Κατα Ματθαιον 12
1 Εν εκείνω τω καιρώ επορεύετο ο Ιησούς διά των σπαρτών εν σαββάτω· οι δε μαθηταί αυτού επείνασαν και ήρχισαν να ανασπώσιν αστάχυα και να τρώγωσιν.
About this time as Jesus passed through the cornfields on the sabbath-day, his disciples being hungry began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat them.
2 Οι δε Φαρισαίοι ιδόντες είπον προς αυτόν· Ιδού, οι μαθηταί σου πράττουσιν ό, τι δεν συγχωρείται να πράττηται το σάββατον.
And when the pharisees saw it they said to Him, See, thy disciples are doing what is not lawful for them to do on the sabbath.
3 Ο δε είπε προς αυτούς· Δεν ανεγνώσατε τι έπραξεν ο Δαβίδ ότε επείνασεν αυτός και οι μετ' αυτού;
But He replied, Have ye not read what David did, when he, and his attendants, were hungry? how he went into the house of God,
4 πως εισήλθεν εις τον οίκον του Θεού και έφαγε τους άρτους της προθέσεως, τους οποίους δεν ήτο συγκεχωρημένον εις αυτόν να φάγη, ούτε εις τους μετ' αυτού, ειμή εις τους ιερείς μόνους;
and did eat the shew-bread, which it was not lawful for him to eat, nor those that were with him; but for the priests only? or have ye not read in the law,
5 Η δεν ανεγνώσατε εν τω νόμω ότι εν τοις σάββασιν οι ιερείς βεβηλόνουσι το σάββατον εν τω ιερώ και είναι αθώοι;
what profane sort of work the priests do in the temple on the sabbath-days, and yet are blameless?
6 Σας λέγω δε ότι εδώ είναι μεγαλήτερος του ιερού.
But I tell you, that a greater than the temple is here:
7 Εάν όμως εγνωρίζετε τι είναι Έλεον θέλω και ουχί θυσίαν, δεν ηθέλετε καταδικάσει τους αθώους.
and if ye had known what that scripture means, "I desire mercy rather than sacrifice," ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
8 Διότι ο Υιός του ανθρώπου είναι κύριος και του σαββάτου.
For the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath.
9 Και μεταβάς εκείθεν ήλθεν εις την συναγωγήν αυτών.
And he went away and came into their synagogue: and there being a man there who had a withered hand,
10 Και ιδού, ήτο άνθρωπος έχων την χείρα ξηράν· και ηρώτησαν αυτόν λέγοντες· Συγχωρείται τάχα να θεραπεύη τις εν τω σαββάτω; διά να κατηγορήσωσιν αυτόν.
they asked Him, if it were lawful to heal on the sabbath-days? that they might accuse Him.
11 Ο δε είπε προς αυτούς· Τις άνθρωπος από σας θέλει είσθαι, όστις έχων πρόβατον εν, εάν τούτο πέση εν τω σαββάτω εις λάκκον, δεν θέλει πιάσει και σηκώσει αυτό;
But He said unto them, What man of you shall have one of his sheep fall into a pit on the sabbath-day, and will not lay hold of it and lift it out?
12 πόσον λοιπόν διαφέρει άνθρωπος προβάτου; ώστε συγχωρείται εν τω σαββάτω να αγαθοποιή τις.
And of how much more worth is a man than a sheep? Sure then it is lawful to do good on the sabbath-days.
13 Τότε λέγει προς τον άνθρωπον· Έκτεινον την χείρα σου· και εξέτεινε, και αποκατεστάθη υγιής ως η άλλη.
Then saith He to the man, Stretch out thine hand: and he stretched it out, and it was made sound like the other.
14 Οι δε Φαρισαίοι εξελθόντες συνεβουλεύθησαν κατ' αυτού, διά να απολέσωσιν αυτόν.
But the pharisees went out of the synagogue and took counsel together against Him, how they might destroy Him:
15 Αλλ' ο Ιησούς νοήσας ανεχώρησεν εκείθεν· και ηκολούθησαν αυτόν όχλοι πολλοί, και εθεράπευσεν αυτούς πάντας.
but Jesus knew it, and withdrew from thence; and great multitudes followed Him with their sick,
16 Και παρήγγειλεν εις αυτούς αυστηρώς διά να μη φανερώσωσιν αυτόν,
and he healed them all, charging them not to make Him known:
17 διά να πληρωθή το ρηθέν διά Ησαΐου του προφήτου, λέγοντος·
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Behold my servant whom I have chosen,
18 Ιδού, ο δούλός μου, τον οποίον εξέλεξα, ο αγαπητός μου, εις τον οποίον η ψυχή μου ευηρεστήθη· θέλω θέσει το Πνεύμα μου επ' αυτόν, και θέλει εξαγγείλει κρίσιν εις τα έθνη·
my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon Him, and He shall declare judgement to the nations: He shall not contend,
19 δεν θέλει αντιλογήσει ουδέ κραυγάσει, ουδέ θέλει ακούσει τις την φωνήν αυτού εν ταις πλατείαις.
nor cry aloud, nor shall any one hear his voice in the streets:
20 Κάλαμον συντετριμμένον δεν θέλει θλάσει και λινάριον καπνίζον δεν θέλει σβέσει, εωσού εκφέρη εις νίκην την κρίσιν·
a bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax he will not extinguish, till He send forth judgement victorious.
