< Προς Κορινθιους Α΄ 15 >
1 Γνωρίζω δὲ ὑμῖν, ἀδελφοί, τὸ εὐαγγέλιον ὃ εὐηγγελισάμην ὑμῖν, ὃ καὶ παρελάβετε, ἐν ᾧ καὶ ἑστήκατε,
And, brothers, I make known to you the good news that I preached to you, which also ye received, and in which ye stand,
2 διʼ οὗ καὶ σῴζεσθε, τίνι λόγῳ εὐηγγελισάμην ὑμῖν, εἰ κατέχετε, ἐκτὸς εἰ μὴ εἰκῇ ἐπιστεύσατε.
by which also ye are saved if ye hold firm that word I preached to you, unless ye believed in vain.
3 Παρέδωκα γὰρ ὑμῖν ἐν πρώτοις, ὃ καὶ παρέλαβον: ὅτι ˚Χριστὸς ἀπέθανεν ὑπὲρ τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν ἡμῶν κατὰ τὰς Γραφάς,
For I delivered to you at first what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures,
4 καὶ ὅτι ἐτάφη, καὶ ὅτι ἐγήγερται τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ κατὰ τὰς Γραφάς,
and that he was buried, and that he arose on the third day according to the scriptures,
5 καὶ ὅτι ὤφθη Κηφᾷ, εἶτα τοῖς δώδεκα.
and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.
6 Ἔπειτα ὤφθη ἐπάνω πεντακοσίοις ἀδελφοῖς ἐφάπαξ, ἐξ ὧν οἱ πλείονες μένουσιν ἕως ἄρτι, τινὲς δὲ ἐκοιμήθησαν.
Then he appeared to over five hundred brothers at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, but some also slept.
7 Ἔπειτα ὤφθη Ἰακώβῳ, εἶτα τοῖς ἀποστόλοις πᾶσιν,
Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,
8 ἔσχατον δὲ πάντων, ὡσπερεὶ τῷ ἐκτρώματι, ὤφθη κἀμοί.
and last of all, as to the untimely birth, he also appeared to me.
9 Ἐγὼ γάρ εἰμι ὁ ἐλάχιστος τῶν ἀποστόλων, ὃς οὐκ εἰμὶ ἱκανὸς καλεῖσθαι ἀπόστολος, διότι ἐδίωξα τὴν ἐκκλησίαν τοῦ ˚Θεοῦ.
For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
10 Χάριτι δὲ ˚Θεοῦ, εἰμι ὅ εἰμι, καὶ ἡ χάρις αὐτοῦ ἡ εἰς ἐμὲ, οὐ κενὴ ἐγενήθη, ἀλλὰ περισσότερον αὐτῶν πάντων ἐκοπίασα, οὐκ ἐγὼ δὲ, ἀλλὰ ἡ χάρις τοῦ ˚Θεοῦ σὺν ἐμοί.
But by the grace of God I am what I am. And his grace for me did not become empty, but I labored more abundantly than them all, yet not I, but the grace of God with me.
11 Εἴτε οὖν ἐγὼ εἴτε ἐκεῖνοι, οὕτως κηρύσσομεν, καὶ οὕτως ἐπιστεύσατε.
Therefore whether I or those men, so we proclaim, and so ye believed.
12 Εἰ δὲ ˚Χριστὸς κηρύσσεται, ὅτι ἐκ νεκρῶν ἐγήγερται, πῶς λέγουσιν ἐν ὑμῖν τινες ὅτι ἀνάστασις νεκρῶν οὐκ ἔστιν;
Now if Christ is proclaimed that he has risen from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
13 Εἰ δὲ ἀνάστασις νεκρῶν οὐκ ἔστιν, οὐδὲ ˚Χριστὸς ἐγήγερται·
But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither has Christ risen.
14 εἰ δὲ ˚Χριστὸς οὐκ ἐγήγερται, κενὸν ἄρα τὸ κήρυγμα ἡμῶν, κενὴ καὶ ἡ πίστις ὑμῶν.
And if Christ has not risen, then our preaching is empty, and your faith is also empty.
15 Εὑρισκόμεθα δὲ καὶ ψευδομάρτυρες τοῦ ˚Θεοῦ, ὅτι ἐμαρτυρήσαμεν κατὰ τοῦ ˚Θεοῦ ὅτι ἤγειρεν τὸν ˚Χριστόν, ὃν οὐκ ἤγειρεν, εἴπερ ἄρα νεκροὶ οὐκ ἐγείρονται.
