Κατα Μαρκον 6
1 Καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἐκεῖθεν, καὶ ⸀ἔρχεταιεἰς τὴν πατρίδα αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀκολουθοῦσιν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ.
AND he went out thence, and came into his native country; and his disciples followed him.
2 καὶ γενομένου σαββάτου ἤρξατο ⸂διδάσκειν ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ· καὶ ⸀οἱπολλοὶ ἀκούοντες ἐξεπλήσσοντο λέγοντες· Πόθεν τούτῳταῦτα, καὶ τίς ἡ σοφία ἡ δοθεῖσα ⸀τούτῳ, καὶ ⸀αἱδυνάμεις τοιαῦται διὰ τῶν χειρῶν αὐτοῦ ⸀γινόμεναι
And when the sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many when they heard him were amazed, saying, Whence hath this man these things? and what is the wisdom given to him, that even such miracles are done by his hands?
3 οὐχ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ τέκτων, ὁ υἱὸς ⸀τῆςΜαρίας ⸂καὶ ἀδελφὸς Ἰακώβου καὶ ⸀Ἰωσῆτοςκαὶ Ἰούδα καὶ Σίμωνος; καὶ οὐκ εἰσὶν αἱ ἀδελφαὶ αὐτοῦ ὧδε πρὸς ἡμᾶς; καὶ ἐσκανδαλίζοντο ἐν αὐτῷ.
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James and Joses, and Judah and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
4 ⸂καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι Οὐκ ἔστιν προφήτης ἄτιμος εἰ μὴ ἐν τῇ πατρίδι αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν τοῖς ⸂συγγενεῦσιν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ αὐτοῦ.
Then said Jesus unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his native place, and among his relations, and in his own family.
5 καὶ οὐκ ἐδύνατο ἐκεῖ ⸂ποιῆσαι οὐδεμίαν δύναμιν, εἰ μὴ ὀλίγοις ἀρρώστοις ἐπιθεὶς τὰς χεῖρας ἐθεράπευσεν·
And he could not do there any miracle, except that laying his hands on a few sick persons he cured them.
6 καὶ ⸀ἐθαύμαζενδιὰ τὴν ἀπιστίαν αὐτῶν. Καὶ περιῆγεν τὰς κώμας κύκλῳ διδάσκων.
And he marvelled at their infidelity. And he went about the villages around, teaching.
7 καὶ προσκαλεῖται τοὺς δώδεκα, καὶ ἤρξατο αὐτοὺς ἀποστέλλειν δύο δύο, καὶ ἐδίδου αὐτοῖς ἐξουσίαν τῶν πνευμάτων τῶν ἀκαθάρτων,
And called the twelve, and began to send them two and two, and gave them authority over unclean spirits.
8 καὶ παρήγγειλεν αὐτοῖς ἵνα μηδὲν αἴρωσιν εἰς ὁδὸν εἰ μὴ ῥάβδον μόνον, μὴ ⸂ἄρτον, μὴ πήραν⸃, μὴ εἰς τὴν ζώνην χαλκόν,
And he commanded them, that they should take nothing for the journey, except a staff only; neither scrip, nor bread, nor even brass money in their purse:
9 ἀλλὰ ὑποδεδεμένους σανδάλια, καὶ μὴ ⸀ἐνδύσησθεδύο χιτῶνας.
wearing sandals, and not to be clothed with two coats.
10 καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· Ὅπου ⸀ἐὰνεἰσέλθητε εἰς οἰκίαν, ἐκεῖ μένετε ἕως ἂν ἐξέλθητε ἐκεῖθεν.
And he said unto them, Wheresoever ye enter into a family, there abide until ye depart thence.
