Κατα Λουκαν 23
1 Τότε εσηκώθη άπαν το πλήθος αυτών και έφεραν αυτόν προς τον Πιλάτον.
And the whole assemblage of them arose, and carried him before Pilate.
2 Και ήρχισαν να κατηγορώσιν αυτόν, λέγοντες· Τούτον εύρομεν διαστρέφοντα το έθνος και εμποδίζοντα το να δίδωσι φόρους εις τον Καίσαρα, λέγοντα εαυτόν ότι είναι Χριστός βασιλεύς.
And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this man perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he himself is the Christ, the king.
3 Ο δε Πιλάτος ηρώτησεν αυτόν, λέγων· Συ είσαι ο βασιλεύς των Ιουδαίων; Ο δε αποκριθείς προς αυτόν, είπε· Συ λέγεις.
And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the king of the Jews? And he answering said to him, I am.
4 Και ο Πιλάτος είπε προς τους αρχιερείς και τους όχλους· Ουδέν έγκλημα ευρίσκω εν τω ανθρώπω τούτω.
And Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, I find nothing criminal in this man.
5 Οι δε επέμενον λέγοντες ότι Ταράττει τον λαόν, διδάσκων καθ' όλην την Ιουδαίαν, αρχίσας από της Γαλιλαίας έως εδώ.
But they were the more violent, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Judaea, beginning from Galilee, even to this place.
6 Ο δε Πιλάτος ακούσας Γαλιλαίαν ηρώτησεν αν ο άνθρωπος ήναι Γαλιλαίος,
And when Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilaean.
7 και μαθών ότι είναι εκ της επικρατείας του Ηρώδου, έπεμψεν αυτόν προς τον Ηρώδην, όστις ήτο και αυτός εν Ιεροσολύμοις εν ταύταις ταις ημέραις.
And on learning that he belonged to Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was himself also at Jerusalem at this time.
8 Ο δε Ηρώδης, ιδών τον Ιησούν, εχάρη πολύ· διότι ήθελε προ πολλού να ίδη αυτόν, επειδή ήκουε πολλά περί αυτού και ήλπιζε να ίδη τι θαύμα γινόμενον υπ' αυτού.
Now Herod, when he saw Jesus, was very glad; for he had been wishing to see him for a long time, because he had heard about him; and he hoped to see some sign wrought by him.
9 Ηρώτα δε αυτόν με λόγους πολλούς· πλην αυτός δεν απεκρίθη προς αυτόν ουδέν.
And he put many questions to him; but he gave him no answer.
10 Ίσταντο δε οι αρχιερείς και οι γραμματείς, κατηγορούντες αυτόν εντόνως.
And the chief priests and scribes stood vehemently accusing him.
11 Αφού δε ο Ηρώδης μετά των στρατευμάτων αυτού εξουθένησεν αυτόν και ενέπαιξεν, ενέδυσεν αυτόν λαμπρόν ιμάτιον και έπεμψεν αυτόν πάλιν προς τον Πιλάτον.
And Herod also with his guard of soldiers set him at nought and mocked him, and having arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, sent him back to Pilate.
12 Εν αυτή δε τη ημέρα ο Πιλάτος και ο Ηρώδης έγειναν φίλοι μετ' αλλήλων· διότι πρότερον ήσαν εις έχθραν προς αλλήλους.
And Herod and Pilate on that day became friends with each other; for they had before been at enmity.
13 Ο δε Πιλάτος, συγκαλέσας τους αρχιερείς και τους άρχοντας και τον λαόν,
And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14 είπε προς αυτούς· Εφέρατε προς εμέ τον άνθρωπον τούτον ως στασιάζοντα τον λαόν, και ιδού, εγώ ενώπιόν σας ανακρίνας δεν εύρον εν τω ανθρώπω τούτω ουδέν έγκλημα εξ όσων κατηγορείτε κατ' αυτού,
said to them, Ye have brought to me this man, as one that perverteth the people; and behold, I have examined him before you, and have found nothing in this man to sustain the charges which ye bring against him.
15 αλλ' ουδέ ο Ηρώδης, διότι σας έπεμψα προς αυτόν· και ιδού, ουδέν άξιον θανάτου είναι πεπραγμένον υπ' αυτού.
No, nor yet Herod; for he hath sent him back to us; and lo! nothing deserving death hath been done by him.
16 Αφού λοιπόν παιδεύσω αυτόν, θέλω απολύσει.
I will therefore chastise, and release him.
17 Έπρεπε δε αναγκαίως να απολύη εις αυτούς ένα εν τη εορτή.
Now it was necessary for him to release to them one at the feast.
18 Πάντες δε ομού ανέκραξαν, λέγοντες· Σήκωσον τούτον, απόλυσον δε εις ημάς τον Βαραββάν·
And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas;
19 όστις διά στάσιν τινά γενομένην εν τη πόλει και διά φόνον ήτο βεβλημένος εις φυλακήν.
who, for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, had been cast into prison.