And also we are found false witnesses of God, because we witnessed according to God that he raised up the Christ, whom he did not raise up, if therefore the dead are really not raised.
16 Εἰ γὰρ νεκροὶ οὐκ ἐγείρονται, οὐδὲ ˚Χριστὸς ἐγήγερται·
For if the dead are not raised, neither has Christ been raised.
17 εἰ δὲ ˚Χριστὸς οὐκ ἐγήγερται, ματαία ἡ πίστις ὑμῶν, καὶ ἔτι ἐστὲ ἐν ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις ὑμῶν.
And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain. Ye are still in your sins.
18 Ἄρα καὶ οἱ κοιμηθέντες ἐν ˚Χριστῷ ἀπώλοντο.
Then also those who slept in Christ have perished.
19 Εἰ ἐν τῇ ζωῇ ταύτῃ, ἐν ˚Χριστῷ ἠλπικότες ἐσμὲν μόνον, ἐλεεινότεροι πάντων ἀνθρώπων ἐσμέν.
If we are men who have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men more miserable.
20 Νυνὶ δὲ ˚Χριστὸς ἐγήγερται ἐκ νεκρῶν, ἀπαρχὴ τῶν κεκοιμημένων.
But now Christ has been raised from the dead. He became the first fruit of those who are asleep.
21 Ἐπειδὴ γὰρ διʼ ἀνθρώπου θάνατος, καὶ διʼ ἀνθρώπου ἀνάστασις νεκρῶν.
For since death is because of a man, the resurrection of the dead is also because of a man.
22 Ὥσπερ γὰρ ἐν τῷ Ἀδὰμ, πάντες ἀποθνῄσκουσιν, οὕτως καὶ ἐν τῷ ˚Χριστῷ, πάντες ζῳοποιηθήσονται.
For as by Adam all die, so also by Christ all will be made alive.
23 Ἕκαστος δὲ ἐν τῷ ἰδίῳ τάγματι: ἀπαρχὴ ˚Χριστός, ἔπειτα οἱ τοῦ ˚Χριστοῦ ἐν τῇ παρουσίᾳ αὐτοῦ,
But each in his own order. Christ the first fruit, then those of Christ at his coming.
24 εἶτα τὸ τέλος, ὅταν παραδιδῷ τὴν βασιλείαν τῷ ˚Θεῷ καὶ Πατρί, ὅταν καταργήσῃ πᾶσαν ἀρχὴν, καὶ πᾶσαν ἐξουσίαν, καὶ δύναμιν.
Afterwards the end, when he delivers up the kingdom to the God and Father, when he will abolish all rule, and all authority and power.
25 Δεῖ γὰρ αὐτὸν βασιλεύειν, ἄχρι οὗ θῇ πάντας τοὺς ἐχθροὺς ὑπὸ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ.
For he must reign until he will put all his enemies under his feet.
26 Ἔσχατος ἐχθρὸς καταργεῖται ὁ θάνατος.
The last enemy abolished is death.
27 “Πάντα γὰρ ὑπέταξεν ὑπὸ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ.” Ὅταν δὲ εἴπῃ ὅτι πάντα ὑποτέτακται, δῆλον ὅτι ἐκτὸς τοῦ ὑποτάξαντος αὐτῷ τὰ πάντα.
For he subordinated all things under his feet. But when he says that all things have been subordinated, it is clear that he who subordinated all things under him, is excepted.
28 Ὅταν δὲ ὑποταγῇ αὐτῷ τὰ πάντα, τότε καὶ αὐτὸς ὁ Υἱὸς, ὑποταγήσεται τῷ ὑποτάξαντι αὐτῷ τὰ πάντα, ἵνα ᾖ ὁ ˚Θεὸς πάντα ἐν πᾶσιν.
And when all things are made subordinate to him, then the Son himself will also be made subordinate to him who subordinated all things to him, so that God may be all in all.
29 Ἐπεὶ τί ποιήσουσιν, οἱ βαπτιζόμενοι ὑπὲρ τῶν νεκρῶν; Εἰ ὅλως νεκροὶ οὐκ ἐγείρονται, τί καὶ βαπτίζονται ὑπὲρ αὐτῶν;
Otherwise what will they do who are immersed for the dead? If the dead do not rise at all, why then are they immersed for the dead?
