કરિંથીઓને પહેલોપત્ર 14
1 ૧ પ્રેમને અનુસરો; અને આત્મિક દાનો મેળવવાની અભિલાષા રાખો, વિશેષ કરીને તમે પ્રબોધ કરી શકો એની અભિલાષા રાખો.
Pursue love, and earnestly desire spiritual gifts; but especially that you may prophesy.
2 ૨ કેમ કે જે કોઈ અન્ય ભાષા બોલે છે, તે માણસની સાથે નહિ, પણ ઈશ્વરની સાથે બોલે છે, બીજું કોઈ તેનું બોલવું સમજતું નથી, પણ તે આત્મામાં મર્મો બોલે છે.
For he who speaks in a foreign language, speaks not to men, but to God; for no one understands him: nevertheless, by the Spirit he speaks secrets.
But he who prophesies, speaks to men for edification, and exhortation, and consolation.
4 ૪ જે અન્ય ભાષા બોલે છે તે પોતાની ઉન્નતિ કરે છે; પણ જે પ્રબોધ કરે છે તે વિશ્વાસી સમુદાયની ઉન્નતિ કરે છે.
He who speaks in a foreign language, edifies himself: but he who prophesies, edifies the congregation.
5 ૫ મારી ઇચ્છા છે કે, તમે બધા અન્ય ભાષાઓ બોલો, પણ વિશેષ કરીને તમે પ્રબોધ સમજાવો એવી મારી ઇચ્છા છે. કેમ કે અન્ય ભાષાઓ બોલનાર, જો વિશ્વાસી સમુદાયની ઉન્નતિને માટે ભાષાંતર કરે નહિ, તો તે કરતાં પ્રબોધ કરનારનું મહત્ત્વ વધારે છે.
I wish, indeed, that you all spoke in foreign languages; but rather that you prophesied: for greater is he who prophesies, than he who speaks in foreign languages, unless, indeed, he interpret, that the congregation may receive edification.
6 ૬ ભાઈઓ, તમારી વચ્ચે આવીને હું અન્ય ભાષાઓ બોલું પણ જો પ્રકટીકરણ, જ્ઞાન, પ્રબોધ કે શિખામણથી ન બોલું તો તેનાથી તમને કશો લાભ નથી.
For now, brethren, if I should come to you speaking in foreign languages, what shall I profit you, unless I shall speak to you intelligibly; either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophecy, or by doctrine?
7 ૭ એમ જ અવાજ કાઢનાર નિર્જીવ વાજિંત્રો, પછી તે વાંસળી હોય કે વીણા હોય પણ જો એમના સૂરમાં અલગતા આવે નહિ, તો વાંસળી કે વીણા એમાંથી શું વગાડે છે તે કેવી રીતે માલૂમ પડે?
In like manner, things without life, giving sound; whether pipe, or harp; unless they give a difference to the notes, how shall it be known what is piped, or harped?
And, therefore, if the trumpet give and unintelligible sound, who will prepare himself for battle?
9 ૯ એમ જ તમે પણ જો જીભ વડે સમજી શકાય એવા શબ્દો ના બોલો તો બોલેલી વાત કેવી રીતે સમજાય? કેમ કે એમ કરવાથી તમે હવામાં બોલનારા જેવા ગણાશો.
So, also, you, unless with the tongue you give intelligible speech, how shall it be known what is spoken? Therefore, you will be speaking to the air.
There are, perhaps, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without signification.
11 ૧૧ એ માટે જો હું અમુક ભાષાનો અર્થ ન જાણું, તો બોલનારની સમક્ષ હું પરદેશી જેવો અને બોલનાર મારી આગળ પરદેશી જેવો થશે.
Yet, if I do not know the meaning of the language, I shall be to him who speaks, a foreigner; and he who speaks, will be a foreigner to me.
12 ૧૨ એ પ્રમાણે તમે આત્માનાં દાનો ઇચ્છો છો, તે ઝનૂનથી શોધો અને વિશ્વાસી સમુદાયની ઉન્નતિને માટે તમે તેમાં વૃદ્ધિ પામવા પ્રયાસ કરો.
Wherefore, you, also, since you are earnestly desirous of spiritual gifts, seek them, that you may abound for the edification of the congregation.
For which cause, let him who prays in a foreign language, pray that he may interpret.
14 ૧૪ કેમ કે જો હું અન્ય ભાષામાં પ્રાર્થના કરું, તો મારો આત્મા પ્રાર્થના કરે છે, પણ મારું મન નિષ્ક્રિય રહે છે.
For if I pray in a foreign language, my spirit prays; but my understanding is unfruitful.
What, then, is to be done? I will pray with the Spirit, but I will pray also with understanding: I will sing with the Spirit; but I will sing also with understanding.
16 ૧૬ નહિ તો જો તું આત્માથી સ્તુતિ કરીશ તો ત્યાં જે ઓછી સમજવાળો માણસ બેઠેલો છે તે તારી સ્તુતિ સાંભળીને આમીન કેવી રીતે કહેશે? કેમ કે તું શું બોલે છે એ તે સમજતો નથી.
Else, when you shall bless with the spirit, how shall he who fills up the place of the unlearned, say the Amen to your thanksgiving, since he knows not what you say?
For you, indeed, give thanks well; but the other is not edified.
