Ῥούθ 1
1 Και εν ταις ημέραις καθ' ας οι κριταί έκρινον, έγεινε πείνα εν τη γη. Και υπήγεν άνθρωπός τις από Βηθλεέμ Ιούδα να παροικήση εν γη Μωάβ, αυτός και η γυνή αυτού και οι δύο υιοί αυτού.
In the time that the Iudges ruled, there was a dearth in the lande, and a man of Beth-lehem Iudah went for to soiourne in the countrey of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sonnes.
2 Το δε όνομα του ανθρώπου ήτο Ελιμέλεχ, και το όνομα της γυναικός αυτού Ναομί, και το όνομα των δύο υιών αυτού Μααλών και Χελαιών, Εφραθαίοι εκ Βηθλεέμ Ιούδα. Και ήλθον εις γην Μωάβ και ήσαν εκεί.
And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife, Naomi: and the names of his two sonnes, Mahlon, and Chilion, Ephrathites of Beth-lehem Iudah: and when they came into the land of Moab, they continued there.
3 Και απέθανεν Ελιμέλεχ ο ανήρ της Ναομί· και έμεινεν αυτή και οι δύο υιοί αυτής.
Then Elimelech the husband of Naomi died, and she remayned with her two sonnes,
4 Και ούτοι έλαβον εις εαυτούς γυναίκας Μωαβίτιδας· το όνομα της μιας Ορφά και το όνομα της άλλης Ρούθ· και κατώκησαν εκεί έως δέκα έτη.
Which tooke them wiues of the Moabites: the ones name was Orpah, and the name of ye other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten yeeres.
5 Απέθανον δε αμφότεροι, ο Μααλών και ο Χελαιών· και εστερήθη η γυνή των δύο υιών αυτής και του ανδρός αυτής.
And Mahlon and Chilion dyed also both twaine: so the woman was left destitute of her two sonnes, and of her husband.
6 Τότε εσηκώθη αυτή και αι νύμφαι αυτής και επέστρεψαν εκ της γης Μωάβ· διότι ήκουσεν εν γη Μωάβ, ότι επεσκέφθη ο Κύριος τον λαόν αυτού δίδων εις αυτούς άρτον.
Then she arose with her daughters in law, and returned from the countrey of Moab: for she had heard say in the countrey of Moab, that the Lord had visited his people, and giuen them bread.
7 Και εξήλθεν εκ του τόπου όπου ήτο, και αι δύο νύμφαι αυτής μετ' αυτής και επορεύοντο την οδόν διά να επιστρέψωσιν εις γην Ιούδα.
Wherefore shee departed out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her, and they went on their way to returne vnto the land of Iudah.
8 Είπε δε η Ναομί προς τας δύο νύμφας αυτής, Υπάγετε, επιστρέψατε εκάστη εις τον οίκον της μητρός αυτής. Ο Κύριος να κάμη έλεος εις εσάς, καθώς σεις εκάμετε εις τους αποθανόντας και εις εμέ·
Then Naomi saide vnto her two daughters in lawe, Goe, returne eche of you vnto her owne mothers house: the Lord shew fauour vnto you, as ye haue done with the dead, and with me.
9 ο Κύριος να σας δώση να εύρητε ανάπαυσιν, εκάστη εν τω οίκω του ανδρός αυτής. Και εφίλησεν αυτάς· και αυταί ύψωσαν την φωνήν αυτών και έκλαυσαν.
The Lord graunt you, that you may finde rest, either of you in the house of her husband. And when she kissed them, they lift vp their voice and wept.
10 Και είπον προς αυτήν, Ουχί· αλλά μετά σου θέλομεν επιστρέψει εις τον λαόν σου.
And they saide vnto her, Surely we will returne with thee vnto thy people.
11 Και είπεν η Ναομί, Επιστρέψατε, θυγατέρες μου· διά τι να έλθητε μετ' εμού; μήπως έχω έτι υιούς εν τη κοιλία μου, διά να γείνωσιν άνδρες σας;
But Naomi saide, Turne againe, my daughters: for what cause will you go with me? are there any more sonnes in my wombe, that they may bee your husbands?