20 Πάλιν λοιπόν ο Πιλάτος ελάλησε προς αυτούς, θέλων να απολύση τον Ιησούν.
But Pilate again spoke to them, wishing to release Jesus.
21 Οι δε εφώναζον, λέγοντες· Σταύρωσον, σταύρωσον αυτόν.
But they cried out, saying, Crucify, crucify him!
22 Ο δε και τρίτην φοράν είπε προς αυτούς· Και τι κακόν έπραξεν ούτος; ουδεμίαν αιτίαν θανάτου εύρον εν αυτώ· αφού λοιπόν παιδεύσω αυτόν, θέλω απολύσει.
And he said to them the third time, Why, what evil hath this man done? I have found him guilty of nothing deserving death; I will therefore chastise, and release him.
23 Αλλ' εκείνοι επέμενον, με φωνάς μεγάλας ζητούντες να σταυρωθή, και αι φωναί αυτών και των αρχιερέων υπερίσχυον.
But they were urgent with loud voices, demanding that he should he crucified; and their voices prevailed.
24 Και ο Πιλάτος απεφάσισε να γείνη το ζήτημα αυτών,
And Pilate gave sentence that what they demanded should be done.
25 και απέλυσεν εις αυτούς τον διά στάσιν και φόνον βεβλημένον εις την φυλακήν, τον οποίον εζήτουν, τον δε Ιησούν παρέδωκεν εις το θέλημα αυτών.
And he released him who for sedition and murder had been cast into prison, whom they asked for; but Jesus he delivered up to their will.
26 Και καθώς έφεραν αυτόν έξω, επίασαν Σίμωνα τινά Κυρηναίον, ερχόμενον από του αγρού, και έθεσαν επάνω αυτού τον σταυρόν, διά να φέρη αυτόν όπισθεν του Ιησού.
And when they had led him away, they laid hold on one Simon a Cyrenaean, coming out of the country, and laid on him the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.
27 Ηκολούθει δε αυτόν πολύ πλήθος του λαού και γυναικών, αίτινες και ωδύροντο και εθρήνουν αυτόν.
And there followed him a great multitude of the people, and of women who were bewailing and lamenting him.
28 Στραφείς δε προς αυτάς ο Ιησούς, είπε· θυγατέρες της Ιερουσαλήμ, μη κλαίετε δι' εμέ, αλλά δι' εαυτάς κλαίετε και διά τα τέκνα σας.
But Jesus turning to them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me; but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29 Διότι ιδού, έρχονται ημέραι καθ' ας θέλουσιν ειπεί· Μακάριαι αι στείραι και αι κοιλίαι, αίτινες δεν εγέννησαν, και οι μαστοί, οίτινες δεν εθήλασαν.
For lo! the days are coming, in which they will say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never gave nourishment.
30 Τότε θέλουσιν αρχίσει να λέγωσιν εις τα όρη, Πέσετε εφ' ημάς, και εις τα βουνά, Σκεπάσατε ημάς·
Then will they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
31 διότι εάν εις το υγρόν ξύλον πράττωσι ταύτα, τι θέλει γείνει εις το ξηρόν;
For if they do these things in the green tree, what will be done in the dry?
32 Εφέροντο δε και άλλοι δύο μετ' αυτού, οίτινες ήσαν κακούργοι διά να θανατωθώσι.
And two others, who were malefactors, were led with him to be put to death.
33 Και ότε ήλθον εις τον τόπον τον ονομαζόμενον Κρανίον, εκεί εσταύρωσαν αυτόν και τους κακούργους, τον μεν εκ δεξιών, τον δε εξ αριστερών.
And when they had come to the place which is called the Skull, they there crucified him, and the malefactors; one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Ο δε Ιησούς έλεγε· Πάτερ, συγχώρησον αυτούς· διότι δεν εξεύρουσι τι πράττουσι. Διαμεριζόμενοι δε τα ιμάτια αυτού, έβαλον κλήρον.
And Jesus said, Father, forgive them! for they know not what they do. And they divided his garments, casting lots.
35 Και ίστατο ο λαός θεωρών. Ενέπαιζον δε και οι άρχοντες μετ' αυτών, λέγοντες· Άλλους έσωσεν, ας σώση αυτόν, εάν ούτος ήναι ο Χριστός ο εκλεκτός του Θεού.
And the people stood looking on; and the rulers sneered, saying, Others he saved; let him save himself, if this is the Christ of God, the chosen one.
