Κατα Μαρκον 8
1 Εν εκείναις ταις ημέραις, επειδή ήτο πάμπολυς όχλος και δεν είχον τι να φάγωσι, προσκαλέσας ο Ιησούς τους μαθητάς αυτού λέγει προς αυτούς·
IN those days the multitude being exceedingly great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus calling his disciples to him, said unto them,
2 Σπλαγχνίζομαι διά τον όχλον, ότι τρεις ήδη ημέρας μένουσι πλησίον μου και δεν έχουσι τι να φάγωσι·
I have compassion on the multitude, for they have stayed with me already three days, and have nothing to eat:
3 και εάν απολύσω αυτούς νήστεις εις τους οίκους αυτών, θέλουσιν αποκάμει καθ' οδόν· διότι τινές εξ αυτών ήλθον μακρόθεν.
and if I send them away fasting to their houses, they will faint on the road; for many of them came from a great distance.
4 Και απεκρίθησαν προς αυτόν οι μαθηταί αυτού· Πόθεν θέλει τις δυνηθή να χορτάση τούτους από άρτων εδώ επί της ερημίας;
His disciples answered him, Whence can a man here in the desert satisfy these with bread?
5 Και ηρώτησεν αυτούς· Πόσους άρτους έχετε; Οι δε είπον· Επτά.
And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
6 Και προσέταξε τον όχλον να καθήσωσιν επί της γής· και λαβών τους επτά άρτους, αφού ευχαρίστησεν, έκοψε και έδιδεν εις τους μαθητάς αυτού διά να βάλωσιν έμπροσθεν του όχλου· και έβαλον.
And he commanded the multitude to recline in order on the ground: and taking the seven loaves, having given thanks he brake them, and gave to his disciples, that they should set before the people; and they distributed them to the multitude.
7 Είχον και ολίγα οψαράκια· και ευλογήσας είπε να βάλωσι και αυτά.
And they had a few small fishes; and blessing, he commanded to set these also before them.
8 Έφαγον δε και εχορτάσθησαν, και εσήκωσαν περισσεύματα κλασμάτων επτά σπυρίδας.
And they did eat and were filled and they took up what remained of the fragments, seven baskets.
9 Ήσαν δε οι φαγόντες ως τετρακισχίλιοι· και απέλυσεν αυτούς.
And the persons who had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.
10 Και ευθύς εμβάς εις το πλοίον μετά των μαθητών αυτού, ήλθεν εις τα μέρη Δαλμανουθά.
And immediately going into the vessel with his disciples, he came into the coasts of Dalmanutha.
11 Και εξήλθον οι Φαρισαίοι και ήρχισαν να κάμνωσιν ερωτήσεις προς αυτόν, και εζήτουν παρ' αυτού σημείον από του ουρανού, πειράζοντες αυτόν.
Then the Pharisees came out, and began to question him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.
12 Τότε αναστενάξας εκ καρδίας αυτού, λέγει· Διά τι η γενεά αύτη σημείον ζητεί; αληθώς σας λέγω, δεν θέλει δοθή εις την γενεάν ταύτην σημείον.
And fetching a deep sigh from his very soul, he saith, Why seeketh this generation a sign? verily I tell you, no sign shall be given to this generation.
13 Και αφήσας αυτούς εισήλθε πάλιν εις το πλοίον και απήλθεν εις το πέραν.
And leaving them, going again on board the vessel, he departed to the other side.
14 Ελησμόνησαν δε να λάβωσιν άρτους και δεν είχον μεθ' εαυτών εν τω πλοίω ειμή ένα άρτον.
And they had forgotten to take bread, and had not with them in the vessel but a single loaf.
15 Και παρήγγελλεν εις αυτούς, λέγων· Βλέπετε, προσέχετε από της ζύμης των Φαρισαίων και της ζύμης του Ηρώδου.
And he earnestly charged them, saying, Beware, take heed of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.
16 Και διελογίζοντο προς αλλήλους, λέγοντες ότι άρτους δεν έχομεν.
And they talked the matter over among themselves, saying, This is because we have no loaves of bread.
17 Νοήσας δε ο Ιησούς, λέγει προς αυτούς· Τι διαλογίζεσθε ότι δεν έχετε άρτους; έτι δεν νοείτε ουδέ καταλαμβάνετε; έτι πεπωρωμένην έχετε την καρδίαν σας;
And Jesus knowing it said unto them, Why reason ye together, because ye have no loaves? Do ye not yet consider, nor understand? Have ye your heart yet hardened?
18 οφθαλμούς έχοντες δεν βλέπετε, και ώτα έχοντες δεν ακούετε; και δεν ενθυμείσθε;
Having eyes, do ye not see? and having ears, do ye not hear? and do ye not remember?
19 ότε έκοψα τους πέντε άρτους εις τους πεντακισχιλίους, πόσους κοφίνους πλήρεις κλασμάτων εσηκώσατε; Λέγουσι προς αυτόν· δώδεκα.
When I broke the five loaves among the five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.
20 Και ότε τους επτά εις τους τετρακισχιλίους, πόσας σπυρίδας πλήρεις κλασμάτων εσηκώσατε; Οι δε είπον· Επτά.
And when the seven loaves among the four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They said, Seven.