11 καὶ ⸂ὃς ἂν τόπος μὴ δέξηται ὑμᾶς μηδὲ ἀκούσωσιν ὑμῶν, ἐκπορευόμενοι ἐκεῖθεν ἐκτινάξατε τὸν χοῦν τὸν ὑποκάτω τῶν ποδῶν ὑμῶν εἰς μαρτύριον ⸀αὐτοῖς
And as many as shall not receive you, neither hearken to you, when ye go from thence, shake off the dust from beneath your feet, for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.
12 Καὶ ἐξελθόντες ⸀ἐκήρυξανἵνα ⸀μετανοῶσιν
And going forth, they preached, that men should repent.
13 καὶ δαιμόνια πολλὰ ἐξέβαλλον, καὶ ἤλειφον ἐλαίῳ πολλοὺς ἀρρώστους καὶ ἐθεράπευον.
And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many sick persons, and cured them.
14 Καὶ ἤκουσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἡρῴδης, φανερὸν γὰρ ἐγένετο τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ, καὶ ⸀ἔλεγονὅτι Ἰωάννης ὁ βαπτίζων ⸂ἐγήγερται ἐκ νεκρῶν, καὶ διὰ τοῦτο ἐνεργοῦσιν αἱ δυνάμεις ἐν αὐτῷ·
And king Herod heard it (for his name was celebrated), and he said, This is John the Baptist, he is risen from the dead, and therefore miracles are wrought by him.
15 ἄλλοι ⸀δὲἔλεγον ὅτι Ἠλίας ἐστίν· ἄλλοι δὲ ἔλεγον ὅτι ⸀προφήτηςὡς εἷς τῶν προφητῶν.
Others said, That it is Elias; and others said, He is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.
16 ἀκούσας δὲ ⸀ὁἩρῴδης ⸀ἔλεγεν Ὃν ἐγὼ ἀπεκεφάλισα Ἰωάννην, οὗτος ⸀ἠγέρθη
But when Herod heard it, he said, This is John whom I beheaded; he is risen from the dead.
17 Αὐτὸς γὰρ ὁ Ἡρῴδης ἀποστείλας ἐκράτησεν τὸν Ἰωάννην καὶ ἔδησεν αὐτὸν ἐν φυλακῇ διὰ Ἡρῳδιάδα τὴν γυναῖκα Φιλίππου τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ, ὅτι αὐτὴν ἐγάμησεν·
For Herod himself had sent and seized upon John, and bound him in prison, for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife; because he had married her.
18 ἔλεγεν γὰρ ὁ Ἰωάννης τῷ Ἡρῴδῃ ὅτι Οὐκ ἔξεστίν σοι ἔχειν τὴν γυναῖκα τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου.
For John said to Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother’s wife.
19 ἡ δὲ Ἡρῳδιὰς ἐνεῖχεν αὐτῷ καὶ ἤθελεν αὐτὸν ἀποκτεῖναι, καὶ οὐκ ἠδύνατο·
Therefore Herodias bore him a rooted resentment, and would have slain him; yet could not:
20 ὁ γὰρ Ἡρῴδης ἐφοβεῖτο τὸν Ἰωάννην, εἰδὼς αὐτὸν ἄνδρα δίκαιον καὶ ἅγιον, καὶ συνετήρει αὐτόν, καὶ ἀκούσας αὐτοῦ πολλὰ ⸀ἠπόρει καὶ ἡδέως αὐτοῦ ἤκουεν.
for Herod feared John, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man; and paid great attention to him and when he heard him, did many things, and heard him with delight.
21 Καὶ γενομένης ἡμέρας εὐκαίρου ὅτε Ἡρῴδης τοῖς γενεσίοις αὐτοῦ δεῖπνον ⸀ἐποίησεντοῖς μεγιστᾶσιν αὐτοῦ καὶ τοῖς χιλιάρχοις καὶ τοῖς πρώτοις τῆς Γαλιλαίας,
And a favourable day being come for her purpose, when Herod on his birth-day made a supper for his nobles, and military commanders, and the principal personages of Galilee;
22 καὶ εἰσελθούσης τῆς θυγατρὸς ⸂αὐτῆς τῆς Ἡρῳδιάδος καὶ ὀρχησαμένης ⸂καὶ ἀρεσάσης τῷ Ἡρῴδῃ καὶ τοῖς συνανακειμένοις, ⸂εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τῷ κορασίῳ· Αἴτησόν με ὃ ἐὰν θέλῃς, καὶ δώσω σοι·
and the daughter of this Herodias coming in, and dancing, and delighting Herod, and his company, the king said to the damsel, Ask me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.
