Κατα Λουκαν 22
1 Επλησίαζε δε η εορτή των αζύμων, λεγομένη Πάσχα.
Meanwhile the Festival of the Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching,
2 Και εζήτουν οι αρχιερείς και οι γραμματείς το πως να θανατώσωσιν αυτόν διότι φοβούντο τον λαόν.
and the High Priests and the Scribes were contriving how to destroy Him. But they feared the people.
3 Εισήλθε δε ο Σατανάς εις τον Ιούδαν τον επονομαζόμενον Ισκαριώτην, όντα εκ του αριθμού των δώδεκα,
Satan, however, entered into Judas (the man called Iscariot) who was one of the Twelve.
4 και υπήγε και συνελάλησε μετά των αρχιερέων και των στρατηγών το πως να παραδώση αυτόν εις αυτούς.
He went and conferred with the High Priests and Commanders as to how he should deliver Him up to them.
5 Και εχάρησαν και συνεφώνησαν να δώσωσιν εις αυτόν αργύριον·
This gave them great pleasure, and they agreed to pay him.
6 και έδωκεν υπόσχεσιν και εζήτει ευκαιρίαν να παραδώση αυτόν εις αυτούς χωρίς θορύβου.
He accepted their offer, and then looked out for an opportunity to betray Him when the people were not there.
7 Ήλθε δε ημέρα των αζύμων, καθ' ην έπρεπε να θυσιάσωσι το πάσχα,
When the day of the Unleavened Bread came--the day for the Passover lamb to be sacrificed--
8 και απέστειλε τον Πέτρον και Ιωάννην, ειπών· Υπάγετε και ετοιμάσατε εις ημάς το πάσχα, διά να φάγωμεν.
Jesus sent Peter and John with instructions. "Go," He said, "and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat it."
9 Οι δε είπον προς αυτόν· Που θέλεις να ετοιμάσωμεν;
"Where shall we prepare it?" they asked.
10 Ο δε είπε προς αυτούς· Ιδού, όταν εισέλθητε εις την πόλιν, θέλει σας συναπαντήσει άνθρωπος βαστάζων σταμνίον ύδατος· ακολουθήσατε αυτόν εις την οικίαν όπου εισέρχεται.
"You will no sooner have entered the city," He replied, "than you will meet a man carrying a pitcher of water. Follow him into the house to which he goes,
11 Και θέλετε ειπεί προς τον οικοδεσπότην της οικίας· Ο Διδάσκαλος σοι λέγει, Που είναι το κατάλυμα, όπου θέλω φάγει το πάσχα μετά των μαθητών μου;
and say to the master of the house, "'The Rabbi asks you, Where is the room where I can eat the Passover with my disciples?'
12 και εκείνος θέλει σας δείξει ανώγεον μέγα εστρωμένον· εκεί ετοιμάσατε.
"And he will show you a large furnished room upstairs. There make your preparations."
13 Αφού δε υπήγον, εύρον καθώς είπε προς αυτούς, και ητοίμασαν το πάσχα.
So they went and found all as He had told them; and they got the Passover ready.
14 Και ότε ήλθεν η ώρα, εκάθησεν εις την τράπεζαν, και οι δώδεκα απόστολοι μετ' αυτού.
When the time was come, and He had taken His place at table, and the Apostles with Him,
15 Και είπε προς αυτούς· Πολύ επεθύμησα να φάγω το πάσχα τούτο με σας προ του να πάθω·
He said to them, "Earnestly have I longed to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;
16 διότι σας λέγω, ότι δεν θέλω φάγει πλέον εξ αυτού, εωσού εκπληρωθή εν τη βασιλεία του Θεού.
for I tell you that I certainly shall not eat one again till its full meaning has been brought out in the Kingdom of God."
17 Και λαβών το ποτήριον, ευχαρίστησε και είπε· Λάβετε τούτο και διαμοιράσατε εις αλλήλους·
Then, having received the cup and given thanks, He said, "Take this and share it among yourselves;
18 διότι σας λέγω ότι δεν θέλω πίει από του γεννήματος της αμπέλου, εωσού έλθη η βασιλεία του Θεού.
for I tell you that from this time I will never drink the produce of the vine till the Kingdom of God has come."
19 Και λαβών άρτον, ευχαριστήσας έκοψε και έδωκεν εις αυτούς, λέγων· Τούτο είναι το σώμα μου το υπέρ υμών διδόμενον· τούτο κάμνετε εις την ιδικήν μου ανάμνησιν.
Then, taking a Passover biscuit, He gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body which is being given on your behalf: this do in remembrance of me."
20 Ωσαύτως και το ποτήριον, αφού εδείπνησαν, λέγων· Τούτο το ποτήριον είναι η καινή διαθήκη εν τω αίματί μου, το υπέρ υμών εκχυνόμενον.