36 Ενέπαιζον δε αυτόν και οι στρατιώται, πλησιάζοντες και προσφέροντες όξος εις αυτόν
And the soldiers also came up to him and made sport of him, offering him vinegar,
37 και λέγοντες· Εάν συ ήσαι ο βασιλεύς των Ιουδαίων, σώσον σεαυτόν.
and saying, If thou art the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38 Ήτο δε και επιγραφή γεγραμμένη επάνωθεν αυτού με γράμματα Ελληνικά και Ρωμαϊκά και Εβραϊκά· Ούτος εστίν ο Βασιλεύς των Ιουδαίων.
There was also an inscription over him: “This is the king of the Jews.”
39 Εις δε των κρεμασθέντων κακούργων εβλασφήμει αυτόν, λέγων· Εάν συ ήσαι ο Χριστός, σώσον σεαυτόν και ημάς.
And one of the crucified malefactors railed at him, saying, Art thou not the Christ? save thyself and us.
40 Αποκριθείς δε ο άλλος, επέπληττεν αυτόν, λέγων· Ουδέ τον Θεόν δεν φοβείσαι συ, όστις είσαι εν τη αυτή καταδίκη;
But the other answering said, rebuking him, Dost not thou fear God, since thou art in the same condemnation?
41 και ημείς μεν δικαίως· διότι άξια των όσα επράξαμεν απολαμβάνομεν· ούτος όμως ουδέν άτοπον έπραξε.
And we indeed justly; for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 Και έλεγε προς τον Ιησούν· Μνήσθητί μου, Κύριε, όταν έλθης εν τη βασιλεία σου.
And he said, Jesus, remember me when thou comest in thy kingdom.
43 Και είπε προς αυτόν ο Ιησούς· Αληθώς σοι λέγω, σήμερον θέλεις είσθαι μετ' εμού εν τω παραδείσω.
And he said to him, Truly do I say to thee, Today shalt thou be with me in Paradise.
44 Ήτο δε ως έκτη ώρα και έγεινε σκότος εφ' όλην την γην έως ώρας εννάτης,
And it was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour,
45 και εσκοτίσθη ο ήλιος και εσχίσθη εις το μέσον το καταπέτασμα του ναού·
the sun having failed; and the veil of the temple was rent in two.
46 και φωνάξας με φωνήν μεγάλην ο Ιησούς είπε· Πάτερ, εις χείρας σου παραδίδω το πνεύμά μου· και ταύτα ειπών εξέπνευσεν.
And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit! And having said this, he expired.
47 Ιδών δε ο εκατόνταρχος το γενόμενον, εδόξασε τον Θεόν, λέγων· Όντως ο άνθρωπος ούτος ήτο δίκαιος.
And the centurion, seeing what was done, gave glory to God, saying, Surely this was a righteous man.
48 Και πάντες οι όχλοι οι συνελθόντες εις την θεωρίαν ταύτην, βλέποντες τα γενόμενα, υπέστρεφον τύπτοντες τα στήθη αυτών.
And all the multitudes that had come together to that sight, when they had seen the things which were done, returned, beating their breasts.
49 Ίσταντο δε μακρόθεν πάντες οι γνωστοί αυτού, και αι γυναίκες αίτινες συνηκολούθησαν αυτόν από της Γαλιλαίας, και έβλεπον ταύτα.
And all his acquaintances stood at a distance, and women that came with him from Galilee, beholding these things.
50 Και ιδού, ανήρ τις Ιωσήφ το όνομα, όστις ήτο βουλευτής, ανήρ αγαθός και δίκαιος,
And lo! a man named Joseph, of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews, being a councilor, and a good and righteous man,
51 ούτος δεν ήτο σύμφωνος με την βουλήν και την πράξιν αυτών, από Αριμαθαίας πόλεως των Ιουδαίων, όστις και αυτός περιέμενε την βασιλείαν του Θεού,
who was not consenting to their purpose and deed, and was waiting for the kingdom of God, —
52 ούτος ελθών προς τον Πιλάτον, εζήτησε το σώμα του Ιησού,
this man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.
53 και καταβιβάσας αυτό ετύλιξεν αυτό με σινδόνα και έθεσεν αυτό εν μνημείω λελατομημένω· όπου ουδείς έτι είχεν ενταφιασθή.
And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock; wherein no one had yet lain.
54 Και ήτο ημέρα παρασκευή, και εξημέρονε σάββατον.
And it was the day of preparation, and the sabbath was now coming on.
55 Ηκολούθησαν δε και γυναίκες, αίτινες είχον ελθεί μετ' αυτού από της Γαλιλαίας, και είδον το μνημείον και πως ετέθη το σώμα αυτού.
And the women also, who had come with him from Galilee, followed after, and saw the tomb, and how his body was laid.
56 Και αφού υπέστρεψαν ητοίμασαν αρώματα και μύρα. Και το μεν σάββατον ησύχασαν κατά την εντολήν.
And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and on the sabbath they rested, according to the commandment.