23 καὶ ὤμοσεν ⸀αὐτῇ ⸂Ὅ τι ἐάν με αἰτήσῃς δώσω σοι ἕως ἡμίσους τῆς βασιλείας μου.
And he swore unto her, That whatsoever thou shalt ask, I will give thee, even to the half of my kingdom.
24 ⸀καὶἐξελθοῦσα εἶπεν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτῆς· Τί ⸀αἰτήσωμαι ἡ δὲ εἶπεν· Τὴν κεφαλὴν Ἰωάννου τοῦ ⸀βαπτίζοντος
Then she went out and said to her mother, What shall I ask? and she said, The head of John the Baptist.
25 καὶ εἰσελθοῦσα ⸀εὐθὺςμετὰ σπουδῆς πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα ᾐτήσατο λέγουσα· Θέλω ἵνα ⸂ἐξαυτῆς δῷς μοι ἐπὶ πίνακι τὴν κεφαλὴν Ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ.
And she came in immediately with eagerness to the king, and asked, saying, I desire that thou wilt give me on the spot, in a charger, the head of John the Baptist.
26 καὶ περίλυπος γενόμενος ὁ βασιλεὺς διὰ τοὺς ὅρκους καὶ τοὺς ⸀ἀνακειμένουςοὐκ ἠθέλησεν ⸂ἀθετῆσαι αὐτήν·
And the king was exceedingly sorry; yet on account of his oath, and those who sat with him, he would not refuse her.
27 καὶ ⸀εὐθὺςἀποστείλας ὁ βασιλεὺς σπεκουλάτορα ἐπέταξεν ⸀ἐνέγκαιτὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ. ⸀καὶἀπελθὼν ἀπεκεφάλισεν αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ
And the king immediately sending a centinel, commanded his head to be brought thither: and he went, and beheaded him in the prison,
28 καὶ ἤνεγκεν τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πίνακι καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὴν τῷ κορασίῳ, καὶ τὸ κοράσιον ἔδωκεν αὐτὴν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτῆς.
and brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel, and the damsel gave it to her mother.
29 καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἦλθον καὶ ἦραν τὸ πτῶμα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔθηκαν αὐτὸ ἐν μνημείῳ.
And when his disciples heard it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a sepulchre.
30 Καὶ συνάγονται οἱ ἀπόστολοι πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν, καὶ ἀπήγγειλαν αὐτῷ ⸀πάνταὅσα ἐποίησαν καὶ ὅσα ἐδίδαξαν.
And the disciples came together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
31 καὶ ⸀λέγειαὐτοῖς· Δεῦτε ὑμεῖς αὐτοὶ κατʼ ἰδίαν εἰς ἔρημον τόπον καὶ ⸀ἀναπαύσασθεὀλίγον. ἦσαν γὰρ οἱ ἐρχόμενοι καὶ οἱ ὑπάγοντες πολλοί, καὶ οὐδὲ φαγεῖν εὐκαίρουν.
And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and repose a little while: for there were multitudes coming and going, so that they had not even time to eat.
32 καὶ ἀπῆλθον ⸂ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ εἰς ἔρημον τόπον κατʼ ἰδίαν.
And they went into a desert place in a vessel privately.
33 καὶ εἶδον αὐτοὺς ὑπάγοντας καὶ ⸀ἐπέγνωσανπολλοί, καὶ πεζῇ ἀπὸ πασῶν τῶν πόλεων συνέδραμον ἐκεῖ καὶ προῆλθον ⸀αὐτούς
And the multitudes observed them going off, and many knew him, and ran thither on foot out of all the cities, and got before them, and came together unto him.
