણે પોતાના દેવોની પણ પૂજા કરતા હતા.
They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from there.
34 ૩૪ આજ દિવસ સુધી તે લોકો આ જ રીત પ્રમાણે કરે છે. તેઓ યહોવાહનું ભય રાખતા નથી, કે તેઓ પોતાના વિધિઓ, હુકમો, નિયમ તથા આજ્ઞાઓ યહોવાહે યાકૂબના લોકોને આપ્યાં તે પ્રમાણે તેઓ વર્તતા નથી. જેનું નામ તેમણે ઇઝરાયલ પાડ્યું તે પ્રમાણે તેઓ વર્તતા નથી.
To this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;
35 ૩૫ યહોવાહે તેઓની સાથે કરાર કર્યો હતો અને તેઓને આજ્ઞા આપી હતી, “તમારે બીજા દેવોનો ડર રાખવો નહિ, તેઓને નમવું નહિ, તેમની પૂજા કરવી નહિ, તેમને યજ્ઞો કરવા નહિ.
With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, You shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:
36 ૩૬ પણ યહોવાહ કે જે તમને પોતાની મહાન શક્તિથી તથા લંબાવેલા હાથથી મિસર દેશમાંથી બહાર લાવ્યા, તેમનો જ ભય રાખવો, તેમને જ તમારે નમવું અને તેમને જ તમારે યજ્ઞ કરવા.
But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall you fear, and him shall you worship, and to him shall you do sacrifice.
37 ૩૭ જે વિધિઓ, કાનૂનો, નિયમ તથા આજ્ઞા યહોવાહે તમારે માટે લખ્યાં, તેનું તમારે સદાકાળ પાલન કરવું. તમે બીજા દેવોથી ડરશો નહિ,
And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, you shall observe to do for ever more; and you shall not fear other gods.
And the covenant that I have made with you you shall not forget; neither shall you fear other gods.
But the LORD your God you shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.
However, they did not listen, but they did after their former manner.
41 ૪૧ આમ, તે લોકો યહોવાહનું ભય રાખતા અને પોતાની કોતરેલી મૂર્તિઓની પણ પૂજા કરતા હતા, તેઓનાં સંતાનો તેમ જ તેઓનાં સંતાનોનાં સંતાનો પણ, જેમ તેઓના પિતૃઓ કરતા હતા તેમ, આજ દિવસ સુધી કરે છે.
So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they to this day.