21 Και έλεγε προς αυτούς· Πως δεν καταλαμβάνετε;
And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?
22 Και έρχεται εις Βηθσαϊδάν. Και φέρουσι προς αυτόν τυφλόν και παρακαλούσιν αυτόν να εγγίση αυτόν.
And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring him a blind man, and entreat him that he would touch him.
23 Και πιάσας την χείρα του τυφλού, έφερεν αυτόν έξω της κώμης και πτύσας εις τα όμματα αυτού, επέθεσεν επ' αυτόν τας χείρας και ηρώτα αυτόν αν βλέπη τι.
And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him without the city; and spitting on his eyes, he laid his hands upon him, and asked him if he saw aught.
24 Και αναβλέψας έλεγε· Βλέπω τους ανθρώπους, ό,τι ως δένδρα βλέπω περιπατούντας.
And looking up, he said, I see men walking, as trees.
25 Έπειτα πάλιν επέθεσε τας χείρας επί τους οφθαλμούς αυτού και έκαμεν αυτόν να αναβλέψη, και αποκατεστάθη η όρασις αυτού, και είδε καθαρώς άπαντας.
Then again he put his hands upon his eyes, and made him look up again: and he was entirely restored, and saw all men distinctly.
26 Και απέστειλεν αυτόν εις τον οίκον αυτού, λέγων· Μηδέ εις την κώμην εισέλθης μηδέ είπης τούτο εις τινά εν τη κώμη.
And he sent him away unto his own house, saying, Neither enter thou into the city, nor speak to any in the city.
27 Και εξήλθεν ο Ιησούς και οι μαθηταί αυτού εις τας κώμας της Καισαρείας Φιλίππου· και καθ' οδόν ηρώτα τους μαθητάς αυτού, λέγων προς αυτούς· Τίνα με λέγουσιν οι άνθρωποι ότι είμαι;
And Jesus and his disciples went out into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and on the road he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Who do men say that I am?
28 Οι δε απεκρίθησαν· Ιωάννην τον Βαπτιστήν, και άλλοι τον Ηλίαν, άλλοι δε ένα των προφητών.
And they answered, John the Baptist: others say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.
29 Και αυτός λέγει προς αυτούς· Αλλά σεις τίνα με λέγετε ότι είμαι; Και αποκριθείς ο Πέτρος, λέγει προς αυτόν· Συ είσαι ο Χριστός.
And he said unto them, But who do ye say that I am? Then Peter answering, said unto him, Thou art the Messiah.
30 Και παρήγγειλεν αυστηρώς εις αυτούς να μη λέγωσιν εις μηδένα περί αυτού.
And he strictly enjoined them, that they should tell no man of this.
31 Και ήρχισε να διδάσκη αυτούς ότι πρέπει ο Υιός του ανθρώπου να πάθη πολλά, και να καταφρονηθή από των πρεσβυτέρων και αρχιερέων και γραμματέων, και να θανατωθή, και μετά τρεις ημέρας να αναστηθή·
And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and be slain, and after three days rise again.
32 και ελάλει τον λόγον παρρησία. Και παραλαβών αυτόν ο Πέτρος κατ' ιδίαν, ήρχισε να επιτιμά αυτόν.
And he spake this saying openly. And Peter taking him aside, began to remonstrate with him.
33 Ο δε επιστραφείς και ιδών τους μαθητάς αυτού, επετίμησε τον Πέτρον λέγων· Ύπαγε οπίσω μου, Σατανά· διότι δεν φρονείς τα του Θεού, αλλά τα των ανθρώπων.
But he turned himself around, and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou dost not relish the things which are of God, but those that are of men.
34 Και προσκαλέσας τον όχλον μετά των μαθητών αυτού, είπε προς αυτούς· Όστις θέλει να έλθη οπίσω μου, ας απαρνηθή εαυτόν και ας σηκώση τον σταυρόν αυτού, και ας με ακολουθή.
Then calling to him the multitude, with his disciples, he said to them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
35 Διότι όστις θέλει να σώση την ζωήν αυτού, θέλει απολέσει αυτήν· και όστις απολέση την ζωήν αυτού ένεκεν εμού και του ευαγγελίου, ούτος θέλει σώσει αυτήν.
For whosoever would preserve his life shall lose it; but whosoever would lose his life for my sake and the Gospel, he shall preserve it.
36 Επειδή τι θέλει ωφελήσει τον άνθρωπον, εάν κερδήση τον κόσμον όλον και ζημιωθή την ψυχήν αυτού;
For what would it profit a man, though he should gain the whole world, if he be punished with the loss of his own soul?
37 Η τι θέλει δώσει ο άνθρωπος εις ανταλλαγήν της ψυχής αυτού;
Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
38 Διότι όστις αισχυνθή δι' εμέ και διά τους λόγους μου εν τη γενεά ταύτη τη μοιχαλίδι και αμαρτωλώ, και ο Υιός του ανθρώπου θέλει αισχυνθή δι' αυτόν, όταν έλθη εν τη δόξη του Πατρός αυτού μετά των αγγέλων.
For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, before this adulterous and sinful generation; of him will the Son of man also be ashamed, when he shall come in the glory of his Father, with the holy angels.
