Πετρου Α΄ 5
1 Πρεσβυτέρους οὖν ἐν ὑμῖν παρακαλῶ, ὁ συμπρεσβύτερος καὶ μάρτυς τῶν τοῦ ˚Χριστοῦ παθημάτων, ὁ καὶ τῆς μελλούσης ἀποκαλύπτεσθαι δόξης κοινωνός,
The elders that are among you I exhort, who am also an elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker of the glory which shall be revealed; feed the flock of God that is among you,
2 ποιμάνατε τὸ ἐν ὑμῖν ποίμνιον τοῦ ˚Θεοῦ, μὴ ἀναγκαστῶς, ἀλλὰ ἑκουσίως, κατὰ ˚Θεόν, μηδὲ αἰσχροκερδῶς, ἀλλὰ προθύμως,
taking the episcopal charge of it, not by constraint, but willingly; not for shameful lucre, but with a ready mind:
3 μηδʼ ὡς κατακυριεύοντες τῶν κλήρων, ἀλλὰ τύποι γινόμενοι τοῦ ποιμνίου.
nor as lording it over the people, but being examples to the flock.
4 Καὶ φανερωθέντος τοῦ ἀρχιποίμενος, κομιεῖσθε τὸν ἀμαράντινον τῆς δόξης στέφανον.
And when the sovereign Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive an unfading crown of glory.
5 Ὁμοίως, νεώτεροι, ὑποτάγητε πρεσβυτέροις. Πάντες, δὲ ἀλλήλοις τὴν ταπεινοφροσύνην ἐγκομβώσασθε ὅτι, “Ὁ ˚Θεὸς ὑπερηφάνοις ἀντιτάσσεται, ταπεινοῖς δὲ δίδωσιν χάριν.”
Likewise ye younger, be subject to the elder; and all of you behaving with due submission one to another, be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, but sheweth favor to the humble.
6 Ταπεινώθητε οὖν ὑπὸ τὴν κραταιὰν χεῖρα τοῦ ˚Θεοῦ, ἵνα ὑμᾶς ὑψώσῃ ἐν καιρῷ,
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time;
7 πᾶσαν τὴν μέριμναν ὑμῶν ἐπιρίψαντες ἐπʼ αὐτόν, ὅτι αὐτῷ μέλει περὶ ὑμῶν.
casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you.
8 Νήψατε, γρηγορήσατε. Ὁ ἀντίδικος ὑμῶν, διάβολος, ὡς λέων ὠρυόμενος περιπατεῖ, ζητῶν καταπιεῖν·
Be sober, be vigilant; for your adversary the devil, like a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 ᾧ ἀντίστητε, στερεοὶ τῇ πίστει, εἰδότες τὰ αὐτὰ τῶν παθημάτων, τῇ ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ ὑμῶν ἀδελφότητι ἐπιτελεῖσθαι.
whom resist, stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are endured by your brethren in the world.
10 Ὁ δὲ ˚Θεὸς πάσης χάριτος, ὁ καλέσας ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν αἰώνιον αὐτοῦ δόξαν ἐν ˚Χριστῷ, ὀλίγον παθόντας, αὐτὸς καταρτίσει, στηρίξει, σθενώσει, (aiōnios g166)
But may the God of all grace, who hath called us to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after ye have suffered a little while, make you perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. (aiōnios g166)
To Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
12 Διὰ Σιλουανοῦ, ὑμῖν τοῦ πιστοῦ ἀδελφοῦ (ὡς λογίζομαι), διʼ ὀλίγων ἔγραψα, παρακαλῶν καὶ ἐπιμαρτυρῶν ταύτην εἶναι ἀληθῆ χάριν τοῦ ˚Θεοῦ, εἰς ἣν στῆτε.
Thus I have written briefly by Silvanus, a faithful brother to you (as I judge) exhorting and testifying, that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.
13 Ἀσπάζεται ὑμᾶς ἡ ἐν Βαβυλῶνι συνεκλεκτὴ, καὶ Μᾶρκος, ὁ υἱός μου.
The church in Babylon, chosen together with you saluteth you, and so doth Marcus my son.
14 Ἀσπάσασθε ἀλλήλους ἐν φιλήματι ἀγάπης. Εἰρήνη ὑμῖν πᾶσιν, τοῖς ἐν ˚Χριστῷ.
Salute one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