He gave them the cup in like manner, when the meal was over. "This cup," He said, "is the new Covenant ratified by my blood which is to be poured out on your behalf.
21 Πλην ιδού, η χειρ εκείνου όστις με παραδίδει, είναι μετ' εμού επί της τραπέζης.
Yet the hand of him who is betraying me is at the table with me.
22 Και ο μεν Υιός του ανθρώπου υπάγει κατά το ωρισμένον· πλην ουαί εις τον άνθρωπον εκείνον, δι' ου παραδίδεται.
For indeed the Son of Man goes on His way--His pre-destined way; yet alas for that man who is betraying Him!"
23 Και αυτοί ήρχισαν να συζητώσι προς αλλήλους το ποίος τάχα ήτο εξ αυτών, όστις έμελλε να κάμη τούτο.
Thereupon they began to discuss with one another which of them it could possibly be who was about to do this.
24 Έγεινε δε και φιλονεικία μεταξύ αυτών, περί του τις εξ αυτών νομίζεται ότι είναι μεγαλήτερος.
There arose also a dispute among them which of them should be regarded as greatest.
25 Ο δε είπε προς αυτούς· οι βασιλείς των εθνών κυριεύουσιν αυτά, και οι εξουσιάζοντες αυτά ονομάζονται ευεργέται.
But He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles are their masters, and those who exercise authority over them are called Benefactors.
26 Σεις όμως ουχί ούτως, αλλ' ο μεγαλήτερος μεταξύ σας ας γείνη ως ο μικρότερος, και ο προϊστάμενος ως ο υπηρετών.
With you it is not so; but let the greatest among you be as the younger, and the leader be like him who serves.
27 Διότι τις είναι μεγαλήτερος, ο καθήμενος εις την τράπεζαν ή ο υπηρετών; ουχί ο καθήμενος; αλλ' εγώ είμαι εν μέσω υμών ως ο υπηρετών.
For which is the greater--he who sits at table, or he who waits on him? Is it not he who sits at table? But my position among you is that of one who waits on others.
28 Σεις δε είσθε οι διαμείναντες μετ' εμού εν τοις πειρασμοίς μου·
You however have remained with me amid my trials;
29 όθεν εγώ ετοιμάζω εις εσάς βασιλείαν, ως ο Πατήρ μου ητοίμασεν εις εμέ,
and I covenant to give you, as my Father has covenanted to give me, a Kingdom--
30 διά να τρώγητε και να πίνητε επί της τραπέζης μου εν τη βασιλεία μου, και να καθήσητε επί θρόνων, κρίνοντες τας δώδεκα φυλάς του Ισραήλ.
so that you shall eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom, and sit on thrones as judges over the twelve tribes of Israel.
31 Είπε δε ο Κύριος· Σίμων, Σίμων, ιδού, ο Σατανάς σας εζήτησε διά να σας κοσκινίση ως τον σίτον·
"Simon, Simon, I tell you that Satan has obtained permission to have all of you to sift as wheat is sifted.
32 πλην εγώ εδεήθην περί σου διά να μη εκλείψη η πίστις σου· και συ, όταν ποτέ επιστρέψης, στήριξον τους αδελφούς σου.
But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail, and you, when at last you have come back to your true self, must strengthen your brethren."
33 Ο δε είπε προς αυτόν· Κύριε, έτοιμος είμαι μετά σου να υπάγω και εις φυλακήν και εις θάνατον.
"Master," replied Peter, "with you I am ready to go both to prison and to death."
34 Ο δε είπε· Σοι λέγω, Πέτρε, δεν θέλει φωνάξει σήμερον ο αλέκτωρ, πριν απαρνηθής τρίς ότι δεν με γνωρίζεις.
"I tell you, Peter," said Jesus, "that the cock will not crow to-day till you have three times denied that you know me."
35 Και είπε προς αυτούς· Ότε σας απέστειλα χωρίς βαλαντίου και σακκίου και υποδημάτων, μήπως εστερήθητέ τινός; οι δε είπον· Ουδενός.
Then He asked them, "When I sent you out without purse or bag or shoes, was there anything you needed?" "No, nothing," they replied.
36 Είπε λοιπόν προς αυτούς· Αλλά τώρα όστις έχει βαλάντιον ας λάβη αυτό μεθ' εαυτού, ομοίως και σακκίον, και όστις δεν έχει ας πωλήση το ιμάτιον αυτού και ας αγοράση μάχαιραν.
"But now," said He, "let the one who has a purse take it, and he who has a bag must do the same. And let him who has no sword sell his outer garment and buy one.