12 επιστρέψατε, θυγατέρες μου, υπάγετε· διότι εγήρασα και δεν είμαι διά άνδρα· εάν έλεγον, Έχω ελπίδα, εάν μάλιστα υπανδρευόμην ταύτην την νύκτα και εγέννων έτι υιούς,
Turne againe, my daughters: go your way: for I am too olde to haue an husband. If I should say, I haue hope, and if I had an husband this night: yea, if I had borne sonnes,
13 σεις ηθέλετε προσμένει αυτούς εωσού μεγαλώσωσιν; ηθέλετε δι' αυτούς αναβάλει το να υπανδρευθήτε; μη, θυγατέρες μου· επειδή επικράνθην πολύ πλέον παρά σεις, ότι η χειρ του Κυρίου εξήλθε κατ' εμού.
Would yee tarie for them, till they were of age? would ye be deferred for them from taking of husbands? nay my daughters: for it grieueth me much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord is gone out against me.
14 Εκείναι δε ύψωσαν την φωνήν αυτών και έκλαυσαν πάλιν· και κατεφίλησεν η Ορφά την πενθεράν αυτής· η δε Ρούθ επροσκολλήθη εις αυτήν.
Then they lift vp their voyce and wept againe, and Orpah kissed her mother in lawe, but Ruth abode still with her.
15 Και είπεν η Ναομί, Ιδού, η σύννυμφός σου επέστρεψε προς τον λαόν αυτής και προς τους θεούς αυτής· επίστρεψον και συ κατόπιν της συννύμφου σου.
And Naomi said, Beholde, thy sister in law is gone backe vnto her people and vnto her gods: returne thou after thy sister in lawe.
16 Αλλ' η Ρούθ είπε, Μη με ανάγκαζε να σε αφήσω, διά να αναχωρήσω απ' όπισθέν σου· διότι όπου αν συ υπάγης, και εγώ θέλω υπάγει· και όπου αν συ παραμείνης, και εγώ θέλω παραμείνει· ο λαός σου, λαός μου, και ο Θεός σου, Θεός μου·
And Ruth answered, Intreate mee not to leaue thee, nor to depart from thee: for whither thou goest, I will goe: and where thou dwellest, I will dwell: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.
17 όπου αν αποθάνης, θέλω αποθάνει και εκεί θέλω ταφή· ούτω να κάμη ο Κύριος εις εμέ και ούτω να προσθέση, εάν άλλο τι παρά τον θάνατον χωρίση εμέ από σου.
Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried. the Lord do so to me and more also, if ought but death depart thee and me.
18 Ιδούσα δε η Ναομί ότι αυτή διϊσχυρίζετο να υπάγη μετ' αυτής, έπαυσε να λαλή προς αυτήν.
Whe she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, she left speaking vnto her.
19 Περιεπάτησαν δε αμφότεραι, εωσού έφθασαν εις Βηθλεέμ. Και ότε έφθασαν εις Βηθλεέμ, πάσα η πόλις συνεκινήθη δι' αυτάς, και αι γυναίκες έλεγον, Αύτη είναι η Ναομί;
So they went both vntill they came to Beth-lehem: and when they were come to Beth-lehem, it was noysed of them through all the citie, and they said, Is not this Naomi?
20 Και αυτή είπε προς αυτάς, Μη με ονομάζετε Ναομί· ονομάζετέ με Μαρά· διότι ο Παντοδύναμος με επίκρανε σφόδρα·
And she answered them, Call me not Naomi, but call me Mara: for the Almightie hath giuen me much bitternes.
21 εγώ πλήρης ανεχώρησα, και κενήν επανήγαγέ με ο Κύριος· διά τι με ονομάζετε Ναομί, αφού ο Κύριος εμαρτύρησε κατ' εμού και ο Παντοδύναμος με κατέθλιψεν;
I went out full, and the Lord hath caused me to returne emptie: why call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath humbled me, and the Almightie hath brought me vnto aduersitie?
22 Επέστρεψε λοιπόν η Ναομί, και μετ' αυτής Ρούθ η Μωαβίτις η νύμφη αυτής ελθούσα εκ γης Μωάβ· και αύται έφθασαν εις Βηθλεέμ εν τη αρχή του θερισμού των κριθών.
So Naomi returned and Ruth the Moabitesse her daughter in law with her, when she came out of the countrey of Moab: and they came to Beth-lehem in the beginning of barly haruest.
