Παροιμίαι 15
1 Η γλυκεία απόκρισις καταπραΰνει θυμόν· αλλ' ο λυπηρός λόγος διεγείρει οργήν.
A soft answer turneth away wrath; But harsh words stir up anger.
2 Η γλώσσα των σοφών καλλωπίζει την γνώσιν· το στόμα δε των αφρόνων εξερεύγεται μωρίαν.
The tongue of the wise maketh knowledge pleasing; But the mouth of fools poureth forth folly.
3 Οι οφθαλμοί του Κυρίου είναι εν παντί τόπω, παρατηρούντες κακούς και αγαθούς.
The eyes of the LORD are in every place; They behold the evil and the good.
4 Η υγιαίνουσα γλώσσα είναι δένδρον ζωής· η δε διεστραμμένη, σύντριψις εις το πνεύμα.
A mild tongue is a tree of life; But perverseness therein is a wound in the spirit.
5 Ο άφρων καταφρονεί την διδασκαλίαν του πατρός αυτού· ο δε φυλάττων έλεγχον είναι φρόνιμος.
The fool despiseth the correction of his father; But he that regardeth reproof is prudent.
6 Εν τω οίκω του δικαίου είναι θησαυρός πολύς· εις δε το εισόδημα του ασεβούς διασκορπισμός.
In the house of the righteous is much wealth; But in the revenues of the wicked there is trouble.
7 Τα χείλη των σοφών διαδίδουσι γνώσιν· αλλ' η καρδία των αφρόνων δεν είναι ούτως.
The lips of the wise spread abroad knowledge; But the heart of the foolish is not sound.
8 Η θυσία των ασεβών είναι βδέλυγμα εις τον Κύριον· αλλ' η δέησις των ευθέων ευπρόσδεκτος εις αυτόν.
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD; But the prayer of the righteous is his delight.
9 Βδέλυγμα είναι εις τον Κύριον η οδός του ασεβούς· αγαπά δε τον θηρεύοντα την δικαιοσύνην.
The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD; But him who followeth after righteousness he loveth.
10 Η διδασκαλία είναι δυσάρεστος εις τον εγκαταλείποντα την οδόν· ο μισών τον έλεγχον θέλει τελευτήσει.
Sore chastisement shall be to him that forsaketh the way; He that hateth reproof shall die.
11 Ο άδης και η απώλεια είναι έμπροσθεν του Κυρίου· πόσω μάλλον αι καρδίαι των υιών των ανθρώπων; (Sheol h7585)
The underworld, yea, the region of death, is before the LORD; How much more the hearts of the sons of men! (Sheol h7585)
12 Ο χλευαστής δεν αγαπά τον ελέγχοντα αυτόν, ουδέ θέλει υπάγει προς τους σοφούς.
The scoffer loveth not his reprover; He will not resort to the wise.
13 Καρδία ευφραινομένη ιλαρύνει το πρόσωπον· υπό δε της λύπης της καρδίας καταθλίβεται το πνεύμα.
A joyous heart maketh a bright countenance; But by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
14 Η καρδία του συνετού ζητεί γνώσιν· το δε στόμα των αφρόνων βόσκει μωρίαν.
The heart of the man of understanding seeketh knowledge; But the mouth of fools feedeth on folly.
15 Πάσαι αι ημέραι του τεθλιμμένου είναι κακαί· ο δε ευφραινόμενος την καρδίαν έχει ευωχίαν παντοτεινήν.
The days of the afflicted are all evil; But he that hath a cheerful heart hath a continual feast.
16 Καλήτερον το ολίγον εν φόβω Κυρίου, παρά θησαυροί πολλοί και ταραχή εν αυτοίς.
Better is a little, with the fear of the LORD, Than much treasure, and trouble therewith.
17 Καλήτερον ξενισμός λαχάνων μετά αγάπης, παρά μόσχος σιτευτός μετά μίσους.
Better is a dinner of herbs, where there is love, Than a fatted ox, and hatred therewith.
18 Ο θυμώδης άνθρωπος διεγείρει μάχας· ο δε μακρόθυμος καταπαύει έριδας.
The passionate man stirreth up strife; But he who is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
19 Η οδός του οκνηρού είναι ως πεφραγμένη από ακάνθας· αλλ' η οδός των ευθέων είναι εξωμαλισμένη.
The way of the slothful is as a hedge of thorns; But the way of the righteous is a highway.
20 Υιός σοφός ευφραίνει πατέρα· ο δε μωρός άνθρωπος καταφρονεί την μητέρα αυτού.
A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish man despiseth his mother.
21 Η μωρία είναι χαρά εις τον ενδεή φρενών· ο δε συνετός άνθρωπος περιπατεί ορθώς.
Folly is joy to him who lacketh wisdom; But the man of understanding walketh uprightly.
22 Όπου συμβούλιον δεν υπάρχει, οι σκοποί ματαιόνονται· εν δε τω πλήθει των συμβούλων στερεόνονται.
Without counsel, plans come to nought; But with a multitude of counsellors they are established.
23 Χαρά εις τον άνθρωπον διά την απόκρισιν του στόματος αυτού, και λόγος εν καιρώ, πόσον καλός είναι.
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth; And a word in due season, how good it is!
24 Η οδός της ζωής εις τον συνετόν είναι προς τα άνω, διά να εκκλίνη από του άδου κάτω. (Sheol h7585)
The path of life is upward for the wise, So that he turneth away from the underworld beneath. (Sheol h7585)
25 Ο Κύριος καταστρέφει τον οίκον των υπερηφάνων· στερεόνει δε το όριον της χήρας.
The LORD destroyeth the house of the proud; But he will establish the border of the widow.
26 Οι λογισμοί του πονηρού είναι βδέλυγμα εις τον Κύριον· των δε καθαρών οι λόγοι ευάρεστοι.
Evil devices are an abomination to the LORD; But pleasant words are pure.
27 Ο δωρολήπτης ταράττει τον οίκον αυτού· αλλ' όστις μισεί τα δώρα θέλει ζήσει.
He who is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; But he who hateth bribes shall live.
28 Η καρδία του δικαίου προμελετά διά να αποκριθή· το δε στόμα των ασεβών εξερεύγεται κακά.
The heart of the righteous meditateth on his answer; But the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
29 Ο Κύριος είναι μακράν από των ασεβών· εισακούει δε της δεήσεως των δικαίων.
The LORD is far from the wicked: But he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
30 Το φως των οφθαλμών ευφραίνει την καρδίαν· και η καλή φήμη παχύνει τα οστά.
The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart, And good tidings make the bones fat.
31 Το ωτίον, το οποίον ακούει τον έλεγχον της ζωής, διατρίβει μεταξύ των σοφών.
The ear that hearkeneth to the reproof of life Shall dwell among the wise.
32 Όστις απωθεί την διδασκαλίαν, αποστρέφεται την ψυχήν αυτού· αλλ' όστις ακούει τον έλεγχον, αποκτά σύνεσιν.
He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own life; But he that hearkeneth to rebuke getteth understanding.
33 Ο φόβος του Κυρίου είναι διδασκαλία σοφίας· και η ταπείνωσις προπορεύεται της δόξης.
The fear of the LORD guideth to wisdom, And before honor is humility.