34 καὶ ἐξελθὼν ⸀εἶδενπολὺν ὄχλον, καὶ ἐσπλαγχνίσθη ἐπʼ ⸀αὐτοὺςὅτι ἦσαν ὡς πρόβατα μὴ ἔχοντα ποιμένα, καὶ ἤρξατο διδάσκειν αὐτοὺς πολλά.
And Jesus, when he landed, saw a vast multitude, and was moved with companion towards them, for they were as sheep having no shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
35 Καὶ ἤδη ὥρας πολλῆς γενομένης προσελθόντες αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ⸀ἔλεγονὅτι Ἔρημός ἐστιν ὁ τόπος, καὶ ἤδη ὥρα πολλή·
And when great part of the day was already gone, his disciples coming to him said, This is a desert place, and much of the day is already gone:
36 ἀπόλυσον αὐτούς, ἵνα ἀπελθόντες εἰς τοὺς κύκλῳ ἀγροὺς καὶ κώμας ἀγοράσωσιν ἑαυτοῖς ⸂τί φάγωσιν.
send them away, that they may go into the country places and villages around, and buy themselves bread; for they have nothing to eat.
37 ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· Δότε αὐτοῖς ὑμεῖς φαγεῖν. καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· Ἀπελθόντες ἀγοράσωμεν δηναρίων διακοσίων ἄρτους καὶ ⸀δώσομεναὐτοῖς φαγεῖν;
But he answering said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy the value of two hundred denarii, in loaves, and give them to eat?
38 ὁ δὲ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Πόσους ⸂ἔχετε ἄρτους; ⸀ὑπάγετεἴδετε. καὶ γνόντες λέγουσιν· Πέντε, καὶ δύο ἰχθύας.
But he said to them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they said, Five, and two fishes.
39 καὶ ἐπέταξεν αὐτοῖς ⸀ἀνακλῖναιπάντας συμπόσια συμπόσια ἐπὶ τῷ χλωρῷ χόρτῳ.
And he commanded them to seat them all by companies on the green grass:
40 καὶ ἀνέπεσαν πρασιαὶ πρασιαὶ ⸀κατὰἑκατὸν καὶ ⸁κατὰπεντήκοντα.
and they lay along row against row, a hundred deep, and fifty wide.
41 καὶ λαβὼν τοὺς πέντε ἄρτους καὶ τοὺς δύο ἰχθύας ἀναβλέψας εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν εὐλόγησεν καὶ κατέκλασεν τοὺς ἄρτους καὶ ἐδίδου τοῖς μαθηταῖς ⸀αὐτοῦἵνα ⸀παρατιθῶσιναὐτοῖς, καὶ τοὺς δύο ἰχθύας ἐμέρισεν πᾶσιν.
And taking the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, that they should set them before them, and the two fishes he divided among them all.
42 καὶ ἔφαγον πάντες καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν·
And they did all eat, and were filled:
43 καὶ ἦραν ⸂κλάσματα δώδεκα κοφίνων πληρώματα καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἰχθύων.
and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
44 καὶ ἦσαν οἱ φαγόντες ⸂τοὺς ἄρτους πεντακισχίλιοι ἄνδρες.
And they who did eat of the loaves, were about five thousand men.
45 Καὶ ⸀εὐθὺςἠνάγκασεν τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ ἐμβῆναι εἰς τὸ πλοῖον καὶ προάγειν ⸂εἰς τὸ πέραν πρὸς Βηθσαϊδάν, ἕως αὐτὸς ⸀ἀπολύειτὸν ὄχλον.
And immediately he compelled his disciples to go on board the vessel, and to go before him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he sent the multitude away.
46 καὶ ἀποταξάμενος αὐτοῖς ἀπῆλθεν εἰς τὸ ὄρος προσεύξασθαι.
