પિતરનો પહેલો પત્ર 4
1 ૧ હવે ખ્રિસ્તે આપણે માટે મનુષ્યદેહમાં દુ: ખ સહ્યું છે, માટે તમે પણ એવું જ મન રાખીને સજ્જ થાઓ; કેમ કે જેણે મનુષ્યદેહમાં દુ: ખ સહ્યું છે તે પાપથી મુક્ત થયો છે,
Christ, then, having suffered for us in [the] flesh, do ye also arm yourselves with the same mind; for he that has suffered in [the] flesh has done with sin,
no longer to live the rest of [his] time in [the] flesh to men's lusts, but to God's will.
3 ૩ કેમ કે જેમ વિદેશીઓ જેમાં આનંદ માને છે તે પ્રમાણે કરવામાં તમે તમારા જીવનનો ઘણો સમય વિતાવ્યો છે, તે બસ તે છે. તે સમયે તમે વ્યભિચારમાં, વિષયભોગમાં, મદ્યપાનમાં, મોજશોખમાં, તથા તિરસ્કૃત મૂર્તિપૂજામાં મગ્ન હતા.
For the time past [is] sufficient [for us] to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, walking in lasciviousness, lusts, wine-drinking, revels, drinkings, and unhallowed idolatries.
4 ૪ એ બાબતોમાં તમે તેઓની સાથે જે દુરાચારના પૂરમાં ધસી પડતા નથી, તેથી તેઓ આશ્ચર્ય પામે છે અને તમારી નિંદા કરે છે.
Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with [them] to the same sink of corruption, speaking injuriously [of you];
who shall render account to him who is ready to judge [the] living and [the] dead.
6 ૬ કેમ કે મૃત્યુ પામેલાંઓને પણ સુવાર્તા પ્રગટ કરાઈ હતી કે જેથી શરીરમાં તેઓનો ન્યાય થાય, પણ આત્મા વિષે તેઓ ઈશ્વરમાં જીવે.
For to this [end] were the glad tidings preached to [the] dead also, that they might be judged, as regards men, after [the] flesh, but live, as regards God, after [the] Spirit.
But the end of all things is drawn nigh: be sober therefore, and be watchful unto prayers;
but before all things having fervent love among yourselves, because love covers a multitude of sins;
hospitable one to another, without murmuring;
10 ૧૦ દરેકને જે કૃપાદાન મળ્યું છે તે એકબીજાની સેવા કરવામાં ઈશ્વરની અનેક પ્રકારની કૃપાના સારા કારભારીઓ તરીકે વાપરવું.
each according as he has received a gift, ministering it to one another, as good stewards of [the] various grace of God.
11 ૧૧ જો કોઈ ઉપદેશ આપે છે, તો તેણે ઈશ્વરના વચન પ્રમાણે ઉપદેશ આપવો; જો કોઈ સેવા કરે, તો તેણે ઈશ્વરે આપેલા સામર્થ્ય પ્રમાણે સેવા કરવી; કે જેથી સર્વ બાબતોમાં ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્ત ધ્વારા ઈશ્વર મહિમાવાન થાય; તેમને સદાસર્વકાળ મહિમા તથા સત્તા હો! આમીન. (aiōn g165)
If any one speak — as oracles of God; if any one minister — as of strength which God supplies; that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory and the might for the ages of ages. Amen. (aiōn g165)
12 ૧૨ વહાલાઓ, તમારી કસોટી કરવાને માટે તમારા પર જે અગ્નિરૂપી દુઃખ પડે છે, તેમાં તમને કંઈ વિચિત્ર થયું હોય તેમ સમજીને આશ્ચર્ય ન પામો.
Beloved, take not [as] strange the fire [of persecution] which has taken place amongst you for [your] trial, as if a strange thing was happening to you;
13 ૧૩ પણ ખ્રિસ્તનાં દુઃખોમાં તમે ભાગીદાર થાઓ છો, તેને લીધે આનંદ કરો; કે જેથી તેમનો મહિમા પ્રગટ થાય ત્યારે પણ તમે બહુ ઉલ્લાસથી આનંદ કરો.
but as ye have share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, that in the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exultation.
14 ૧૪ જો ખ્રિસ્તનાં નામને કારણે તમારી નિંદા થતી હોય, તો તમે આશીર્વાદિત છો, કેમ કે મહિમાનો તથા ઈશ્વરનો આત્મા તમારા પર રહે છે.
If ye are reproached in [the] name of Christ, blessed [are ye]; for the [Spirit] of glory and the Spirit of God rests upon you: [on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.]
Let none of you suffer indeed as murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or as overseer of other people's matters;
16 ૧૬ પણ ખ્રિસ્તી હોવાને કારણે જો કોઈને સહેવું પડે છે, તો તેથી શરમાય નહિ પણ તે નામમાં તે ઈશ્વરનો મહિમા કરે.
but if as a christian, let him not be ashamed, but glorify God in this name.
17 ૧૭ કેમ કે ન્યાયચૂકાદાનો આરંભ ઈશ્વરના પરિવારમાં થવાનો સમય આવ્યો છે અને જો તેનો પ્રારંભ આપણામાં થાય, તો ઈશ્વરની સુવાર્તા જેઓ નથી માનતા તેઓના હાલ કેવાં થશે?
For the time of having the judgment begin from the house of God [is come]; but if first from us, what [shall be] the end of those who obey not the glad tidings of God?
And if the righteous is difficultly saved, where shall the impious and [the] sinner appear?
19 ૧૯ માટે જેઓ ઈશ્વરની ઇચ્છા પ્રમાણે દુઃખ સહન કરે છે તેઓ ભલું કાર્ય કરવાનું ચાલુ રાખતાં પોતાના પ્રાણોને વિશ્વાસુ સૃજનહારને સોંપે.
Wherefore also let them who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing to a faithful Creator.