30 Τί καὶ ἡμεῖς κινδυνεύομεν πᾶσαν ὥραν;
And we, why are we in peril every hour?
31 Καθʼ ἡμέραν ἀποθνῄσκω, νὴ τὴν ὑμετέραν καύχησιν, ἀδελφοί, ἣν ἔχω ἐν ˚Χριστῷ ˚Ἰησοῦ, τῷ ˚Κυρίῳ ἡμῶν.
By the pride that belongs to you, that I keep in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
32 Εἰ κατὰ ἄνθρωπον, ἐθηριομάχησα ἐν Ἐφέσῳ, τί μοι τὸ ὄφελος; Εἰ νεκροὶ οὐκ ἐγείρονται, “Φάγωμεν καὶ πίωμεν, αὔριον γὰρ ἀποθνῄσκομεν.”
If in respect to men I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what is the benefit to me if the dead are not raised? Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.
33 Μὴ πλανᾶσθε– φθείρουσιν ἤθη χρηστὰ ὁμιλίαι κακαί.
Be not led astray. Evil associations corrupt good habits.
34 Ἐκνήψατε δικαίως καὶ μὴ ἁμαρτάνετε, ἀγνωσίαν γὰρ ˚Θεοῦ τινες ἔχουσιν· πρὸς ἐντροπὴν ὑμῖν λαλῶ.
Sober up rightly, and do not sin, for some have ignorance of God. I speak shame about you.
35 Ἀλλʼ ἐρεῖ τις, “Πῶς ἐγείρονται οἱ νεκροί;” Ποίῳ δὲ σώματι ἔρχονται;
But some man will say, How are the dead raised, and with what kind of body do they come?
36 Ἄφρων! Σὺ ὃ σπείρεις, οὐ ζῳοποιεῖται, ἐὰν μὴ ἀποθάνῃ.
Thou foolish man, what thou sow is not made alive unless it dies.
37 Καὶ ὃ σπείρεις, οὐ τὸ σῶμα τὸ γενησόμενον σπείρεις, ἀλλὰ γυμνὸν κόκκον, εἰ τύχοι σίτου, ἤ τινος τῶν λοιπῶν.
And what thou sow, thou do not sow the body that it will become, but a bare grain, if it may happen of wheat, or of some other kind.
38 Ὁ δὲ ˚Θεὸς δίδωσιν αὐτῷ σῶμα, καθὼς ἠθέλησεν, καὶ ἑκάστῳ τῶν σπερμάτων, ἴδιον σῶμα.
But God gives it a body as he wills, and to each of the seeds its own body.
39 Οὐ πᾶσα σὰρξ ἡ αὐτὴ σάρξ, ἀλλὰ ἄλλη μὲν ἀνθρώπων, ἄλλη δὲ σὰρξ κτηνῶν, ἄλλη δὲ σὰρξ πτηνῶν, ἄλλη δὲ ἰχθύων.
All flesh is not the same flesh, but one of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another of fishes, and another of birds,
40 Καὶ σώματα ἐπουράνια, καὶ σώματα ἐπίγεια. Ἀλλὰ ἑτέρα μὲν ἡ τῶν ἐπουρανίων δόξα, ἑτέρα δὲ ἡ τῶν ἐπιγείων.
and heavenly bodies, and earthly bodies (but the glory of the heavenly is different, and the glory of the earthly is different),
41 Ἄλλη δόξα ἡλίου, καὶ ἄλλη δόξα σελήνης, καὶ ἄλλη δόξα ἀστέρων, ἀστὴρ γὰρ ἀστέρος διαφέρει ἐν δόξῃ.
another glory is of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars, for star differs from star in glory.
42 Οὕτως καὶ ἡ ἀνάστασις τῶν νεκρῶν. Σπείρεται ἐν φθορᾷ, ἐγείρεται ἐν ἀφθαρσίᾳ·
So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in the perishable, it is raised in imperishability.
43 σπείρεται ἐν ἀτιμίᾳ, ἐγείρεται ἐν δόξῃ· σπείρεται ἐν ἀσθενείᾳ, ἐγείρεται ἐν δυνάμει·
It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.
44 σπείρεται σῶμα ψυχικόν, ἐγείρεται σῶμα πνευματικόν. Εἰ ἔστιν σῶμα ψυχικόν, ἔστιν καὶ πνευματικόν.