And having bid them farewell, he went into a mountain to pray.
47 Καὶ ὀψίας γενομένης ἦν τὸ πλοῖον ἐν μέσῳ τῆς θαλάσσης, καὶ αὐτὸς μόνος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς.
And when the evening was come, the vessel was in the midst of the sea, and himself alone on the land.
48 καὶ ⸀ἰδὼναὐτοὺς βασανιζομένους ἐν τῷ ἐλαύνειν, ἦν γὰρ ὁ ἄνεμος ἐναντίος ⸀αὐτοῖς περὶ τετάρτην φυλακὴν τῆς νυκτὸς ἔρχεται πρὸς αὐτοὺς περιπατῶν ἐπὶ τῆς θαλάσσης· καὶ ἤθελεν παρελθεῖν αὐτούς.
And he saw them greatly fatigued with rowing, for the wind was contrary to them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh to them, walking upon the sea, and seemed intending to pass by them.
49 οἱ δὲ ἰδόντες αὐτὸν ⸂ἐπὶ τῆς θαλάσσης περιπατοῦντα ἔδοξαν ⸂ὅτι φάντασμά ἐστιν καὶ ἀνέκραξαν,
But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they thought it was an apparition, and screamed out:
50 πάντες γὰρ αὐτὸν εἶδον καὶ ἐταράχθησαν. ⸂ὁ δὲ εὐθὺς ἐλάλησεν μετʼ αὐτῶν, καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Θαρσεῖτε, ἐγώ εἰμι, μὴ φοβεῖσθε.
for they all saw him, and were greatly agitated: and straitway he spoke to them, and said, Take courage, it is I, be not terrified.
51 καὶ ἀνέβη πρὸς αὐτοὺς εἰς τὸ πλοῖον, καὶ ἐκόπασεν ὁ ἄνεμος. καὶ λίαν ⸂ἐκ περισσοῦ ἐν ἑαυτοῖς ⸀ἐξίσταντο
And he went up to them into the vessel, and the wind ceased and they were beyond all imagination amazed in themselves, and lost in wonder.
52 οὐ γὰρ συνῆκαν ἐπὶ τοῖς ἄρτοις, ⸂ἀλλʼ ἦν αὐτῶν ἡ καρδία πεπωρωμένη.
For they reflected not upon the loaves, for their heart was hardened.
53 Καὶ διαπεράσαντες ⸂ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἦλθον εἰς Γεννησαρὲτ καὶ προσωρμίσθησαν.
And when they had passed over, they came to the land of Gennesareth, and went on shore.
54 καὶ ἐξελθόντων αὐτῶν ἐκ τοῦ πλοίου ⸀εὐθὺςἐπιγνόντες αὐτὸν
And when they came out of the vessel, immediately perceiving him,
55 ⸂περιέδραμον ὅλην τὴν χώραν ἐκείνην καὶ ἤρξαντο ἐπὶ τοῖς κραβάττοις τοὺς κακῶς ἔχοντας περιφέρειν ὅπου ἤκουον ⸀ὅτιἐστίν.
running through all parts of that country, they began to carry about on couches those who were afflicted with diseases, wherever they heard that he was.
56 καὶ ὅπου ἂν εἰσεπορεύετο εἰς κώμας ἢ ⸂εἰς πόλεις ἢ εἰς ἀγροὺς ἐν ταῖς ἀγοραῖς ⸀ἐτίθεσαντοὺς ἀσθενοῦντας, καὶ παρεκάλουν αὐτὸν ἵνα κἂν τοῦ κρασπέδου τοῦ ἱματίου αὐτοῦ ἅψωνται· καὶ ὅσοι ἂν ⸀ἥψαντοαὐτοῦ ἐσῴζοντο.
And wherever they entered into villages or cities, or country places, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch, if but the fringe on his garment; and as many as touched it, were cured.