21 Και εν τω ονόματι αυτού θέλουσιν ελπίσει τα έθνη.
And in his name shall the Gentiles hope.
22 Τότε εφέρθη προς αυτόν δαιμονιζόμενος τυφλός και κωφός, και εθεράπευσεν αυτόν, ώστε ο τυφλός και κωφός και ελάλει και έβλεπε.
Then was brought to Him a demoniac, who was blind and dumb; and he healed Him, so that the blind and dumb man both spake and saw:
23 Και εξεπλήττοντο πάντες οι όχλοι και έλεγον· Μήπως είναι ούτος ο υιός του Δαβίδ;
and all the multitudes were amazed, and said, "Is not this the Son of David?"
24 Οι δε Φαρισαίοι ακούσαντες είπον· Ούτος δεν εκβάλλει τα δαιμόνια ειμή διά του Βεελζεβούλ, του άρχοντος των δαιμονίων.
which the pharisees hearing, said, "He only casts out demons by the help of Beelzebub the prince of the devils."
25 Νοήσας δε ο Ιησούς τους διαλογισμούς αυτών, είπε προς αυτούς· Πάσα βασιλεία διαιρεθείσα καθ' εαυτής ερημούται, και πάσα πόλις ή οικία διαιρεθείσα καθ' εαυτής δεν θέλει σταθή.
But Jesus, who well knew their thoughts, said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself becomes desolate; and no city, or family, divided against itself can stand:
26 Και αν ο Σατανάς τον Σατανάν εκβάλλη, διηρέθη καθ' εαυτού· πως λοιπόν θέλει σταθή η βασιλεία αυτού;
if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand?
27 Και αν εγώ διά του Βεελζεβούλ εκβάλλω τα δαιμόνια, οι υιοί σας διά τίνος εκβάλλουσι; διά τούτο αυτοί θέλουσιν είσθαι κριταί σας.
And if I cast out demons by the power of Beelzebub, by whom do your own people cast them out? wherefore they shall be your judges:
28 Αλλ' εάν εγώ διά Πνεύματος Θεού εκβάλλω τα δαιμόνια, άρα έφθασεν εις εσάς η βασιλεία του Θεού.
but if I by the Spirit of God cast out devils, then certainly the kingdom of God is come unto you.
29 Η πως δύναταί τις να εισέλθη εις την οικίαν του δυνατού και να διαρπάση τα σκεύη αυτού, εάν πρώτον δεν δέση τον δυνατόν; και τότε θέλει διαρπάσει την οικίαν αυτού.
Or, how can any one enter into the house of a strong man, and take away his goods, unless he first overpower the strong man? and then indeed he may strip his house.
30 Όστις δεν είναι μετ' εμού είναι κατ' εμού, και όστις δεν συνάγει μετ' εμού σκορπίζει.
He that is not with me, is against me; and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth.
31 Διά τούτο σας λέγω, Πάσα αμαρτία και βλασφημία θέλει συγχωρηθή εις τους ανθρώπους, η κατά του Πνεύματος όμως βλασφημία δεν θέλει συγχωρηθή εις τους ανθρώπους·
Wherefore, I tell you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven to men; but the blasphemy against the holy Spirit shall not be forgiven them:
32 και όστις είπη λόγον κατά του Υιού του ανθρώπου, θέλει συγχωρηθή εις αυτόν· όστις όμως είπη κατά του Πνεύματος του Αγίου, δεν θέλει συγχωρηθή εις αυτόν ούτε εν τούτω τω αιώνι ούτε εν τω μέλλοντι. (aiōn g165)
and if any one speak against the Son of man, it may be forgiven him: but if any one speak against the holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this life, nor in that to come. (aiōn g165)
33 Η κάμετε το δένδρον καλόν, και τον καρπόν αυτού καλόν, ή κάμετε το δένδρον σαπρόν, και τον καρπόν αυτού σαπρόν· διότι εκ του καρπού γνωρίζεται το δένδρον.
Either allow the tree to be good, and it's fruit good; or shew the tree to be corrupt, and it's fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by it's fruit.
34 Γεννήματα εχιδνών, πως δύνασθε να λαλήτε καλά όντες πονηροί; διότι εκ του περισσεύματος της καρδίας λαλεί το στόμα.
O race of vipers, how can ye speak good things, who are yourselves so wicked? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35 Ο καλός άνθρωπος εκ του καλού θησαυρού της καρδίας εκβάλλει τα καλά, και ο πονηρός άνθρωπος εκ του πονηρού θησαυρού εκβάλλει πονηρά.