37 Διότι σας λέγω ότι έτι τούτο το γεγραμμένον πρέπει να εκτελεσθή εις εμέ, το, Και μετά ανόμων ελογίσθη. Διότι τα περί εμού γεγραμμένα λαμβάνουσι τέλος.
For I tell you that those words of Scripture must yet find their fulfilment in me: 'And He was reckoned among the lawless'; for indeed that saying about me has its accomplishment."
38 Οι δε είπον· Κύριε, ιδού, ήδη δύο μάχαιραι. Ο δε είπε προς αυτούς· Ικανόν είναι.
"Master, here are two swords," they exclaimed. "That is enough," He replied.
39 Και εξελθών υπήγε κατά την συνήθειαν εις το όρος των Ελαιών· ηκολούθησαν δε αυτόν και οι μαθηταί αυτού.
On going out, He proceeded as usual to the Mount of Olives, and His disciples followed Him.
40 Αφού δε ήλθεν εις τον τόπον, είπε προς αυτούς· Προσεύχεσθε, διά να μη εισέλθητε εις πειρασμόν.
But when He arrived at the place, He said to them, "Pray that you may not come into temptation."
41 Και αυτός εχωρίσθη απ' αυτών ως λίθου βολήν, και γονατίσας προσηύχετο,
But He Himself withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed repeatedly, saying,
42 λέγων· Πάτερ, εάν θέλης να απομακρύνης το ποτήριον τούτο απ' εμού· πλην ουχί το θέλημά μου, αλλά το σον ας γείνη.
"Father, if it be Thy will, take this cup away from me; yet not my will but Thine be done!"
43 Εφάνη δε εις αυτόν άγγελος απ' ουρανού ενισχύων αυτόν.
And there appeared to Him an angel from Heaven, strengthening Him;
44 Και ελθών εις αγωνίαν, προσηύχετο θερμότερον, έγεινε δε ο ιδρώς αυτού ως θρόμβοι αίματος καταβαίνοντες εις την γην.
while He--an agony of distress having come upon Him--prayed all the more with intense earnestness, and His sweat became like clots of blood dropping on the ground.
45 Και σηκωθείς από της προσευχής, ήλθε προς τους μαθητάς αυτού και εύρεν αυτούς κοιμωμένους από της λύπης,
When He rose from his prayer and came to His disciples, He found them sleeping for sorrow.
46 και είπε προς αυτούς· Τι κοιμάσθε; σηκώθητε και προσεύχεσθε, διά να μη εισέλθητε εις πειρασμόν.
"Why are you sleeping?" He said; "stand up; and pray that you may not come into temptation."
47 Ενώ δε αυτός ελάλει έτι, ιδού όχλος, και ο λεγόμενος Ιούδας, εις των δώδεκα, ήρχετο προ αυτών και επλησίασεν εις τον Ιησούν, διά να φιλήση αυτόν.
While He was still speaking there came a crowd with Judas, already mentioned as one of the Twelve, at their head. He went up to Jesus to kiss Him.
48 Ο δε Ιησούς είπε προς αυτόν· Ιούδα, με φίλημα παραδίδεις τον Υιόν του ανθρώπου;
"Judas," said Jesus, "are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?"
49 Ιδόντες δε οι περί αυτόν τι έμελλε να γείνη, είπον προς αυτόν· Κύριε, να κτυπήσωμεν με την μάχαιραν;
Those who were about Him, seeing what was likely to happen, asked Him, "Master, shall we strike with the sword?"
50 Και εκτύπησεν εις εξ αυτών τον δούλον του αρχιερέως και απέκοψεν αυτού το ωτίον το δεξιόν.
And one of them struck a blow at the High Priest's servant and cut off his right ear.
51 Αποκριθείς δε ο Ιησούς, είπεν· Αφήσατε έως τούτου· και πιάσας το ωτίον αυτού ιάτρευσεν αυτόν.
"Permit me thus far," said Jesus. And He touched the ear and healed it.
52 Είπε δε ο Ιησούς προς τους ελθόντας επ' αυτόν αρχιερείς και στρατηγούς του ιερού και πρεσβυτέρους. Ως επί ληστήν εξήλθετε μετά μαχαιρών και ξύλων;
Then Jesus said to the High Priests and Commanders of the Temple and Elders, who had come to arrest Him, "Have you come out as if to fight with a robber, with swords and cudgels?
53 καθ' ημέραν ήμην μεθ' υμών εν τω ιερώ και δεν ηπλώσατε τας χείρας επ' εμέ. Αλλ' αύτη είναι η ώρα σας και η εξουσία του σκότους.
While day after day I was with you in the Temple, you did not lay hands upon me; but to you belongs this hour--and the power of darkness."
