2 રાજઓ 11
1 ૧ હવે અહાઝયાહની માતા અથાલ્યાએ જોયું કે તેનો દીકરો મરણ પામ્યો છે, ત્યારે તેણે ઊઠીને બધા રાજપુત્રોને મારી નાખ્યા.
Then Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah when she saw that her sonne was dead, she arose, and destroyed all the Kings seede.
2 ૨ પણ યોરામ રાજાની દીકરી તથા અહાઝયાહની બહેન યહોશેબાએ અહાઝયાહના એક દીકરા યોઆશને રાજાના જે દીકરાઓ માર્યા ગયા હતા તેઓ મધ્યેથી લઈને તેને તથા તેની દાસીને શયનખંડમાં પૂરી દીધાં. તેઓએ તેને અથાલ્યાથી સંતાડ્યો કે જેથી તે તેને મારી નાખે નહિ.
But Iehosheba the daughter of King Ioram, and sister to Ahaziah tooke Ioash the sonne of Ahaziah, and stale him from among the Kings sonnes that shoulde be slaine, both him and his nource, keeping them in the bed chaber, and they hid him from Athaliah, so that he was not slaine.
3 ૩ તે યહોશેબાની સાથે છ વર્ષ સુધી યહોવાહના ઘરમાં સંતાઈ રહ્યો તે દરમિયાન અથાલ્યા દેશ પર રાજ કરતી રહી.
And he was with her hid in the house of the Lord sixe yeere: and Athaliah did reigne ouer the land.
4 ૪ સાતમે વર્ષે યહોયાદાએ સંદેશાવાહકો મોકલીને કારીઓના નાયકોના સરદારોના શતાધિપતિઓને તથા રક્ષકોને યહોવાહના ઘરમાં પોતાની પાસે બોલાવ્યા. તેણે યહોવાહના ઘરમાં તેઓની સાથે કરાર કર્યો અને સમ ખવડાવ્યા. પછી તેણે તેઓને રાજાનો દીકરો બતાવ્યો.
And the seuenth yeere Iehoiada sent and tooke the captaines ouer hundreths, with other captaines and them of the garde, and caused them to come vnto him into the house of the Lord, and made a couenant with them, and tooke an othe of them in the house of the Lord, and shewed them the Kings sonne.
5 ૫ તેણે તેઓને આજ્ઞા કરીને કહ્યું, “આ કામ તમારે કરવું. તમે જે વિશ્રામવારે અંદર આવો, તેઓમાંના ત્રીજા ભાગના લોકોએ રાજાના મહેલની ચોકી કરવી,
And he commanded them, saying, This is it that ye must doe, The third part of you, that commeth on the Sabbath, shall warde towarde the Kings house:
And another third part in the gate of Sur: and another thirde part in the gate behinde them of the garde: and ye shall keepe watche in the house of Massah.
And two parts of you, that is, all that goe out on the Sabbath day, shall keepe the watch of the house of the Lord about the King.
8 ૮ દરેક માણસે પોતાના હાથમાં હથિયાર રાખીને રાજાની આસપાસ ગોઠવાઈને ઊભા રહેવું. જે કોઈ તમારી હારની અંદર પ્રવેશે તેને મારી નાખવો. રાજા બહાર જાય ત્યારે અને અંદર આવે ત્યારે તમારે તેની સાથે જ રહેવું.
And ye shall compasse the King rounde about, euery man with his weapon in his hande, and whosoeuer commeth within the ranges, let him be slayne: be you with the King, as he goeth out and in.
9 ૯ તેથી યહોયાદા યાજકે જે આજ્ઞા કરી તે પ્રમાણે સરદારોના શતાધિપતિઓએ કર્યું. દરેક માણસે વિશ્રામવારે કામ કરતા તથા વિશ્રામવારે કામ ન કરતા પોતાના બધા માણસોને એકત્ર કર્યા અને તેઓને લઈને તેઓ યાજક યહોયાદા પાસે આવ્યા.
And the captaines of the hundreths did according to all that Iehoiada the Priest commaded, and they tooke euery man his men that entred in to their charge on the Sabbath with them that went out of it on the Sabbath, and came to Iehoiada the Priest.
And the Priest gaue to the captaines of hundreths the speares and the shieldes that were King Dauids, and were in the house of the Lord.
11 ૧૧ તેથી દરેક રક્ષક સિપાઈ પોતાના હાથમાં હથિયાર લઈને સભાસ્થાનની જમણી બાજુથી તે સભાસ્થાનની ડાબી બાજુ સુધી, વેદી તથા સભાસ્થાન આગળ રાજાની આસપાસ ચોકી કરતા હતા.
And the garde stoode, euery man with his weapon in his hande, from the right side of the house to the left side, about the altar and about the house, round about the King.