A good man out of the good treasure of the heart produceth good things; and a wicked man out of the wicked treasure uttereth wicked things:
36 Σας λέγω δε ότι διά πάντα λόγον αργόν, τον οποίον ήθελον λαλήσει οι άνθρωποι, θέλουσιν αποδώσει λόγον δι' αυτόν εν ημέρα κρίσεως.
but I tell you, that of every idle word, which men shall speak, they shall give an account in the day of judgement; for by thy words thou shalt be justified,
37 Διότι εκ των λόγων σου θέλεις δικαιωθή, και εκ των λόγων σου θέλεις καταδικασθή.
and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
38 Τότε απεκρίθησάν τινές των γραμματέων και Φαρισαίων, λέγοντες· Διδάσκαλε, θέλομεν να ίδωμεν σημείον από σου.
Then some of the scribes and pharisees answered Him, saying, Master, we should be glad to see a sign from thee:
39 Εκείνος δε αποκριθείς είπε προς αυτούς· Γενεά πονηρά και μοιχαλίς σημείον ζητεί, και σημείον δεν θέλει δοθή εις αυτήν ειμή το σημείον Ιωνά του προφήτου.
but He replied and said unto them, This wicked and degenerate race demand a sign; but no sign shall be given them, except that of the prophet Jonah:
40 Διότι ως ο Ιωνάς ήτο εν τη κοιλία του κήτους τρεις ημέρας και τρεις νύκτας, ούτω θέλει είσθαι ο Υιός του ανθρώπου εν τη καρδία της γης τρεις ημέρας και τρεις νύκτας.
for as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly, so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
41 Άνδρες Νινευίται θέλουσιν αναστηθή εν τη κρίσει μετά της γενεάς ταύτης και θέλουσι κατακρίνει αυτήν, διότι μετενόησαν εις το κήρυγμα του Ιωνά, και ιδού, πλειότερον του Ιωνά είναι εδώ.
So that the men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgement against this generation, and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold a greater than Jonas is here.
42 Η βασίλισσα του νότου θέλει σηκωθή εν τη κρίσει μετά της γενεάς ταύτης και θέλει κατακρίνει αυτήν, διότι ήλθεν εκ των περάτων της γης διά να ακούση την σοφίαν του Σολομώντος, και ιδού, πλειότερον του Σολομώντος είναι εδώ.
The queen of the South too, shall rise up in the day of judgement against this generation, and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold a greater than Solomon is here.
43 Όταν δε το ακάθαρτον πνεύμα εξέλθη από του ανθρώπου, διέρχεται δι' ανύδρων τόπων και ζητεί ανάπαυσιν και δεν ευρίσκει.
Now when an impure spirit is gone out of a man, he wanders through dry desert places, seeking rest, and findeth none:
44 Τότε λέγει· Ας επιστρέψω εις τον οίκόν μου, όθεν εξήλθον· και ελθόν ευρίσκει αυτόν κενόν, σεσαρωμένον και εστολισμένον.
then saith he, I will return into my house, that I came out of; and when he cometh, he findeth it empty, swept, and set off to advantage:
45 Τότε υπάγει και παραλαμβάνει μεθ' εαυτού επτά άλλα πνεύματα πονηρότερα εαυτού, και εισελθόντα κατοικούσιν εκεί, και γίνονται τα έσχατα του ανθρώπου εκείνου χειρότερα των πρώτων. Ούτω θέλει είσθαι και εις την γενεάν ταύτην την πονηράν.
then he goeth and taketh with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there; and so the last state of that man is worse than the first. And thus shall it be to this wicked generation.
46 Ενώ δε αυτός ελάλει έτι προς τους όχλους, ιδού, η μήτηρ και οι αδελφοί αυτού ίσταντο έξω, ζητούντες να λαλήσωσι προς αυτόν.
Now as He was yet discoursing to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, and desired to speak to Him:
47 Είπε δε τις προς αυτόν· Ιδού, η μήτηρ σου και οι αδελφοί σου ίστανται έξω, ζητούντες να λαλήσωσι προς σε.
and somebody said to Him, "Here are thy mother and thy brethren standing without, desiring to speak to thee."
48 Ο δε αποκριθείς προς τον ειπόντα τούτο προς αυτόν είπε· Τις είναι η μήτηρ μου και τίνες είναι οι αδελφοί μου;
But in answer to him that told Him, He said, "Who is my mother, and who are my brethren?"
49 Και εκτείνας την χείρα αυτού προς τους μαθητάς αυτού είπεν· Ιδού η μήτηρ μου και οι αδελφοί μου.
and stretching out his hand towards his disciples, He said, "Behold my mother and my brethren:"
50 Διότι όστις κάμη το θέλημα του Πατρός μου του εν ουρανοίς, αυτός μου είναι αδελφός και αδελφή και μήτηρ.
for whosoever doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is to me as my brother and sister and mother.