54 Συλλαβόντες δε αυτόν, έφεραν και εισήγαγον αυτόν εις τον οίκον του αρχιερέως. Ο δε Πέτρος ηκολούθει μακρόθεν.
And they arrested Him and led Him away, and brought Him to the High Priest's house, while Peter followed a good way behind.
55 Αφού δε ανάψαντες πυρ εν τω μέσω της αυλής συνεκάθησαν, εκάθητο ο Πέτρος εν μέσω αυτών.
And when they had lighted a fire in the middle of the court and had seated themselves in a group round it, Peter was sitting among them,
56 Ιδούσα δε αυτόν μία τις δούλη καθήμενον προς το φως και ενατενίσασα εις αυτόν, είπε· Και ούτος ήτο μετ' αυτού.
when a maidservant saw him sitting by the fire, and, looking fixedly at him, she said, "This man also was with him."
57 Ο δε ηρνήθη, λέγων· Γύναι, δεν γνωρίζω αυτόν.
But he denied it, and declared, "Woman, I do not know him."
58 Και μετ' ολίγον άλλος τις ιδών αυτόν, είπε· Και συ εξ αυτών είσαι. Ο δε Πέτρος είπεν· Άνθρωπε, δεν είμαι.
Shortly afterwards a man saw him and said, "You, too, are one of them." "No, man, I am not," said Peter.
59 Και αφού επέρασεν ως μία ώρα, άλλος τις διϊσχυρίζετο, λέγων· Επ' αληθείας και ούτος μετ' αυτού ήτο· διότι Γαλιλαίος είναι.
After an interval of about an hour some one else stoutly maintained: "Certainly this fellow also was with him, for in fact he is a Galilaean."
60 Είπε δε ο Πέτρος· Άνθρωπε, δεν εξεύρω τι λέγεις. Και παρευθύς, ενώ αυτός ελάλει έτι, εφώναξεν ο αλέκτωρ.
"Man, I don't know what you mean," replied Peter. No sooner had he spoken than a cock crowed.
61 Και στραφείς ο Κύριος ενέβλεψεν εις τον Πέτρον, και ενεθυμήθη ο Πέτρος τον λόγον του Κυρίου, ότι είπε προς αυτόν ότι πριν φωνάξη ο αλέκτωρ, θέλεις με απαρνηθή τρίς.
The Master turned and looked on Peter; and Peter recollected the Master's words, how He had said to him, "This very day, before the cock crows, you will disown me three times."
62 Και εξελθών έξω ο Πέτρος έκλαυσε πικρώς.
And he went out and wept aloud bitterly.
63 Και οι άνδρες οι κρατούντες τον Ιησούν ενέπαιζον αυτόν δέροντες,
Meanwhile the men who held Jesus in custody repeatedly beat Him in cruel sport,
64 και περικαλύψαντες αυτόν ερράπιζον το πρόσωπον αυτού και ηρώτων αυτόν, λέγοντες· Προφήτευσον τις είναι όστις σε εκτύπησε;
or blindfolded Him, and then challenged Him. "Prove to us," they said, "that you are a prophet, by telling us who it was that struck you."
65 Και άλλα πολλά βλασφημούντες έλεγον εις αυτόν.
And they said many other insulting things to Him.
66 Και καθώς έγεινεν ημέρα, συνήχθη το πρεσβυτέριον του λαού, αρχιερείς τε και γραμματείς, και ανεβίβασαν αυτόν εις το συνέδριον αυτών, λέγοντες·
As soon as it was day, the whole body of the Elders, both High Priests and Scribes, assembled. Then He was brought into their Sanhedrin, and they asked Him,
67 Συ είσαι ο Χριστός; ειπέ προς ημάς· είπε δε προς αυτούς. Εάν σας είπω, δεν θέλετε πιστεύσει,
"Are you the Christ? Tell us." "If I tell you," He replied, "you will certainly not believe;
68 εάν δε και ερωτήσω, δεν θέλετε μοι αποκριθή ουδέ θέλετε με απολύσει·
and if I ask you questions, you will certainly not answer.
69 από του νυν θέλει είσθαι ο Υιός του ανθρώπου καθήμενος εκ δεξιών της δυνάμεως του Θεού.
But from this time forward the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of God's omnipotence."
70 Είπον δε πάντες· Συ λοιπόν είσαι ο Υιός του Θεού; Ο δε είπε προς αυτούς· Σεις λέγετε ότι εγώ είμαι.
Thereupon they cried out with one voice, "You, then, are the Son of God?" "It is as you say," He answered; "I am He."
71 Οι δε είπον· Τι χρείαν έχομεν πλέον μαρτυρίας; διότι ημείς αυτοί ηκούσαμεν από του στόματος αυτού.
"What need have we of further evidence?" they said; "for we ourselves have heard it from his own lips."
