2 કાળવ્રત્તાંત 1
1 ૧ દાઉદનો દીકરો સુલેમાન પોતાના રાજ્યમાં પરાક્રમી થયો કારણ કે તેના પ્રભુ ઈશ્વર તેની સાથે હતા અને તેમણે તેને ઘણો સામર્થ્યવાન બનાવ્યો હતો.
And Solomon the son of David strengthened himself in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and caused him to become exceedingly great.
2 ૨ સુલેમાને સર્વ ઇઝરાયલને, સહસ્રાધિપતિઓને, શતાધિપતિઓને, ન્યાયાધીશોને, ઇઝરાયલના દરેક રાજકુમારોને તથા કુટુંબનાં મુખ્ય વડીલોને આજ્ઞા કરી.
Then said Solomon unto all Israel, to the captains of the thousands and of the hundreds, and to the judges, and to every prince in all Israel, the chiefs of the family divisions [that they should go with him].
3 ૩ પછી સુલેમાન પોતાની સાથે સમગ્ર પ્રજાને લઈને ગિબ્યોનના ઉચ્ચસ્થાનમાં ગયો; કેમ કે ત્યાં ઈશ્વરનો મુલાકાતમંડપ હતો, એ મુલાકાતમંડપ મૂસા અને ઈશ્વરના સેવકોએ અરણ્યમાં બનાવેલો હતો.
Thereupon went Solomon, and all the assembly with him, to the high-place that was at Gib'on; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness.
4 ૪ દાઉદ ઈશ્વરના કરારકોશને કિર્યાથ-યારીમથી યરુશાલેમમાં લાવ્યો હતો, ત્યાં તેણે તેને માટે તંબુ તૈયાર કર્યો હતો.
Nevertheless the ark of God had David brought up from Kiryath-ye'arim to [the place which] David had prepared for it; for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
5 ૫ આ ઉપરાંત, હૂરના દીકરા, ઉરીના દીકરા, બસાલેલે પિત્તળની જે વેદી બનાવી હતી, તે ત્યાં ઈશ્વરના મંડપની આગળ હતી; સુલેમાન તથા આખી સભા ત્યાં ગયા.
But the copper altar, which Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Chur, had made, he placed before the tabernacle of the Lord: and Solomon and the assembly sought for it.
6 ૬ મુલાકાતમંડપમાં ઈશ્વરની આગળ જે પિત્તળની વેદી હતી, ત્યાં સુલેમાન ગયો. અને તેના પર એક હજાર દહનીયાર્પણો ચઢાવ્યાં.
And Solomon sacrificed there on the copper altar before the Lord, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered upon it a thousand burnt-offerings.
In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
8 ૮ સુલેમાને ઈશ્વરને કહ્યું, “તમે મારા પિતા દાઉદ પ્રત્યે ઘણાં વિશ્વાસુ રહ્યા હતા. અને તેની જગ્યાએ મને રાજા બનાવ્યો છે.
And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shown unto David my father great kindness, and hast made me king in his stead.
9 ૯ હવે, પ્રભુ ઈશ્વર, મારા પિતા દાઉદને જે વચન આપ્યું હતું તે ફળીભૂત કરો, કેમ કે તમે મને પૃથ્વીની ધૂળની રજ જેટલા અસંખ્ય લોકો પર રાજા બનાવ્યો છે.
Now, O Lord God, let thy word unto David my father be verified; for thou hast made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.
10 ૧૦ હવે તમે મને ડહાપણ તથા જ્ઞાન આપો, કે જેથી હું આ લોકોનો ન્યાયાધીશ થઈ શકું. કારણ કે તમારી આ મહાન પ્રજાનો ન્યાય કોણ કરી શકે?”
Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who could [otherwise] judge this thy great people?
11 ૧૧ ઈશ્વરે સુલેમાનને કહ્યું, “તારા હૃદયમાં આ મહાન બાબત છે. તેં ધન, સંપત્તિ, આદર અથવા તને જે ધિક્કારે છે તેઓના જીવ, તેમ જ પોતાના માટે લાંબુ આયુષ્ય માગ્યું નહિ; પણ તેં તારા માટે ડહાપણ તથા જ્ઞાન માગ્યું, કે જેથી તું મારા લોકો પર રાજ અને ન્યાય કરી શકે. જો કે એ માટે જ મેં તને રાજા બનાવ્યો છે.
And God said unto Solomon, Whereas this hath been in thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of thy enemies, and hast not even asked long life; but hast asked for thyself wisdom and knowledge, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
12 ૧૨ હવે તને ડહાપણ તથા જ્ઞાન બક્ષ્યાં છે; હું તને એટલું બધું ધન, સંપત્તિ અને આદર આપીશ કે તારી અગાઉ જે રાજાઓ થઈ ગયા તેઓની પાસે એટલું ન હતું. અને તારા પછીના કોઈને મળશે પણ નહિ.”
[Therefore] are the wisdom and the knowledge granted unto thee; and riches, and wealth, and honor, will I give thee, such as no kings that have been before thee have had, and the like of which after thee none shall have.
13 ૧૩ તેથી સુલેમાન ગિબ્યોનના ઉચ્ચસ્થાનમાંથી મુલાકાતમંડપ આગળથી યરુશાલેમ આવ્યો; અને તેણે ઇઝરાયલ ઉપર રાજ કર્યું.
Then came Solomon from the high-place that was at Gib'on to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.
14 ૧૪ સુલેમાને રથો તથા ઘોડેસવારોને એકત્ર કર્યા: તેની પાસે એક હજાર ચારસો રથો તથા એક હજાર બસો ઘોડેસવારો હતા, તેમાંના કેટલાકને તેણે રથો રાખવાના નગરોમાં અને પોતાની પાસે યરુશાલેમમાં રાખ્યા.
And Solomon brought together chariots and horsemen; and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, and he placed them in the chariot-cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
15 ૧૫ રાજાએ યરુશાલેમમાં સોનું તથા ચાંદી એટલાં બધાં વધારી દીધાં કે તે પથ્થરની તોલે થઈ ગયાં. અને દેવદારનાં લાકડાં એટલા બધાં વધી ગયા કે તે નીચાણના પ્રદેશમાંનાં ગુલ્લર વૃક્ષોનાં લાકડા જેવા થઈ પડ્યાં.
And the king rendered the silver and gold at Jerusalem like stones, and cedar-trees he rendered as the sycamore-trees that are in the lowlands for abundance.
And Solomon had his horses brought out of Egypt; a company of the king's merchants bought a quantity at a price.
17 ૧૭ મિસરથી તેઓ દરેક રથ ચાંદીના છસો શેકેલ ચૂકવીને ખરીદી લાવતા હતા. એ જ પ્રમાણે હિત્તીઓના સર્વ રાજાઓને માટે તથા અરામના રાજાઓને માટે પણ તે સોદાગરો ઘોડા લઈ આવતા.
And they brought up, and fetched out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty; and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, did they bring them out by their means.
