Μαλαχίας 2

1 Και τώρα εις εσάς γίνεται η εντολή αύτη, ιερείς.

And now, this commandment is for you, O ye priests.

2 Εάν δεν ακούσητε και εάν δεν βάλητε τούτο εις την καρδίαν, διά να δώσητε δόξαν εις το όνομά μου, λέγει ο Κύριος των δυνάμεων, τότε θέλω εξαποστείλει την κατάραν εφ' υμάς και θέλω επικαταρασθή τας ευλογίας σας· ναι, μάλιστα και κατηράσθην αυτάς, διότι δεν βάλλετε τούτο εις την καρδίαν σας.

If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts: I will even send out against you a curse, and I will curse your blessings; yea, I will curse the same, because ye do not lay it to heart.

3 Ιδού, εγώ θέλω απορρίψει τα σπέρματά σας και θέλω σκορπίσει κόπρον επί τα πρόσωπά σας, την κόπρον των εορτών σας· και θέλει σας σηκώσει μεθ' εαυτής.

Behold, I will destroy unto you the seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your festive offerings; and one shall take you away with it.

4 Και θέλετε γνωρίσει ότι εγώ εξαπέστειλα την εντολήν ταύτην προς εσάς, διά να ήναι η διαθήκη μου μετά του Λευΐ, λέγει ο Κύριος των δυνάμεων.

And ye shall thereby know that I have sent out unto you this commandment, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the Lord of hosts.

5 Η της ζωής και της ειρήνης διαθήκη μου ήτο μετ' αυτού· και έδωκα αυτάς εις αυτόν διά τον φόβον, τον οποίον με εφοβείτο και ευλαβείτο το όνομά μου.

My covenant was with him life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and because of my name he had dread.

6 Ο νόμος της αληθείας ήτο εν τω στόματι αυτού και ανομία δεν ευρέθη εν τοις χείλεσιν αυτού· περιεπάτησε μετ' εμού εν ειρήνη και ευθύτητι και πολλούς επέστρεψεν από ανομίας.

The law of truth was in his mouth, and falsehood was not found on his lips: in peace and equity he walked with me, and many did he turn away from iniquity.

7 Επειδή τα χείλη του ιερέως θέλουσι φυλάττει γνώσιν, και εκ του στόματος αυτού θέλουσι ζητήσει νόμον· διότι αυτός είναι άγγελος του Κυρίου των δυνάμεων.

For the priest's lips are ever to keep knowledge, and the law are they to seek from his mouth; for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.

8 Αλλά σεις εξεκλίνατε από της οδού· εκάμετε πολλούς να προσκόπτωσιν εις τον νόμον· διεφθείρατε την διαθήκην του Λευΐ, λέγει ο Κύριος των δυνάμεων.

But ye are indeed departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble in the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of the Levite, saith the Lord of hosts.

9 Διά τούτο και εγώ σας κατέστησα καταφρονητούς και εξουδενωμένους εις πάντα τον λαόν, καθότι δεν εφυλάξατε τας οδούς μου αλλ' ήσθε προσωπολήπται εις τον νόμον.

Therefore have I also made you contemptible and low before all the people, in the same measure as ye do not keep my ways, but act with partiality in the law.

10 Δεν είναι εις ο πατήρ πάντων ημών; δεν έπλασεν ημάς εις Θεός; διά τι δολιευόμεθα έκαστος κατά του αδελφού αυτού, βεβηλούντες την διαθήκην των πατέρων ημών;

Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? [then] why shall we deal treacherously every man against his brother, to profane the covenant of our fathers?

11 Ο Ιούδας εφέρθη δολίως και επράχθη βδέλυγμα εν Ισραήλ και εν Ιερουσαλήμ· διότι εβεβήλωσεν ο Ιούδας το άγιον του Κυρίου, το οποίον ηγάπησε, και ενυμφεύθη θυγατέρα θεού αλλοτρίου.

Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination hath been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the sanctuary of the Lord which he loveth, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.

12 Ο Κύριος θέλει εξολοθρεύσει εκ των σκηνωμάτων του Ιακώβ τον άνθρωπον τον πράττοντα τούτο, τον σκοπόν και τον αποκρινόμενον και τον προσφέροντα προσφοράν εις τον Κύριον των δυνάμεων.

The Lord will cut off unto the man that doth this, son and grandson, out of the tents of Jacob, and him that bringeth near an offering unto the Lord of hosts.

13 Εκάμετε ότι και τούτο· εκαλύπτετε το θυσιαστήριον του Κυρίου με δάκρυα, με κλαυθμόν και με στεναγμούς· όθεν δεν αποβλέπει πλέον εις την προσφοράν και δεν δέχεται αυτήν με ευαρέστησιν εκ της χειρός σας.

And this do ye secondly, covering the altar of the Lord with tears, with weeping and with loud complaint, so that he turneth not any more his regard to the offerings, nor receiveth it with favor at your hand.

14 Και λέγετε, Διά τι; Διότι ο Κύριος εστάθη μάρτυς μεταξύ σου και της γυναικός της νεότητός σου, προς την οποίαν συ εφέρθης δολίως· ενώ αυτή είναι η σύζυγός σου και η γυνή της συνθήκης σου.

Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the Lord hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast indeed dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.

15 Και δεν έκαμεν ο Θεός ένα; και όμως αυτός είχεν υπεροχήν πνεύματος. Και διά τι τον ένα; διά να ζητήση σπέρμα θείον. Διά τούτο προσέχετε εις το πνεύμά σας, και ας μη φέρηται μηδείς απίστως προς την γυναίκα της νεότητος αυτού.

And not one doth so who hath a remnant of a [good] spirit; for what desireth such a one? he seeketh [to possess] a godly posterity: therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none of you deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

16 Διότι ο Κύριος, ο Θεός του Ισραήλ, λέγει ότι μισεί τον αποβάλλοντα αυτήν και τον καλύπτοντα την βίαν με το ένδυμα αυτού, λέγει ο Κύριος των δυνάμεων· διά τούτο προσέχετε εις το πνεύμά σας και μη φέρεσθε δολίως.

For he hateth putting away [the wife], so hath said the Lord the God of Israel, and him who covereth his garment with violence, so hath said the Lord of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, and deal not treacherously.

17 Κατεβαρύνατε τον Κύριον με τους λόγους σας· και λέγετε, με τι κατεβαρύναμεν αυτόν; Με το να λέγητε, πας όστις πράττει κακόν είναι ευάρεστος ενώπιον του Κυρίου, και αυτός ευδοκεί εις αυτούς. Που είναι ο Θεός της κρίσεως;

Ye have wearied the Lord with your words: yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? By your saying, Every one that doth evil is good in the eyes of the Lord, and in them he findeth delight; or else, Where is the God of justice!