12 ૧૨ પછી યહોયાદાએ રાજપુત્ર યોઆશને બહાર લાવીને તેના માથા પર રાજમુગટ મૂક્યો તથા કરારનું હુકમનામું આપ્યું. પછી તેઓએ તેનો રાજા તરીકે અભિષેક કર્યો. તેઓએ તાળીઓ પાડીને કહ્યું, “રાજા ઘણું જીવો!”
Then he brought out the Kings sonne, and put the crowne vpon him and gaue him the Testimonie, and they made him King: also they anoynted him, and clapt their handes, and sayde, God saue the King.
And when Athaliah heard the noyse of the running of the people, shee came in to the people in the house of the Lord.
14 ૧૪ તેણે જોયું તો, જુઓ, રિવાજ પ્રમાણે રાજા તેના પાયાસન પર ઊભો હતો. સરદારો તથા રણશિંગડાં વગાડનારા રાજાની પાસે ઊભા હતા. દેશના બધા લોકો આનંદ કરતા અને રણશિંગડાં વગાડતા હતા. ત્યારે અથાલ્યાએ પોતાનાં વસ્ત્ર ફાડીને જોરથી બૂમ પાડી, “રાજદ્રોહ! રાજદ્રોહ!”
And when shee looked, beholde, the King stoode by a pillar, as the maner was, and the princes and the trumpetters by the King, and al the people of the land reioyced, and blew with trumpets. Then Athaliah rent her clothes, and cryed, Treason, treason.
15 ૧૫ યાજક યહોયાદાએ સૈન્યના ઉપરી શતાધિપતિઓને આજ્ઞા કરીને કહ્યું, “તેને બહાર કાઢો. અને સિપાઈઓની હરોળોની વચ્ચે લાવો. જે કોઈ તેની પાછળ આવે તેને તલવારથી મારી નાખો.” કેમ કે યાજકે કહ્યું, “તેને યહોવાહના ઘરમાં મારી નાખવી નહિ.”
But Iehoiada the Priest commanded the captaines of the hundreths that had the rule of the hoste, and sayde vnto them, Haue her forth of the ranges, and he that followeth her, let him die by the sworde: for the Priest had sayd, Let her not be slaine in the house of the Lord.
16 ૧૬ તેથી તેઓએ અથાલ્યાને માટે રસ્તો કર્યો, તે ઘોડાને અંદર આવવાના માર્ગેથી રાજમહેલ આગળ ગઈ. ત્યાં તેને મારી નાખવામાં આવી.
Then they laid hands on her, and she went by the way, by the which the horses goe to the house of the King, and there was she slaine.
17 ૧૭ યહોયાદાએ યહોવાહ અને રાજા યોઆશ તથા લોકોની વચ્ચે કરાર કર્યો કે, તેઓએ યહોવાહના લોક થવું, તેણે રાજા અને લોકો વચ્ચે પણ કરાર કર્યો.
And Iehoiada made a couenant betweene the Lord, and the King and the people, that they should be the Lordes people: likewise betweene the King and the people.
18 ૧૮ પછી દેશના બધા લોકો બઆલના મંદિરે ગયા અને તેને તોડી નાખ્યું. તેઓએ તેની વેદીઓ તથા મૂર્તિઓના ટુકડે ટુકડાં કરી નાખ્યા. બઆલના યાજક માત્તાનને વેદીઓ આગળ મારી નાખ્યો. પછી યાજકે યહોવાહના સભાસ્થાનનું રક્ષણ કરવા માટે ચોકીદારો નીમ્યા.
Then all the people of the lande went into the house of Baal, and destroyed it with his altars, and his images brake they downe courageously, and slewe Mattan the Priest of Baal before the altars: and the Priest set a garde ouer the house of the Lord.
19 ૧૯ યહોયાદાએ કારીઓના શતાધિપતિઓને, નાયકને, ચોકીદારોને તથા દેશના બધા લોકોને સાથે લીધા. તેઓ રાજાને યહોવાહના સભાસ્થાનમાંથી લઈને ચોકીદારોના દરવાજે થઈને રાજમહેલમાં આવ્યા. અને યોઆશને રાજાના સિંહાસન પર બેસાડયો.
Then he tooke the captaines of hudreths, and the other captaines, and the garde, and all the people of the lande: and they brought the King from the house of the Lord, and came by the way of the gate of the garde to the Kings house: and he sate him downe on the throne of the Kings.
20 ૨૦ તેથી દેશના સર્વ લોકોએ આનંદ કર્યો અને નગરમાં શાંતિ થઈ. તેઓએ અથાલ્યાને રાજમહેલમાં તલવારથી મારી નાખી.
And all the people of the land reioyced, and the citie was in quiet: for they had slaine Athaliah with the sworde beside the Kings house.
Seuen yeere olde was Iehoash when he began to reigne.