I give thanks to God, speaking in more foreign languages than all of you;
19 ૧૯ તોપણ વિશ્વાસી સમુદાયમાં અન્ય ભાષામાં દસ હજાર શબ્દ બોલવા કરતાં બીજાઓને શીખવવા પોતાની સમજશક્તિથી માત્ર પાંચ શબ્દો બોલવાનું હું વધારે પસંદ કરું છું.
yet, in the congregation, I would rather speak five sentences with my meaning understood, that I may instruct others, also, than ten thousand sentences in a foreign language.
Brethren, be not children in understanding; but in evil be children, and in understanding be full grown men.
21 ૨૧ નિયમશાસ્ત્રમાં લખ્યું છે કે, ‘અન્ય ભાષાઓથી તથા અજાણી પ્રજાઓના હોઠોથી હું આ લોકોની સાથે બોલીશ, તોપણ તેઓ મારું સાંભળશે નહીં,’ એમ પ્રભુ કહે છે.
In the law it is written, "Surely, with other tongues, and with other lips, I will speak to this people; yet not even then will they hearken to me, says the Lord."
22 ૨૨ એ માટે ભાષાઓ વિશ્વાસીઓને નહિ, પણ અવિશ્વાસીઓને માટે નિશાનીરૂપ છે. અને પ્રબોધ અવિશ્વાસીઓને નહિ પણ વિશ્વાસીઓને માટે ચિહ્નરૂપ છે.
So that foreign languages are for a sign; not to believers, but to unbelievers: but prophecy is for a sign; not to unbelievers, but to believers.
23 ૨૩ માટે જો આખો વિશ્વાસી સમુદાય એકઠો મળે, અને બધા જ અન્ય ભાષાઓમાં બોલે અને જો કેટલાક ઓછી સમજવાળા તથા અવિશ્વાસીઓ ત્યાં આવે તો શું તેઓ કહેશે નહિ, કે તમે પાગલ છો?
If, then, the whole congregation be come together in one place, and all speak in foreign languages; and there come in unlearned persons, or unbelievers, will they not say that you are mad?
24 ૨૪ પણ જો સર્વ પ્રબોધ કરે અને કોઈ અવિશ્વાસી કે અણસમજુ અંદર આવે તો બધાથી તેને શિખામણ મળે છે; બધાથી તે પરખાય છે;
But if all prophesy, and there come in an unbeliever, or an unlearned person, he is corrected by all, he is examined by all;
25 ૨૫ અને તેના હૃદયની ગુપ્ત બાબતો પ્રગટ કરાય છે; વળી ખરેખર ઈશ્વર તમારામાં છે એવું કબૂલ કરીને, તે ઘૂંટણે પડીને ઈશ્વરનું ભજન કરશે.
the hidden things of his heart are made manifest: and so, falling on his face, he will worship God, publishing that God is actually among you.
26 ૨૬ ભાઈઓ તથા બહેનો જયારે તમે એકઠા થાઓ છો ત્યારે તમારામાંના કોઈ ગીત ગાય છે, કોઈ પ્રકટીકરણ કરે છે, કોઈ અન્ય ભાષા બોલે છે કોઈ તેનો અર્થ સમજાવે છે; આ બધું ઉન્નતિને માટે થવું જોઈએ.
What is it, then, brethren? When you are come together, each of you has a psalm, has a discourse, has a foreign language, has a revelation, has an interpretation! Let all things be done to edification.
27 ૨૭ જો કોઈ અન્ય ભાષા બોલે, તો બે અથવા વધારેમાં વધારે ત્રણ માણસ વારાફરતી બોલે છે; અને એક જેણે ભાષાંતર કરવું.
And if any one speak in a foreign language, let it be by two, or at most by three sentences, and separately; and let one interpret.
28 ૨૮ પણ જો ભાષાંતર કરનાર ન હોય તો વિશ્વાસી સમુદાયમાં તેણે છાના રહેવું અને માત્ર પોતાની તથા ઈશ્વરની સાથે બોલવું.
But if there be no interpreter, let him be silent in the congregation; yet let him speak to himself and to God.
Now, let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.
But, if to another, sitting by, anything be revealed, let the first be silent.
For you all can prophesy, one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
For the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
Besides, God is not the author of confusion, but of peace. As in all the assemblies of the saints,
34 ૩૪ સ્ત્રીઓએ વિશ્વાસી સમુદાયોમાં છાના રહેવું; કેમ કે તેઓને બોલવાનો અધિકાર નથી, પણ તેઓને આધીનતામાં રહેવું જોઈએ એમ નિયમશાસ્ત્ર પણ કહે છે.
let your women be silent in the congregations: for it has not been permitted to them to speak, but they must be in subjection; as the law also commands.
35 ૩૫ પણ જો તેઓ કંઈ શીખવા ચાહે, તો તેઓએ ઘરમાં પોતાના પતિને પૂછવું; કેમ કે વિશ્વાસી સમુદાયમાં સ્ત્રીઓએ બોલવું એ શરમભરેલું છે.
And if they wish to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands, at home: for it is an indecent thing for women to speak in the congregation.
What! went the word of God forth from you? or did it come to you only?
37 ૩૭ જો કોઈ પોતાને પ્રબોધક કે આત્મિક સમજે, તો જે વાતો હું તમારા પર લખું છું તેઓ પ્રભુની આજ્ઞાઓ છે એવું તેણે સમજવું.
If any one be really a prophet, or spiritual person, let him acknowledge the things I write to you, that they are the commandments of the Lord.
And if any one be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
Wherefore, brethren, earnestly desire to prophesy; and hinder not to speak in foreign languages.
Let all things be done decently and in order.