It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 Οὕτως καὶ γέγραπται, “Ἐγένετο ὁ πρῶτος ἄνθρωπος”, Ἀδὰμ, “εἰς ψυχὴν ζῶσαν”. Ὁ ἔσχατος Ἀδὰμ εἰς πνεῦμα ζῳοποιοῦν.
And so it is written, The first man Adam developed into a living soul. The last Adam a life giving spirit.
46 Ἀλλʼ οὐ πρῶτον τὸ πνευματικὸν, ἀλλὰ τὸ ψυχικόν, ἔπειτα τὸ πνευματικόν.
Nevertheless the spiritual is not first, but the natural, then the spiritual.
47 Ὁ πρῶτος ἄνθρωπος ἐκ γῆς, χοϊκός, ὁ δεύτερος ἄνθρωπος, ἐξ οὐρανοῦ.
The first man was of the earth, earthly. The second man is the Lord from heaven.
48 Οἷος ὁ χοϊκός, τοιοῦτοι καὶ οἱ χοϊκοί, καὶ οἷος ὁ ἐπουράνιος, τοιοῦτοι καὶ οἱ ἐπουράνιοι.
As is the earthly, such also are the earthly. And as is the heavenly, such also are the heavenly.
49 Καὶ καθὼς ἐφορέσαμεν τὴν εἰκόνα τοῦ χοϊκοῦ, φορέσωμεν καὶ τὴν εἰκόνα τοῦ ἐπουρανίου.
And just as we have worn the form of the earthly, we will also wear the form of the heavenly.
50 Τοῦτο δέ φημι, ἀδελφοί, ὅτι σὰρξ καὶ αἷμα Βασιλείαν ˚Θεοῦ κληρονομῆσαι οὐ δύναται, οὐδὲ ἡ φθορὰ, τὴν ἀφθαρσίαν κληρονομεῖ.
Now this I affirm, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit imperishability.
51 Ἰδοὺ, μυστήριον ὑμῖν λέγω: πάντες οὐ κοιμηθησόμεθα, πάντες δὲ ἀλλαγησόμεθα,
Behold, I tell you a mystery. We will actually not all sleep, but we will all be transformed,
52 ἐν ἀτόμῳ, ἐν ῥιπῇ ὀφθαλμοῦ, ἐν τῇ ἐσχάτῃ σάλπιγγι· σαλπίσει γάρ, καὶ οἱ νεκροὶ ἐγερθήσονται ἄφθαρτοι, καὶ ἡμεῖς ἀλλαγησόμεθα.
in an instant, in the blink of an eye, at the last trumpet. For it will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be transformed.
53 Δεῖ γὰρ τὸ φθαρτὸν τοῦτο ἐνδύσασθαι ἀφθαρσίαν, καὶ τὸ θνητὸν τοῦτο ἐνδύσασθαι ἀθανασίαν.
For this perishable must put on imperishability, and this mortal put on immortality.
54 Ὅταν δὲ τὸ φθαρτὸν τοῦτο ἐνδύσηται ἀφθαρσίαν, καὶ τὸ θνητὸν τοῦτο ἐνδύσηται ἀθανασίαν, τότε γενήσεται ὁ λόγος ὁ γεγραμμένος, “Κατεπόθη ὁ θάνατος εἰς νῖκος.”
But when this perishable will have put on imperishability, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come to pass the saying that is written, Death was swallowed up in victory.
55 “Ποῦ σου, θάνατε, τὸ νῖκος; Ποῦ σου, θάνατε, τὸ κέντρον;” (Hadēs )
O death, where is thy sting? O Hades, where is thy victory? (Hadēs )
56 Τὸ δὲ κέντρον τοῦ θανάτου ἡ ἁμαρτία, ἡ δὲ δύναμις τῆς ἁμαρτίας ὁ νόμος.
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
57 Τῷ δὲ ˚Θεῷ χάρις, τῷ διδόντι ἡμῖν τὸ νῖκος διὰ τοῦ ˚Κυρίου ἡμῶν, ˚Ἰησοῦ ˚Χριστοῦ.
But thanks is to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Ὥστε, ἀδελφοί μου ἀγαπητοί, ἑδραῖοι γίνεσθε, ἀμετακίνητοι, περισσεύοντες ἐν τῷ ἔργῳ τοῦ ˚Κυρίου πάντοτε, εἰδότες ὅτι ὁ κόπος ὑμῶν οὐκ ἔστιν κενὸς ἐν ˚Κυρίῳ.
Therefore, my beloved brothers, become ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not empty in the Lord.
