Ψαλμοί 53

1 «Εις τον πρώτον μουσικόν, επί Μαχαλάθ· Μασχίλ του Δαβίδ.» Είπεν ο άφρων εν τη καρδία αυτού, δεν υπάρχει Θεός. Διεφθάρησαν και έγειναν βδελυροί διά την ανομίαν· δεν υπάρχει πράττων αγαθόν.

To him that excelleth on Mahalath. A Psalme of David to give instruction. The foole hath saide in his heart, There is no God. they haue corrupted and done abominable wickednes: there is none that doeth good.

2 Ο Θεός εξ ουρανού διέκυψεν επί τους υιούς των ανθρώπων, διά να ίδη εάν ήναι τις έχων σύνεσιν, εκζητών τον Θεόν.

God looked downe from heauen vpon the children of men, to see if there were any that would vnderstand, and seeke God.

3 Πάντες εξέκλιναν· ομού εξηχρειώθησαν· δεν υπάρχει πράττων αγαθόν, δεν υπάρχει ουδέ εις.

Euery one is gone backe: they are altogether corrupt: there is none that doth good, no not one.

4 Δεν έχουσι γνώσιν οι εργαζόμενοι την ανομίαν, οι κατατρώγοντες τον λαόν μου ως βρώσιν άρτου; τον Θεόν δεν επεκαλέσθησαν.

Doe not the workers of iniquitie knowe that they eate vp my people as they eate bread? they call not vpon God.

5 Εκεί εφοβήθησαν φόβον, όπου δεν ήτο φόβος, διότι ο Θεός διεσκόρπισε τα οστά των στρατοπεδευόντων κατά σού· κατήσχυνας αυτούς, διότι ο Θεός κατεφρόνησεν αυτούς.

There they were afraide for feare, where no feare was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that besieged thee: thou hast put them to confusion, because God hath cast them off.

6 Τις θέλει δώσει εκ Σιών την σωτηρίαν του Ισραήλ; όταν ο Θεός επιστρέψη τον λαόν αυτού από της αιχμαλωσίας, θέλει αγάλλεσθαι ο Ιακώβ, θέλει ευφραίνεσθαι ο Ισραήλ.

Oh giue saluation vnto Israel out of Zion: when God turneth the captiuitie of his people, then Iaakob shall reioyce, and Israel shalbe glad.
